I have stayed at this Red Roof PLUS+ in Schaumburg multiple times and it is consistently very clean and quiet. It feels above the usual Red Roof standard. I book a room here when I need total silence to focus and work and the Wi Fi has been strong every time. Big bonus this location offers coffee and most Red Roof locations do not. I asked about it because it was surprisingly good and I found out Mona is the coffee specialist who keeps it hot and fresh. Great attention to detail and great service! read more

This hotel has no staff. You might want to re-read that -- no, zero staff. The front desk is an AI program. We would give it a 0 (zero) if we could. Room was clean, fine. The front desk AI entity to check us in and answer questions was abominable!! Unhelpful, unfriendly, unhuman. There was no way to get to a person. Very bad. The place has peeling paint and exterior halls and stairs cluttered with trash. The TV audio was 5 seconds behind the video -- difficult to watch. We didn't find closed captioning or we would have used it with no sound. There was light from the parking lot streaming in all night; maybe a benefit? i.e. we could read without turning on room lights? We have stayed there previously, and all was fine for a budget hotel. Sorry for not checking in, but I did stay here on Tuesday night 09/10/2024-09/11/2024. I stayed in room 302. I live in Woodstock, so sometimes I will grab a cheap hotel if I intend on drinking and do not want to drive. See the review left by Laila S., and I agree with her 100%. My room was dirty too. The first thing I always do is check mattresses for bedbugs. I didn't see anything and I also saw that they had one of those protective covers on their mattresses. I also noticed all kinds of hair and what looked like food debris resting on top of the box spring. I noticed because I had pulled the mattress back looking for bedbugs. I was meeting people for drinks so I didn't have time to take photos. I brought my own comforters like Laila S. I took off their decorative top sheet and then laid my comforter over the rest of their bedding which also made their rock of a mattress a little softer. Then I brought 3 other comforters for blankets to sleep under. Red roof can confirm my identity as they took pictures of my drivers license upon check-in. I did get here around 8:40pm and the front desk was closed. So I checked in with some lady on a video-conferencing device. This was where she asked to scan my ID. After checking in, she had the machine spit out my room key, but didn't mention my room number. I had to call back their 800 customer service number and have one of them look it up. I was over dealing with that video conferencing machine. I was super upset because the Red Roof Plus charged me a "refundable" service fee for my room in case they felt like I destroyed the room. How? It was already so dirty. I didn't even use the shower because it looked like It had not been cleaned along with the sink. I'm sure I will have to call customer service today in order to get that service charge refunded. Along with everything else, the floors were filthy. I always bring house shoes with me so I won't walk on any hotel room floor. This was disgusting. Especially under the bed. The bed stands on a patch of what looks like fixed carpet. I will also add that my room was not furnished with a refrigerator, but there was a safe from what looked like the '80s. I was on one end of the building, and had to walk all the way to the other end in order to get ice to keep the food I brought cold. Do what everyone else is saying, stay at the Holiday Inn across the street. In the morning, I went to the front to desk to turn in my key. No hot water in the am. Check-in is through a kiosk that occasionally cuts off and freezes. You can't understand the guy talking through the kiosk due to his strong accent and the machine's malfunctioning. I spent around 20-25 minutes trying to check in, and there was a lady at the front desk who could've checked me in within 5 minutes. Bathrooms need to be remodeled. The shower is rusty and looks dirty due to how old it is. Housekeeping doesn't pick up your trash unless you request it, and even when you call, they don't get it right away. They claim no one is available to do it, although I called at 4:30 pm. I had a 5-night stay from Thursday to Tuesday, and my trash was picked up once on Monday. I also had paid for an upgraded room. They downgraded me and still charged me for the upgrade. STAY AWAY! Unfortunately, I don't have anything positive to say. read more

The TV signal was dreadful on my day off, with the gothic Darth Vader-like voice dominating each channel for almost four to five hours+, along with complications in payments, power outages, privacy violations, daily provocations, arbitrary and sudden amendments to agreements without prior notice, and additional troubles and underhanded contact by some staff! ... This place is SHADY ASF from the employees to the people that stay there, the first room we got smelled so bad (idek how to explain the smell, it was between piss and stale air, i gagged when i came in) we had to exchange it for another room which smelled bad, but it wasn't as bad as the first one, the floors were dirty and you could tell they haven't vacuumed, I didn't even trust the sheets and covers they provided so I slept on my own that I brought, if you do book here bring your sheets, covers and cleaning supplies cause I PROMISE you will need it, if that's not your last resort, I suggest booking the comfort inn or holiday inn across the street if you value comfort over whatever they were trying to give to us‍‍ read more

