This place has a lake/pond in the back that fish are dumped into (watch the slow mo video on Facebook) so people can fish near mammoth cave almost all year round. My sandwich was basic - turkey on wheat bread with pepper jack cheese for just under $4. This place comes complete with moon pies. Chris (owner) is one of the nicest guys you are ever going to meet. Chris' wife Laura has a needlepoint shop in the back of his shop. The lake looked so peaceful that I've already made plans to return to sit, drink some beer, and fish with the locals. The store itself is not big and not glamorous- you go for the people and the scenery. This place is what road tripping is all about.

FYI it's by far the best paylake I have been too very friendly very clean and have caught bigger fish there than Harper's. The last place we decided to visit was Broughton Firearms. It's out in the country on a beautiful newly paved road and easy to find with GPS if you don't know the area. When we arrived we were really impressed with the property and headed down the long drive to the store. We walked in and were stunned to see the largest collection of Class 3 firearms either of us has ever seen! James welcomed us in and let us check out the rental guns as well as those for sale. We had a great conversation and learned a little about each other as we looked through a solid variety of rifles, shotguns and handguns for sale, both new and used. He also had ammo available for very reasonable prices, binoculars, scopes and various optics. My attention was held by the various full-auto firearms available to shoot. By the way, it's only $10 to bring your guns and ammo and shoot on their range! Very reasonable and there are plenty of hanging steel plates to shoot! We didn't have time to shoot today, but we will definitely be back soon! James is very friendly and was happy to chat with us about various guns and gun issues. It was hard to leave without buying a gun! I bought some ammo and we headed home. As I said, we will definitely be back! You should give this place a visit and bring your gear, the range looks like a hoot!

Never in my 62 years of life have I ever been to a business (any business, even the towing yard)…read morethat treats it's customers with such open hostility, disdain and condescension. If you don't ask the perfectly worded question, their answer is "I don't know, I can't help you" then they walk away. It's too much trouble for them to ask a guiding question or two to help clarify communication. Employee attitude stems from the management. Rather than trying to help, the manager would rather yell and brow beat you over a side issue, than answer your question with a straight answer. The customer is always wrong at this shop, and they make sure you know it. Take your gun business where they treat you with respect and want you to come back again. Like the song says, "some people want to be abused", if that's you, then this is your gun shop. If you expect a modicum of respect, go elsewhere. There is a hardware store just up the street with a very nice gun counter that respects it's customers and is a very pleasant place to do business.
