Very trendy spot to grab drinks and dinner. Seating isn't ideal as all the chairs are low, I actually sat on a pillow to gain a more comfortable position and I am tall! Love the ambiance of the room and the history of it. Very old New York and feels that way. Menu had plenty of options for any appetite and preferences. Great shareables if grabbing a drink and a snack is the mood. Service was a little slow, but it's a huge dining room and they were all friendly, helpful and accommodating.
Elegant bar in a storied hotel. Stopped in midday solo on a Saturday for a quick drink and bite. I luckily found a spot at the bar. The bartenders were all friendly and kind. The menu is pretty extensive. I ordered a gin and tonic as well as 3 cheeses. Interesting cheese selection, and the gin and tonic was excellent! Noise level was not loud and I enjoyed the ambiance of this gorgeous bar. There's a bathroom downstairs if needed. A classic New York bar, and a must visit in my opinion! I believe they do take reservations if you prefer to have a table.
Food: 3/5 the mocktail was okay but burrata was kinda meh. Nothing crazy good but overpriced comparably. Service: 3/5 as soon as ur done, the waitress hands you the receipt. I get the whole NYC thing but it makes u feel pressured to leave ASAP. Ambiance: 5/5 its kind of my vibe but might not be everyone's style. Its old fashioned but fancy and you see nicely dressed up people on their first dates etc. I think this place is a good bar if you stay at Beekman hotel but if you are not, there are other options in NYC!
I wanted to check out the Beekman Hotel and stumbled upon the Bar Room which has the atrium directly above it. It's definitely an aesthetically pleasing spot with its decor including bookshelves and art on the walls. The bar has seating and there are many tables throughout. I arrived before it became extremely packed so I was able to sit at the bar but soon it became tough to even sit there as people were constantly trying to place their orders without a lot of bartenders taking them. I sat there for a few minutes and was given a menu and a glass of water. It took like 10 min to place an order and I had to really try. I ordered the Betty Smith cocktail which comes with ford's Gin, St. Agrestis Paradiso, Aquafaba, Orange, Honey. It was really delicious and refreshing. After getting my cocktail I never had any further check ins and had to ask for more water. This is definitely a popular spot with a great view of the Beekman's Atrium, great cocktails but not very good service. It still was an experience. They have a food menu along with beer, wine, and non-alcoholic cocktails. Definitely a good spot in the Financial District.
We came to the Beekman Bar Room for the first stop of my girlfriend's birthday weekend world tour, as it is the most beautiful setting for a restaurant I have been to in NYC. We were seated in the middle of the atrium in huge lounge-like chairs that I would expect to be in my grandpa's house. After trying to get comfortable in these odd chairs for such a classy setting, I finally settled in and scanned my surroundings. Looking down on us were floors of venetian architecture stacked up on each other as far up as you can see, with a skylight at the top to tie them together. It has an authentic 70s New York feel to it. Around us were foreign hotel guests, finance bros, and some pretty cute couples all dressed classy as hell. That's one of my favorite things about this place, how classy everyone dresses. You'd be wildly underdressed here in jeans and a tshirt, and I love that. I miss when nicer places had dress codes, idk. I ordered a vesper, as I had just gotten a new suit jacket from Marshalls and I was feeling like James Bond in this setting. I just felt cool ordering it. "Oh yeah just a *vesper* for me..." just all casual and nonchalant. I know you don't care and I'm getting off track here, but the Marshall's suit jacket had been marked down to $60, with the original price being $300. Honestly, they could just be making that original price up. I'm such an easy get with that. Sometimes I just want to feel like I won... My Vesper did the trick and I felt like 007, especially with my baby looking FIRE. We ordered Shishito Peppers ($21), 6 oysters ($25), Waygu Burger ($33), Hanger Steak ($39). When those shishito peppers came I couldn't help but laugh as they should have been $7 for that portion. $21 is CRAZY for some peppers. The food was decent, but honestly just a little uninspired. Nothing was bad per se, but nothing is making me want to WRITE. You feel me? I'll just leave you with the Beekman Bar Room is the PERFECT place in NYC to dress up a little bit, grab a few cocktails and order a side of the fingerling potatoes. I think this would be a cute date night spot! The interior is stunning and a really beautiful place to eat at, especially at night. Warning: the seating is really interesting in certain places and the chairs at some of the tables are really low. So just a note if you're a smaller person you might get swallowed up by your chair. I ate here twice while I stayed at the Beekman. I ate dinner my first night, and then had the full Beekman breakfast my third day. The breakfast was just okay, but it came with a lot of food and they also give you juice and coffee if you order the full breakfast. So I would say it is nice for the value but taste-wise I would probably order something else! The hash brown cake was so soggy and I did not finish it. My dinner entree was the short rib ravioli which was SO good! The sauce was so so delicious. It was so perfect with the ravioli and I was practically licking my plate clean to get every last bit of the sauce. The pasta and the meat was cooked well. The portion is quite small though so I would say it will not get you full. I would definitely eat here again for the ambiance. Service was adequate; nothing to write home about but was more than sufficient.
I had a great experience at The Bar Room at Beekman. First, I want to highlight the charming qualities of the entire property. Upon entering the lobby, you are greeted by a kind and polite doorman who directs you to the front desk. Whether you're staying at the hotel or just joining The Bar Room for drinks at the bar or a snack at the tables, or even dining at Chef Daniel's restaurant, La Gratin, you are in the right place. The ambiance is absolutely stunning. With high ceilings, dim lighting, and sophisticated music, it creates a relaxing atmosphere to unwind after a long day. We were seated by a friendly and professional hostess. Our server was a young lady who seemed to be one of the lead servers, as she managed several tables. Her knowledge of the food and beverage menu was impressive. Since we were looking for a snack after a late lunch, she provided excellent recommendations. The drinks were good; my cocktail was slightly sweeter than usual for a gimlet, but it was still well made. The wine selection is also impressive. For food, we ordered a cheese board, which came with crostini, honey, and nuts. I must admit that the presentation could be improved. Given the variety of cheeses, it would have been better to serve them on a board rather than a regular plate, with the additional components in ramekins for better preservation. Steak Tartar - as expected, yum Smoked Whitefish Benedict - it's like a white fish salad croquette, pretty good. Wagyu Burger w/ Fingerling Potato - pretty yummy, fingerling Potato is very crispy. $31 for a burger quite steep though. Curry Cod - little underwhelming. Chicken Salad - dressing was tasty, radicchio and pecan see a plus. Espresso Martini was too sweet, sadly. Service was attentive and great.
I literally live across the park so I come here very often, whether it's to do work, grab a solo drink, meet a friend, or try to meet men. The drinks are really good and the bartenders are not too pushy. Sometimes I sit a while before I order anything and no one minds. The food here is good too, and the architecture is just iconic.
Had a great lemon drop and good vibes here! If you're going on the weekend I recommend a reservation. Food was decent, but drinks and service were great. If you stay until midnight there's a fun club / lounge underneath the hotel.
This place has been on my go-to list, and I was happy to be able to finally go! My friend and I made a reservation to go at 2PM on a Sunday, and the place was decently busy. There's an actual bar for those who probably walk in, but the area has a decent amount of seating. The area was gorgeous, with an atrium that allows a lot of natural light to pour in. The bookshelves and lounge style seats gave a comfy and cozy vibe, which makes this place a great space to meet up and chat with friends! We just ordered cocktails, my friend getting the 6PM Osaka, and I the Jessica Presaler. Both were fruity and delicious, and came in cute glasses! Just a side note, even if you reserve seating in the non-bar area, it seems the staff is ok with you just ordering a cocktail! I know some places have a minimum, or require to order food, but not here, which is nice! It seems less formal than its appearance, I even saw someone doing work on her laptop there. Definitely swing by this place and enjoy its ambiance! The architecture is so unique and pretty, and it really makes you feel like you're in another world.
Great service but super super loud place. We had to yell at each other when talking, pretty much. Cool ambiance. Super dark atmosphere. Great bathrooms.
I can't miss the caramelised onion dip whenever I come to NY! It's so addicting! It's dark in there and one night we were there for last call. I'm ashamed to say I licked the bowl in such a classy place. But it was late and not a lot of people were around...

