The brisket was my absolute favorite--so tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. When we arrived, the place was full, which honestly had me betting big that the food would live up to the hype--and it absolutely did. Even the other customers were friendly, and the staff was just as welcoming. My fiancé and I shared the two-meat platter, and thank goodness we did--it was more than enough food. We were stuffed and still had leftovers (which I'm very much looking forward to eating again). If we ever pass through this way again, I'll definitely be making him stop here. Can't wait to come back!

Ribs very beefy and excellent. Mac and cheese needed stronger multi cheese blend, maybe a few toasted breadcrumbs on top ? Cucumber salad needed a pinch of sugar to sweeten up the vinegar . Corn bread ok , needs more flavor with real corn mixed in, lose the paper wrappers and bake in pans directly ... or change to a biscuit with honey butter . The owner was working the line first visit and things moving. Second visit : same points mentioned above, but this time smaller quantity of brisket and drier? The ribs smaller and drier ? 2 different food prep guys this time and noticed difference from visit day before? I did try one smoked wing this visit and wing wax excellent smoke tender wing. I think k things improved since the Worcester location closed? It still can be excellent food one time and an average or worse the next visit... inconsistent When the Brisket is on ... it is great stuff When it is off... dry underwhelming... They should make a brisket or burnt end hash as option ... Redbones bbq in Boston used to do a brisket hash that was excellent and unique .

Joan made this process so incredibly easy, she was so friendly and has such great attention to details. Mike was actually at the event along with his employees. He was incredible! Had everything under control and is kind and friendly. Now if this couple isn't the dynamic duo I don't know who is! The food was delicious! lovingly prepared and served with a smile. Do not hesitate to call this caterer! They are delightful and my guests were impressed as well. Thank you Mike and Joan so very much! Bernadette Antonellis Sanders

Joan called me back right away as she had a cancellation on the date we wanted. That was pure luck and the rest is history. Joan, her family and staff at Franklin Caterers were awesome to deal with. She made great suggestions for renting the tent and tables, took care of all the menu details as well as linens, and provided the perfect advice for setting up the bar and provided a bartender. Everyone was superbly professional, on-time, very communicative and we were able to enjoy the party with our guests which was our goal. We look forward to working with them again in the future.

He decorated the interior and exterior with colorful saris and provided other valuable input to help us customize our wedding to our liking. I would describe his food as a modern taste of Asian flavors. The food was so delicious, I wish I had leftovers to bring home. The night of the wedding, Peng Yew made the catering portion of the wedding worry-free, and we really appreciated it. You're being pulled in every direction during the wedding night, but not having to worry about one more thing was a major relief. I would highly recommend Peng Yew to anyone looking for a catering service. He can customize your event to your liking.

Pengyew executed a terrific meal for our cocktail reception at Smith College!…read more We planned a private wedding ceremony earlier in the summer but wanted to celebrate with friends at a larger reception. We had 75 guests and wanted to talk to them and mingle. Pengyew helped us plan the perfect menu. The guests raved about the food and wrote to us weeks afterward about how good it was. One guest even asked him for a sauce recipe! Pengyew was a delight to work with. When you're planning a party, You want someone else to really own their part so that you don't have to worry. I didn't worry one bit. He's funny, yet professional. And the bottom line is that he can wow guests! We had passed hors d'oeuvres: shrimp on cucumber, corncakes, tuna, scallops and more. The flavors were dynamite and the presentation was exquisite. If I lived closer, I'd have him do our holiday party. He won me over.

"Polk Salad Annie Gators got your granny"…read more(Elvis Presley) We found Annie's on Main Street in Sturbridge, just look for their big sign in the parking lot. Speaking of parking, there are plenty of spots in the parking lot where the restaurant is located. Annie's is a family-owned breakfast and lunch spot, opening at 7am and closing at 12 or 1 every day. You'll find just about any breakfast or lunch comfort food here, so even the pickiest eater in your party will find plenty of options. Their menu has a few interesting choices, like three different "Egg White Mixers" that combines vegetables or baked ham with scrambled egg whites and toast. We also were impressed with the Family Style Meals for four or six. We stopped for breakfast on Saturday and were seated right away by Paige. She was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. My wife's breakfast order was a 4-egg Cheese Omelet ($9.50) served with Annie's Home Fries and choice of toast. I went for one of those Egg White Mixers ($8.25) and chose the Veggie with onions, peppers, and tomatoes, It was also served with Annie's Home Fries and choice of toast. I couldn't resist when I saw the magic words "Corned Beef Hash" on their menu, so I also asked for a side of their Fresh Homemade Corned Beef Hash ($7.25). My breakfast was fantastic, and that corned beef hash was loaded with lean shredded corned beef. Two Negatives 1) Have you ever been charged extra for hot sauce? Well, sadly Annie's charges $1 for those tiny plastic containers of hot sauce. 2) Coffee is a pretty important breakfast component, right? When I spend $4 for a coffee, I expect the coffee to be very good. Truth be told, Annie's coffee was terrible; it was incredibly weak and flavorless.

