He just drugs people up and then accuses them of taking too much! Ginsberg threatened to call my place of work and tell them I'm a drug addict. This is absolutely not true, I only took as prescribed. Which is only Ginsbergs fault. Don't go here. Not only is it in a very dangerous area, but the treatment never feels quite right. He over drugged my family. My son ended up in the hospital, me feeling like death: shaky and brain fogged, I seriously cannot believe the way we were treated there. Also you can never NEVER, talk with a nurse or doctor between appts. We have recently changed doctors. We are still ill from Ginsberg, but we are healing one day at a time. Skip this doctor. They don't answer unless you're a new customer. The lady is billing is a joke and calls your insurance pretending to be you before even sending a claim in. Very unorganized and unprofessional. The Dr cancelled day of appt then tried to charge ME $75 dollars for a missed appointment. My company said they would pay for it STILL and the lady in insurance refused to even put in the claim. Then the doctors doesn't diagnose you his show girl in the back on the couch sitting quiet and judging you does. She has no medical license to do so either. Beware and good luck. You can tell they've been around for a long time and haven't been able to keep up with the times or don't care to progress their business in a positive progressive way. Their loss! I got great insurance they could have charged anything but decided to be know it alls while knowing nothing at all. Sad and pathetic especially when dealing with mental health. Dr. Ginsburg is a crooked person. When I was young, he used to write me a new prescription every other month for stimulant and ADHD medication. I do not blame anyone but myself for becoming a drug addict but I can tell you that giving a developing brain (a child) drugs, makes that brain dependent on drugs. Looking back it's crazy how many times he would change my medications. I just don't understand how you can put someone on multiple medications and really get knowing results. Why would you not try one drug at a time and see the effects. It's too many variables at once to know what medication is doing what. Doctors like this are incentivized by big Pharma to push medications. This is a known fact. Every time there was a new medication out, I was on it. My sister is a patient of his. My sister had discussed some of the issues with me and he flat out, confronted me about things that she had discussed with me. He violate HIPAA laws by discussing things with me that were discussed with him and another patient in a private setting. He is extremely unprofessional. Typical over prescribing meds is a problem in the U.S. i'm sure the universe will give him what he deserves for ruining people's lives. This man has gotten countless children addicted to drugs.. It's just common sense if you give a developing brain drugs that brain becomes dependent on them. We are talking about powerful chemicals, entering the brain. Anyways. I am an alcoholic and I go to alcoholics anonymous. I have been sober for two years now. There have been a few people in meetings that have spoken about Ginsburg. A few people have mentioned that he over prescribed them and they got hooked on drugs. Would have never given them my services for 2 years had it not been for Marsha (the nurse that we saw every visit) My son is ADHD and this was the first and only psychiatry place we had ever visited... Talking to anyone in the front office is hell, they close the windows and you have to wait for them to call your after placing your "slip" in a little basket.. I have insurance and a great one too.. They still treat you in a condescending manner if for some reason their credit card system is down, like you don't have $ in your account (please, I could wipe my ass with your $30 co-pay) Waiting time isn't too bad, My son's nurse Marsha was AWESOME.. that is who we usually have our consultations with, Dr. Ginsberg has the personality of a wall, and my son was intimidated by him from the very beginning. He doesn't make you feel comfortable at all, you see him for a whole minute at the end of the visit while he signs the prescription and then he is gone. I stopped going to them last month because of him saying (in front of my child) "You need to be more responsible and make your appointments when they are set or I am going to have to drop you as a patient" I could understand if it was in a nice way but the tone of voice, the creepy look in his eyes and just the way he said it, I felt disrespected..... Maybe that was the last straw... being the only parent in my sons life I have missed a few appointments or have had to re schedule (you still get billed for missed appointments ($42.50-- after insurance kicks in..more than my regular co-pays)...oh and in between visits the prescription script fee is $10 Walked out went across the hallway to a new Dr. office and LOVE Dr. Miller... from the open reception office, to the fish tank, play area, to actually seeing the doctor and him asking my son ALL of the questions and then speaking to me for reinforcement on what my son said.. talk about welcoming and personalized experience.... he is friendly, smiles.. just had one visit.. but even that visit was better than my first at ROPA....BTW.. Had a new patient appointment scheduled, and when I showed up after 1.5 hour drive they let me know they cannot see me because their new patient person isn't there and everyone else has an important meeting that for some reason one cannot skip because I guess it would inconvenience them. Doctor was available but won't see you without someone else seeing you first. Claimed they tried to call numerous times yet I have no missed calls and when I had them call my number on file it rang just fine. Absolutely do not recommend wasting your time. read more

