I had an issue with a stockpile of mail-order hemp and cannabis arriving before my Boveda packs did. Not wanting to waste any time in getting the hydration process underway, I called several local headshops and even a vape store and a cigar shop. No dice. While several had suggested I hit up Red Light, I knew I must have been avoiding doing so for a reason. First off, they do have some humidity packs (that are not Boveda but that's OK). When I called, I wanted to make sure they were they were for the correct amount of bud. The girl on the other end of the call then got argumentative and F-bombed me because she had no idea that packs for an eighth each don't cut it when you have ounces (see pic). After I explained the situation and told her that I'm pressing rosin in bulk right now, she then informed me that she is "involved" but "always down to meet new people". This happened without warning and without any kind of an invitation on my part. This is business, how about at least attempting some form of professional conduct??? I honestly felt pretty disgusted and more than a little annoyed after this experience. As a man had I ever done that on ANY job and someone complained, I'd be an unemployed man pretty dang quick. I absolutely guarantee that this is the nicest adult, um....novelty store that I've ever been in. And how can I guarantee that? Because it's the only one I've ever been in. I know, I know....a cosmopolitan player such as myself, who would have thought that at the ripe old age of ...well, never mind that*....I would first step foot into a place like this. In all fairness, I was dragged in here by a friend from high school who shall remain nameless (unless you text me off-line in which case I'll squeal like a pig). She wanted someone to go with her and I was happy to oblige. What was interesting is how clean and kind of normal the store was. I just assumed a store like this would be grimy and sticky, and smell of bleach, cleaning fluid and desperation. Granted, some of the merchandise I still have no idea why (or how) you'd use it, but the proprietor was very friendly and approached her job in a professional and business-like manner. Based on her calm persona, I soon stopped giggling and wandered the store while my friend got some assistance. Okay, so on one side there are a lot of DVDs. Any type of thing you want, you can find. If you like little people of color, they can help you out. Then there were a lot of inflatable objects and a lot of things that could be used as restraints or some type of bondage things (see picture of the cute doggie mask). There was a whole wall of what I'm assuming were latex or silicon effigies of body parts. I was really too scared to look. The other room had lingerie and other outfits, along with a selection of lotions and/or lubricants. All in all, it was a very educational experience for me. Came in with a *real* Illinois ID but got turned away because apparently my Illinois ID is "too thin" even though the hologram was valid. The associate also asked for my credit card and her only excuse for doing so was because of the thickness of my ID and that she was simply unfamiliar with this recent ID (I got my ID in 2019). She did not even check for the hologram on my ID which demonstrates her lack of observation and ability to accurately determine fake IDs from real ones. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! My friend and I (in our mid-twenties) entered the store around 8PM tonight and barely stepped into the store when the female at the cash register snarled, "IDs!" We went up to her and gave her our IDs. I had noticed that online the hours said open until 11pm, but the outside said midnight. I pleasantly told her "online it says you close at 11 just so you know." she said yeah they do but it says the wrong thing in the window. She stared at the IDs and mumbled under her breath. I asked, "What did you say?" She rudely replied, "YOU ARE BEING A SMARTASS AND I DON'T NEED THIS." We said fine we are leaving. She said ok, as if she didn't want us there anyway. This place of business obviously doesn't want any customers if that is how they treat people. No wonder the store was completely dead and had a bad review!! She needs to learn how to be polite! I will tell EVERYONE how awful this place is and how although it says its a large superstore online, it really is extremely small. (No bigger than a regular sized kitchen!) I normally don't leave yelp reviews, if I have a bad experience with something I just move on with my life. I never knew walking into this store would be one of the biggest mistakes I've made in my life. This store is located in Ocean City, Maryland. People go to Ocean City for the beach and other attractions. I walk into the store in a tank top, swimming trunks, and flip flops. No bags, no hoodies, nothing to draw attention to myself. Before I get two feet in the store I'm harassed about wanting to see my ID, which is understandable to some extent. I am a black male in his 20's. In today's world whether I like it or not I will be profiled. That being said I'm not going to do anything extra that could draw any attention