A while back, my wife and I walked into the Red Mango at Rego Park not knowing it was closed. There was no sign on the door, no notice of any kind. We just walked in like normal customers, and the employee behind the counter looked at us like we had no business being there and told us they were closed. No warmth, no basic courtesy, just flat out rude about the whole thing. We turned around and walked out. I think we may have left a comment on their social media at some point, not really expecting anything to come of it, just putting it out there. But the whole thing stuck with me because there is absolutely a way to tell someone you are closed and still be decent about it. A simple "Hey, sorry, we are actually closed right now" goes a long way. That is not a hard bar to clear. I will be real, it took some restraint on both our parts to just walk out without saying anything back. My wife and I both wanted to address it right then and there, but we knew better. Some situations are not worth escalating, and that was one of them. Still, it is a reminder that how you treat people matters, even in small moments, even at the end of a shift, even when you are ready to close up and go home. People remember that kind of thing. read more

I haven't been here in yrs but glad I went a few days ago. I was torn between smoothie & froyo. I always get froyo & couldn't decide which is better for a burnt tongue & mouth. 1 cashier recommended smoothie while the other recommended froyo. I decided on froyo after glancing at the flavors. I got white peach, mango, watermelon, & strawberry. I didn't like 1 of them much, might've been the mango, since it didn't taste like the actual fruit at all. I always get fruit topping & popping boba. ALL of the fruit was fresh this time, meaning not spoiling or smushed or moldy. I got mango, strawberry, blueberries & canned peaches for fruit toppings. The food is great, employees are terrible. The service was horrendous. I came around 3pm on Saturday the fourteenth of February, and two women in the back had no manners, and had a nasty attitude. My friend was short fifteen cents of a water, and before he even had the chance to take out the money, the two women behind the counter said "You dont have 13 cents? It is going to come out of my paycheck...", and she said this in a very bad manner. After this experience, they began to jump on something in the back, and laugh at my friend while staring and pointing at him. UPDATE YOUR HOURS PLEASE. It says open until 10:30pm here, but I just walked in at 10:06pm, and the employees were already cleaning up, chairs stacked, topping lids were covered. Their front door was still open. I walked in and asked if it was okay to still get yogurt. The staff said yes and I grabbed a cup to start filling. I asked if I could use the "original flavor" machine and they said "yes." After some weird miscommunication from them about the flavors being turned off, I got frustrated and walked out. Why would you leave your doors open and say yes to letting the customer use the machine if your plan was to lock up early and keep customers out-- all under the guise of being open until "10:30pm"? Pretty annoying, especially since we drove all the way to this location and thought we made it IN TIME. But no-- 30-mins prior to closing these staff just want pretend they're open & keep within corporate expectations whilst wasting people's time. read more

This place is clean and even though they were understaffed, they handled it well there's long lines but they were getting the ice creams weighed and done. Edit: I took away one star because the scales that they use to weigh the Red Mango are always dirty with toppings or melted yogurt. This is the only Red Mango that I've ever been to. Every time I hit the Rego Center Mall, I must stop by and have one of their delicious smoothies/juices. I've never had one of the frozen yogurts so I can't comment on them. My new favorite is the Berry Medley Hibiscus. It consists of various berries, mango, lychee and rose hips. That always hits the spot. The place is very clean, has a restroom on site but it's super small and gets crowded fast. Even in the winter time! Two tables and some stool seating. You're better off just taking your order and sitting out in the seating area right outside where the mall is. The club card is much worth it. The girls there have always been friendly. I've never seen more than 2 people working the front at a time so when it gets busy, they get frazzled! read more

So I definitely did not know Red Mango was self-serve. That's not fun to me. Waiting in line forever while people make a mess of the toppings is not my idea of a good time. This location is always packed, so I can't imagine myself making frequent visits. Also, it was kind of expensive. I've never paid $13 for two small portions of yogurt anywhere else. Pomegranate tasted great though. Coconut was good too but in small portions. The fruits - the kiwi was fresh but not all of the mango was. They were some brown looking pieces. read more