We are so fancy! Great bar located inside the hotel. The atmosphere is great n wine crisp. We sat by the bar, stopped in for drinks after the movies. Service is friendly. read more
We returned to the Bar Room at the Beekman Hotel this year during our annual Christmas extravaganza in the city. It is one of the most beautiful spaces we've been to. A bonus was it landed during my bday weekend and they left a sweet card on our table for me (photo 11). It's a peak into the elegance of 19th century New York. They're very close to Wall Street in the Financial District so it's the perfect spot to make a short walk to see the Wall Street Christmas tree after a wonderful meal. @thebeekmanny The Beekman was completed in 1883, the same year as the Brooklyn Bridge. It's 9 stories were actually considered a skyscraper at the time. It has quite the history given the icons that used to hang around the area like Ralph Waldo Emerson, Mark Twain, and Henry David Thoreau. Edgar Allen Poe published his paper The Broadway on the site. You can feel the history when you walk through the doors. They call it the living room of downtown Manhattan and easy to see why. Every nook is curated with vintage art pieces from the turn of the century. The people watching is spectacular and the food and cocktails are equally elevated. We made sure to make it to their weekend jazz brunch after loving it last year. Nothing like an Irish coffee on a cold day (photo 6). The bartenders are highly skilled and friendly. They have a solid cocktail program for those that prefer complex or simple recipes. It's just a wonderfully comfortable space. Honestly I did not expect this to be a 5/5, but it is! Food was great, service attentive and helpful. Most importantly, the setting and ambience are very nice. The high ceilings, grandiose setting and live band make this a very nice brunch or dinner option on a rainy NY day. read more

