I don't remember the last time I went to Red Lobster but it disappoint! We were greeted at the door and brought to our table. Larissa our server was Awesome!!! I stated off with the shrimp Caesar (delicious), their famous bread rolls, the lobster dip and lastly the ultimate feast. The portions are large for now a days and there were many people there from all ages which was nice to see. Will go back in the future.

This was the first dine in restaurant I went to once it was permitted in Ottawa for a quick and delicious date night . The staff was greeting everyone super amazingly that I felt part of the RL team. We had ordered biscuits for the table which was amazing, my partner a lobster bisque and I the mussels . Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of the food since we were kind of in a rush but it was super good . The staff was amazing and service in general really good . I would have put a 5 but I noticed that a majority of my mussels weren't fully cooked ( have to be open if it's mussels ) but It was okay ! Still very delicious with the side bread and rouille. Covid friendly : hand sanitizer , masks , amazing space between each table, dine in and take away options . Please enjoy the sunset of that amazing supper :)

I had dinner here with my husband and father-in-law recently. My father-in-law loves Red Lobster. I can't say that I'm the hugest fan of Red Lobster, as I find their food really salty and I find their prices high for what it is. I don't mind paying $15-$20 for mass produced chain-type restaurant food, but for $30+, I personally would prefer to spend that at a small independent restaurant where the food is prepared with more love and passion, and the setting is a bit more intimate. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised by some things that they did do very well. We went during their "Lobsterfest" and we started off with some Coconut Shrimp ($10.99). My husband and father-in-law both had the 1 1/4 pound lobster dinner ($34.99) for their main, while I had the "Mix 'n Match 2 Lobster Tails Dinner" ($34.99) for my main. The Coconut Shrimp appetizer was 6 shrimps, butterflied and breaded (the breading had coconut in it). It came with a pina colada dipping sauce. The shrimp were crispy and a good size, and I really liked the dipping sauce. It was sweet and had chunks of pineapple in it. I love pina coladas, so this dish was a big hit for me. For my "Mix 'n Match" I got the "creamy shrimp topped lobster tail" and the "seafood stuffed lobster tail." It usually comes with roasted green beans and mushrooms (one of their newer side dishes) and mashed potatoes, but I didn't want mashed potatoes, so got steamed broccoli instead. All the mains also came with a starter salad (your choice of Caesar or Garden). I got the garden salad. The garden salad was mostly iceberg lettuce! Maybe I'm a salad snob, but I consider iceberg lettuce to be a lowest common denominator cheapie filler lettuce. I would have much preferred a spring mix. It did have some shredded carrots, red cabbage, red onions, grape tomatoes and croutons in it as well. Surprisingly though, they had a "champagne vinaigrette" as one of the dressing options (the others were shall I say, in line with an iceberg lettuce salad, i.e. French, Ranch, Thousand Island, etc.). Needless to say, I chose the "champagne vinaigrette" and it was amazing. It was a bit sweet and a bit citrusy. It wasn't fizzy, but had an effervescent quality to it. So I wasn't too thrilled about the salad, but loved the salad dressing! As for my main, it was salty! The creamy shrimp sauce was too salty, but otherwise the flavour was good, and they were generous with the shrimp. The "seafood stuffing" tasted to me to be mostly rice, cheese and broccoli. I couldn't taste or see any seafood in it. The lobster tails themselves were also really salty. My roasted green beans and mushrooms side had 1 slice of mushroom the size of my thumbnail. I would have liked more mushrooms, but overall it was ok. It was not too salty nor too greasy. The steamed broccoli were fine. I think they put them in the oven briefly after steaming them, as they tasted a bit dry, which is of course much better than sopping wet. I like that they weren't swimming in oil or butter like at some places. The complimentary biscuits were so salty! However, they were hot and had a nice texture. My husband and father-in-law both felt that their lobsters were somewhat rubbery and lacked flavour (they had their whole lobsters steamed). Service was very good. Our server was friendly and checked up on us appropriately. Red Lobster is a big chain restaurant that lots of people go to to celebrate birthdays and other such events. We had 2 large birthday groups seated near us and one of the groups was a bit loud bordering on rowdy. Overall, Red Lobster is not really my cup of tea, but it was ok. I was actually pleasantly surprised by the "champagne vinaigrette" and the pina colada dipping sauce that came with the Coconut Shrimp. I'm happy to see this kind of creativity at Red Lobster. This location is in a strip mall on Merivale Road. Lots of free parking.

Lobster meal.... stingy on the rice. Not a red lobster at all.

