It's a decent campground, they do the best they can with what they've got. Many sites have a shelter on them, but ours did not. All sites have a fire pit and a picnic table. There are a good number of bathrooms and places to get water sprinkled throughout the grounds. The views are not very great, unfortunately. You can see the rocks, but you can see the city lights of Vegas. It's a shame they didn't build this atop the nearby hill, which has great views of Red Rocks. $15/night, first come first served.

I love this place . I spent 10 days here and I enjoyed every minute. The site had a covered concrete patio with great views of Red Rock Canyon.

Quick little video on Red Rock Campground in Las Vegas Nevada. This campground right outside of the strip is worth checking out. It's dry camping so don't expect any amenities, but it's a nice clean place to spend a few nights in the desert and see some spectacular stars. Close to the entrance of Red Rocks park, there are plenty of places to hike, bike, rock climb, and explore. Super affordable and we enjoyed staying here to celebrate my Mom's 80th Birthday. copy/paste for video review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rdmQ4KA5Xus

We had a great time at this campground. The site was spacious and pretty level. The host were very friendly and helpful plus they kept the park and bathrooms as clean as they could. Unfortunately people aren't always very thoughtful when using them. The beauty surrounding the area is amazing.

Had a nice weekend here. The host were nice and the camp ground was clean, including the pit toilets. Our site didn't have a canopy, but was spacious, had a nice level tent pad, fire pit, table, and bbq. Nice views. Spent a day hiking in the Valley of Fire, about an hour away.

Every time I come here the campgrounds seem to have more amenities. There are more covered awnings over the picnic tables(although there are many sites that are still uncovered) and now there are little wooden benches around the fire pits of each campsite. The pit toilet restrooms have solar panels on top so they power bright white lights inside that help you see in the dark night. Pretty fancy stuff for a bare boneseque campground. You should check out the camp host's solar set up. Impressive! There is running water outside the bathrooms to fill up if you run low and your phone will get cell reception in certain areas. At night you can see the Luxor's beam of light shooting high up in the Vegas sky from the campgrounds which is kind of a comforting in a strange way. Nice to know that if you want to party with the people it's a short drive away. The close proximity of the fancy schmancy Albertsons which offers decent pre-made sushi and a large selection of craft beers makes campground meals pretty posh when you can easily make a run for steaks or salmon to grill up for dinner. $15 a night. 2 cars per campsite and as many tents as you can fit into your tiny little plot. As this campground tends to cater to climbers you will often see up to 5 tents crammed into one site. People from all over the world come here to camp and climb. Ive met many people from New Zealand,Japan, Germany, Switzerland, France and Canada. During shoulder season the campgrounds seem to be completely taken over by Banff Canadians. Good thing Canadians are friendly as we've asked to share a site of some strangers but now friends because the campgrounds were full. They let us squeeze one more tent on their site.

Great place if you like techno music playing all night. Nothing says nature like the constant beat of that bass and the DJ riff.

They do have some top ropes set up, but they were pretty far from the wall so you are probably just better off doing auto belay. The rope section is darker than the bouldering sections. I am colorblind and had a difficult time differentiating the color holds on the wall. Bouldering sections were a bit easier to tell apart. Overall, happy with my climbing experience here and may check it out next time I'm in the area.

I was at the front desk filling out waivers on my phone in one hand and holding my 1-year-old daughter in the other. A staff member approached us in a very rude and condescending manner about my 7-year-old "running under people," saying he made someone feel "infuriated." While I understand safety is important, this was his first visit and he was simply excited and once he saw the bouncy floors he automatically assumed it was like a trampoline park. Keep in mind we had to stay put for shoe fittings and harness's for my three boys while having my hands full. The issue wasn't being informed--it was how it was handled. The same staff member then told my mother, "this is not a daycare where you can just drop your kids off," which was completely unnecessary and inappropriate. At the time, I had briefly stepped out to my car to change my baby, and my children ages (7, 10, 15) were being supervised by their grandmother and aunt. Because of this interaction, I felt so uncomfortable that I stayed in my car for the remainder of the visit. We paid $75 for an experience we didn't even get to fully enjoy. We will not be returning and we do not recommend this place. Going by other negative reviews I am not the only one who had a bad experience with the same individual.

