The lady was very nice . The room was pretty spacious and it was perfect for my family of four.

I loved the place for numerous reasons: 1. The hotel is just 20 minutes by bus from the Port authority bus terminal. You have buses every 30 minutes, and they drop you right at the hotel entrance. 2. For the price you pay, the location and the features offered are unbeatable. 3. Secaucus is pretty safe. Even if you need to return from NYC during night, you can catch a bus, which drops you at 10-15 minute walk to the hotel. Cabs cost you roughly $25 during day and $40 during night, plus tip. 4. Reserve the room a little early and you get discounts to the tune of 20%!!! I loved my stay here. read more

If it was possible to give 0 stars I would. After traveling and arriving late at night in bad weather My wife was told they didn't have her Hotels.com reservation. When she showed then the confirmation they said they didn't have to honor it. She had to pay for a premium room to stay. In the "premium" room half of the outlets didn't work and neither did the the door lock. She had to be locked in her room for the night after having to drag her stuff back to the room for a second time.The staff said if she needed to leave the room to call the front desk and they would let her back in the room. She left something in the car so She called the front desk and they wouldn't answer the phone. The next day Hotels.com came to her rescue and found her another better place to stay for the same price. I complained to Red Roof Inn customer service and got a form letter apologizing for the inconvenience. After complaining again they did refund my money only after the customer service rep who was not from the hotel corrected the story to me in an email. In other words the people at the hotel lied about what happened. What away to treat a women traveling alone. I'm done with Red Roof Inn for good. I don't recommend staying here if you are a women traveling alone. Not a safe place! read more

Bed bugs, the hotel tried twice but both rooms. They were cooperative in refunding my money as I stayed in a neighboring hotel. Decor was, updated for a Red Roof Inn however the beds were not updated. I couldn't really give a review other than explaining that I saw ants, and bugs and I was not going to stay there. So I booked our stay here after reading reviews on booking.com and wow was I wrong for doing so! We stayed 3 days here and when I first booked I thought it would be a nicer place than what it was. Yes, I know it's a motel and yes, you can get really good motels if you pick them right. This time I was not right. I really should've went into yelp or google and read reviews there as well but I didn't. Our room was the typical motel room. Had two double beds, it did have newer wood flooring in the walking area. The beds were bouncy and not comfortable at all. I woke up every morning in misery with my arms and back aching having to take aleve. I always wore my socks because the floor didn't look clean at all. The towels all had black hair all over them when we got them, even the ones that were just cleaned that we went down and asked for. They only give you 2 towels, 2 hand towels, 2 wash cloths per room even though we had 4 people. We had to get towels twice. We opted to stay private for the room because we didn't trust anyone here coming into the room and straightening it up. When we checked in, the only plus was that they gave us a double room instead of a king room because we asked for it. The second day when walking up to our room, we spotted a used needle on the walkway about two rooms down in front of their door. We were in room 340. There was a cleaning lady out and we told her about it and showed her. She seemed frantic about it and almost picked it up with her bare hands until I stopped her and asked her to don some gloves. She barely spoke English. My kids could've stepped right on this needle if we hadn't been walking in front of them. This tells you what this place attracts and we will NOT be back and would NOT recommend this to anyone. Save up your money and go stay somewhere nicer. I've stayed at the Meadowlands River Inn down the street closer to the convention center and it was amazing. Pass on this place! There were very questionable people here the whole time. The third day there on the first floor, it looked like a drug deal was going on as a man knocked on a door and was talking about it with another man. I just am glad we spent our time in the city. Also, don't let them fool you, the bus stop is a good half mile walk down the road. The one in front of the hotel never picks up there and rarely drops off at night when coming back from the city. read more

Stayed her for the weekend. It was nice and cozy right next to the water. Our room was clean, bed was comfortable. The lady at the front desk was phenomenal. She was so sweet and efficient. She told us things we could do during the day and checked us in quickly. We had a little problem with the shower and our toilet randomly plugged up. But they came in quickly to fix each problem! I recommend staying here. There isn't too much close by but other then that it was great! read more

Always a good choice staff is friendly dunkin, subway, Wendy's and some more shops are across the street than there is a bus stop to New York also around the corner as an Xpress or regular than u got a nice place at the river in the back and it's near the MetLife stadium. read more

We were very impressed with this Red Roof Inn. The room was clean, modern & quiet, the beds were comfortable, the staff was friendly, the price was right, location safe & convenient and they are pet friendly. They even offer full menu room service! The only thing the room lacked was a coffee maker, although coffee is available in the lobby. It also would have been a big plus if they offered hourly shuttle service to & from NYC. We would have gladly paid for this service. The bus stop is quite a little trek down the road. Despite those few things we would/will stay here again on future trips. read more

