Went for lunch on Thursday and had such a great experience. Our waitress, Marla, was fantastic -- super friendly, attentive, and kept the Cheddar Bay Biscuits coming (which we obviously loved). I ordered the shrimp trio (fried shrimp, shrimp linguine, and garlic butter shrimp with fries) and everything was really good. My friend tried one of the newer seafood boils -- it was our first time having it and we were pleasantly surprised. We also shared the crab queso dip, which was delicious, and I tried one of their new Hennessy margaritas that came in a cute shaker-style glass -- definitely worth it. Stopped in for an afternoon snack, and was delighted that not much has changed over the years. Same cozy atmosphere, same level of service (excellent), and essentially the same menu of comfort food. Ordered shrimp linguini alfredo . It came with spaghetti noodles and a handful of shrimp. Shrimp were delicious however i ordered linguini with sauce! When i called to let them know, the girl said "0h yah......i didnt pack it but i will transfer you to the manager. No one picked up on the other end. Red lobster on merivale road doesnt get another chance. Employees are stupid and dont understand customer service and whose driving the boat. This was an impromptu mini trip to Red Lobster. We arrived around 5:30 pm, so it wasn't busy and we didn't have to wait at the lobby area. We were served by young Tyler, who was very nice, attentive and helpful. We ordered the drink of the day, which was mimosas, and it came with warm and fresh biscuits . As for the main dish, I took Seafarer's Feast platter, which includes broiled lobster tail, seared sea scallops, garlic shrimp and battered fried shrimps. Served with melted butter, lemon, cocktail sauce and choice of side; I took green beans and rice. Everything single item on my plate was well cooked with excellent flavors. It was super delicious. My husband and I dropped at the Red Lobster, and I was awed at the service they had. Sometimes most of the restaurants tend to forget or how to serve, but not here. Donny served us, and the food came really fast. It was so delicious. My husband enjoyed his soup. And they courteously added some more bread for us to take home. It was the hubbies birthday so we decided to splurge at a family friendly restaurant. Red Lobster was the winner since we hardly ever go there. We showed up around 4ish, during the week, before the supper crowd ventured in. It was pretty empty, which was kinda nice. It started to fill up around 5pm. We ordered the seafood planks (promo ended), and a couple of ceaser salads. They no longer are offered free with the meals, so the hubby ordered a starter one, and I upgraded one of my sides for an extra $1.29. Ceaser salads were on point, and actually quiet filling. They are heavily dressed with salad dressing, so I would probably ask for light dressing, or the dressing on the side. We also shared a mai tai beverage. It was soooooo yummy. Very tropical and sweet with a dash of rum I believe. I ordered the salmon and shrimp plank with a baked potato (28ish dollars), and the hubby ordered the plank that came with a lobster tail, shrimp, corn on the cob, sausage and potato wedges ($34ish dollars). We both enjoyed our meals, but found near the end, we were all buttered out and kind of regretted eating all of that food. The unlimited cheese bread is still on point, and I would probably just come back for a salad and cheese bread and skip the rest. The mains and food in general are also quiet pricey, so Red Lobster is more of a once in a while kind of place for me. Service was fine and attentive. The only thing that kind of stood out is we were seated where all the staff were taking breaks, so it kind of ruined the experience. Totally disorganised and overbooked. We had a 6h00 reservation which gave us plenty of time to get to a show for which we had tickets. Got there 15 mins early and the place was packed. In spite of having a reservation we waited for over 45 minutes and finally left at 6h45 (after being told there were still 22 people to seat ahead of us) since there was no way we would make our show. Everyone was complaining about the wait, I've never seen such utter chaos and felt bad for the hosting staff trying to manage the mess. We will never go back. read more

The soup was amazing and I'll definitely be back for that when just for pick up when driving by! My husband loved the chicken burger and said it was extremely filling so he couldn't finish it. This place is r-e-a-l-l-y busy!! We went on a Saturday night without a booking, the parking was full (we need to drive few rounds to get a spot). The waiting time was 45 minutes to 1 hour!! Good thing is, they gave us a table in 45 minutes :-) The food was good, as expected from a Red Lobster. Service was good. Going back to dine in, is still a work in progress especially with all the guidelines for Covid-19. Yet it remains a pleasure to do it and with red lobster you can always be sure to enjoy a great meal. The service was great and the food is delicious even with the shrunk menu and limited choices you still can find the right dish for you and make a happy meal out of it. So yes, even with social distancing and the occurred wear your face mask when you are moving away from your table, it is still an enjoyable experience to trying to go back to what we knew as the norm. read more