Had to give this place 1 star due to the lack of professionalism in the Business Office and the Front Desk. This is a Psychiatry office and I think most of these folks working here have way more issues than the great people who have to put up with them! They make you fill out a paper slip and place it in a small basket. All the time the glass windows are closed so you cannot make any type of contact with the front desk staff. Notices are posted warning you not to knock on the window or to use your cell phone in the waiting room. When you pay you are treated like you can't afford the $20 or $30 co-pay and how dare you own a debit/credit card because you should be on Welfare. We go here for our daughters therapy and absolutely love the nurses & doctors here, they are incredible and highly rated in the US. It does take quite a while to get in as they are very busy & highly rated, but from a need for great doctors, well worth the waiting period to become a patient. They still only get a 1 star because I believe customer service rules the world and in this realm they blow. read more

I have not been happy at all with red Oak psychiatry. It is very difficult to get Prescriptions refilled either because you can't get a hold of anybody or they won't ever call you back. Unfortunately my insurance only covers them. So now I've been on medication for 30 days then I have to be off medication for a week struggling to get a hold of them to get it filled. This is happened two straight times. And then I have to call four straight days to get them to maybe return a call and in most cases the person on it is really rude. They have in the past said I haven't paid for my Script totaling $10 but then they find I have a credit for over $40 on my account. Now this is the second Straight time that the same thing has happened. They certainly insist on getting paid but the have absolutely zero good help at their facility. read more

I have severe bipolar disorder and suffer from PTSD. In the late 1990s, I had a psychotic break and had to go on disability. I am now 65. I began seeing psychiatrists when I was 14. I have always needed to be on bipolar medication and have required emotional support because I have no family and even the most superficial of relationships are hard for me. I moved to the Houston area 20 years ago and quickly connected with this clinic. Dr. Ginsberg is not the warmest doctor I have ever encountered, but he knows his stuff. Throughout the years, as my moods have swung from suicidal to manic, he, his therapists, and his nurses have carefully monitored my medications and kept me more stable than did the psychiatric care I received in Omaha, New Orleans, Minneapolis, London, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Philadelphia. (Because of work and continuing education, I've moved often in my life.) Before coming to Houston, I had received intense psychotherapy regarding my abusive childhood and PTSD, so when I met Dr. Ginsberg, he and I agreed that I didn't need more of that, but I still needed help with my bipolar disorder (my metabolism doesn't respond to typical bipolar medication) and the prevention of additional psychotic breaks. Dr. G placed me with a psychologist at his office who, when she left, referred me to Ms. Pat Wampler. Ms. Pat has been my counselor now for more than 15 years and is perfect for me, and we have worked hard. Together with her help as well as with that of Dr. G and Nurse Jennifer, I have endured and overcome more personal challenges in my life the last few years, and I believe I am as mentally and emotionally healthy today as I have ever been or could ever have hoped to be. Yes, problems occasionally arise here when dealing with the office staff --this is a large practice with several therapists and nurses, and the office staff is busy, plus there is a fair amount of staff turnover--but not to a degree any more severe than at other psychiatric clinics where I have been treated. (Patience is required here.) Every staff member I have encountered has been warm, caring, and polite. I HAVE witnessed some very rude patients who have cruelly pressed staff members' courteous natures, have been rude to other patients in the waiting room, and have broken rules such as not eating or drinking or talking on cellphones while in the waiting room. My therapist, Ms. Wampler, works hard to stay on time, but I have sometimes heard other patients complain of very long wait times to see their therapists. I don't think this is a frequent occurrence. Because the therapists here are excellent and have many patients, it is wise to schedule appointments well in advance, and for heaven's sake, show up! Get here 15 minutes ahead of your appointment so you have time to check in, and bring something to read or do while you wait--don't plan to spend the time eating, drinking, and/or chatting on your cellphone! Also show up so you won't be charged for missing the appointment. Read all messages posted in the waiting room so you know the check-in process, the rules, opportunities to take part in experimental therapy, changes in appointment charges, the latest on COVID procedures, etc. Be cautious traveling in this neighborhood. Highway 1960 is extremely busy, the area has some crime problems, scatter-brained people don't look out for traffic and will unexpectedly wander out onto the roads, and homeless, scary-looking people beg for money at a few intersections. The Red Oak building and its parking lot are monitored by a security officer, and I have never felt frightened on the premises. All in all, I am grateful to be a patient at Red Oak. I would recommend anyone with mental issues to come here and see a therapist for a few weeks before deciding whether or not this is the right place to receive help. For me, I've received better help at Red Oak than any place ever, and I'm grateful to all the folks who work here. read more