I know we are old and cranky, but really...this place is over-rated. And I get that it was Christmas, so it's a tough night. But starting from the opening line - you have 90 minutes. I get that, but then don't deliver our appetizer 40 minutes after we sit down and then the main course a minute after. And, oh yeah, deliver the appetizer like you are in a diner and don't give us side plates. The shishito peppers were all spicy, not the one in ten which is typical. Our entrees were very tasty, but the espresso was meh. Ambiance was great except for the constant flash from the phones of the Brazilian butt lift girls across the way. Does anyone ever come somewhere without having to document it? Oh yeah, I'm old. read more
Went for the Jazz Brunch on a busy Saturday at The Bar Room at the Beekman - great atmosphere. Love the open atrium with a historic feel and the live music was a nice touch. We started with the Brioche Doughnuts which were excellent. We also had the Salmon Toast and the Wagyu Burger, both which were okay. They were busy and seemed a little understaffed but the servers were friendly and helpful. Overall, not a bad choice for a brunch in a unique environment. read more

Come for the cocktails at the bar. Make a reservation if you can for a table. Great people watching in the city. Drinks will cost you around $20 each, but worth it. Strong drinks! Beautiful views. Cool bartenders and vibes. read more
Four stars mainly for ambiance. This restaurant is located in the atrium of the Beekman, a Thompson hotel (reviewed separately). A visit to this restaurant/bar is worthwhile simply for the decor, moody lighting, and the one of a kind atrium. The food and the service are mediocre. The first visit (I was a guest at the hotel, so stopped by a couple of times), I had the hangar steak medium. It was probably closer to the side of rare, but I can deal with that. But it was almost cold, had no sear or crust, and was low on flavor. The second time, I had the wagyu burger, also medium. Cooked correctly, but the same--lacking flair and flavor. The drinks are pretty good. I had a couple of mezcal drinks, just the right amount of fruit and smoke. I had the jungle bird. I can't complain about any of them, though the experience didn't leave me with unforgettable memories either. The staff was nice enough, though reserved. I wasn't checked on enough for my taste. I don't need special catering, but would have liked it if they had stopped in more often (would have probably sold me another cocktail or two that way too). Anyway, worth a stop for the architecture and Instagram photos. Don't go just for the food. Oh, and FYI: a lot of the seats are chairs and sofas that sink down low, do this might not be for everyone. read more