It's been over fifteen years since I've been to Red Lobster. I have fond memories of going as a kid when they were still around Montreal and ending my meal with a treat, by opening their treasure chest filled with cheap toys and goodies for me to chose from. I've been anticipating my return to this restaurant since I knew I was going to be in the area for Canada day. After much time spent contemplating their menu online and looking at pictures, everything was drool-worthy. I opted for the fishermen's feast which is a trio of lobster tail, fish filet and mini scallop and shrimp casserole. The casserole wasn't as cheesy or creamy as I imagined and I was a bit disappointed that I had over-hyped things in my head. The cheddar bay biscuits were one of the main reasons for going and they lived up to expectations. I had a coupon for a free appetizer or desert after signing up to their newsletter, I chose the giant cocktail shrimps but was a bit shocked to see there were only 6 on a plate, and really not that jumbo. This is a 10 bucks I'm gad I did not have to pay for. The food was very good overall, the only issue arose when my bf found a piece of scale or stringy looking thing in his fish filet- when we brought our concern to our server, she apparently consulted the kitchen staff and came back and told us it was normal. We would have preferred if she had offered us another dish or replacement- she actually never checked up on us to ask if the food was alright, did not seem knowledgeable about the menu and was slow in her whole approach. read more

I can't believe I'm actually writing this about a Red Lobster of all places. This location is how I remember this restaurant chain in the US through the 80s. I haven't been in a Red Lobster in recent decades that was as nice with service to match as this location. The food was cooked perfectly to boot. The main reason for my trip to Ottawa was to eat here and man did they deliver. We arrived here on a Saturday night at around 8 pm and we're told there was a 20 minute wait. We sat down with a pager and got to see the huge lobsters in the tank. Once our table was ready we sat down and started we a ceaser the drink was delicious and reasonably priced but me being me I had to go extra and got the ceaser topped with half a lobster tail. No regrets. I couldn't decide what I wanted for my main but lucky red lobster thinks with you in mind. They have build your own ultimate feasts which let you get a lil bit of everything good. On my particular plate I got the lobster tail with crab legs, garlic shrimp and Walters shrimp and a side of lobster potatoes. Everything on the plate was to die for the potatoes melted in my mouth and the rest of the seafood made a symphony in my mouth. I'm upset I didn't have more stomachs to keep eating. I'm not a seafood person, so I'll be honest...I come for the cheese biscuits. Hot damn, they're good! And I love you can have as many as you want and even take a couple home. Carbs may be the enemy but I will gladly call a truce for these! Overall the atmosphere is nice enough for a date, but casual enough for a low key girls night or fam jam. They have options for everyone. I'm a fan of the coconut shrimp (even though I don't love seafood- this doesn't taste fishy to me!) We came to Ottawa for a small getaway and had supper here. Fair warning that because it's a popular spot, there is a waiting time, usually about 40 minutes. It's quite crowded inside, so you may actually want to wait in your car or at the bar while waiting. If you haven't been here before, the waiters are a great help to get to know the menu and recommendations. While I had the Seaport shrimp and lobster combo, my bf decided to take the Lobster lover's dream, and we had the artichoke lobster and seafood dip for our appetizer. I'd recommend to get an appetizer because there is still a decent wait time for the main course to arrive. The appetizer is a must try, the dip is served with tortilla chips and a side of pico de gallo which refreshes your taste buds after having too much of the creamy dip. My dish was very flavourful, and I enjoyed having both shrimps and lobster. The fire grilled lobster and shrimp were quite flavourful and was not dry. My bf also enjoyed his 2 lobster tails, which one was steamed and the other stuffed, and the seafood pasta that came with it. Bottom line is, the food is delicious and fairly priced (especially being seafood dishes). The only cons would have to be the long wait time, and maybe the very dim lighting of the restaurant. read more

Lobster Fest till end of March attracted our group. $$-$$$. The parking lot was full today which is the last day for the Ontario spring break. This place was easy to find but difficult to find parking at their parking lot. We all agreed that it's been awhile since we had been in one. There are no Red Lobsters in Quebec anymore. Everyone was here to eat their lobsters...although some of them were the size of medium scampi's. I forgot how good seafood like this tasted. Their sea food swam in garlic butter and sauce... They gave my group a lot of biscuits and made sure they topped our glass of water when needed. Although they do have a selection of wine, we didn't order one here given that we don't come often. So we got their special cocktails and liquors. We noticed at least in this one that the decor seemed dated which included their rugs, dining tables and chairs. The patrons were more family oriented and older. But at the end of the day our meals were super!! read more