Well if this were a month ago my review would be much different. Because I was not able to see Red Oak for a normal appointment, I saw my family practitioner instead. I never lapsed or had any extra medication because of this. I got a refill when it was due. Next thing I know, they refuse to refill my meds, knowing that I will be running out this weekend, and suddenly stopping one of the medications can have severe side effects such as seizures. I didn't know that it was against the rules to get a refill from my family dictor, but apparently to them I'm a crack-head. Completely confused, disappointed, and will not ever be back to that place to be made out to feel like an idiot. They are highly suspicious of every person that walks through the door and they'll most likely treat you as a person wanting to take meds for the wrong reasons. Find another place. read more

Created an account to give this place some due credit. Yes, there are strict rules including not knocking on the glass, using the slip of paper to check in, even filling out a form to get a prescription (for fed gov't controlled substances). However, they always seem to come to the window within 1-2 minutes, using the slip of paper is arguably more convenient than waiting for someone in front of you to spell out their name, and I for one appreciate their thoroughness in monitoring a patient's medication. Prior to ROP, I had been to three private practices, and Dr. Ginsberg is by far the most focused and attentive psychiatrist I've ever had. His staff reflects his outstanding professionalism. Okay so let me inform y'all something. Dr Ginsberg doesn't play. He is very straight forward. He doesn't talk with compassion so don't expect that from him but it's not because he is heartless it's because he goes straight to the point. He listens to you thoroughly, assesses and then prescribes carefully based on your described symptoms. He checks back with you when you made an appointment to see how the medicine is working out for you and if it doesn't he does his utmost best to find the right treatment for you. Psychiatric diagnoses are more tricky than physical illnesses as they cannot be seen through xray or MRA scans so this is not a surprise. He knows what he is doing and he has helped many people out when it comes to stabilizing their medicines. I gave 4 stars because the staff takes forever when you need something from them. The therapists there are experienced too and have helped me cope and work through my issues successfully. Dr Ginsberg is the only doctor in Houston that helped me get better. The other psychiatrists I have been to in Houston sucked. read more