This is the first time we've stayed at Red Roof Inn. It was clean and quiet and worth the money we paid. On the first day there were no towels in the room. I called 4 times to the office and finally had to go to the office to get the towels myself. I was peaved but it didn't dampen my stay. What did dampen my stay however was returning from a long day and finding our room hadn't been tidied and no fresh towels. (Before we left for the day, my husband spoke with housekeeping and advised her that we were leaving and the room could be tidied.) I complained to the staff on duty and we promptly received towels. the next morning the housekeeper had the gall to approach my husband and tell him we created problems for her by complaining and that she didn't understand what he told her the day before. Ummmm not my issue... I went to the manager, Bill, who made it right. He was very apologetic and assured me that he would address it. He even offered me a complimentary stay, which is very appreciated, but was not my goal. In all, it was a great stay and we're headed to the Red Roof Inn in Buffalo. Stay tuned! read more

First off I'd like to say I am a traveling musician and stay in many hotels across the nation and have never had such a terrible experience with a hotel in my life. This location of the red roof inns was the absolute worst rooms & service I have ever experienced. There was mold on the walls, the lights & sockets didn't work and the shower was consistently dripping water. The first night I could barley fall asleep cause of the loud off tempo dripping noise of the shower, which btw only had one temperature which was Ice cold. I spoke to the manager at the front desk who was very rude but he said he would have it fixed. So the next morning I went to take a shower, it was not fixed yet and I was forced to take the coldest shower of my life. Later After a long days work and a performance at Webster Hall I returned to my room and it was full of steam, the water was still dripping but this time was scolding hot turning the entire room into a steam sauna. On top of that there was blood on the "new sheets" that were placed on the bed. I was disgusted and went down to speak with the manager again, he told me that the room was fine before I got there and accused me of causing the problems. We stayed for two night and had 2 rooms, one for my 4-year-old, my husband and I and the other room for my mom and stepdad. The room looked clean, I checked our room's bed linens were clean but in one of the blankets had what looked like a cigarette burn. But that was fine. We enjoyed the city, came back to rest for the night. The next morning my mom came to our room, looking very tired. She said that she couldn't sleep, that their room had bed bugs. She showed me photos she took and she said she killed one, and gave it to the receptionist as proof. They reception handled the problem very professionally an gave then a refund for that room for the night and gave then a new room with the river view. The next night me and my husband stayed in the same room as night before, I turned over every piece of linen, pillow casing and more... Didn't find a bug, thankfully. Nevertheless, I had that paranoid feeling all night that u had bugs crawling in me. Honestly the hotel was fine, the service was professional... But I will never come back because I have the feeling that I have to sterilize our selves and out luggage because I dont really want to bring a bed bug infestation back home in California. read more

Only reason I gave this hotel a chance was because of the price due to me being in town for 6 days for a conference in NYC. Basically, I was being cheap and call myself saving a dollar instead of paying $130+ a night at other hotels. Never again will I decide that again. I had all six days reserved here but only stayed two nights. The walls are very thin so you'll hear everything outside your door. Also, when I checked in there as a bottle cap on the middle of the floor which I though the maid may have missed but that same bottle cap was on the floor the next day so she never picked cleaned the floor. There was hair found on the bed, crumbs on the table and noisy bathroom. I slept in my cloths I was so discussed then on my second note when the room was cleaned by the maid I requested a cancellation for the rest of my stay. Being that it was so late when I cancelled out because I got back late from NYC all the other hotels were sold out and I slept in the comforts of my car then checked into the Hilton the following day. Lastly, I would add that this hotel is known for drugs and prostitution activities. Don't be fooled by the pictures which look nice but when you get there is an entirely different story. The only advantage here is that you can catch the express bus into NYC pretty fast and the bus stop is in front of the hotel. read more

We were staying here for 2 nights and were not that impressed with the room. The room was very small and the bed was not all the comfortable. The walls are pretty thin as we could hear people outside in the mornings. The most disappointing part of the stay was that the room was not cleaned in between the 2 nights we stayed there. One of the dirtiest places to live. The rooms are very small and pictures on the website are taken professionally to fool the customers. Elevators dont work. Not safe to stay here. Stayed here 1 night while going to an event at izod center. Totally unimpressed with the room. While the price was low, ($89.99/night) the reviews I read prior to booking seemed satisfactory. I paid extra to have the "deluxe" room which basically meant we get a microwave, fridge, and coffee pot. Get here and the first thing I notice are how disgustingly dirty the corners of the floor were. As if the person cleaning had swept down the middle of the room and pushed all the dirt to the side. Next thing was the door on the bathroom, it didn't latch so we had to use the restroom and shower with the door open. Last thing was the microwave. It just didn't work.... Not a big deal I thought, I'll just have them bring up a different one. I was mistaken in assuming this. Instead they told me that they won't send a new one and I need to come down to the lobby (this is now after 11pm) and they will heat it up for me. I get down there and the door is locked... Needless to say if I'm ever back in the area I'll spend the extra $20 and get a room in a real hotel. read more

