This hotel is decent considering the price compared to the other hotels in the area. We got a water from the vending machine that looked open and the hostess gave us a new water. There was hot water and heat which is good since my room is near the Hudson on a cold March night. The TV works and there are plenty outlets to use. I wouldn't recommend using the Wi-Fi since it's not secure. The light above the sink flickers and, pillows are deflated, and the blow dryer was dirty. And my mother couldn't take a shower because the tub's drain was stopped up with bar soap. This spot is good to lay your head and relax real quick but not to get comfortable.

Wow. Some of you guys need to chill. I booked a room for less than $100 with free parking and it was less than 20 minutes away/a little over 5 miles via a taxi to Manhattan. Read that again. Again. For that reason alone I'm giving it a 4 star review. The cheapest hotel I could find in Manhattan was over $250 and I'm willing to bet you had to pay out the nose to park there, as well. Having said that, there are some cons: --The room did not have a fridge and microwave as advertised. --The AC was insanely loud (I actually like white noise from fans, but this was too much) --My peephole was stuffed with a wad of plastic bag (have no idea why this was, but you can just look out your window to see who is at the door) --There was one bug (looked like an earwig) in the bathroom but: so what? I collected it in a cup and threw it outside. It's not the end of the world. Some of the reviewers clutching their pearls over seeing a bug need to take a deep breath. Other than that, the area seemed safe and relatively quiet. I had no problems with noise or other supposedly nefarious activities as other people were reporting, the bed was clean and comfy, and had plenty of hot water and towels (4 bath towels, 4 face cloths, 2 hand towels) for a 2 person stay. Bottom line: Don't expect the Ritz for $100/night this close to NYC. It's kind of shabby, but who cares? Keep your expectations reasonable and it's a perfectly fine place to stay.

We stayed here from Saturday to Tuesday in room 228. The best thing about the place was it faced some waterway. Room was like motel 6, we had shortage of towels and had to get them from front office. Air conditioning was not working along with mini fridge the first night but the replaced them. Facet for sink basically dangled because it was not connected right, no closet and bottom drawer of the only dresser was missing. There was a couple of places to get "food" across the street. If you want to take the bus into NY, it runs direct every hour from 10th about 3 blocks south. Don't recommend, but it was in the budget for us just on this trip.

So this time on my visit to the East Coast I decided to stay at this hotel which my girlfriend recommended. My check in process took about 1015 minutes due to the amount of activity going on in the office on the pace of the receptionist is kind of slow but eventually I got all checked in and settled. The receptionist gave me a pretty nice room off to the back with the view of the pond in the back which was really awesome and me being a smoker I could just go right outside and smoke. This hotel is located next to a few fast food restaurants, Hotels and a really good spa across the street which is an inexpensive.. However my stay here was pretty peaceful and I can't complain much!! Thanks red roof Inn for your hospitality.. Note::: not to many food choices in the area you will have to travel for better selections.

I had notified the concierge Daniel ahead of time that my mini and I would be arriving after 10pm due to poor weather conditions during our travels. Unfortunately, when we arrived, our reservation had been canceled. Chris was on duty at the time of our arrival and quickly stepped in to resolve the issue, which I truly appreciated. However, because of the cancellation, we were initially placed in a room that seemed like it hadn't been in regular rotation--it had an unpleasant odor that made it uncomfortable. The next morning, I spoke with the manager, Frank Super (great name!), who was both personable and empathetic. He promptly addressed the situation by moving us to a different room and adjusting the rate to account for the inconvenience. The new room was noticeably cleaner, fresh, and much more comfortable. Throughout the remainder of our stay, the staff continued to impress. Katrina, another concierge, was especially helpful in ensuring the room change went smoothly and that we were well taken care of. Overall, the team at this Hampton Inn was friendly, welcoming, and committed to making things right. The daily continental breakfast was a lovely addition and a great way to start the day. It's also worth noting that the hotel offers shuttle services, but rides need to be scheduled with the concierge on duty in advance. One small note: the lobby restroom could use more attention after hours, as it wasn't always maintained by guests. Despite the initial hiccup, the level of customer service and recovery made a lasting impression. I would definitely consider staying here again in the future.

We arrived late and stayed later, with great support from the front desk staff. The room was clean, as was the rest of the hotel, and it had everything we needed. We also got great help from the staff with taking the ferry to NYC and with where and how to best get around. We will definitely keep this one on the list for future trips. The family loves the idea of staying in New Jersey instead of NY and getting away from all the stimulation of NYC/Manhattan. A++ front desk staff. Keep up the great work. 4.5 overall.

The room was okay but the bathroom had mold and hair in the shower. The lobby had many flies (one of which ended up in my room) and the staff was overwhelmed. The free breakfast is a "get what you pay for" situation which resembles a busy train station complete with screaming children and chaos. My last night there we had a noisy neighbor that was slamming doors, had music on and was yelling until 12:30am. When I called the front desk they notified me they were the only person there, no security, no additional staff and there was nothing they could do. I called the 1-800 number and they said they don't have a policy for over night as all the hotels are franchised so there was nothing I could do and they told me to call the police? Marriott had no solution and we got no sleep.

There were several times the early evening that it was not attended, with no one answering in when I called down for information. The room was clean but not updated. The sink's drain was rusted. The WiFi was sloooow as molasses, basically unusable. I couldn't even check email on my laptop. In fact my phone's hotspot was a TON faster, which I used. The air conditioning was out of control. I set it at 79*F, the temp I have at home. In 30 minutes, the temp was a freezing 70*F. I had to set it at 88*F to get it to 79*F. And there were no extra blankets anywhere to be found, other than on the other bed. I had 2 queen beds in the room. The one I was in was close to rock hard, so I tried the other bed, which was the same. Made it hard (no pun intended) to fall asleep and stay asleep. Breakfast was included, however it was a diabetic's nightmare (which I am). Everything, and I mean every single thing, was loaded with sugar, sugar, sugar, even the packaged oatmeal and coffee creamer (no regular dairy creamer). No cold water, no fresh fruit, no juice, no seltzer. Just fruit bars and packaged muffins. Absolutely nothing healthy was available. I could have gotten a better room, bed and breakfast at a Comfort Inn! No wonder it was less expensive than other hotels in the area. Save your $$$. Don't stay here.
