We stayed a second time because they made my birthday so special and it was a lovely place to stay. This time: So far - very disappointed I called to see if we could check in early. This was at about 2:15 PM. The gal who answered clearly didn't want to be there and was very terse and unfriendly. She said she'd text if it was ready early. She never did. She clearly has no business being in hospitality. Soooo I checked in at 3:51 pm Room Ready. Very unfriendly. Gave me explanations to the key, a code to door and a dog towel. She never did text to tell me when it was ready. She never went over the details of the hotel, breakfast, other than that the hot tub was broken. I had to use chat GBT to find out when breakfast was. Icings on the cake? Last time we were here it was also my Birthday. They left a lovely bottle of bubbles. This time a happy birthday card some chocolate and a brand new wine opener with NO WINE. Last but not least, Roku tv loaded, opened live TV clicked on every channel and the screen turned black. I tried everything trying to get on turning it off making sure it was updated. It was not a user error. I can assure you. Said front desk lady was unhelpful. I tried what she suggested. No luck. She should've offered us a different room. The keurig was nice but no water. The self phone charging pads built in to the lamps seemed helpful to use but both sides did not work. Needless to say our stay has been grossly disappointing. Why did I pay $200 + when you have so many opportunities for lovely hotels elsewhere. Looking forward To speaking to management about our stay and how my complaints will be addressed.

We stayed in one of the king rooms with the private patios on the main floor. Had a sofa and fire pit outside that made sipping wine late into the evening enjoyable. We also loved the fully fenced private patios because you could have your pup out there with you chilling in the evening and know that your fur baby is next to you and safe. The room was a little on the small side, but had everything you could possibly need. It was nicely decorated and very clean and stocked. Breakfast buffet of your typical eggs, sausage, pastries etc was adequate and the biscuits with sausage gravy were buttery delicious. We hung out in the pool one afternoon and met some new people. It was fine, nothing special but was a nice little pool area. The hot tub is not available for use at the moment which would have made it a little better if it was. The cute little steam saunas in the yard were a really nice and unexpected bonus. You reserve 20 minutes in advance minimum so that it can heat up. And we loved it. Staff is friendly and attentive, grounds are nice. We have stayed in Leavenworth 2 other times and both times we basically thought "yeah, not sure it's worth coming up here" when the lodging is not great. The Blue Elk put all of those thoughts to rest and we will definitely come back and stay here! We absolutely loved it and the fact that it's dog friendly makes it a huge bonus for us. We were in the river view room and it was cozy with a great deck view of the river. Ludger was an amazing host and really made us feel welcome -- can I also say he puts some restaurant chefs to shame with his breakfast creations? I found it super thoughtful that they had a check in sheet asking about allergies, dietary restrictions, and even taste preferences. He definitely accommodated to my vegetarian palate while still cooking up some of the best meals I have ever had at an inn, hotel, and possibly even restaurants. Kudos to him. It was super nice to have fresh fruit from the orchard be included the meals and it really added such a great touch to them. Location: Perfectly situated away from the noise of town yet close enough to walk but you're better off driving to the town Leavenworth which is approximately 5 minutes away. Accommodations: Perfect Bed and Breakfast place with only 7 guest rooms (all the rooms are upstairs but one). The rooms are very quiet, no noise from foot traffic in the lobby or hallways, or young uns. The room decorations are exactly as you see them on their website. Large comfortable bed with warm fluffy pillows and comforters. We were very fortunate to stay at two different rooms during our stay. The Almorosen and Dornroschen with both very different and unique feel. Waking up every morning standing on the balcony with fresh coffee overseeing the snow on the valley and nearby mountains was magical. Breakfast: How do I describe it other than seeing every photos posted does not do it justice. It was very German theme and man it was so delicious !! (not the standard hotel continental breakfast either). The staff and host was on point every day ready to serve your needs. After walking around town there's always late treats (cake, pastry or cookies) waiting for you in the kitchen to have with a variety of tea or coffee. They also have an area with a giant fireplace and piano you can relax. There are Christmas trees everywhere (bedroom, eating area, relaxing lobby and stairway leading upstairs) fully decorated with lights. Every thing about the decorations, food served was very European (German). Service: First class service everyday. If you needed privacy or room cleaned you got it, always fresh thick towels with a warm bathrobe waiting in closet. The proprietor (Hayley) I hope was her name was super friendly and gave a little history about Abendblume and the town of Leavenworth. Staff was very helpful as previously mentioned. By far this was THE BEST Bed and Breakfast Place we have ever stayed. Every attention to details (inside the building and outside) was well thought out with a German theme. Arrived right at check-in time which is 4pm. I had not received any access codes. Had to call and waited on hold, just trying to get in. Management said I had booked after they went home on Tuesday after they went home. Okay, but I arrived a full workday later. Bad excuse. Thursday, I hiked for hours. Feet and legs hurt, just wanted a hot shower. None of the doors worked even though I was using the same code. Had to call again and wait some more. I was told all the door keypads had "de-synced" or "gone offline". Had to wait for all the keypads to be rebooted remotely before I could get in again. Location is good. Central to downtown. Parking is well-designated. However, I never had so many access issues at a hotel or Air BnB before. Sadly won't be returning unless there's a screaming deal.
