We returned to Blue Moon Bistro this week and again had a wonderful meal! Judy was our server again and she remembered us. The food was outstanding and the evening very enjoyable. What an amazing dining experience. The restaurant is nestled in the beautiful town of Beaufort on a quiet side street across from a Beautiful bed and breakfast. The ambience was very quaint and pleasant. We chose to dine outside due to the beautiful weather today. The service was spectacular and accommodating to our request. The food was spectacular in presentation and was an amazing combination of flavors. I had the onion tart for an appetizer. The combination of the onion, mushrooms and cheese garnished with pickled red onions and fresh greens was spectacular. The Filet mignon with mashed potatoes and string beans was presented well. The filet was coked to perfection, mashed potatoes had an excellent flavor with the well seasoned firm green beans paired well. I would highly recommend this restaurant. AMAZING in every way! We had French onion soup,Caesar salad with the best deviled egg I have ever had. Filet mignon cooked to perfection. Fish and risotto. Yum and lastly lamb chops that melted in your mouth cooked perfectly. Took dessert home Beignets and crème brûlée. Yes the restaurant made us crème brûlée to go! Service was amazing. We went on a Sunday for dinner - and it was open - so I'm not sure if yelp's hours are accurate. I ordered the strawberry jalapeño margarita, which was delightfully refreshing. To start, we shared the lobster bisque and oh my my my. It was so good. I ordered the maple bourbon seared scallops and my husband got the shrimp pasta. I LOVED my scallops! Went on a Saturday night at 6. We sat on the porch. It was lovely. Raina was our server and she did a wonderful job, checking in multiple times to make sure all was well. We split the lobster bisque. The Scallops & Bacon served on a bed of goat cheese grits was wonderful. The tuna au poivre was perfect. The place is lovely however, we weren't very hungry so we ordered a few hors d'euvres: bowl of the onion soup, brussels sprout and shrimp and grits. The disappointment on the waitstaff face was unmistakable. I suppose she was counting tip on the basics of what we ordered or the amount. The soup tasted like it came form a can - there were only 3 shrimp and they were rubbery. The brussels sprouts were the best and the strangest combination of flavors I ever experienced. What a cute little restaurant in a renovated home. Loved the ambiance - the staff were all so pleasant and friendly. We ordered lobster bisque, zucchini fries and the shrimp & grits appetizer. I prefer a creamier bisque but if you like your lobster bisque with more of a tomato/sherry base and a little spice, this would be perfect for you! The star of the meal was the shrimp and grits appetizer and the French Martini. We were seated in the bar area and our waitress was also the restaurant bartender so she had to wait on 3 tables, the people seated at the bar and was making drinks for the entire restaurant so there was a bit of a wait to order. I was looking forward to dining at Blue Moon Bistro. I knew the restaurant just opened after restoring an older house so thought it would be somewhere I'd enjoy. I had looked over the menu ahead of time and decided what to order. I was intrigued by the pork porterhouse with grilled peaches and purple sweet potatoes and cauliflower cream sauce. As you can see from the photos, I did not get the pork porterhouse that is the main picture on the website's menu page. What I got had mashed potatoes; two carrots; and lots and lots of onions. I hate onions so I had to pick those off. The pork and the mashed potatoes were good but I wanted to try the purple sweet potato as I'd never had that before. Then pork and peaches would have gone so well together being peach season. I did notice that Opentable has a different menu than the restaurant website menu so they need to make the menus the same. I thought the restaurant's website menu would be accurate. I needed something sweet after that entree so went with the beignets for dessert. They had a strawberry glaze. In the middle of dining the music volume increased considerably and the speaker was above my head. They did turn it down some. Those conversing at the tables had to talk over the louder music so it got much noisier inside. read more

What a great spot - it's not very big, so I would recommend a reservation. Inside the ambiance is nice - quite an upscale feel. Outside seating is great this time of year and allows for a little more relaxed time. Food was amazing - highly recommend the Brussels sprouts, lobster bisque, scallops and grouper. Service was just as good - with multiple servers and employees checking in, making recommendations, providing pleasant chat etc. I wouldn't necessarily recommend for kids BUT we brought our kids and they loved it. I wanted to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday some where we have not eaten. I looked online and Blue Moon Bistro came up. The reviews looked good. I made the reservation through Open Table. I asked some friends from Beaufort if they have eaten there and I got mixed reviews. Most ate there when the restaurant first opened. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere in the restaurant. Raina was our server. Very cordial and knowledgeable about the dishes. We enjoyed the foie gras and the chargrilled oysters to start. I had the seared salmon and my husband had the swordfish which was the fish of the day. Both were so flavorful. We topped the meal off with the beignets. We will definitely be back again and recommend Blue Moon Bistro to others. read more

You will get excellent service and a lovely ambiance here at the Blue Moon. I loved the yeast rolls served with the softened butter infused with orange zest. That was delicious! I had the "shrimp etoufee" which I knew from the menu description was not going to be a traditional roux-based etoufee. But it was a bit too untraditional to really work for me. It appeared to be built on a tomato-based creole sauce that was watered down to the point of being soup. A scattering of fresh, local, slightly overcooked shrimp were the protein, with a small ice cream scoop serving of rice submerged in the center of the well-seasoned tomato soup. The flavors were fine but the combination of the scant amount of rice, the watery tomato sauce, and the shrimp lacking in sufficient quantity and proper doneness, left me rather disappointed with the dish. The beignets for dessert were incredibly delicious, though, so I left smiling regardless. I am giving them 5 stars because they are so nice, the service is terrific, and I think I just caught a bad entree/chef having a bad night. It happens. My fellow diners all enjoyed their meals. I will certainly return and simply order something else the next time. read more

My wife and I were happy to be seated after a long drive to Beaufort. It was after 7:30 PM and the place was packed with lively large groups making the noise level high although reasonable under the circumstances. The interior design and lighting is quite modern and attractive if a bit on the dimly lit side. The hostess and waitress were very attentive. Yelp displays the price per person with two dollar signs "$$". When looking over the menu we found most entrees in the mid $30 range. My grilled tuna was quite good as were my wife's crab cakes. I would go there again with the knowledge that this is a special place where customers are going to receive an outstanding experience that will most likely cost between $50 to $70 per person if appetizers and drinks are added. read more

Excellent food overall, we went there and I took a filet mignon, she took ribs. The side were cooked and prepared very well, the ribs and filet mignon were perfectly cooked and tender. There were a few hiccups: - a $60 bottle of wine was not worth it, a 2016 Saint Émilien should have been better. I am guessing the sommelier was not really aware of that. - the waitresses were very professional but rather cold, a smile goes a long way. I checked and most of them were like that. - a $40 filet mignon, although excellent was rather small and lost with in the dish with sides surrounded it. We had an amazing dinner here while in Beaufort for our wedding anniversary. Started with some great cocktails. I loved the French 1827 and husband liked Smokey Apricot Old Fashioned but really enjoyed the Summer Sorghum Manhattan. We enjoyed the heirloom tomato tart as our appetizer. He had the nights special duck quarter with asparagus and fingerling potatoes. I had hands down the best filet that I've had in a while, better than many steakhouses. It was covered in a red wine demi with a fois gras butter! The service was wonderful, attentive but not bothersome. The place has a lovely interior, very comfortable. As a treat they gave us a delious creme brulee for our anniversary. Will definitely eat there our next visit. read more

We are very glad we choice to eat at the bar. The bartender was pleasant and everyone to seem to help out wherever they were needed in this small establishment!