Worst lobster in Ottawa. The lobster meat was gross. It was not sweet, tasty meat at all. The lobster was a weird brownish color. I always look forward to the lobster claws but unfortunately, upon cracking into both claws, the meat was gushy, fishy tasking and nasty. I actually had to spit it out. It was too gushy to eat. It must have been undercooked or something...the lobster tail was like eating tasteless rubber. I was already disappointed with my meal, and while I was paying, the waitress proceeded to tell me that they have been experiencing issues with their lobster tank, and that most of the lobsters have been dying..... sooooo did it just eat a sick lobster? Maybe that explains why it was so nasty?!? I felt so sick after hearing that. Save your money!!! Go to La Favorita on Preston street for good lobster.

I think I'll always love red lobster, but it seems like every time I go there I'm highly disappointed with food proportions. Could be that the plate is huge and they hardly put food on the plate. This time around I went for the new ultimate feast $35.99, where you can choose what's going to go on your plate from a set list. When my plate arrived at the table I was excited till I saw what my plate actually looked like. $35.99 for this!? (Plus not pictured another small rectangular dish like the one pictured but with lobster Mac n cheese). I didn't order rice, but if you're going to throw it on the plate might as well add more than that.

Amazing food and service The ambiance was great and it was worth the drive from Montreal. If you are a big eater you will be happy because the plates are big. They also have a full bar and they make very good drinks. Wish we still had Red Lobster restaurant in QC

Ok. Ten years ago I visit This same place and SWORE because of the over salted food there, I was never going back. Tonight July 20th 2019 I stupidity return. First up, I ordered the fish n chips. A simple meal. How could you mess it up? Well the first serving came and I realize I been cheated and had to beg for more fries. There were ONLY 13 lonely French fries on my plate for a 14.99 meal? With the fries being the second side you can choose. The server smile understandly and brought me more. I shouldn't have asked for more fries. My second big big mistake. The french fries and my fish was so heavierly salted I literally choked. My lips were actually burning red from the salt. I could even touch the fries and my fingers got cover with salt. My fish might have been great, but no way to tell. IT WAS COVERED WITH SALT. Nothing changed at this place in the last 10yrs. Why did I go back? Must be the same cook with an string of salt trucks out back. My spouse shrimp were the same. Way too much sodium. Everything she had was overloaded with salt. Ugh. What the heck Red Lobster? Maybe you have to drink beer to wash the salt down with. I SWEAR never again Red Lobster, Merivale Nepean. Terrible terrible terrible way to serve your meals. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Throw away the salt from the kitchen, your salty chef drowns the meals with it. Besides that. Nice service. But I did not go there for the service. So disappointed btw. I edited. Look at the 2 weeny fish pieces. Rather small too. Lucky they were. I could have died from a sodium overdose.

    Calamari with fried veggies

I had always been looking to try Red Lobster, and finally got the chance. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and was pleasantly surprised when a plate of cheddar biscuits arrived with our drinks! they were fresh out of the oven, and very yummy, although I wouldn't recommend eating more than one, as they are filling. The appetizer that we chose was the Calamari, and I loved it! Not only did the Calamari taste fresh and not frozen, but it also includes fried peppers and broccoli which were very delicious. For the main I went with the chicken tacos, and my counterparts went with the Lobster dinner, and Shrimp dinners. Tasting a few bites of the lobster, it was phenomenal! The shrimp was quIte good as well although it could have been warmer. My chicken Tacos were very yummy and I lIked the jalapeño aioli included on top. The fresh pico de galo salsa was also terrific. The side Caesar salad was quite average but good. For dessert we all shared the chocolate cake and ice cream. It was a decadent cake and tasted as if it was home made! The service was very good, and we enjoyed a nice conversation with our server! I totally recommend this place for anyone who has a love for seafood, as there menu has a wide variety of options. They also have many options that do not include seafood if you decide to opt for that (like I did). I will definitely be going back, and highly suggest this place a date night, or night out with the family. Red Lobster also offers a take-out/order in menu which has a wide variety of great selections!

I usually get a latte there but decided on a regular one, that was a mistake. Their food did taste good, and their chutney was still delicious but the service was a bit gruff. They weren't rude by any means but I was ignored for 10 mins just waiting to ask for a takeout box. I could tell he was a bit overwhelmed and probably having an off morning, so I didn't take it personally. But when I'm paying $30 for one breakfast bowl and a coffee, I'd expect more than 2 cherry tomatoes cut in half and a few mushrooms in it. The food is delicious but you're definitely overpaying and 50/50 on the coffee lol

