My Husband & I have dined at Red Moon Tavern for many years now. The ambience is so relaxing. The food is very good, the wait staff are the best and it is a fun place to hang out or to have a date night. A few TVs in the bar and a cozy restaurant area. We love their pizzas, the hamburger is one of the best in town and I love their crispy fries. My Husband loves the poutin (rare to find in this area) and the Chef explained to him that the beef is braised in red wine for several hours (yet you can't taste the red wine taste) to make it so tender & delicious. The shrimp & grits are good as well as most everything on the menu. Restaurant & restrooms are clean, plenty of parking and nice wine & beverage list. The daily specials are always something amazing and it and their menu is a little pricier than most restaurants in the area, but you get the higher-end quality. Highly recommend. read more

We got the buffalo chicken pizza and the spicy Italian so that we could try both. The buffalo chicken was not good at all, weirdly sweet and kind of tasted like bbq sauce. The spicy Italian was very good though and the crust was crispier than I was thinking it would be. The place is beautiful, the drinks were great and the service was phenomenal. Pit stop #1 to visit my in-laws on the way to New Orleans. Wanted somewhere low key for dinner instead of the usual food blowout we typically do. Red Moon Tavern had decent ratings so thought we'd give it a try. Here's what we had: Shrimp & Grits - Blackened shrimp, cheesy jalapeño grits ** Part of the small plates menu, but I opted for it to be my main meal. You get six very well seasoned shrimp (yay!) sitting atop some flavorful grits. The consistency on the grits was very nice; they weren't spicy but did have a touch of jalapeno flavor. The only thing I didn't like was that there wasn't a sauce of some kind - it kind of needed it. However, I would eat this dish again because it did have good flavor. Creamy Tomato Bisque ** You get a big bowl of this! A very creamy, velvety soup. Great flavor. A good dippin' soup for your bread. Seafood Gumbo - Spicy gumbo with shrimp, andouille sausage and grilled chicken over cheesy jalapeno grits ** My husband got this dish. He said the flavor was nice and slightly spicy. It was a good topper for the grits (maybe my shrimp and grits needed a little gumbo drizzle on top?) ... He would order this again. The restaurant is very casual. Awesome patio vibe! We passed right through the inside but it was a familiar spot we frequented before it was Red Moon so not much changed in space. Seating slightly different because I didn't see any high tables. Music a little louder than expected but not overbearing where you couldn't converse. This spot used to be NYPD Pizza which we loved but heard it is different owners and some of the same restaurant equipment they used to make the pizza is what they use to make their wings. Oddly, a review I read earlier someone mentioned food tasted like Walmart was quite interesting because that is exactly what the wings tasted like. The beautiful waitress explained them as tho they were scrumptious and delicious. So we ordered and I asked for a double cook but that definitely didn't happen because they came out more light skinned and seemed baked. The chicken tasted exactly like the frozen packaged wings you get from Walmart. They were fatty and taste was lackluster. The sauce that was supposed to come with them never came. All six party wings were about 14 bucks. That is just crazy! The salmon dip was really good but it only came with 4 small pieces of toasted cut bread. Way more salmon than bread. We asked for more bread and they charged an additional $2 bucks. So basically I paid around $16 bucks for salmon dip in a glass cup. That's crazy! Nevertheless , the gumbo we ordered was pretty good. It was served with grits tho and I would've preferred rice. It had a tomato based rue but still deep flavors. The drinks were really good but expensive. I may return but probably for a happy hour because the prices certainly do not match the quality of food. We spent over $100 bucks and only had two appetizers and a split one entree. Seriously how is this pecan cobbler? It is literally a piece of pecan pie that was cut and put in a skillet. Very disappointing! Burgers came out well done instead of medium. Had a Lavender Lemon Drop Martini... oh yeah even if you're not into martinis. Did the South of the Border pizza ... it was good the crust was really nice, the overall flavor of the toppings was just ok for my taste (Slightly bland for me). Our waitress (Elaina) was great... super attentive, friendly and very welcoming she made our experience much more enjoyable. Sat at bar for one last drink and the Bartender blew our minds with taking my Cream Stout and adding some ice cream to make a Cream Stout Float. Great service. Average to mediocre food. Nothing special. Sports bar atmosphere. Not loud but on the darker side from a lighting perspective. Lots of windows to brighten it up during the daytime. Salad was large and fresh but nothing you can't get anywhere else. Pizza was pretty average. The buffalo mozzarella was questionable. It looked and tasted more like processed cheese and not genuine buffalo mozzarella. We weren't a fan of the food. Awesome waitstaff though. read more

