Red Rock has a large shared parking lot and a giant menu that truly blows my mind. You could come here craving anything from pizza and grinders to authentic Greek apps and desserts to comforting soup to a quesadilla, and they're going to do it well. Even as a vegetarian, I feel like I have plenty of options to choose from. Service is always friendly and helpful, even when asking for substitutions. Their rewards program is great and adds up pretty quickly. Here are some highlights about a few menu items I've tried over the years: - Eggplant parm grinder: delicious, crunchy bread and tons of melted cheese - no longer available, but I really loved their Caesar Veggie Patty sandwich they used to have on a fresh ciabatta roll. I'd get it for takeout all the time during the pandemic, and it was a great meatless option with a unique flavor blend. Please bring this back!! - Tater tot side: tastes like McDonald's hash browns in the best way possible, so light and fluffy. I could probably eat a bucket of these and they were cooked to perfection! - Side salads / any salad: always fresh, and the parmesan peppercorn dressing is my favorite version of it I can get anywhere! - Meatless wings (aka cauliflower bites): tons of sauces to choose from, and a unique offering I don't see often. The portion is huge! I love the parmesan garlic option but they're quite oily, so if you're getting takeout, beware - and have friends to split with because you'll get a ton! Tasty but I never need more than a few pieces worth - great to share. I also got a margarita flight today for their Sunday special, making it only $12 for 3 flavors that you can choose. They were sweet and not too boozy tasting, yet strong, and went down easily - I was impressed! Their beer and drink special menu is always changing and I can always find quality and unique offerings. The only thing I'd wish would be different is the ambiance. It's just always so dang dark in here, it makes me tired and feel like I'm in a much divier place than I am. They also always have this habit of seating you directly across from the one or two other occupied booths, so it feels like your neighbor can hear everything you're saying when it's not as busy. I really hate that and would appreciate more privacy! We also hate when we're seated in the first room by the entrance - it feels like such an afterthought, and sometimes staff is sitting in a booth right near you rolling silverware...just seems like you're not supposed to be there. Some of the booths by the bar are really small, and even when I'm the only one on my side, it feels like I'm about to fall out sideways, so I ask for a larger booth. The food and menu options here are truly great! My family requests to come here often. I just desperately want another light fixture or two and some more personal space while dining. Happy hour specials are also great, but they're not joking when they say you HAVE to sit at the bar for them! If you're a wing person, this is the place to go. I feel like regulars gate-keep this spot and I've been guilty of gatekeeping for some time now, but it's really one of the best wing spots in Windham county. They have dozens of flavors for your wings, Simon (the manager or owner) treats customers like they're family, the servers are always welcoming and patient with newcomers. This was one of my favorite places as a UConn student, and on the rare occasions I'm back in the area I like stopping back in. Menu is way expanded from when I was in school, but I come simply for the wings. We all ordered a different flavor and split them along with fries and onion rings which were all huge portions. We ordered from their lunch menu and had a Mediterranean chicken salad. I liked the amount of spice that was on the chicken. It was very good. My daughter had the cheeseburger sliders and she enjoyed them with french fries and actually had leftovers to bring home. Her boyfriend had quesadilla. He also enjoyed his lunch. We are in town visiting my son at UCONN and we decided to give Red Rock Cafe a go. I must say the place was pretty busy. The staff is extremely is extremely pleasant, everyone we came in contact with. However as soon as you walk in, I did not get the greatest impression of the restaurant itself, excluding staff, restaraunt itself didn't give off clean vibes. But the boys wanted to try it so we continued on. The menu is very big and so much to choose from that you get a bit overwhelmed. I opted to have the chicken wings, they had 64+ flavors to choose from. I had the mango pineapple. It was good. The wings were juicy, tender, and you could taste the mango pineapple a little bit, and I'm content that they were not drowned in the sauce. My husband had a bacon burger without lettuce,tomato,onion and came out perfectly. The waffle fries are a bit greasy but no worries none were left at the end of the meal. My son had the same bacon burger but with all the finishes and he enjoyed his as well. The sodas though ... I had a ginger ale- disgusting! My husband and son both ordered cokes and each one tasted differently so we sent one back and now it tasted ok - the weirdest thing ever since it's out of the same machine / not sure if it's from dirty cups or what ! I visited Red Rock Cafe on a Saturday evening and it was pretty empty because there was a basketball game going on. Despite this, we were seated next to the kitchen and counter where servers picked up the meals to be served. Our service was pretty quick, but the food was only okay. My pasta had too much salt, and the Buffalo chicken soup was absolutely disgusting and tasted like ketchup. The worst part of my dining experience was the atmosphere of my surroundings; the floor was dirty, and staff was sitting at tables right next to us sorting cutlery and talking loudly about their personal drama. I felt awkward having conversations with my dining partner and commenting on the food with the servers right next to me. When our food arrived at the counter, another server went to go pick up the food and our server yelled over to her, "she got the pasta and he got the burger", which felt highly unprofessional. read more