Review for the hotel accommodations…read more When you visit Sturbridge, you know antiquity will be part of the theme. Olde buildings, historical relics, period clothing- all the stuff of retro-tourism. And when you stay at a place called the Public House, you know the theme will be continued ling after the time at the Sturbridge Villiage is spent. It's an after-hours continuation of your historical proclivities, and for many, a welcome extension. The main house smells like fireplace, has wonderful construction materials, lead windows, exposed beams- you are staying in an important place that echoes with hundreds of years of conversations and ales. However, book through hotels.com, and your 1750 time warp lands you oddly in 1980. No main inn to be found; rather, you pioneer your wagon to the remotest of the motel complex where nary 2 other weary travelers have been sequestered, and in this desolation you unlock your door to Nancy Reagan, the Bee Gees, and ET. 1980 greets you with mismatched antique-ish furnature, tiled bathtubs, and plug-in electronic clock radios. Curtains look like wallpaper from Williamsburg- replete with pioneer hunting scenes- and carpeting is an odd green color. See, subjecting yourself to a historical setting has backfired, and though antiquey, it isn't anything other than a mishmash of castaway artifacts, seeking a home in the farthest of corners of the Public House complex. And this is your dilemma...you wanted this, and this you have received. Women in their 49's in 1980 would have swooned into the arms of their lovers, to be surrounded by such immersion early Americana! To be concise, the furthest block of rooms is a woefully outdated historical remnant that refuses to modernize. To the credit or historical preservationalists, it is clean, perfectly functional, and has good water pressure and comfortable mattresses and pillows. The AC may be a little noisey- possibly in an attempt to drown out semi-trucks on the nearby highway, rolling over the rumble strips along the white line- but it blows cold, and the room doesn't have odors. It is like the frilled tuxedo with bellbottom paints in your grandfathers closet; still functional and clean, but slightly outdated. And this is the conundrum when staying in a historical hotel: you asked for it. We did have a good night at the Public House, and the delicious breakfast of baked goods in the Bakery the next morning was appreciated. Coffee cake and coffee were a good combination before taking ye olde family back on the road!

They were helpful, responsive, and everything was clear and upfront. There were no surprise charges, or "gotchas". In fact they did several things beyond the scope of the contract without additional charges. More importantly, on the wedding day everything went perfectly. They gave us great advice on the set up of the tables, chairs, bar etc. They listened carefully to everything that was asked of them, made a couple of outstanding suggestions and dealt with the problems caused by strong gusts of wind at an outdoor venue with calm assurance. All of the food was incredible. The hor's d'ourves were fantastic, especially the brie and artichoke tarts, mini lobster rolls and tuna tacos. The mac and cheese in mini ramekins were also a huge hit. The dinners were equally delicious. I had the half chicken, which was served with a delicious polenta. It was absolutely amazing. Perfectly cooked, moist with a crispy skin. Other sides were served family style and were all fantastic. The dessert was also superb. Each guest received a trio of mini desserts, each of which was delightful. We had several guests with food restrictions (vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free). The servers made sure the restrictions were observed, and they made it a point to bring appropriate appetizers to those guests, which was a very nice touch. All of the guests raved about the food. The service was also first class. There were so many servers handling the passed hor's d'ourves that every guest had multiple chances to try each of the offerings. Service of the dinner was equally impressive. The venue is outdoors, and it is a bit of a hike from the kitchen tent to the dining area. Despite that, the guests were served quickly, and the food came to the table still hot. Finally, their prices are quite reasonable, especially given the outstanding quality of the food and service. A very good value.