this restaurant is inside the beekman hotel. very easy to find! I had a party of 4 and we had the intentions of sitting at the bar, grabbing a few drinks, and chatting. we came in and it was a little busy but the hostess immediately sat us at a table without a reservation. i'm usually very prompt on making reservation but tonight the hostess was so kind and sat us IMMEDIATELY without one. drinks took a bit longer to arrive to us but the ambiance made up for it. the architecture, holiday decorations, and overall vibe was breathtaking! the appetizers was a bit underwhelming.. I ordered the chicken wings, it was $23, and it came out for 5 small wings.. a bit short for the price. in terms of my favorite drink.. a table favorite would've been the 6pm in osaka and the jessica pressler! this spot is one i'd take a friend coming out of town for a chat and drink! lovely fidi spot! read more
I've been wanting to dine at the Beekman for the longest time, but unfortunately the food was really average (or even slightly below) so we were all very disappointed. The portion was small and didn't taste fresh. Cocktails are better but also not outstanding. It is really more for the vibe and the beautiful hotel itself. Would probably only come here to grab a drink with work acquaintances in the future. read more

Beautiful setting in the Beekman Hotel. The classic interior really sets an elegant ambience, great for dates or just catching up with friends over a fancy cocktail. The drinks list has a good blend of their own creations as well as classic cocktails. The staff here are super professional, gave good recommendations, and were always great about refilling water and checking up on our drinks. Amongst the classic cocktails, the Paper Plane is a New York staple. read more

This review is for drinks only. I guess I'm surprised this place only has 3 stars, granted I've never eaten the food. I've come here on multiple occasions for drinks and have always loved my experience. I usually make a reservation just in case, but tend to come on the earlier side and it's always pretty empty. The place is absolutely breathtaking. Incredibly cozy and opulent at the same time. Definitely a showstopper and would recommend taking visitors here for a drink. Service is always great. The last time I came I asked for a mocktail (they don't have any on the menu) and the server made something really delicious! But overall, I'd recommend ordering one of their specialty cocktails because they're unique. Drinks are pricey, but pretty standard for NYC. Overall, I think this is a great option if you're looking for a relaxing, but beautiful and not overly trendy place to grab a drink. read more
The extra star is only for ambiance, everything else is terrible. Just walk through the hotel and take some pictures, don't waste any more time here. We had 4 people at our party and we were seated at the table behind the host stand. Right behind the host stand. The were leaning on our "couch" - it was so odd. Then the placement of the menus was strange, each a quarter of the table apart, but our table had a couch that took up 40% of the table and 1 chair across from the couch. Such an odd and unpleasant arrangement for 4 people. The food is pretty bad for the price. Even if it was half the price, I would call it bellow average. As many people before me mentioned as well. We got the tuna and steak tartar as well as a burger and 2 slamon dishes. The chips were too greasy and salty, the tartars had almost no flavor. The salmon dish came out cooked to the correct med rare temperature. That's it... The cocktail were good, even though the server brought us the wrong order, then said we can have the cocktail on the house and charged us anyways. When we brought up the extra charge, he stated he'll take care of it, but just stood there... we said we had to go in 5 minutes. So he said he can just give us some drinks, if we wanted. All that meant was he screwed up and didn't want to go to the manager to admit his fault, not good Luis... So we ended up overpaying by $20 for cocktail we didn't want in the first place. read more

The environment is breath taking, clean, calm, & inviting . I sat in this leather studded booth with pillows, the table was chess board patterned. I came here for the duck hash which was hash at all. Hash is supposed to have potatoes. Though it wasn't truly hash, it was light and tasty. I also tried their Genmaicha tea and fingerling potatoes as well as the smoked fish Benedict (best i've ever had, fish wasn't overpowering and service on potato cakes). The service was relaxed and not immediate, but the staff was pleasant and inviting. Ambiance and service great. Brisket that was ordered was average. However the pork chop and fish was ok. Very relaxing environment great for a date or a gathering of friends. Would go again. read more
