I booked Fernando on a Friday night at 9pm to be at my house Monday morning at 8am to install the tile I had already purchased. I sent him a picture of the backsplash area and a picture of the tile I bought. His quote was great and he communicated well. He hit a snafu Monday morning be he called an hour before he was supposed to be here to say he is running late. He laid out paper all the way from him tile saw to the kitchen so he wouldn't dirty our floors. He even suggested that he use his own mortar instead of the mortar I bought which was not as good and would require sealant. I returned the grout and sealant and extra tile that I bought so it was like a rebate. He worked continuously and was gone after a few hours. He cleaned up everything himself. I decided to finally repair my kitchen floor. I had some water damage on my wood floor. I decided to install a travertine tile floor with a Versailles pattern. I reached out to Fernando through yelp and he quickly responded and provided me an estimate. He came over to look at my floor the next day, which was a Sunday. I had him start that Wednesday. We arranged to start at 8:00 am. He was there exactly at 8:00 am with his crew to start the demolition. Fernando provided me step by step instructions on what he was going to do and it was done in a timely manner. The installation had some challenges,but he addressed them with a positive attitude. Fernando responded quickly to my request for a bid. He quickly and happily accepted my counteroffer. He and his partner Jose showed up in the time window they said they would - the very next day. There were no surprise charges or other problems with my floor tile repair job. They promptly and effectively removed the old tiles, prepared proper underlayment, scraping the linoleum one the slab that had caused the problem in the first place. They very professionally relaid the large tiles, working carefully and efficiently, threw out all the waste, and then cleaned everything up nicely. LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE for your tiling project! This company is only interested in completing the project quickly in order to be paid even if it means leaving your home in an unsafe condition. Fernando is not professional. He is blinded by is ego and cannot be reasoned with. He ruined my bathrooms, disrespected, and insulted me because I didn't allow him to complete my bathroom unsafely. Bathroom 1: I bought $2K worth of glass and a whitish colored tile for this bathroom and the entire wall with the glass is ruined because he did a sloppy job. The worst part is I gave him the benefit of the doubt and TRIED to work this out with him. I texted him asking if this grout stains and greyish film would come off, this was followed by him calling and saying that he knows what he's doing because he's been doing it for 12 years. He said nobody buys that type of black grout because it will stain. Even though he was at the store with me when I bought it and didn't say anything when he saw me put it in the cart. Then after blaming the grout for his bad work, he said I shouldn't tell him how to do his job because he doesn't tell me how to do mine. At this point he's not even addressing the grout, but instead talking about the fact that I didn't listen to him on my second bathroom. He was furious that I told him my brother recommended the use of hot mop. Fernando did NOT want to wait the extra days for the hot mop and was furious that I didn't blindly trust him. Bathroom 2: I asked him what was recommended because of a few cracks in my shower pan. He recommended to tile OVER the old tiles on the shower pan. I was also having him change flooring in this bathroom. After doing the demo on the flooring the wood underneath was soaked and covered in black mold. He wanted to continue the work and just immediately put the flooring over that! He claims it wasn't that bad and that he had seen worse. I was shocked at his response and even more shocked when he became furious that I requested we leave it open for a couple days so it can dry. He was pushing me to just let him complete it and SKIP the hot mop because he's been doing this for 12 years and he knows better. There is SO MUCH MORE, too much to list how unprofessional he is. He is dishonest and unreasonable. He even broke a couple of my tiles (big ones 24 x 48) said he replaced them, and he didn't, he was angry that my husband and I brought him and his crew new towels to use as they were working. He takes everything as a personal attack. Horrible experience, I hope nobody has to ever go through anything like this. Beware you will have no recourse as he is NOT a licensed contractor! ***EDIT*** He was paid IN FULL and never finished the work. Also, you offered to pick up materials, he continues to be dishonest. BEWARE*** Look at how he responds, this is a very angry, and dishonest individual. He will blame everyone and everything for doing a bad job. Everyone who has given him a bad review, he has called, texted, or made a snarky comment. Definitely not professional and borderline harassing, I shouldn't feel unsafe asking questions about things that are being done in my home. read more
