I was confused when I entered this Red Mango, as it was not like any other I've experienced. It's a huge space with VERY tall ceilings and a row of yogurt machines against one wall. I saw that some cups were stacked beside the machines, there was a topping bar, and scales at the cash wrap. I put it all together and realized that this place is Self-serve! So it's a basically a Red Mango lovers dream. Also, the prices are much lower than a regular Red Mango, which is also a plus for a cheapskate like me... As for the rating, one star lost for the sizes of cups they have. It seems that with the option of self-service, the cup sizes have doubled. This is probably so patrons eat & pay more. A half star lost for the seating arrangement which is not substantial enough for the space and less comfy than other locations. So far I can only find the Pistachio flavor at this location and there was a period of time that it was unavailable so I had to go with the plain original flavor. They do not carry Taro flavor here. I'd recommend the Pistachio with strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and mochi toppings which are always fresh. If you want a sample, you'll have to wait for someone to walk out from behind the counter with a small cup to assist you. A minor annoyance at this location is it can get a little hectic on the line for the toppings. read more

Sure it's self serve but what are the employees doing? They just man the cashier and make some shakes. It's a mess in here. Yogurt everywhere, machines out of order or out of yogurt. Toppings all over the counter and floor. I don't like this self service non sense. It doesn't work here. Unless you have an employee with a mop in their hands all the time. This is exactly why I think self service is a horrible idea. I was with a friend and we were walking passed this place one day and thought "the red mango by my house is great I'm sure this is too" so we went in. Well, it was a wreck; ice cream on the floor, condiments everywhere, and some horrible sanitary issues. Don't even get me started on the unprofessional and rude customer service. The worst part was probably when I saw not one but two middle aged children put the condiment spoon, only one that we all use, in their mouth. I would never return to this disgusting ghetto dump. The yogurt here is good and it's nice that it's self serve, but there are people crammed into every square inch of the small space that makes up this store, which should come as no surprise as there are people cramming every square inch of Rego Park and 63rd Drive around Queens Boulevard since the dawn of the ten million shopping malls in the area. You have to be some what assertive at times to even make it to the yogurt machines. They stock six flavors and I've noticed that they run out of original sometimes. When I'm in this place, I get in, get my yogurt and get back out. I wouldn't recommend the toppings bar. It's also self serve and this location sees a lot of children who are shorter than the sneeze guard and all over the counter as the serve themselves. It gets pretty grimy..... Okay so I'm weird. I don't like yogurt or anything associated with it. I think the closest I got to liking yogurt was eating Danimals in 6th grade. I just don't like the taste of it. My friend(s) have been RAVING about Red Mango and I thought hey I'll give it a try. I went with my friend and I forgot what she got, but I got the Madagascar Vanilla thinking that it tastes like Vanilla. Nope. It just tasted like yogurt. Contrary to everyone else, I actually like the idea of serving it yourself and putting on the toppings yourself. I give it two stars just for that concept and for the graham crackers, but I didn't like the yogurt. I get red mango about twice a week. This particular location is often very messy. Sticky spots on the floor, condiment section as spills all over the counter. Flavors are rarely changed, which is disappointing. The staff is not pleasant or friendly, often you hear them complaining about hrs worked and not paid for accurately, hrs cut or the current attitude of the manager. And they have the nerve to have a tip jar?!?! It's self serve. Will not go there again, so many other cleaner ones around. read more

Convenient location to my apartment. Probably the only place around here that has açaí bowls. For the most part the açaí bowls here are ok if you have a craving. Depending on who makes it, most of the time the açaí is too liquidity. Açaí is supposed to be more icy and solid not liquid soup. If they fix this issue it would be worth 5 stars read more

This Red Mango location is a disappointment. When I visited, it was crowded, noisy, and dirty. Puddles of melted fro-yo were on the floor and the line was ENORMOUS. Since there was only one person manning the cash register, literally half of my yogurt melted by the time I actually got to pay. Really bad compared to other Red Mango locations. They only have 1 type of boost (protein - ew), even though they display ads for all the different types of boosts they are supposed to have. They are constantly understaffed, and the girls that work there always look unhappy. It would be nicer if they at least tried to smile. I first learned that a Red Mango opened in Rego Park when I saw a couple empty Red Mango cups by the curb on Queens Boulevard as I was walking to Target... and I had to hunt it down. It was my first frozen yogurt experience so when I walked in the self-serve thing kinda boggled my mind, but the cashier was very polite and patient in explaining to me the obviously very complicated process of "grab cup, dispense choice of yogurt, pile on toppings". I got a pretty generous helping of yogurt, smothered it in blueberries, shredded coconut, and mochi, aaaand paid less than $3.50! Yay! Frozen yogurt! So exciting! Yay!! read more

The yogurt was good, but the place was so crowded, especially in the evening, I like how u could get free samples, the shakes are tasty and sweet. There are very little employes there as well.