Red Mango with it's do it yourself station is awesome. They now have a variety of frozen yogurt flavors to choose from and they have a larger variety of toppings as well. They charge by the weight of your yogurt w/toppings. I prefer it this way because they usually cheap out on the toppings. Now I can add as many blackberries, rice cakes, and fruity pebbles as I want! The only downside to this Red Mango is their seating. Other than that, I hope this Red Mango stays for good. There is a Century 21, Toys R Us, TJ Maxx, and Costco in this Shopping Center. Red Mango at Junction Boulevard is a small place that has three machines for self-service style filler-up frozen yogurt. The toppings bar located in the front and is clumsy, and not user-friendly. The toppings in the back are hard to get to and you really have to reach deep to even grab the spoon, the hood also gets in the way so be careful not to bump your head. I went for the Caribbean Coconut and Milk Chocolate swirled together. When I placed my cup under, a disgusting squirting sound could be heard, and then some watery, milky colored liquid came out, before the yogurt squeezed out. I wanted so much to change my cup, but felt a worker behind me watching. I should have! That kind of ruined it for me, seeing some kind of strange liquid on the bottom of my cup. My frozen yogurt was tart and I couldn't figure out why. Coconut is not supposed to be tart??? Needless to say, I didn't enjoy it as much and also avoided the bottom of the frozen yogurt being careful not to touch the mystery liquid on the bottom of the cup. The scale had some melted frozen yogurt spots from previous customers and was not cleaned. I didn't feel the hospitality either at Red Mango. I prefer 16 Handles much better. The workers are nicer and the frozen yogurt is far more superior tasting. read more

I love Red Mango. This one is self serve. You walk in and directly in front of you are the different flavors for you to get. On the right of that are the cups and when u fill up with your yogurt of choice, you walk toward the register to get your toppings (once again self serve). Sounds like fun until you get to the scale where you weigh your selections and voila. Almost $10 dollars (or more) easily if you're as greedy as I am. I gave it three stars because there's nothing that impressed me and it's just Red Mango. I've been there before and I'll go again if I happen to be in the Rego Park area. read more

Their selection is literally 5 flavors and they don't refill their machines as frequently so there were only 3 flavors - 1 of which broke down was Original.. They don't have enough people working, they've got 2 cash registers but only 1 person on the register. Lines form very long, people's froyo melting and you've only got 3 flavors to choose from. Self-service Red Mango. I am living! Time to dump all the mochi in my cup! Place is usually full, but lines move quick. Could get messy but someone jumps on it to attempt to fix up the place. I guess my complain would be it's too small, and limited seating but, on a nice warm day you could always just take your yogurt to go and sit outside. Toppings are always filled, how do I reach the toppings in the back though without making a mess in the front, must extend arm... Yogurt sometimes too bland but I'm sure that's machinery issues. I don't think I've ever tried a smoothie or anything that the employees would prepare so I can't speak on that but I really do like the fact I cut put all the toppings and as much yogurt as I want in my cup. The only reason I'm giving this Red Mango location 2-stars is because I'm attempting to have sympathy for the fact that the place was short of staff while extremely crowded. Of course at least a portion of the crowdiness can be contributed to the staff, but hot Saturday afternoons should expect many customers. Also affected by the short staff and super big crowd, the floors were terribly sticky and nasty, reminiscent of an unattended movie theatre where gravity all of sudden got a lot stronger as it grabbed towards the bottom of your shoes. I couldn't get upset with the girl working behind the counter though. I actually felt sorry for her. Even though she was pleasant and hid it, the young lady was understandably exhausted and frustrated as she worked twice the job of the wage I'm sure she was earning. On another note, discounting the hopefully rare occasion I visited, compared to many other yogurt shops, this location didn't have a wide variety of flavors or toppings. This is a basic Red Mango with eight flavors and the typical toppings. They also have all the standard toppings - including my favorite sliced almonds and flaxseed granola. I do wish they would add white peach to their flavor mix because it is the best flavor ever. However the price per ounce is really high - $.59/ounce. That's $.10 higher than the Forest Hills location. So they lose a star for being overpriced. read more
