I tried to be open minded about the experience considering I was expecting a sleigh ride in the snow. However, we ended up taking a hay ride in a horse pulled carriage. My rating of three star is based on my overall experience. I grew up around horses and riding in the mountains. This experience wasn't worth the $50 it's cost. We were pulled through a small area of a 120 acre farm where there weren't many sites to see unless you live in a large city. The positives about this experience is the people. They were extremely friendly and helped with some ideas on my travel experience in Leavenworth, WA. We visited in January and everything was covered in snow. Overall, a wonderful experience. Beautiful scenery, extremely friendly owners, amusing guide, prices are fair too. What an outstanding experience! We did the sleigh ride today - loved seeing the gorgeous scenery and all of the animals, learning about the property and the town, and of course appreciated all of the sleigh ride jokes! Ross was our guide for the sleigh ride today! We had Dude and Captain for our horses as well! All very pleasant! The history of the ranch and how they control fire in the area was intriguing! Very beautiful and away from the city! Their dogs were very sweet and Ross had plenty punned jokes! read more

This was a really great place to go on a sleigh ride. It's a small loop around their snowy acreage with a bit of history, a beautiful puppy, two huge mules, some cowboy jokes and at the end our cowboy recited a really sincere poem. It's a half hour sitting on a wood bench with a blanket for each row. It was cold (30) and I would highly recommend full ski outfits and hand and foot warmers as some of our younger kids (not fully suited up) got really cold. Hot chocolate in a warm teepee at the end. So, I'm no sleigh ride expert, but I was expecting a ride down some country road and I kind of saw this as more of a tour of a small logging operation. That being said, the staff and facility were outstanding, the ride was comfortable and safe and the price was very reasonable. I may check out one of the other sleigh ride providers when I'm in the neighborhood again, but feel you really can't go wrong at Red-Tail Canyon Farm. read more

We went on a sleigh ride and it was so much fun. The people who own the place are so friendly and made the atmosphere so welcoming. There were also multiple dogs on the site that were willing to play with you if you approached them, other than that they wouldn't bother you. The sleigh ride was beautiful. It was all on their property and it was worth going again simply to see the sites! It was cold (obviously) but they provided blankets for everyone as well. Kelly was our driver for the sleigh ride. We were running late for a number of reasons, and Google turned us off the road earlier than we should have resulting in further delay and a panic phone call to the owner (Marianne) for navigation help (hint, stay on the road and keep going north until the road ends). Kelly and Ross didn't give us any grief about our being late (I was already embarrassed so I appreciated that). Kelly was very knowledgeable and answered our many questions. Absolutely horrible customer service. They act like you are doing them a favor by visiting this place. It's a diamond in the rough and by rough I mean the owners are just rough. Came here for a sleigh ride on the busy Valentine's Day/President's Day 3-day weekend. The husband-and-wife team were very friendly, as were their dogs and horses. They even had some friendly turkeys that you could gobble and and they would reply! This would be a great activity with kids, and the adults will be constantly entertained by the husbands one-liners, farm jokes, and life observations. read more

This rating is based on the LACK of customer service. Sad to say I haven't actually used their services but just based on the lady who answered the phone, I would rather give my business to another local company that does sleigh rides. I called this morning to make a reservation for a sleigh ride and a lady just answered "hello?" so that put me off guard. I proceeded to make the reservation and she said," I don't know where you're from, but there is no snow here. It rained all day yesterday" (and it wasn't in a nice tone) Before I could even say thanks, she was already putting the receiver down and hung up on me. RUDE. Learn some customer service. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our what turned out to be a wagon ride this week at Red Tail Canyon! When I called to book a sleigh ride, the woman on the phone let me know that there wasn't enough snow yet to run the sleighs, so they were still offering wagon rides instead. She saved my reservation but told me to think it over and call her back to confirm the next day. We looked at their Instagram and decided that the wagon ride would be just as fun, so we went ahead and kept the booking. Sure enough, the wagon ride was fantastic! Our driver was awesome and kept us all laughing with corny jokes, and the property was beautiful! Our driver was also super knowledgeable about the horses and I felt good knowing that they are truly treated as part of the family. We finished off our visit with hot coco & the fire to warm us up! We would highly recommend coming to red tail canyon, even if there's not enough snow for sleighs- the wagon ride is still amazing, and this family run farm is one you should definitely support. read more

BEWARE! Marianne and her husband stole $4,200 dollars from my husband and I. We gave them two checks equaling this amount and got nothing in return. For almost two years we had planned to get married at their venue on 6.20.2020. When corona hit, Marianne initially said she was comfortable with us having as many guests as we were comfortable with. Then, 30 days before our wedding, she changed her mind and asked us to only have 10 guests or postpone the event. We declined. We felt horrible that we had to scramble last minute and try find a new venue/caterer etc. we also felt bad for her and her husband. My husband and I offered to gift her $1,000 and asked that she return the rest of our money via check. She agreed. When I didn't see anything in the mail I tried reaching Marianne. She ignored my texts and emails. Then she had her husband call me, who I've never had any form of communication with. He told me she refused to speak with me, that we had an illegal wedding and they would not be giving us any of our money back. Who takes four thousand dollars and provides nothing in return? Red Tail Canyon Farm. These people are thieves. I'm taking them to court and I hope they can learn from their mistakes. read more

Food was not great! Had chicken that was dry, ribs were pure fat! The ladies were awesome, not so much the cowboy guy (kind of a weird guy). but I would not recommend the food. Seasoning was good, but bad quality meats. read more

Did as the website instructed and made a reservation. I did this two weeks in advance and they call the same day we are scheduled to tell me that they cannot accommodate us because they cant take their horses out 5 times in a day....well maybe you should have thought of that before you schedule 5 rides....ended up at another place that was wonderful but a lot more expensive. read more

This was a terrific trip, and exactly what we were looking for as a fun day experience for our two families with kids all under the age of 5. The owners spread the group out in two sleighs so no one was packed in, the horses and scenery were beautiful and the driver friendly and personable. The trip was just long enough to keep the kids enthralled and stopped before they got bored or cold. Highly recommend! read more

My husband and I decided to try a sleigh ride on this visit to Leavenworth since neither of us had ever been on one. Overall it was a good experience. The couple who run Red-Tail Canyon Farm are very personable. They have two sweet dogs and two cute turkeys that "talk" to you during the course of the ride. The grounds were lovely, especially with a fresh blanket of snow that had fallen just a few hours earlier. The only downside (for me, at least) was our driver's frequent, overly corny jokes. I don't mind a couple here or there, but when the entire 40-minute ride is heavily peppered with them, it detracts from the beauty of the scenery and the enjoyment of the ride, in my opinion. On our next trip, we will seek out a place that offers private rides for two (and perhaps request a quiet guide at the time of reservation). :o) read more
