BAD COCKROACH INFESTATION!!…read more We stayed here for 5 nights in Aug 2025 and unfortunately our experience was ruined by a persistent roach infestation inside our unit. On the very first night, we killed six live roaches indoors. Over the next two days, we encountered several more inside--including one crawling near my foot while we were eating at the kitchen table--which terrified my children. We also saw many on the patio, along with ants along the wall near the sliding doors. We were unable to use the patio or keep the doors open for fresh air. Management sent pest control to spray, but the cockroach sightings continued. They offered less than 10% partial compensation, but it didn't make up for losing the ability to relax or feel comfortable in the unit for the majority of our stay. We understand Hawaii has tropical insects, but this went far beyond the occasional sighting. This was a recurring and disruptive issue that affected our enjoyment of the vacation. Management said it's "normal" for Hawaii. Well, I've been coming to Hawaii for decades and I can confidently say this is a bad infestation because I have never before experienced anything like this. Especially at resort (supposedly) of this caliber and price point. And management's response was slow and unsatisfactory. I do NOT recommend this resort. Proceed with caution--especially if considering a ground-level unit.

Then, just days before we were arriving, I was informed that we would NOT have access to the two golf carts as agreed and that there was construction on an abutting lot. They suggested we could rent bikes to get around the property (they had some, not enough for our group). I didn't want to spend more money so we made do by walking. The construction next door meant a giant fence along the property line which totally blocked our view of the ocean. They should have offered us a different property for the week. I would certainly not use them again.

I highly recommend renting a home instead of staying at the hotels if you want privacy and a much cheaper rate per night for each room. This did not dramatically impact our stay, but I expect better from a luxury stay provider. Here are a few updates this particular house could use to make it an "over-the-top" luxury experience: 1. Update the cookware as it is showing extra wear, 2. Replace some snorkel gear that isn't fully functional, 3. Add a few throw blankets for extra comfort, 4. Make an attempt to be more clear about what "extras" are provided for the actual unit being rented (i.e. exact model of baby gear included, staples for meal prep such as spices, small utensils, etc...). This is important given this home is in such a remote location. Overall we had a wonderful stay! The late checkout allowance provided us a very welcome surprise given our late evening return home flight.

The club beach was clean, beautiful, and provided chairs and cabanas for members as well as having access to a private restaurant and bar on the beach. It's 180 degrees of unobstructed ocean views and rolling green hills. The adults spent a lot of time drinking coffee and wine on the porch. My 3 year old loved the gentle horses and goats, the hammock, and tree swing. The home is only 8 minutes away from a cute beach town with amazing food and shops. The owners are super responsive and kind. They built and designed this home themselves and they really recreated the Hawaii cowboy aesthetic with modern amenities. It not only is decorated beautifully, it is well taken care of and has everything you could need. We are a tall couple (both over 6') appreciated the high shower head so we are not doing a backbend to rinse out our hair and water pressure is A+. Even though there is no air conditioning keeping doors open and the fans going it was comfortable. We had an issue with the tv, it just quit working. I messaged with Dani and we tried a few things that didn't work. And the next day while we were out they replaced the tv. What great service! We felt the price was very fair for the quality and ocean views. Would definitely stay here again.

The gym is well appointed and has a great water machine. The breakfast buffet is well worth the $60pp value. I think I ate enough sashimi to shut up about sashimi prices for a while. Their açaí bowl with house made granola is to die for. Most memorable was making friends with Viola, Hawaii's most valuable Tutu (grandma) at Halani. Her aloha spirit just blessed our entire trip with sunshine and love. I also got to meet Les from the kitchen at Halani and learn about Taro farming! I will forever consider them my new friends from the islands.