I genuinely hope someone from that facility reads this. I would send it in an email, but I can't find an address to send it to. I initially sat down to write an incredibly anger filled rant in which, I'm sure, expletives would abound. Instead I am hoping to encourage and possibly refocus your facility to do better. I also work in medicine. I know doctors are pains sometimes, clients are impossible and wrong most of the time. I know the hours are long, the pay isn't great and you don't receive nearly enough praise. I know what it's like to just "phone it in" some days; I am telling you that you need to do better. You have to think about your patients. Your practice is way off target. When you call in for the first time as a new patient, getting a voicemail box to leave your name and number with, isn't great. It gives the perception that you are too busy to answer my call, and you might be! But in either case you either don't value new patients or your office is so busy that you can answer the phone in which case, I can't imagine how long the wait must be, it must be very crowded in there and noisy. Do you understand the perception that can give a person now? When you get to the office and walk in, the waiting room feels like a fish tank. The multicolored plastic chairs in the lobby look exactly like what TV tells us dingy free clinics look like. The fish bowl effect is made worse by the (uncomfortably loud) frosted glass window at reception. The window is covered with around a dozen wrinkled, torn, taped up paper signs about fees and policy. That's real comforting. And standing there like a dork while waiting on someone to open the window to check you in is very uncomfortable for me at least. I mean I'm at a psychiatric office, people are judging. Now let's get to my real issue. I called yesterday and left a message. Called back again to schedule the appointment today, received a confirmation call this afternoon which I answered and thanked them for reminding me and told them that I would be there. I checked in 30 minutes early paid my co-pay, completed the forms and sat there. I sat there for TWO HOURS before someone finally told me that NO ONE INFORMED THE COUNSELOR I WAS SEEING ABOUT MY APPOINTMENT AND SO HE WOULDN'T BE COMING IN TO SEE ME TODAY. I am having a really hard time, hence the need for your services. Mustering the energy to call you and set up the appointment was impressive for me. Getting out of bed, getting dressed, fixing my hair, doing my makeup, and driving; that's almost unheard of from me right now. But I was excited. I was so excited to finally start trying to fix it. I was excited to start working through some issues with someone who would listen and advise me. I did all of that, to be told that no one informed the counselor that I was coming, or that I was there 2 hours ago. And because he has another appointment, he won't see me. Yes I was the women in the flowered shirt crying in your lobby this afternoon. And I urge you to do better. read more

Definitely agree with the other reviews. The staff is extremely rude. They should find a different job if they hate the one they have so much that they need to treat patients like a prison guard treats prisoners. The nursing staff is mostly great, but the doctor does act like he could care less and seriously lacks any personality. It's the type of place where you say what you think the problem is, they have you fill out a questionnaire about it and then give you some medicine without much further discussion. I already knew what I needed, so that wasn't a big deal to me, but I would never bring my children or recommend anyone who hasn't already been diagnosed in the past to go there. I've gone there for about a year now, but I will probably go somewhere else since they are far for me anyway. I went there based on recommendations, but I'm not sure why they came so highly recommended in the first place. read more

Oh my God, everyones reviews are so right on point it's scary. From the closed "better than you" glass window to the posting to not disturb, to the little basket, the front desk experience is very demeaning. Dr G has the "I don't care, you need me more than I need you" attitude. His tone, demeanor, his look, very grungy and dirty. I think he, himself needs to see someone but just has no personality. His nurse's that consult with the patients, are the only ones keeping that business alive. Red Oak Psychiatry was referred to my husband through his PCP after tens of failed attempts to find a Dr who took our insurance. I made the appt over 6 weeks out as this was the soonest he could be seen. The original appt was scheduled for 5/17/16 at 1pm. We were called on the 16th and asked if we could go earlier at 11am. We agreed. On the 17th at 9am I confirm the appt before making the hour drive and was assured 11am was the new appt time. We arrive, check in, my husband fills out new patient paperwork and we wait an hour and a half. My husband approached the glass to make sure we weren't forgotten about and they told him he would be seen in 10 more minutes. 10 minutes plus some change passes by and my husband Is called to a different window by a man who tells him a provider called in sick making them short staffed to just come back tomorrow at 4pm and they would try to squeeze him in then. We then had to spend over 30 minutes trying to get our copay returned and documentation for my husband's employer. We all have the same 24 hours in a day, when I respect your time by accomodating an appt change and arriving on time, respect my time by keeping your commitments. It's not nice to jerk people around!
