I wanted to purchase some jams to bring back home (SoFL) so we only visited the gift shop. Specifically, I was in search of T.O.E. Jam. It took a hot minute, but eventually I located it. The gift shop has a wide variety of merchandise and a massive jam selection. There are endless gift options available and the folks at the counter were very friendly. But, I will say that SAF offers many wines that appeased a moderate level of sweetness I can enjoy (I think there were 4 or 5 really sweet ones out of the 20 or so you could choose from). The Rosé Muscadine was something I could see myself enjoying on a hot afternoon by the pool, so bought a bottle. I also was pleasantly surprised by the Lemon Strawberry wine. It also has a mini swing set and slide which was perfect for our almost 2 year old. They also offer water, soft drinks and some snacks for purchase. Definitely bring a sunhat and sunscreen when going on a sunny day. Also the ground can be wet so stick with closed toe shoes too. Tip: check their Facebook page to see if they are open before heading out as they may not open due to over picking.

Easy parking and inside the store we were ok with the quart sized box. The friendly folks reminded us to bend the long branches to get at the top for larger and juiciest blueberries. We see families enjoying their time at the Cool Springs Blueberry Farm. The picking was a bit of an exercise as the blueberry plants were in rows on grassy and sloping grounds. The container is filled, and we are taking ours home. We were glad we came.

So just a heads up if you're looking for lunch, you have to pay to get in. The free area only has the burgers and hot dogs. We did end up getting apple pies and they had about 8 varieties of fill your bag apples that day. 1/4 peck for $6, not too bad! Pickled up some apple butters and preserved as well. Hillcrest Orchards at the very least needs to reinvest in their property. Perhaps at one time they were posh and polished but now, the attractions are run down and very dated. The entire property needs a facelift, paint and a good scrubbing. We enjoyed the pig races, of course, but the athletic area is worn down and pretty darn yucky. I think they can do so much better. Next year, we will return to BJ Reece!