Disgusting ! You can tell this is where escorts come. I came here the other night and me and my girlfriend got in the room and it was freezing ! The heater vent wasn't even working. As soon as we step in the room and noticed that I called the front desk and she said we can get our money back just that we went through a third party. No problem called the third party and they said we can get a refund. They called the hotel the lady in the front real rude said no that now we can't. Long story short we ended up checking out the room. I noticed she didn't even check us out at the right time, she just left it there cause obviously her phones more important. I recently booked this hotel that looks like a second rate motel on Hotwire. I was traveling with a disabled relative and I have diabetes. The lady at the front desk had an attitude of indifference toward us because of our physical and medical conditions and urged us to book another hotel. We were unable to stay at this hotel because they do not have an elevator anywhere on the property. Only very long flights of stairs that my disabled relative could not use. It is shocking the indifference of this hotel towards the disabled. You would think that in this present time in America that all places would be accessible to the disabled people of this country. I had a hard time assigning the right amount of starts for this review. If I could, I would give FIVE stars for the people that worked there. The front desk was great, the maintenance manager was amazing, and the housekeeping staff was cheerful and kind. It's so rare to see a hotel staff like that. This is why I had such a hard time when I discovered our room was in pretty sad shape. Our first room REEKED of cigarette smoke. It was unlivable. There were also clothes and a chocolate donut on the floor. We called the front desk and the maintenance manager immediately came up and moved us to another room. It smelled of bleach, but was much cleaner. We only had two pillows so I asked for more and they cheerfully brought them up. As the night went on, we realized we only had two towels for a family of four. Only two lights in the entire room (bedroom AND bath) worked. The other lamps were missing light bulbs. There were lipstick kiss marks all over the bathroom door. My husband and I were skeeved out, but my children were quite amused. The shampoo had been opened and used. The remote didn't work. The sheets were clean so we finally just sucked it up and spent the night. I felt like the staff was really trying, but it was just beyond help. read more

I am a high school student and I stayed here for a class trip to Manhattan, NY. I live in Maine so the bus ride itself was almost 7 hours. We left at 9 am and we stopped in Boston, MA. to check out colleges, walk around, and eat lunch. We got there around 12:30-1pm and stayed for a few hours. We got to our hotel (this one) at exactly 11pm. Everyone was exhausted so we grabbed our stuff and got to our hotel rooms. My 3 roommates and I had a lot of trouble even opening our door. The key worked but our door would not open, it was like it was jammed. It took all 4 of us and 6-7 minutes just to get in. The room was really nice, the A/C was amazing, the beds were comfy and everything was clean. The next morning 2 of my roommates tried to leave to get coffee and breakfast and we were stuck inside. The door jammed AGAIN. We were actually trapped in our hotel room for about 5 minutes. We went to New York and we were walking around literally all day, except to eat of course. We got back to the hotel around 11:00ish and we get to our hotel room, and yet again stuck outside. We finally decided to tell the front office after trying to get in for 10 minutes. 2 of my roommates left to get a worker and it took them almost half an hour to even come up and help us out. A worker came up and tried our keys, the door still didn't open but our keys were working. She left and another lady came up and tried a new key (everyone knew it was the door, not the key) She left and came back and told us she was moving us to a new room for the night. She told us maintenance would be there at 7 to try and get in. Now, may I remind you before continuing, I was on my feet all day and all night walking around in a place I have never been before, literally a whole new world to me (I live in Farmington, a small town) and I ask a simple question, "where is our new room." I need to know right? The worker gave me an attitude right away. She called me a little girl (I am 18) and was telling me not to be so lazy and I could walk to my room( I had multiple bags I needed to carry with me from what I had brought on the bus with me and what I had bought in NY), she was telling me how she just walked up a flight of stairs twice for us and she was just the rudest person I have talked to while staying in a hotel. I (being a nice person) apologized to her for asking. She brought us to our hotel room and it was already 11:50. Us 4 girls and our friend Matt got to our new room (he was helping us with bags) and when we get to our room she tells us it's their premium room and they don't let "kids" stay in it so we better not get anything on their white sheets. She was treating us like kids and we are Juniors and Seniors in high school. I apologized YET AGAIN and she puts her hands up and acts like she is choking me!! She practically told me she wanted to choke me, and I did NOTHING wrong. And their premium room they put us in, had a broken toilet! So we weren't able to go to the bathroom all night. The next morning was our last morning in NY. We get up and I go to check out if our door was open, because all of our bags we brought were in there. It was 7:45ish and turns out, maintenance wasn't even there nor have they been there! So there us 4 girls were, no clean clothes, bus leaving at 8:30, and it was 8. They didn't get our room open until 8:25ish. They told us to pack our stuff and they would move us to a new room while we were gone but when we get back we were in the same room with the broken door, because they didn't want to move our stuff even though they said they would. We left the next morning and we told all our teachers that went on the trip never to stay there again. It was terrible, worst hotel I have ever been to. read more