Nice place just off campus at UConn. It seems to be a local favorite place to go as it has been busy every time we come here. 20 min wait but it was move- in day after the holiday break. Once we were in and ordered our food, the meals came out quickly. 10 minute ticket time is really good especially with the place so busy. I had the special, western burger. Fried egg, onion, peppers and ham. Only complaint would be to have them fry the ham a bit before putting it on the burger. It was a really good bite. Also should have asked for mustard or mayo for a little more moisture and depth. We will come back again, hopefully without the wait, but it was good. read more

We ordered the cheeseburger pizza and when we got home and opened the box we're extremely disappointed. The entire pizza was absolutely covered in lettuce. I went for dinner with my grandson. He got 2 different flavor of chicken wings and fries. He said they were great and his beer was very good. I got the scallops and fries. I ate 4 scallops they were awful. They were very hard and rubbery. My wine and fries were very good. When we were done she asked if I would like a to go container I said no as they were awful and I couldn't eat them. She said she was sorry they weren't very good. What upset me was I was still charged $27 for a dinner I didn't eat so I suggest if you go here don't get the scallops. Or any expensive fish type food as that's a lot of money to throw away. I hadn't been to Red Rock despite living in the area- one night we decided to try it despite the yelp rating and I'm really glad we did! I got a california Asian salad that was big enough to feed me 3 times over, we got the boneless wings which were massive chicken tenders in a garlic chipotle sauce. Cowboy quesadilla was good! Welcome to 2019! Here, we update our systems to be efficient or we use good ole fashion *common sense* and courtesy! Instead, Red Rock has an online ordering system that allows you to order for delivery even if you are outside the "delivery area"... totally fine. They recommend calling AFTER you've placed the order to confirm, and so I promptly rang the business to make sure that we weren't imposing. I simply called and asked, "Hi, I placed an order online for delivery but wanted to check if it was okay that we were outside of your area?" P.S. they have delivered to us before.... I talked to three different people who were either confused or rude, without any real conclusions. Finally, a different woman gets on the phone and annoyed, asks me my address, types it in her phone and informs me that their delivery area is 5 miles, and we apparently live *6 MILES* away. I politely ask what time we should pick it up and she cuts me off rudely with a "hold on"... At this point it's comical. So, I drive the six miles to pick up, am greeted and pointed to the wall behind me for the delivery counter. Confused, I turn to see the hostess wave me to follow her and before you know it I'm basically in the kitchen being pointed to the actual delivery counter which is hidden in a back corner of the restaurant. Check out was awkward and there was a joke about the mileage.... when really this could have been avoided if they had actually just "gone the extra mile." Literally. My boyfriend and I came on a Sunday evening for dinner so the restaurant wasn't too busy. There was ample parking in the lot and we were greeted & seated almost immediately. The restaurant felt low-key, quiet, and even a tad cozy. The food was great and filling, no real complaints other than the fact that I asked for well-done burger and got medium. Also, for whatever reason, their water tastes heavily of iron. Most likely because of the faucet for the tap. Raw doughy pizza and they gave me ten dollars off my next order after I had to throw a $30 Pizza in the garbage! Worst place!! I suggest not eating here unless you wanna eat a huge piece of raw dough!! They told me next time to ask for it to be cooked longer, that should not be the case. Though I live 5 minutes down the street, I haven't been here in a couple years cuz the last time the service was so bad. Post COvid I wanted to support...I regret it. Service was just as bad. Saw the waitress twice...no one came to our table after being served our food until 20minutes after we were completely finished eating. My review is only limited to takeout, but every time I've ordered (a couple dozen over the course of 2 years), everything went smoothly. I've ordered catering on several occasions for dartys and everything was great. My go to are boneless wings, which are always tender. They have over 2 dozen flavors (some hit or miss) and some are really unique (wasabi buffalo, pineapple chili, etc). I have ordered a couple of apps and entrees before, which were just ok, but this place really shines through on their wings. Their salads are really hearty and make a great dinner when you feel like ordering out, but not overeating. On the two occasions I've catered, I called in the order (over 100 wings, salad platters, other bar food apps) and they were always prepared by the time I needed them and they were always the right temperature. The staff are always friendly. Sometimes they'll recognize my name when I order and throw me a couple extra goodies. My one critique is to fix the website: some of the prices and add ons don't make sense (adding an extra sauce to the salad =several extra dollars. Pricing issues like that come up often). I also wish there was a way to order boneless chicken wraps online. Like you pick a boneless wing sauce and they put it in wrap. read more

My daughter and I have been to this restaurant many times it is our go to restaurant during basketball season (so you know we are there a lot) We have never had a bad meal there are a lot of items to choose from and there is nothing we have had that has been bad, portions are big and wait staff has always been great.
