Red Lobster, another large scale chain restaurant that thinks way too highly of itself. My son earned his Green Belt in Karate, so we told him he could choose where he wanted to eat. You guessed it, Red Lobster. Not that I have anything against Red Lobster, but I think there are better places for seafood out there. We were promptly greeted when we entered and shown immediately to our seats. The waitress was with us shortly after that and ran down the specials and explained the menu. My wife saw the crab and lobster stuffed mushrooms and decided we had to have an appetizer. We ordered that and continued to peruse the menus. When the waitress came back she brought some of their Cheddar Garlic Biscuits. These things are fantastically awesome. This may be why Red Lobster is so popular, their biscuits are highly addictive. When our mushrooms were served, we all thought they were delicious. For the main course I decided on getting the pound of Snow Crab. It was crab, I like crab, I thought it was cooked just right. I did find it out that I had three claws, but when they say a pound of crab, I guess they give you a pound of crab, so if that means two halves and an extra claw, that's what you get! My wife had the Shrimp Trio. She enjoyed it. My son ordered the Macaroni and Cheese. Please do not get me started. He picked the restaurant and then gets there and orders Mac and Cheese. I didn't feel like making a scene, but I did tease him about it. Instead of salads, each one of us had a cup of their clam chowder. It was okay, but it was missing something. I'm not sure what it was, but I wasn't impressed. At least three times during the meal, and even when we were getting to go boxes, the waitress kept pushing those cheddar garlic biscuits. I mean she really wanted us to eat a baker's dozen of them or take some home. That was kind of annoying. The service was good. Other than her trying to push those crack biscuits on us like some kind of dealer that's looking to get a new junkie in their stable, we never had an issue. Everyone was really friendly and understanding of the 9 year old that would knock things over. The restaurant has their nautical theme, if you've been into one Red Lobster; you've been into them all. This one was very clean and I didn't see dishes sitting long, either at our table or others. The food was good, but not great. Let me start by saying I am a Red Lobster lover, have been my entire life. I remember going to this specific establishment when I was younger with my family. Unfortunately, tonight has changed that. We had planned a surprise outing for a friend for her birthday, so we had a group of 9 to be seated. Red Lobster offers call-ahead seating, which we took full advantage of, arriving and checking in stating that fact. They told us at the time that the wait would be 25 minutes. There were a few groups of people in the lobby waiting, after we showed up we stayed standing while the seats filled and they called groups of 2 and 4 back to be seated. There were a couple groups of 6 that got called, while we waited we made light of the situation by joking amongst ourselves. After an hour and 15 minutes waiting we stepped up to the counter to ask if they had any updates on our seating or an approximate wait time. We were simply confronted with a quick "hi" from the hostess and she promptly walked away. After another half an hour, and an empty lobby besides us, we decided to call Dos Reales to see how quickly they could seat our party of 9. The said right away, so against all of our hopes, we left the lobby without seeing any hostess or employee. We were extremely disappointed with every bit of our service, bar included. read more

This is one of the best chain restaurants ever and I don't even see why people hate on chain restaurants - you all are hipsters! Some chain restaurants are really good, like Red Lobster! If you want seafood, I wouldn't go anywhere else; this is the place to be! I wanted to go here because of Crab Fest! I ordered the Crab and the Steamed Seafood Bake, or the name was something along those lines. Snow crab legs, corn on the cob, and shrimp, scallops, and red potatoes in a garlic white wine sauce! It was different and I never have had a sauce like this nor have I had scallops, so I thought it would be an amazing dish to try, and it was! Let me tell you! First off, you get a BUNCH of crab legs! The crab meat is so flavorful, but it's hard to describe what type of flavor it is. Kind of buttery? Especially when you dip the crab in the butter sauce - it's an orgasm in my mouth! The corn cob was buttered and cooked perfectly and delicious as well! The red potatoes were crispy on the outside, but not burnt. It was a perfect amount of crispness! On the inside, they were so fluffy and warm! They tasted good in the garlic white wine sauce! Scallops are really good, I found out! They taste kind of like shrimp, I guess, but not as chewy! The shrimp was amazing in the sauce too! The sauce just had a smooth, buttery flavor, with a hint of garlic and white wine to change it up a bit! It's very unique but it feels very natural and not too exotic - like it's not an acquired taste or anything. I think everyone would like it! I got so many crab legs, I couldn't finish them. I had one left. It was a big meal and worth the $22.99. Yeah, the food is more expensive here, but it's because it's seafood and has to be caught! It's worth the money! Plus, the Cheddar Bay biscuits, man! They are so warm, and cheesy, and soft! To die for! But, I guess the crab legs can get a little cold if you don't eat them within a certain amount of time and they take a while to eat since you have to crack them and dig the meat out with a tiny fork. Some people say it's too much work to go through but I don't think so since crab is heaven in your mouth! Also, our waitress was very nice. I don't know why so many of you people complain about this place and other chains. So come to Red Lobster! read more

