They always answer questions and are accessible. The kindness Dr Sara and her tech Jasmine showed helping with my appointment today showed above and beyond passion for what they do. I had to put my horse down and they took extra time to allow me to share stories about Chief, they even shed tears with me. Animal owners arent always the easiest... I know. It's hard to be the voice that's translating to the loved one (pet parent) and what we think the pet needs. read more

I called and schedule an appointment to get our guinea pig scheduled to be neutered because my regular vet doesn't do that. We scheduled for a month out, receptionist went over all the basics of drop off and pick up times, not to fast him and to actually bring food unlike dogs and cats, etc. I had to schedule a day off work to do it. The day before I hadn't received a reminder call, so I decided to call and confirm since I live over an hour away. Reception said there was no appointment, but did have all our information in the computer. She said she would call the vet who does it to see if she can still do it or not. Did not get a call back that day or even the next day. Very poor communication and receptionist. We had to find a new vet. read more

found out more info about my dog in my first visit than all my many visits to the old vet. Old vet had me spending money all the time, RedStar has saved me money in visits. The whole tech team is awesome and run interference for the actual doctors so they can spend more time taking care of the animals. read more

We recently moved to the area and one of my dogs started showing signs of illness. I took her here and she was quickly diagnosed as diabetic. They showed me how to give the insulin injections and made sure I was comfortable and understood what needed to change in our routine. Just over a week later, we had to come back and say goodbye to my best companion. Everyone was so kind and caring as I ugly cried while saying goodbye to my Panda. I called Red Star two months ago with a very sick pet lamb. After calling so many large animals clinics who either wouldn't do a farm call to our area or had zero availability, I called Red Star despite their mediocre reviews online. They immediately scheduled an appointment to come out the very next day. When I dropped off a fecal sample at the office ahead of time, the receptionists and technicians were welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful. The veterinarian and technicians were efficient and gentle. The lamb turned the corner almost immediately. I was impressed that the clinic even called the following week to check on him. Fast forward to an accidental injury to another of our sheep today. They told me to bring him right over and they'd work him in. Absolutely everyone went out of their way to be kind and say hello to him. They worked him in quickly and patched him right up. He went home obviously feeling so much better. I'm not sure what the meh reviews I saw previously were about, but these ladies are awesome in my book! From the first phone call, I've seen nothing but kindness, friendliness and efficient, compassionate medicine at a reasonable rate - five stars! read more

While I do have reserved confidence in the vet who does my farm visits, my experience with others has been spotty. I believe some of the vets are more experienced with certain farm species than others. This leaves the customer/farmer in a difficult situation when an urgent matter arises. Additionally, one should expect to be met with general Resistance, condescension, and ridicule from some of the office staff if you call with questions for the vet or need guidance from the vet. Be prepared to be belittled if you, as a non vet, call with specific concerns about specific diagnoses. A good vet is as good as their support staff. There is a lack of good communication and customer service skills here. i hope they correct this soon. I would not leave a poor review based on a singular event. i Have now had multiple phone interactions with a difficult receptionist in this practice. I hope they can figure this out. We need good vets. read more

Did exrays, and ultrasound for dogs pregnancy. Told five maybe six puppies. After birthing she birthed only 4. Because we were told five maybe 6 we called, they advised another ex ray Because the puppies can be stuck, and cause harm to all. We did, then told that the "previous ex rays" only had four skulls, and no more puppies. this previous vet should've read the first ex rays correctly, we wouldn't been concerned with pupp being stuck. The last vet identified what first vet should've. We were still charged 2 hundred plus dollars for their lack of ability to review the first ex rays. Explained my concerns, but was told the mother could've been harmed if one was stuck. They ignored the fact that ex rays from the first visit identified "only four", and that was my scope in my communication. They kept referring to a puppy stuck could've brought harm to mom. read more

The reason for my rating is I arrived 10 min. early to my 0915 appointment. At 0945 i was still in the waiting room and had yet to be seen. I had to leave after wasting over any hour of my time because of other appointments for something that should have been very simple (update K9 vaccinations). read more

I love red star vet. It is my first choice with my animals. They have treated my dogs and my horses and the staff is always so good with the animals! They can be a little pricey and I especially don't like when they say they are going to do something with my animal and don't let me know that it will cost extra on the bill. But overall they are a very good vet clinic! I also love that they do free learning seminars read more

Took an 8 week old pup in for shots. Asked the vet tech if she could trim up a couple nails. She said no problem and trimmed 6 nails. Didn't say it was going cost anything. Then ONLY charged me $22 for my pup being "well behaved". read more

Absolutely awful and worthless place to take your pet. They can care less about your pet, they just want your money. I've taken my dog there twice. The first time was because she was limping around on her back leg and was having trouble walking. When we got there, all that they told us was that she had a UTI and fluid on her knee and gave us an anti inflammatory prescription for her to take. Once she was finished with her medicine, we noticed that she had not gotten any better and the pain was spreading to different limbs. So we called the vet to tell them she hasn't gotten any better, what should we do now. They told us to bring her in again. This time, they did blood work and took x-rays. They told me that she had an infection in her lungs which was causing her discomfort and making it hard for her to walk and move around, which made absolutely no sense because what would her lungs have to do with her being able to stand or walk. Anyway, this vet bill cost me $450 which covered the x-rays, blood work, and medication. The medicine they wanted her to take this time was another anti-inflammatory and a steroid. While taking them, she hasn't gotten any better. She has taken all the medicine they gave us, and now is in so much more pain and can't walk at all or stand without help. Also, to add onto spending $450 for nothing to work, I also had to wait in the office for over 2 hours for them to take x-rays and do some blood work. We called to tell them that she had gotten worse and can't afford to keep paying a bunch of money for them to do nothing about fixing my dogs problems. The receptionist told us that she would speak to the vet and that she would get back to us, we are still yet to hear back from them. They can care less about your pet and absolutely love your money. read more