And, it all takes place in one of the top places to climb in the world, Red Rock Canyon. This event is great for all levels, as it provides a variety of classes and opportunities to climb. Many participants camp right there, so you will be able to meet other climbers as well. The classes range from multi-pitch efficiency, to rock rescue, to traditional climbing, to sport climbing, to beginner climbing, and to building traditional anchors. You can also hire guides to do climbs throughout the valley. The cost isn't much, especially for everything you get. The event also has food vendors, and there is a party Friday and Saturday night. The plush green grassy field hosts all the food trucks, and merchandise vendors, as well as a slack line pit, a miniature climbing wall, and areas to do yoga. The weather during this time period can be volatile, so make sure to bring warm clothing just in case, and make sure you stake your tent down, as wind sometimes happens. The event isn't always run the most efficient. Every year the buses to take you to your workshop have run late, but It is a minor inconvenience.

The other reviews give you a pretty good feel for…read morethe event, so I'll just throw in some PROTIPS.... * If you want to get some real climbs in, come a week beforehand and let the party cap off your week of climbing, instead of expecting to get a bunch of climbing in during the event. * All the classic and easily accessible multi-pitches will be occupied during the event. No matter how early you get up. It seems like the whole West Coast climbing community comes out for this event. * Stay either on the strip in vegas or at the dude ranch and carpool on in to the event. No sense in camping with a bunch of snoring peeps, and people tripping over your stuff in a crowded makeshift campground dirt patch when civilization is less than 10 minutes away. * The actual red rock canyon climbing area (with the big scenic driving loop) is a separate state park from spring mountain ranch, where the event is held. If you arrive there for a clinic via an event bus, you're golden but if you drive yourself in for some climbing on your own expect to have to buy a day pass to get in. * If driving in to said area on your own and expect to exit after dark, ask the rangers that take your money for a 'late exit' pass so you don't get your car towed, especially if it's a rental. Let me tell you, getting a rental car out of impound will take all of your money and the rest of the weekend. You don't want that to be you. * Calico Basin doesn't really have any multi-pitch but it sees a lot less traffic than the other areas. You can successfully climb here before/after clinics during the weekend of the event. Trad climbers will be off doing stuff like cat in the hat and noobs will be over at the first or second pullouts doing sport routes. Come here to Calico for some easy to moderate TR's and some peace and quiet. * Register early. The best clinics don't have many spots and they fill up fast. * Get afternoon clinics so you can enjoy the all you can drink beer without having to get up at 7 a.m. * Bring cash. Lots of good deals to be had on climbing gear on-site and at the auctions. Unless you've got a REI 20% off coupon or some Moosejaw rewards points burning a hole in your pocket, I'd wait to pickup optional gear you might want until you get to the event. Ropes especially, man some of those Blue Water ropes were half off retail at the Blue Water booth. Obviously, bring what you need to climb - but if you were thinking about swapping out that crusty old harness or rope, you might come across some deals.

It is a 34 mile loop including almost 3,000' of climbing--both long, slow grades (up to Boulder City) and very steep, short hills (The Three Sisters). Road cyclists regularly take advantage of the well-paved path. You will also see pedestrians walking along the way. The path passes the edge of Boulder City at Bootleg Canyon, goes behind Railroad Pass Casino, passes Lake Las Vegas, and enters Lake Mead National Recreation Area. It continues along the main road in the park, then starts the uphill slog just before the park's Visitor's Center. There, it crosses the park road and the path continues up to Boulder City. Accept on part of the climb to Boulder City where the path is in the flood channel, it is in pristine condition with nicely paved asphalt. There are not many water stops which is a problem for summer workouts. You can get water at Bootleg Canyon, the water district (just past Railroad Pass Casino), and two places in the park (including Boulder Beach). Except for the water district and one of the Lake Mead stops, there are bathrooms at each of the water stations. There is also a bathroom on the path by the Visitor's Center. Almost all riders go in a clockwise direction. I prefer this direction because it is really uncomfortable coming down the flood channel at speed. There are lines in the cement that cause little bumps that are both a problem in the nether-regions and they slow you down. A great workout is to do the loop clockwise and then counter-clockwise. If doing this, you may want to do the CCW-Boulder City-to-the-Lake section on the highway instead of in the storm drains. Other than the flood channel, what I don't like about the RMT is its curviness on the lake side. There are some excellent descents and ascents, but there are usually compact turns at the bottoms of the hills so you lose your speed before having to climb the next hill. And, you can't maintain your speed through the curves because many of them drop 100' to the desert floor below. The views are wonderful. You see the lake during a third of the trek and the Las Vegas skyline during another third. Caution: This is a HARD ride and water is not quickly accessible. Carry MUCH MORE water than you think you'll need. I experienced true thirst only once in my life and it was on this path. Also, I've had to stop on more than one occasion to give others desperately needed water.