What a difference a day makes. Not all Red Roofs are alike. Which is really sad. Last nights Red Roof (and every hotel, so far 7 and counting this trip) has allowed a cash deposit. This place doesn't. Now we are in a predicament where we are not going to get $50 on hold for a week. I wonder if we will give up food or shelter tomorrow thanks to this. My wife does make-up and cosmetology for a living and she had planned to do make up for the girls here before we went to the ceremony. We are currently on day 3 and there is absolutely NO RUNNING WATER AT ALL. My wife has been crying since 10AM When she called the front desk to ask why there was no running water. You get what you pay for, but there's really no way to beat the price. For $42 a night, you get a small cramped room with a standing shower and a small sink (but plenty of counter space). The rooms smell like smoke, even though you specifically requested a non-smoking room. The employees are polite and it's ever so easy to book a rate a few hours before you plan to stop driving for the night. Only problem was that the rooms smelled like damp cigarette smoke, and there is little to no walking/standing room for suitcases or larger crib-sized furniture. Still, can't beat the price, although I'd opt to stay at a slightly more expensive, roomier, and less smelly hotel if I had the option next time. We also had trouble getting the free wi-fi to work, although it wasn't a big deal. read more

I have been fighting with this hotel for a few days now about a movie charge on my room. I never even turned on the television on the evening I stayed there. I have been told by the front desk staff on my daily calls to get the charge removed that a manager would get back to me shortly. It's been a week and I have received no contact . What a crap hole! As always the Red Roof Inn locations are great except this one. This is probably the only hotel I have ever been to that is located next to a funeral home. First off the customer service is stellar. They had no problem with me checking in super early which was great and they honored the roomsaver dot com coupons anytime if you want to check in early. The room for that price of forty dollars was for a room that faced the funeral home, an older room with poor lighting, cramped space and the bathroom wasn't bad but the clogged bathtub was a turn off. On the other side of the hotel facing an office building of some kind, the premium rooms are more upscale and offer better amenities such as a comfortable bed, hardwood floors, great television, larger L shaped desk with a comfortable chair. The weekly rate is $350/week plus tax.Other than that, the sleep quality is great and customer service is great.I would stay here again but I would stay in one of the newer rooms not facing the funeral home. Nearby there is a 24 hour laundry mat, seven eleven, an Amoco gas station and some other places. Interstate 90 is easy access and I noticed there are area patrols in the area. read more

Got to stairs then it was some sort of water leak look like Niagara falls no exagerating 3. First room dirty stained smoke holes in comforter. A truly awful experience!! I was a traveling salesman for 12 years and stayed in literally hundreds of hotels.This one is one of the,or the worst.First of all,they didn't have a wake up call!!! I was there for my fathers funeral.It was about 12am and I had to get up at 6am.I had a new phone and had to figure out how to connect the alarm.They also had some antiquated alarm clock were I had to go down to the main desk to figure that out for a back up.I was really tired from a loooong flight,devastated,in grief, and they didn't care! There were low life people hanging out outside drinking,making noise.The shower was weak,not enouph towels.The Iron was horrible and leaked,the ironing board was the size of a mans shoe! don`t stay there,Please!! read more

