A quick 15 minute hike up to the top for a 360 degree view of the area. It was a beautiful day and I will probably make this hike whenever I come out here. For little kids, there is a huge park playground area. Lots of families and dogs.

Really like this park because it incorporates a playground, path to run or walk, and a mountain that has varying hiking levels varying from easy to moderate for a peak of this type and scale and for a neighborhood park. I went on New Year's Day around 8am and there were quite a number of visitors who weren't bothered by the morning rain. It is pretty well kept, fairly clean with an exception of some dog droppings (there are poop bags conveniently placed on poles throughout the park), and safe.

This place is so cute and perfect for the kiddos to play and parents! PLENTY of shade and has a bit of everything! Lots of play structures and slides, sand area, wall climbing, slide that goes through a tunnel, splash pad area, open grass area, picnic tables with shade. Grass area is so green and well maintained! Even with the Vegas heat the kids were able to enjoy themselves and burn some energy! Definitely will be returning!

This Park was one of my first 'finds' in the city. Exploration Peak Park. A mix of green, kids, lawns and desert scape. Bowie loved it.

Great park. Family friendly. Parking could be challenging, especially during beautiful weather and on the weekends. From the park, one could go up the trail and have a wonderful 360° view of Las Vegas from the Peak.

This is a vast playground with a western-theme. Several structures resemble a building, such as assessor's office and hotel, with lots of space to run around and/or climb. This is incredibly ideal for an energetic child with plenty of energy to expense and/or out-of-town visitors looking for a unique and free children activity. Every play area is well-maintained and clean. There is a tall structure in the back to climb up and get a nice view of the whole playground. Next to the structure is a small rock climbing wall and a semi-large sandpit with a huge snake and reptile. The parking lot had plenty of spaces and we did not have difficulty to find a spot even though it was fairly busy. However, the bathrooms were not the most ideal and it was somewhat dark.

    Stage Coach

My daughter (9yo) loves this park and it is only about 15 minutes from our house. It is themed like an old Western Town with a stage coach, and buildings which look like a frontier town. There are ample shaded pavilions with picnic tables, man made hills to play on and a "mountain" about 350 higher than the park with hiking trails. The bathrooms are extraordinarily clean for a public park and include changing stations. It is very hot and sunny in the play area so be sure to bring plenty of water and sun block. The parking is good during the week and there is overflow parking on side streets when the lot is full. As always, keep your eyes on your kids and have a secret word test only you and your child know in case someone tries to spirit them away.

Great easy sunrise hike. A little windy at the top, so bring your jacket! Even in the warmer end of summer. Beautiful views, pretty park, easy signage and parking.

Love that we have so many trails to choose from in Vegas! PATH TO THE TOP / REWARD: Exploration Peak Park has one goal - get you to the top where you're rewarded with a beautiful 360 degree view of Vegas - and many paths to get there (moderate or steep). TERRAIN: The trail does have loose rock, so make sure you wear proper shoes with enough grip. PAVED: For those who prefer a less rocky, more even path, there is also a nice relaxing paved path. DISTANCE / DURATION: The unpaved path is about 2 miles total from the base to the top and back. It takes around 40 minutes total, conservatively. I haven't yet done the paved path but will update my review if / when I do :) PLAYGROUND: Exploration Peak Park also has a huge playground for kids. So if you're looking for a place for the kids to run around, this is perfect for them. It's super cute and has a lot to do. PARKING: There's a parking lot with plenty of free parking right as you enter the park. OVERALL: Definitely keeping on my list of "go-to for hikes/walks"!

This is a fantastic park for kids and adults who still act like kids. From the massive jungle gym to the slides, the sand pit and walking trails; there are tons of things to do here. My kids especially loved the western themed slide area and the swings. We had to literally rip my daughter off of her swing and drag my son off the rocks behind the sand pit. After an hour of playing, my son and I decided to climb the hill behind the playground. We took the short route and scaled straight up the steep side of the mountain. He's only 5 and still hoofed it up there with ease. Me on the other-hand, I was breathing like Tony Soprano after devouring a tray of gabagool. I don't live in Vegas anymore, but if I did, this would be a weekly must visit for our family. Let's get those kids tuckered out!

Pretty cool park. Kids would have a blast here. Pretty cool layout and design of the place. Parts of it was pretty intense for someone that might be scared of heights. Large park, lots of grassy areas. Nice little hike to the top which can get nice panoramic views of Vegas. Would come back here to walk my dog and chill if I lived here.