Love this place as it is the closest place near where I love for a late night drink. However, I was disappointed when we walked into the bar at 935 for a birthday drink and were told they were closed and that they had decided to close because they were "slow." I would have understood this had there not been 5-7 other patrons at the other end of the bar being actively served. Initially, I was very excited to try Red Moon Tavern. Food looked great. Drinks looked tasty and reviews looked outstanding. However, upon my experience, I was highly let down. The crawfish Mac and cheese was something you would expect out of a box you buy at Walmart and the crawfish was almost nonexistent in the dish, girlfriend had exactly 4 crawdaddy tails in it. Both of my drinks were warm, not something you would expect from a restaurant of this "caliber". Don't let the reviews fool you, not worth the price. Overall, not satisfied. read more

I like the food and think that Red Moon Tavern has the best pizza in town. However, I had a bad experience there tonight with regards to our bill. We had a party of six (6) and they did the following which I adamantly disagree with. (1) They charged us with an automatic gratuity of 25% for our party since we had 6 people. No other establishment that I know of charges more than 20% and most don't consider 6 to be a large party worthy of an automatic gratuity and (2) they charged the gratuity based on the food, drink, and TAX. I don't think it's even legal to charge tax on the gratuity. I explained this to the manager who took a whooping $1.21 off the bill instead to the $12.00 I was expecting. I paid the bill but will never return with a party of 6. The management and ownership need to right the ship. This is totally wrong, illegal, and unacceptable. read more

Looking for someplace different for dinner, we thought we'd give RedMoon a try. ARE WE GLAD WE DID! We were greeted by Chad who's the owner. He is very pleasant and greeted us informing us of the specials and hoe Red Moon came to pass. Christy was our server and was every bit of pleasant as Matt. We started with stuffed mushrooms which were very good. My wife got the gumbo which was fantastic. I had the salmon special which was just as good. We finished with the cheesecake. Very good. Oh my! Our new favorite place ! Excellent service and outstanding food. We recently moved and "found" this jewel close to our new home.... I'm not much on salmon as I've previously found it to be rather fishy tasting but Red Moon serves the lightest, tastiest salmon I've ever had! I so want this establishment to be fantastic. It's a great location for those living in the neighborhoods out this way. I want to love it and have it be a go-to place we can frequent as a neighborhood small business. This is our second visit. The service was okay. Our waitress was okay. The food came out in a timely manner. But the food...Our food left us feeling MEH. We started with the Crawfish Mac and Cheese. The flavors were good but very little crawfish and the cheese sauce component was thin and far too soupy. We both ordered the Cuban Sandwich. It's not much more than an over priced and glorified ham sandwich. It came with potato chips and one side of choice. There was so little pork I had to open the sandwich after a couple of bites to see if there was even any pork at all. My dining companion's sandwich was also very stingy on the pork. I'd say maybe a tablespoon of pulled/shredded pork at best- NOT sliced roasted pork loin as described. We requested the sandwich be pressed when we ordered. Not sure if IT really was pressed; the waitress said it was pressed but, the still fluffy hoagie style bread whispered, NO, not pressed. We had the Brussels sprouts and the greens as sides. The sprouts were overly sugared and far too sweet. The greens were cooked nicely in texture but, the apple cider vinegar notes were over powering the greens. I only ate half of my sandwich as did my dining companion. We both regretted our choice of entree. It's unfortunate to not be in the 4-5 star great review group on this one. Strong start: Reservations were quickly honored on a Satuday night. The lentil soup, the mushrooms, and the cheese grits were excellent. Our friend liked her dessert, we didnt have any. However, my wife didnt care for the wings or her soup (tomato I think). I ordered a Cuban sandwich but maybe I shouldnt have since I was raised in Cuba and Miami and have had many over the years. Cuban sandwiches come with melted swiss cheese and with at least 2 or 3 pickles. My had no cheese at all and, if I recall correctly, 1 pickle. Worse yet, I mentioned it to waiter who went to "check in the kitchen" and never came back to the table. After more than a reasonable wait I asked another waitress and the owner showed up promptly. He was very nice and gave me some choices but the taste of an unwanted ham and pork sandwich had ruined my apetite. So, he comped the sandwich.The pizzas at the tables around us looked good and next time I will try them or a hamburger, along with the lentil soup. Forgot to mention that, my wife ordered the shrimp gumbo. I never developed a taste for gumbo, but this was excellent, the best I ever had. read more

Great meal and drinks! This place is a great asset to northwest Little Rock. We had spinach artichoke dip, the pasta special, kale salad, beer, and a cocktail. The cocktail was delicious (a take on a Moscow mule), dip was rich and creamy, pasta was surprisingly light (despite a Cajun cream sauce), and kale salad with chicken was salad perfection. The service was quick and attentive. We also got a to go order of wings, a burger, and dessert to take home to kids. This was our first time to enter this establishment but it definitely will not be our last. It was way more than I expected. The atmosphere is very cozy, black and red decor that sets the mood. The hostess and the waitress was very kind and polite. We ordered the spinach and the artichoke dip and it was fantastic. We both had a blackberry and sage margarita. A very good decision on the drinks. For our entrees, I ordered the Seafood Gumbo and he ordered the supreme pizza. Both were amazing.