to myself. I crouch down to look at a DVD on the bottom shelf and I also take out my phone to take snapchat. One of the cashier pops out of nowhere and says no photos and I immediately pop up and say okay and put my phone in my pocket. Seconds later the other cashier rushes to me out of nowhere shouting at me threatening to call the police. Accusing me of stealing. She keeps saying to me she's gonna call the police and tells me to empty my pockets. I'm so shocked by this accusation I kind of freeze up and comply. I pullout my keys, my phone charger, and phone. Still not satisfied she tells me to raise my shirt. After complying to all of her unlawful demands she still demanded I leave the store or she will call the police. So I leave.. I can honestly say that this was traumatic. To be profiled, forced to empty pockets and expose myself, and when proven innocent still forced to leave the store. The way I was treated at the Red Light District hurt me as a person. It showed that it doesn't matter how good of a person I am or what I have done, I'm still going to be profiled like a criminal. Looking back on it all I blame myself for not putting up more of a fight for my rights knowing I was innocent, but I froze up. The manager and cashier are very rude and unprofessional. I'm not going to go into the whole story but the manager cussed at my wife and made my wife feel threatened. she was very unprofessional as well as the cashier. I was waiting in the car and my wife came out in tears saying she was verbally attacked and was threatened. I was walking in the store before being met outside by the female manager. I'm assuming she didn't know that I was waiting outside on my wife. she began yelling at me and cussing at me and using profanity out in front of the store in the parking lot. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Came into the store to purchase some Bachelorette party supplies for our weekend in Ocean City and came across the most disgusting personality I have ever encountered and the worst customer service in my life. Upon entering we were asked rather rudely for ID's by what I assume is the owner since she later kept saying "I don't have this or I order that" If this is the owner, I feel sorry for the staff because she had a look of disdain on her face from the moment we arrived and every question I asked her, I got a shrugged shoulder and a snarky facial expression as if I was causing her pain by trying to spend money in her store. My first very reasonable question was did she have any sashes other than hot pink. To which she replied "Like what?" and I said...oh you know normal colors for bachelorette/bridal parties like red, black, white...anything other than hot pink? She said she never heard of any such thing and that hot pink is what you do. I told her I knew it was a common color but that I had many times in my life seen black, silver, zebra print, red, light pink, white etc. In fact for my own I purchased a coral colored one. I told her my friend was not into hot pink so we were trying to give her something more unique for her night out. She just kept looking at me like I asked her for a purple unicorn with rainbows for eyes.... Ok moving on so...."do you have any plain veils that do not have penises on them?" Again a painful eye rolling expression as if I am asking for the most complicated thing. I know its an adult store and therefore penises and adult themed supplies are inevitable. But the store also said it carried naughty lingerie and costumes so naturally, I assumed finding a regular costume veil might be a possibility. She informed me that this is what everyone does for bachelorette parties....hot pink and penises. And since that is what everyone does, that is what she orders. So the other bridesmaid who came with me and I began looking through all the costumes and accessories and supplies hoping to see something we can work with or something we can at least alter later since I am pretty crafty. The owner comes back to tell me she does have a costume set that comes with a veil and takes me over to look. She picks up the package and looks at the back and says "Oh no...nevermind it doesn't" wow so she clearly does not even know the products in her store. From that point on she pretty much ignored us until I got to the register with the veil that had penises dangling on it and she then tells me once again she was sorry but she never heard of any bachelorette party supplies that were not hot pink and penis themed. I was shocked she would not drop it when I am standing there ready to purchase the overpriced veil! If I was not short on time to get the supplies I probably would have just walked out because she clearly had more interest in arguing with me then actually selling me something in her store. Luckily I got all the penises off and hot glued bling over top where they used to be and added more tool to create a veil my friend would truly be happy with. She was so happy her veil did not have penises on it. So it all worked out in the end but I am still disgusted with the experience I had in this store and will NEVER give my money to this business again.