All the nearby spots are reserved for the apartment dwellers in the building. Ordered a Huevo Ranchero ($16) - which came with scrambled eggs two corn tortillas with salsa, cheese, sour cream and a side order of fries. The eggs could have used some seasoning even with salsa it needed something extra A Vegan Breakfast Bowl ($14) - a mixture of tofu, spinach, mushrooms and tomato chutney - which somehow tasted to all 4 of us like onion chutney. The vegetables done good, but tofu again had just no flavour. Tofu had a spice rub all over, but it tasted like plain tofu. The Bacun strips were rice paper rolls with some attempted flavours but none came through. And two Vegan Bennies ($16) - a super grainy slice of bread topped with the same tofu, green onions, Bacun and some red pepper strips (NOT Coulis as described in the menu). If some person was having a tofu dish for the first time I think they would describe tofu as no flavour at all. We vegans know that you can do amazing things with Tofu. The home fries in the above dishes was the best - now that we could give 5 out 5. All of us had to go and get Sriracha and Ketchup from the counter to rescue the dishes. Coffee was too weak as well. When you go in and order on the counter and you get food delivered to your table. Should the restaurant still offer to tip on the machine BEFORE even we were served? The order did take a long time, the table not clean when we sat, no condiments on the table and coffee refills slow. An extra star for giving tons of vegan options

The Long Version: The Alembic Stillhouse is the restaurant/pub attached to the Cartier Suites Hotel. It has the usual pub fare like fish and chips, burgers, chicken fingers, etc. but it also has some Latin American dishes like arepas, tequenos, tostones and churros. My husband and I had dinner here and it was overall really good. I had the Arepa with Soup ($15) and added a second arepa for an additional $9. I got the Pabellon and Reina arepas. The soup of the day was tomato basil. My husband had the fish and chips ($18). I really enjoyed my arepas. The Pabellon was layered with shredded beef and feta cheese on top (the open end), and black beans and plantains on the bottom (the closed end). The Reina had the filling uniformly distributed - pieces of lean chicken breast mixed with avocado and cilantro crema. The corn meal arepa shell was crispy on the outside and held the fillings very well. I can't even decide which one I liked better because both were so good. I didn't like the tomato basil soup though. It had a cheesy note to it which I found off-putting. However, my husband loved it, so I gave it to him. My husband enjoyed his fish and chips. I had a bit of his fish and while it was crispy on the outside and moist and flaky on the inside, it had a strong fishy smell and taste that I didn't like. The fries were crispy and hot but were from frozen. Service was pleasant. The place has a pub feel. They have karaoke on Fridays starting at 8pm. We left before it started, lol. 5 stars for the arepas, 3 stars for the other food I tried, so 4 stars overall since service was good. I would get the arepas again. Street parking is the best bet (some streets have free parking and some streets have paid metered parking which is about $3 an hour). There's indoor hotel parking but it's a daily rate and over $20. I ordered the impossible burger (veg option) and the hubby asked for the spiciest burger on the menu. I forget what was recommended to him, but it had crispy jalapenos, and he said it was very hot, but good. We also ordered two fries on the side. We ended up bringing one home and reheating it later in the oven, and they were still delicious. The fries were very good, but on the saltier side. It also tasted like they were brined in vinegar before cooking? The hubby got the poutine and I did not like the gravy at all. It was a thick dark gravy, and there was no seasoning to it. I do not recommend the poutine. He liked it though. I devoured the impossible burger. It was great. Restaurant is small, and with the two of us and 2 small kids (who decided they didn't want to eat anything), the seating was a bit odd, with mostly tall tables and chairs with no backs. There were lower tables by the main entrance, but it was too cold to sit there with the door constantly opening. Most people were taking their meals to go. I'm glad I tried out Burger Priest finally. Moxie's fit the bill. I've been to Moxie's before, but only locations in Toronto. They are all kind of the same, which is not a bad thing. The food is consistently good, service is attentive without being intrusive and the ambiance is modern casual. One of my friends was coming from out-of-town and we hadn't seen each other in 7 years, so we were chatting and chatting and the poor server was waiting for us to order. After several attempts she said to close our menus when we were ready to order and she'll take the cue to come over. I thought that was fantastic. And she was super patient with us. I got the Thai Chicken Salad ($25.50). I asked for the salad dressing on the side, and it came as requested. I advised her I was allergic to sesame seeds and poppy seeds and she let me know the manager will come and speak with me, as that is their practice for all allergies. The manager came and let me know that the salad and dressing did not contain sesame or poppy seeds, but there's this crunchy mix they have that they purchase but no longer have the packaging so cannot rule out contact with sesame. We decided that the best option would be to have it on the side and I could visually inspect it and decide whether I wanted to eat it or not. I appreciated their extra attention to allergies. I didn't see any sesame seeds in the crunchy mix, so I added it to my salad (I can tolerate sesame oil, just not actual seeds, so I was confident I'd be fine). I enjoyed the crunchy texture it added. The salad was mostly arugula with maybe some cilantro or other herb. The amount of chicken was very little, but at least it was lean breast meat. It had shredded carrots and red cabbage. Avocado slices, cashews and pumpkin seeds. The dressing was a creamy cashew dressing. I enjoyed the salad. I was going to get some dessert, as I love their mini desserts, especially "bite of brownie" but I was surprisingly too full. My first choice for dining out is always small local independent restaurants. However, I would never object to going to a Moxie's. In fact, I'd say of all the chain restaurants, it's my favourite.
