It was my hope that Red Sea Tile and Stone would be a good contractor--people who took care of their clients and provided quality workmanship and service. Upon comparing reviews and pricing, I decided on Red Sea Tile and crossed my fingers that they would end up having them on my go-to list. Well, let me just say... they DID NOT make the cut. Here's a summary of my experience. We hired them to fix cracked tiles and sub-wall issues in my home's bathroom. These were simple fixes, and were told that the project will be completed within a week. I'll start with some positive experiences: 1. They were very responsive in assessing the project and giving us estimates 2. They were very communicative about change orders and collecting payment 3. They did have a can-do spirit with the project--having a nice attitude helps, and they were pleasant to be around 4. They were clean and respectful of the residence 5. The project manager was involved in the process and came to the site every other day, as well as responsive to texts and calls during the project Unfortunately, the negative experiences outweighed the positives. 1. The overall workmanship was poor, not meeting industry standards * The tiles were unevenly laid on the walls (not just tile alignment) * Wall reconstruction was also uneven, leaving indentations in places you wouldn't see at first such as behind a trashcan, as well as messy plaster lines * The grout placement wasn't clean nor even, leaving random smudged spots * They scratched the tub * They nicked a bathroom floor tile 2. The project went from one week to two weeks, with a rush job at the end; We had to rearrange our own work schedule to accommodate them for another week At first, two guys were supposed to work on our project so that it would get done within the week time allotted. We adjusted our work schedules to accommodate them at the house. After day 1, we were either informed by the project manager, Giovanni, or the employee that was there for the day, that the second person either called out, was going to show up later (but didn't), or we'll have 2 employees on the job tomorrow (which rarely happened). We make it a point to ask about what they plan to accomplish the following day, and we would often receive the response, "I don't know." And when we'd ask if that specific employee was going to return the next day, that employee's response was "I don't know. You'll need to ask Giovanni. He might have me work on another job." This 1-week simple project ended up being 2 weeks, which also included (1 weekend). It was going to extend into another week because no one showed up in the morning at our project that 2nd Friday as they were at another job, but because we had scheduled our glass contractor to install the glass shower door that Sat., we had to discuss with Giovanni about completing the project sooner than later. We asked if he could complete the project over the weekend so we can have the glass contractor install the door early in the week. However, Giovanni said that he had another job to work on during the weekend, and tried to get us to re-arrange our schedule again to accommodate him during the week. When we said that we couldn't, he decided to head back to our project that Friday evening with one of his guys to finish the job instead. He mentioned he was behind in the other project too and needed to "just get your project done". Needless to say, there was a mad rush job that evening. They did a really quick QC and asked us to do the same, mentioned that the grout and paint will take 24 HR to try so it would be okay to install the glass door,and left very quickly after receiving the last payment. 3. They did not honor their warranty The following day, the glass guy installed our shower door. We were not able to use the shower until the following Monday morning. On Tuesday, we thought we noticed a hairline crack on one of the tiles in the shower. But, when we looked again, we couldn't find it. Then on Wednesday evening, we found the crack again when the tile is wet. Thursday morning, we texted Giovanni photos, and made him aware that the cracked tile is exposed to water and were worried that issue could turn into a larger possible failure to the waterproofing system. Giovanni didn't get back to us until the following week. He finally responded with that the crack was cosmetic, and we passed the 3 days notification (by 1 business day given they completed the job Friday night), and therefore this requires a $350 charge to fix. But to let him know if the crack has worsened in which then he will honor the warranty. We politely, but firmly sent him his warranty stating that the warranty should fix anything that is not to workmanship standards, and that, yes, indeed the crack got worse. We also made him aware of the scratched tub & broken floor tile, but mentioned we would let that slide. We were met with silence. Now weeks later, the crack is worse! read more

I had to have my tub removed for repairs, in doing so the plumbers broke the bottom two rows of tiles and removed a good bit of textured drywall. I wanted to simply repair the tiles and make the job as small (inexpensive) as possible. Other places wanted me to completely redo the whole shower for a whole lot more. Red Sea Tile & Stone agreed to work with me on the repair. They quoted a reasonable price and time estimate to get the job done. I'm glad I went with them. The team was able to perfectly match the tiles and the drywall with the proper texturing. It now looks like nothing ever happened. They got it all done quickly, professionally, and at the agreed upon price. The only drawback I'll say is they're sometimes a little slow to respond and I had to follow up with them. But, I think they're pretty busy and the issue was not bad enough to dock them a star for it. Overall, great experience. I'd use them again for more tile work. read more

Although the tile work is good, DO NOT let them do plumbing work. They did the plumbing in the kitchen and bathroom and they were terrible. I had to hire a licensed plumber, and pay for work that I already paid Red Sea Tiles for. They should stick to laying tiles and not offer to do work they can't do well. Red Sea Tile and Stone did a project for us for our bathroom. Our vanity counters, back splash, shower curb, and shower seat, Cuts were overall good. However when they went to install shower seat they used white grout that instead of blending with the wall and grey grout stuck out and did not blend very well at all. We ended up having our contractor do it because they didn't seem up to it. They then came back to finish the back splash when I was on my honey moon and just did a horrible job with the caulking, they also left pencil marks everywhere on our newly painted walls. To top it off the they didn't match the stone up with the left side of my vanity. I mistakenly paid them before seeing it, and now they won't respond to requests to fix. read more

It was a good experience working with Geovanni and his crew Alex. We retiled our bathroom floor and added tiles on one of the walls. They were also able to handle the removal/installation of all things around (vanity/toilet/baseboard/mirror/light) which was nice because we didn't have to hire other people to do those work. Red Sea Tile and Stone did a fantastic job on our fireplace remodel. Initially, the company quickly responded to an email estimate request. Geovanni, the project manager, came to the house to verify measurements, explain the process, and provide a written contract with a statement of work. The first work crew (Geovanni, Alex, Milton), removed protruding bricks, jack hammered the hearth, replaced the wood panel, and prepared old brick. The second work crew (Pablo, Milton) did the tile/stone ledger installation. This stone installation required both an artisan's eye and an expert's craftsmanship. The stone was a mini-split with height variations within each single tile. The stone edges had to be leveled and made consistent to fit together well and make as straight a line as possible. To go around the front and sides, the stones were mitered at the corners. This tile was not easy to install. On the last day, Geovanni installed the mantle and art piece above the mantle. Throughout the project, Geovanni kept tabs on the project progress with on-site visits or telephone check-ins. The crews showed up on time, were professional and courteous, and took care to keep the job site clean. Some worker's English was a bit limited. However, no work was done without clear instructions from Geovanni or other company representative. The crew asked to work extra on Saturday - which was fine with us! The project was completed on the stated time schedule for the amount of the contract. Our fireplace remodel looks fabulous! Every time I look at the fireplace, a smile spreads over my face because of the great work Red Sea Tile and Stone did. Highly, highly recommend. read more

I needed a standard 1.25" hole cut into my granite behind my kitchen sink for a new accessory. I put in a quote request from another vendor here on yelp and got quotes from a bunch of different vendors (including a quote from Red Sea Tile). I couldn't believe how much EVERY one of the other vendors wanted just to cut a hole (no install of anything needed). When we originally had the granite installed 15 years ago I remember how quick they cut the hole so I knew it wasn't a complicated job. Red Sea Tile came in at a completely reasonable quote. So I scheduled the work. They were very accommodating on my schedule and on the day of the job called and asked if they could come earlier which really worked out better for me.