Other than those, it was fine -- our 2 cats were allowed in for free, the room was clean, and the service was fine. I would typically recommend this place. We have always got treated well by the staff and my boyfriend and I travel a lot with work so when we are in town we stay here quite often. They've got a lot of money from us. The past week we stayed here 4 nights. The first night it stormed so we figured there was no TV channels for that reason. The next night we were told to let them know if we got a room with a TV that didn't have hardly any channels working because they would move us then since some rooms have issues - luckily we had one with the TV working. The 3rd time we stayed that week we got a room with maybe 5-10 working channels and when I called down and said what we were told last time so that hopefully we could move rooms to one that actually worked since we paid to be there. The person explained that there satellite was out of Ohio and there were bad storms there but I think they just didn't want the hassle of moving us because then the 4th day we were told we could move rooms to one with a TV that worked. It was all more frustrating than it needed to be for how much we give this place business. No employee wanted to do anything like a discount or giving us a free night next time we stayed. Maybe they just don't care about valued customers I'm not sure. Also the bathtub and sink were clogged and would fill up and take forever to drain. The cleaning staff barged in at 11 am after waiting 2 seconds after knocking before I could even get out the words "hang on" and walked in on me changing clothes. This was a horrible experience on Christmas Day . Maria at the front counter was rude during check in and actually gave us a Room already assigned to another guest. Luckily the guest wasn't there just the belongings. I went back to the front desk and asked for a manager. We waited in another room for the manager to call and when he did , he was very rude, argumentative and sarcastic . I wanted a refund for this horrible stay . He refused and so I reminded him it was Christmas and I wanted to get off the phone. He made my wife's and my stay there stressful and problematic . First let me say that the staff at check in was nice. I was optimistic because it appeared that they have been doing renovations. WRONG! Checked into my room with four people, the two FULL size, not queen beds were barely big enough. My daughter and I had to sleep at opposite ends in order to have a bit of room. My poor sons had just barely enough room, one slept on the floor because he just couldn't take it. The second we opened the door it was like checking into a musty old basement. The room was so damp the bed linens were damp to the touch. The tissue in the bathroom was also damp. The AC unit barely cooled us down, and when I asked for another room I was told the rooms were all booked. So we had to stick it out for three days. We just stayed out and used cold towels to cool off. Two homeless gentlemen sleeping in the grass in front of the room tried to petition my 13 year old daughter thankful her 17 and 23 year old brother were watching her as she went up to my parents room. The police appeared to raid a room on the front side where my parents room was. Not a safe place to stay alone! I will be calling my credit card company tomorrow and complaining about the service I received. I think this stay was so awful I deserve compensation. I hope Red Roof puts money into there rooms like they have there front desk/reception area it may also be a good idea to hire security! I will never come back. You get what you pay for. If I could give this place ZERO stars I would. There were so many people standing around the balcony partying extremely loud right outside my room window, the party was about 7 doors down but there was so many ppl that they had to stand across the balcony of the whole third floor. You would think that wouldn't be allowed but the party was never stopped. Also my room was FILTHY the covers had big stains you could clearly see and the floors were dirty w paper and so clearly this room wasn't cleaned prior to check-in. I didn't even want to sit on the toilet. This place was gross yes its cheap but you still pay for a room that should at the least be CLEAN. If you stay here check your bed, definitely check the cleanliness of the room. read more

Arrive this time and my room does not have a refrigerator or microwave, which have always been in every other room I booked. Needing a refrigerator I go ask about it. She tells me cause I got the room so cheap the room doesn't come with one! If that was not bad enough the wifi doesn't work. Guess I didn't pay for that as well.... I travelled to the Red Roof Inn in Hoffman Estates for an interview. The room was clean and reasonably priced. When I went to leave in the morning for my interview, my car would not start due to the extremely cold temperature. I was able to catch a cab and go to my interview. After my interview, I returned to my car to attempt to start it again. Once again, it would not start. I called a tow company in an attempt to revive it, and they failed. The Red Roof Inn team member, Jimmy, offered to give my car a jump as well but with no success. I was stuck for the night, and Jimmy was kind of enough to offer a room without the markup for walk-ins. He also offered to help my jump start the car in the morning. In the morning, Jimmy stayed outside with me for over 20 minutes helping me to get my car started, which was finally successful. This Red Roof Inn's customer service was astounding, and I am very grateful for all of their help! read more

Its an OK place for a brief stay--I used a discount coupon and checked TripAdvisor for reviews before selecting. Has great, very comfortable beds and clean rooms; bare bones cable TV. However, the sidewalk to the parking lot and elevator could use more cleaning/sweeping. This might be one of the lower cost yet good quality places to stay if want to be close to O'Hare Airport. Wanting a pet free room? Request or check the room at check in for any previous pets staying in that room. Tell the clerk to NOT charge you a in-room "safe" fee. If you don't, they will charge this on the bill, even if you don't use the safe. The STEAK AND SHAKE, about a mile down south on Barrington Road, on the left side of the road, has great small hamburgers for a low price (they close around 10pm). Also on Barrington is a McDonalds, the only other fast food option for miles. A WALMART is also on Barrington Road, about 5 miles south. read more