Ask the Community - Exploration Peak Park

Is there certain time for the splash pad? I'm here now and it's off :(

Are the tables first come first for birthday parties? Do I need to make park reservations?

    It's first come ^_^

    Are jumpers allowed?

I'm not sure to be honest, but I have been there multiple days of the week at different times and have never seen one. So, I would say no?

Is there a water area or splash pad for kids?

Yes there is and the kids are having so much fun

    Is there a bbq grill?

Yes there's about 2-3 on the left side of the park

    Is there tennis courts?

    No :/

Do they allow ez-up tents (canopies)?

Not to sure , but I don't see why they wouldn't. They have an event called "tent night under the stars"

Are you allowed to hike up the mountain after park hours?

    No :(

While we were helping him get set up, he touched one of the laser tag guns and an employee immediately got irritated and told him in a very rude tone that he "doesn't understand" and couldn't play anymore. He's a young child -- kids that age are still learning and developing at different paces. There was no need to speak to him that way, especially in front of everyone. He ended up in tears. When I calmly approached to understand what happened, the employee continued with the same attitude and dismissive behavior. Instead of de-escalating, she became confrontational, which eventually led to security being called and us being asked to leave. The situation was completely blown out of proportion and handled in a very unprofessional way. This is a children's venue. Staff should be patient, understanding, and trained to communicate appropriately with young kids and their parents. If someone doesn't have the temperament to work around children, this may not be the right environment for them. On top of that, the playground area itself raises safety concerns. There are kids of all ages running full speed through a treehouse-style structure with steep stairs and heavy traffic, which feels like an accident waiting to happen without proper supervision or flow control. Very disappointing experience overall. Parents should be aware of how interactions are handled here.

The former park had a sizeable hedge maze, a jungle gym of sorts (a pole to slide down) with lots of tall slides one one side and short slides for the wee ones too on the opposite end (some parents were putting their too-young children in the tall slides, but you can't do that with babies who can't really lift their heads up). There also was a water feature/splash pad (great for Summer) and hop-along "rides" for the smaller kids. There was a little house to climb up, which was situated in the middle, next to the bathrooms. The new one has wide open spaces, fewer adventures for the kids (like I said, it is small), short slides, and fewer seats for the parents. There is a little jumping feature in the corner- great for children with coordination (our son likes this area), which is popular for kids of all ages. (The sign has an age recommendation.) There was a clerk kind of managing the park who mentioned that the redesign was for distancing (but this was before the virus hit the world as we know it). Here are the nice points. It is clean. There are bathrooms in the immediate area. It is probably better for smaller kids to enjoy.

There's plenty of it, and it's super close to the dog park, which is always a plus when you've got excited pups ready to go. The park itself is split into a small dog area and a large dog area, and both sides were well maintained. The grass was green and mostly clean, and there were multiple shaded seating areas to relax while keeping an eye on your dog. I really appreciated the water fountains placed around specifically for the dogs, they looked clean and well kept, which isn't always the case at dog parks. There are also lots of trees, so even on warmer days, you can find shade easily. There were easily 15+ dogs there during our visit, and the overall vibe was great. Most of the dogs came over to say hello, and they all appeared healthy, well groomed, and social. No aggressive behavior at all... just the occasional male dog trying to assert dominance, but nothing escalated and owners stayed attentive and in control. That alone says a lot about the type of crowd this park attracts. Speaking of people...everyone we encountered was friendly, respectful, and responsible. It was really nice to see that every dog owner we noticed picked up after their pets. That level of consideration makes a huge difference. Beyond the dog park, the rest of the park was just as lively. The volleyball courts were packed with groups having a good time, and the fields were full of soccer teams ranging from little kids to teens. Even the restroom was well maintained, soap to wash your hands, full rolls of toilet paper, no trash or debris on the floor no floaters in the toilets. The playground was surprisingly not crowded, and it looks like it's been updated....there were no traditional slides, but instead more interactive and physical play structures like climbing ropes, stairs, and obstacle style features that make it fun in a different way. Even the parking lot experience stood out... people were patient, respectful, and courteous. One driver even pulled back into their spot after starting to back out just to let me pass, even though I had paused for them. It's little things like that that really add to the overall experience. All in all, it was an amazing day at the park. The weather was perfect, which definitely helped set the tone, but the cleanliness, friendly atmosphere, and thoughtful layout of the park really made it stand out. This is one of those places you'll want to keep coming back to.
