After getting facials at Silver Mirror Facial Bar, my friend and I decided to have dinner. We made reservations at Red Room Bar. We arrived and waited to be seated. (In this time, we used the restroom - which was not as clean as it should have been) The restaurant was dimly lit, for ambiance I guess. The seating was peculiar. Didn't seem to be enough space between tables. My friend uses a cane, we needed to be able to rest the cane where she could grab it should she need it, but not be in the way of other diners. The waitress gave us our menu and allowed us to peruse the menu. There wasn't much food to consider, mostly drinks. We ordered: Lost Time -- Michter's Bourbon, Calvados, Cinnamon, Pecan, Maple, Angostura Pink Juice -- Watermelon, Strawberry, Coconut Water The Situationship -- Passionfruit, Coconut Water, Muri Passing Clouds Roasted Squash and Sweet Potato -- Grilled Grape, Cashew Hummus, Hazelnut Pomme Frites -- House Cut Fries, Remoulade, Creole Ketchup Crispy Chicken Sandwich -- Pikliz Slaw, Remoulade, House Brioche Roll Red Room Bar Waygu Smash Burger -- House Brioche Roll, Cheddar, Special Sauce Salted Caramel Ice Cream Bar -- Chocolate Dipped The drinks: Lost Time was good and strong. Pink Juice was nonalcoholic and was not tasty in my opinion. I wouldn't order it again. My friend said her drink The Situationship was delicious. If we ever return, I'll have to try it. The food was ok. I thoroughly enjoyed the Roasted Squash and Sweet Potato as well as the Crispy Chicken Sandwich. The Burger was a different story simply because of the sauce, it was super spicy. We told the waitress my mouth was burning from the spice and it took forever for me to receive a simple glass of ice water. PLEASE DON'T BOTHER with the Salted Caramel Ice Cream Bar!! $12 for a Magnum Ice Cream Bar! You can go to the local supermarket and get at least 10 for that price. There's nothing I love taking advantage of more than New York Restaurant week (which usually runs for 3 weeks in the winter and summer), so when I saw Red Room Bar was offering a $45 3-course menu, I knew I had to go. I didn't realize how many entrances Printemps had. This one is on Wall Street; fyi. The establishment is very proper and very posh - someone is there to open your door and the hosts/servers are very professional. Loved the service here. However, I do think the stretch between my appetizer and entrée was a little long, but I wasn't in too much of a rush. I believe all in all I spent about an hour and a half there.   3. Creamy Pumpkin Soup - Very gingery. I know pumpkin doesn't have a very strong flavor, but I can't say I even got the essence of it. Regardless, I was a fan of the soup. Enjoyed the addition of the onions and the chestnut for a break in texture. Focaccia is always so funny to me because it looks like a very dry bread, but this was so pepper and soft. God bless whoever baked that bread.   2. Fish & Chips - Very lightly battered and I was a big fan of that decision. I hate when I order fried fish and its 70% batter. Fries were good. I didn't care too much for the remoulade - the flavor wasn't distinct enough to make a difference to the overall meal and at time it felt like I was dipping my fries into straight butter. 3. Salted Caramel Ice Cream Bar - Precisely the greatest way to end this meal. Just the perfect size and perfect sweetness to curb my need for a sweet treat after a meal. The Red Room Bar is an intimate and luxurious cocktail lounge in the Printemps department store next to Maison Passerelle. Housed in the private banking hall of the former Irving Trust Company, this Art Deco space features red ombré and gold mosaic walls, shelves filled with eclectic sculptures and art books, and a beautiful Baccarat crystal chandelier above the center of the bar. Their spirit forward cocktails include the hilariously named Heated Rivalry featuring hibiscus tea, cardamom, honey, and El Dorado rum. It was hot and steamy and therefore aptly named. The Lost Time is crafted with premium Michter's bourbon and Calvados brandy well balanced with pecan and maple. This bar is a hidden gem. read more

My friend found the red room bar via a Google search. It's located inside of printemp, a luxury department store. It's beautiful inside and made me think of old movies where the stars grabbed a cocktail while shopping. The attention to detail was easy to see. The ice cubes were imprinted with the store's logo. Some of the drinks even had the name floating on top. This isn't a place I would frequent, but it's worth a visit and the photo ops. read more

You'd think that this bar being one of the main concepts of the shop, it would live up to the hype of excellent service and ambiance. It was alright at best. Starting with the pricing - some of the generic cocktails were more expensive than food, $30+ ? Servers are not attentive and service is exceptionally slow considering they have 7 or 8 tables to service at most. Ordered two drinks right with food order. Waited 20 minutes for two cocktails and then another 15 or so minutes for food to come out. Had water poured when we sat down, no pitcher left on the table and no refills either. Lastly, the bar staff decided that instead of having two large trash bins one was enough and it was acceptable to be replacing that large bag of trash in the middle of service. Gross. If it wasn't for the bar food being good, this would have gotten 2 stars. Not at all fitting the concept of French luxury nor the vibe the store is aiming for. GYT cocktail - mostly a solid block of clear ice in a tall glass. Tasted okay but horrible for the price. Red juice with a splash of sparkling wine - $14 for the juice and another $9 for a droplet of champagne? Really? Had to ask for the cheaper option before they stuck us with a droplet of an expensive bottle Crispy chicken sandwich - pretty good, on the small side though Pomme frites - best item of everything we ordered. If I had to go back I would get the pomme frite to go. read more

The good is that the Red Room at Printemps is so rad to visit. The ambiance is unbeatable, it's moody and a little hidden and it feels like the perfect girls night out spot. Unfortunately I had a pretty bizarre experience here when I tried to walk-in on a rainy weekday with a party of four. It was quiet but the tables were mostly taken. Hours before we came there were a ton of reservations so we didn't think it was necessary because we only wanted drinks -- we were wrong. Apparently you cannot stand by the bar at all. There were three open seats but they wouldn't even let one friend stand between them so we were forced to wait. Okay, no problem, they said it would be 20 minutes. It happens. Well, an hour passes and finally I go up to ask about it -- they shrug and say well you can order drinks and sit on the couches by the shoes if you want while you wait. Okay, sure. Kinda wish we'd known than an hour ago. We order our $20+ cocktails and sit around... for another half hour. Still no table, no bar, nothing. We ask what the deal is, again they shrug and say sorry no dice. I note there's a whole new crop of folks sitting at the bar. We close our check and leave. I'm a very patient and reasonable person, but the experience was pretty lame. At bare minimum by the time an hour passed they should have reached out to us (sitting across the room a mere 10 second walk from their podium) to update us on the situation. We felt pretty forgotten about, which was just kinda dumb when we were sitting there staring at them the whole time. But whatever! I will say the cocktails were pretty darn tasty. I had a pink pony club and it was lovely. But they just don't seem to have their stuff together so make a reservation or wait at your own peril. read more

Finding the bar is a little tricky you either need to go upstairs from the main entrance and walk across to the other end of the store to go down a dedicated staircase.