I really love Red Lobster. It's one of my favorite places. I haven't tried anything here that I didn't like yet. I usually get the "shrimp your way" with coconut shrimp bites and shrimp scampi. Had a visit with family from Florida, wanted to enjoy everyone's company crab fest is going on why not lol service was excellent but I put my order in We had ordered a New York strip and lobster combo a crab fest platter and side of king crab a few other items There was a birthday party seated next to us we enjoyed the company as well Then the food arrived what a disappointment I overlooked it because we were in conversation with family, waitress came over and asked me how her steak was I gave my honest opinion it didn't taste or look like beef, The meet was gray and had a funny taste and smell to it Definitely not worth the $39 it was listed for, I said go ahead and charge me for the lobster in the sides that had came with it .. then I dipped in to the lobster it was rubbery like chewing a rubber band just horrible and gross not to mention the crab legs steamed so much that they were actually soft and soggy, then the waitress also stated that the birthday party group also had sent back their steaks as well And that people were sending them back all day because they didn't taste properly! Very unsatisfied!!!!! I don't know where to begin from the wait just to get a drink to the 1/3 full salad bowl or the tiny lobster. I would think when you call it lobster fest it would be a more substantial portion of lobster not 2 ounces of a tail on skewer with 3 tiny pieces of steak that and I quote "have to be well dun because they are on a skewer". Now I grill lobster and know for a fact it takes no more than 7 min to grill a 9 ounce tail not a whopping 2 ounces so I have to call bullshit on the burnt tiny ration of the steak bites. Thank god for the endless biscuits or I would have had to stop on my way home and actually eat dinner. The only thing that was ok was the lobster potatoes but it's definitely not worth the 37 dollars they are asking for the 6 dollars worth of food. I had lunch with some friends at Red Lobster today. We came in for Lobster Fest. The waitress, (can I use names here?) Trisha, was great. We didn't have to wait for anything. She was knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and fun. I ordered the shrimp and lobster, and everything was very good. My favorites were the green beans with mushrooms and the whipped sweet potatoes. I plan to go back soon to try the lobster rolls and eat more sweet potatoes. It was a great time; the food was good and the atmosphere was very nice. read more

We have always celebrated Valentine's day , birthdays and anniversaries at Red Lobster until I became a disabled home bound. My husband then started cooking the meals at home. This year as we are going to have been married 50 years i wanted to make it special for him and decided on ordering a 2go meal. I checked Outback they were offering a steak and lobster tail for $15.99. Red lobster offered a lobster !overs dream for $33.99. Since being so sick I eat very little I knew 1 meal would serve us both. I went online at 2:30 and ordered our meal for a 6 pm pickup. My husband made sure to take our insulated bag to put it in. He arrived at the restaurant at 5:45. He had to go to the bar area to pickup. The area was so jam packed with tables and chairs and long lines of people trying to get their order. He didn't get our dinner until 6:30. It was getting so late and he had said he'd call when heading home that I checked to make sure our phone was working. When he arrived home the food was cold. I'm sure was due to the cooks preparing it for the 6pm pickup. The lobster tails were colf, rubbery and slimy, the baked potatoe hard and cold, the linguini ice cold. I wish now I had ordered from Outback instead. Their meal couldn't have been any worse and a lot cheaper. I won't make that mistake again. It's been a while since we have been to a red lobster. We received 2 gift cards so we thought get why not. It's not that we don't like it but it seems it's either horrible service or food everytime we have gone and just decided there are better options. Well one again they did not disappoint haha. There was a wait about 15 min on a Saturday evening so not bad. The hostesses were friendly and attentive and that's where it ended for us. So the weather is finally warming up enough to be fine with a light jacket Woohoo! When we were seated we were immediately like omg it's hot in here. Like so hot to the uncomfortable point of eating. It wasn't just us either you saw people taking layers of clothes off! No joke! Our server was fairly attentive there were moments that our glasses were empty and she was chatting with other employees. Upon looking at the menu we couldn't believe how much the prices have gone up within the past year since we had been. It was compete shock because at those prices you can drive to downtown Chicago and get a better meal! Oh well we have gift cards no biggie at these prices the food quality had better improved. WRONG! I'm pretty sure it has gotten worse. We both choose to to do the 4 course. He got the salad, chicken soup, cajun pasta and Carmel cheese cake. Salad was old, soft and turning he said soup was good, pasta tasted over done and sitting there all day, cheesecake was one the worst we've ever had. I got the salad, clam chowder, breaded shrimp with rice and brownie. Salad was sane tasted old, soup tasted like it came from a can, shrimp was great rice was hard as ever and here is where it gets weird now I love love chocolate and omg it was soooo rich I couldn't even eat it nor our daughter. She got the crab legs on the kids menu, it was good portion for the kids but the worst crab legs I've ever had they were dry and over done! Biscuits were amazing though like always! The experience can only be described as "deathbag". At least 3 different people had complained about their food/drinks at the tables around us. My wife's margarita had about two tablespoons worth of salt poured into it (maybe intentional, but certainly didn't taste good). Both of our meals seemed to have a sandy material speckled into it. I've been here twice. First time had the Fish n chips. It was 4 pieces of fried battered cod and fries. And it was absolutely amazing. Fish was really high quality, thick white fish fillet, great taste good portions and actually a great price for what you get. Second time I did their 4 course for 15 deal. Which is a clam chowder soup, Caesar salad, coconut shrimp, and chocolate brownie/ice cream dessert. The clam chowder tasted a little bland, but everything other than that was really excellent. Coconut Shrimp was better than I expected. Absolutely would go back again. Waitress was super friendly and great at anticipating everything with my meal. Thank you Red Lobster for making Valentines Day special for my elderly mother and her friend! Mom is in Assisted Living. Her boyfriend there wanted to take her to Red lobster for Valentines day. They had never been out to dinner together and she was excited about her date! I called the restaurant and they suggested coming the day before the holiday as they would be very busy on Sun. I made reservations at 5pm on Sat and said the couple would not be able to stand and wait long. When we arrived, the place was packed with people waiting to be seated. To my surprise and relief, they were seated within a few minutes, and the hostess assisted with the walker. The menu was overwhelming for them, so I helped Mom select a drink and told them to have the waitress recommend an entree. Then I left them to their romantic dinner. When I came back an hour later they were finishing up and getting their doggie bags. Nobody rushed them, and they raved about how wonderful the food was. Their memories aren't great anymore, but I know they will be talking about their special dinner for awhile! read more