Wow! What happened to this place. I have not been here for a number of years. Stopped today for lunch, and it was terrible. Had the create your own lunch selecting two items. I selected the grilled scallops and breaded fillet of fish. Scallops were overcooked and could be bounced of the floor. They were smaller than marbles. The fish was breaded and fried to a crisp. It was so overcooked that the center was also crisp. It is obvious that the cook does not know what he/she is doing and takes no pride in what they cook. Red lobster never disappoints. We came on a lazy Tuesday evening, just ahead of a group of 14 people. We were seated and served by Andrew, who was marvellously attentive. Afte our salads were served the manager approached and asked us if we'd mind moving to make room for the 14. My husband and I cheerfully obliged. While I had the manager's ear, I expressed my concern over the cleanliness of the bathrooms. The staff that night were predominantly male and he apologized that no one had looked on in a while. Next thing I new I heard the AM call for a bathroom check. The manager also comped our appetizer (stuffed mushrooms) and our dessert (the apple blossom) . We were delighted to help and delighted by the service. We ordered the fisherman's plate as part of the lobster special. It came with grilled and fried shrimp, lobster Mac and cheese (amazing!), lobster tail, broccoli and mashed potatoes. My husband isn't a huge seafood person and didn't care for it, but I relished it! And for the price it was a good deal to share. We even took some mac n cheese home! I only visit Red lobster once in a while. This visit was worth it. To begin, giving a 2-star is really unfair based on my visit from last time. If I am wiring a review during last visit, I may give them five star. However, for potential repeating places, I tend to review or have a final say after a few visits. As many comments before this one, the services here is really hit and miss. Unfortunately, today is a miss day. I am not sure if my ethnic appearance has stopped the causation young waiter to being proactive for my table. He certainly tried the minimal efforts. At least 4 different staff members made multiple comments that all of our guests had not arrived together and were taking up a table of 10!(Even though our entire party had arrived within 20 minutes of being seated.) The staff were arguing about which table belonged to each of them. One server in particular was complaining to some type of manager because guests were not being seated in her zone. Everything about it was super uncomfortable and poor etiquette. Our servers were not rude but they definitely could've used a refresher in customer servicing. There was gum all over our cutlery.There was a hair in our food.Our servers checked on us a thousand times before we ordered but after that,they disappeared. We asked for condiments that they never bothered to bring to us. They brought one small basket of bread for our entire table and we had to "pull teeth" to get more for everyone else. They added an "optional" 15% gratuity without our consent because we were a table of 8 or more. When we had called earlier in the week to make a reservation(which we were unable to do because they do not take reservations after a certain time on weekends, which we completely understood)NO ONE told us this would be added to our bills because we were a larger table. Our servers did not tell us this after seating us either. Only after we noticed it on our bills did he bring it up. When we asked them to remove it,they would not. I ALWAYS leave my servers a MINIMUM of 15%!!! Always.I know that servers rely on tips to make their money. HOWEVER,SHITTY SERVICE DOES NOT DESERVE A 15% OR 20% TIP OF MY MONEY. Cliche spot to go when in Ontario, the wait was very long but we knew that it would be before going. Considering the long wait times the bar should be a bit bigger , but atleast we do have the option to have a drink while waiting. The bloody cesar was amazing , very refreshing and the presentation with the shrimp goes perfectly with the restaurants atmosphere, long island was ok, nothing special to it. Main dishes were smaller portion than it usually is, lobster was a bit rough off the shell. Grilled shrimps were cooked perfectly. The pasta was ok the shrimps were good but the sauce was very watery, chicken was tender and flavourful. The service was good considering how busy it was, when we didn't want a salad to start we were offered a second side. Food was overall fresh. Service is hit or miss depending on how busy things are. I hadn't been to Red Lobster since I was little, and I was so excited to come here, but I ended up being so disappointed. I even wrote it off as a one-time bad experience and went back a second time, but again, I was disappointed. I came for their Shrimp Fest and ordered their popcorn shrimp and garlic shrimp. Wow. Terrible. The popcorn shrimp just tasted like deep-fried batter - where was the shrimp? The garlic shrimp was just swimming in butter. The shrimps were so small that I'm pretty confident that I could have stuffed all of them in my mouth and finished my meal like that. For $15 it was pretty cheap.. cheap quality, that is. The second time, I tried out the tilapia. I eat tilapia all the time because it's part of Filipino cuisine, but oh man, what a way to butcher a great fish! Tilapia is supposed to be light and flaky, but this was oily and tasteless. Disgusting. The waitress, both times, was really sweet, but it didn't make up for the quality of the food.. at all. Even more disappointing was the news that their famous "Treasure Chest" with little toys, crayons, and other small goodies for kids no longer exists. We had recently stopped going to Red Lobsters back home because the quality of service was declining over the years. We did not have that problem here. This restaurant is the worst. It smelled bad and the customer service was terrible. This one lady was serving us her name was Lynn. She had a fake attitude. She would smile and laugh with us but in reality it was just a fake laugh and we could all see through her tbh. She served us and one of us had ordered that salad with the blueberries and the strawberries (The powerbowl salad) and 2 of the blueberries had mole on them. Instant turn off. We told a nearby employee about the situation. He said he would go get the manager and the waitress in question (Lynn) but it took over 10mins for someone to actually come to us and replace the meal. And the employee never went to tell a manager we had to call lynn over just because she was standing nearby. She replaced the food. So we proceed to eat and the food wasn't that great but that's whatever Flies allover our biscuits and all in the restaurant it was terrible We proceeded to pay and give lynn her tip which came back to 11$ and she just took it and left. No thank you. Nothing. This restaurant is horrible and i would definitely not suggest eating there. read more