We came to the Rockford Location Red Lobster and I was treating with disrespect, felt very unwanted. I always felt that this was a family friendly place, well I don't think that so much any more. The waitress never asked how my food was and when I asked for a box to take the rest of my food home, she told me no. I did not order the endless shrimp, so my question is if I am paying for my food why cant I take the leftovers home? instead of it going to waste uneaten. Let me start off by saying that the food was fantastic. I will be back because of it. I'm giving three stars because of our service. The host was quick to seat us, however, our server was a bit slower. I understand how difficult it can be serving tables when it is busy, as I was a waitress for 3 years, but it was 7pm and the place was nearly empty. It took our server about 10 minutes to come to the table. He was quick speaking and hard to understand. He didn't seem happy to be serving us. He took our drinking order and disappeared. He came back with our drinks 5 minutes later, took our order, and disappeared once more. I kept asking my boyfriend if we were supposed to get those delicious rolls they serve at every table and he said "yes but I don't know why we haven't gotten any." Every time we tried to find our server he wasn't around. Our food was brought out by other servers and we still hadn't gotten our rolls. 2 minutes into our meal, our server brought out rolls and asked us how everything was doing. Then I watched him as he talked with the table next to us. He was speaking clearly and slow enough for me to understand what he was saying, yet when in front of my boyfriend and I, I could barely understand him as he seemed rushed and had more important things to do. A place we use to enjoy going is now a thing of a past. Sadly to say we will not be coming back. Waitress named Lauren had told us when we ordered the ultimate feast that if we got a lobster bisque it would substitute for our salad and then lied to manager and said she didnt say that and she made it sound like we got 2 sides that came with it which it did not. If we had known that we would've not of ordered it. She also made it sound like the lobster mash potatoes was part of the sides that came with the meal which was not and again it was charged separately. So she had charged all the extra sides separately. We also ordered one appetizer for $10. Not only that, we paid tip in cash and she tried to put that same amount on the card for tip as well. So the bill came out to be around $175 for 2 ppl. The manager was no help either. Im sorry but this not a high end restaurant and we never even paid that much for a grade A restaurant like the Brazilian steakhouse, def will not pay that much for red lobster for only 2 ppl. I am giving three stars because of food not service. Service was wonderful considering they started a new computer system that very same day on top of serving very large parties that night. Our wait was probably 30-45 minutes due to the large parties and lack of menus. They were all very apologetic about the whole scenario and everything. Our server brought out waters to our table while we waited for menus. It was only about 10 minutes between the time we were seated and got menus. Not worth the hype though. Lobster was sent back and the second wasn't good. Mac and cheese was also had undercooked lobster and was too garlicky. Not worth the price. The rolls were SO GOOD though. I ate way too many of them. Oh also the salads were ok too. So the bread and salad make up for the mediocre meals especially if you were hungry like my mom and I. This was the last time I will ever go to this Red Lobster. Service was terrible from the time we stepped in the door. The hostess couldn't remember how many in our party (there were 2 of us), didn't know where to sit is, then took us to a dirty table and directed us to go back to the entrance. She then came back and sat us in a section with a table of 14 (who got there shortly before us). It took over 10 min for our server to get to us, while other servers slowly walked around and chatted with each other. Our food was decent at best, which is sad since we normally enjoy this chain. Our server also kept forgetting to give us refills on our drinks, and when it was time to go kept forgetting our boxes. I took my wife, daughter and grand daughter to the Rockford Red Lobster last evening(Oct 24). One of the worst meals ive ever had in my life. We went there for the Endless Shrimp. The mediteranean shrimp was awful............cold and the rice was disgusting. I have to admit tho, that the fried shrimp was at least edible. The service was mediocre at best. For almost $20 per dinner, it was not a good experience. Never again. There are much better options in Rockford. read more

Our waitress Leslie brought us drinks & took our order & then we never saw her again for 40 minutes. We had no drink refills or any follow up on how our meals tasted.
