Redwings are excellent shoes and I have a pair that I expect will last me 10+ years. That said, the customer service at this store sucks and the guy who works there clearly doesn't want to be there. "I recently visited the Red Wing store on Mansell Road in Alpharetta, and I have to say, I left feeling disappointed and frustrated. My husband and I have purchased Red Wing boots before in New York and other places, and we've always received outstanding service, which we expect when buying boots that cost over $300. Unfortunately, that wasn't our experience here. When we walked into the store, we weren't acknowledged at first. After waiting a bit, we were finally approached by a staff member, and my husband explained he was looking for a specific type of boot. The response? The employee said they didn't carry them and seemed uninterested in helping us find something similar. My husband then asked to try on a similar style in a size 11, and another employee, a blonde woman, interjected with an attitude, questioning why he would need to go up a size. Her dismissive tone and the way she communicated made us feel like our questions were a nuisance. To make matters worse, when my husband asked if the boots he'd found online could be returned to the store if ordered through them, the employee explained that because they were a "family-owned" store, they couldn't process returns on corporate orders. She added that if we ordered from them directly, we could return them, but if we ordered online, we'd have to deal with corporate. This left us feeling pressured and dismissed. My husband decided not to buy the boots because of the unfriendly service, and as we left, we both politely said "thank you." Neither of the employees replied, adding to the cold experience. Overall, I'd suggest buying online if you're considering Red Wing boots. This store didn't make us feel welcome or appreciated, and customer service is essential when you're paying top dollar. We've had great experiences at other locations, like in New York, but this store's customer care was lacking. As a family-owned business, they should be fostering a warm and friendly environment--not making customers feel like an inconvenience." Dude, the girl there was very friendly but after I went though all the motions she basically told me red wing boots weren't for me. And seconded my opinion that I should just get another pair or thorogoods. I was almost a convert but the sales associate was obviously having a bad day and didn't want to deal with me so, I won't be back. May try a different red wing store someday but honestly now I'm looking back to my trusty thorogoods or maybe some danners. Boo for service. read more

I have been buying shoes in this store for many years, but right now the customer service is terrible. Today I stopped by because I bought a pair of shoes 5 months ago and they started to unravel. The person who was attending the store offered to just fix the shoe with glue. When I've gone before, the owner has been very nice and he tends to replace my shoe if there is any problem. I don't think a customer should be treated this way. This happened on 10/13/20. I like Red Wings shoes but it is the last time that I will buy shoes in this store. This is actually for the Woodstock, GA, store, which is owned by the same people that own the Roswell store. I've been looking for red wings in a mens' 7 or 7.5 forever; they're difficult to find. I'm visiting my family and see there's a Red Wing store down the street, thinking I'll finally be able to find some in my size and see the colors in person. I went in, and there was NOTHING below a mens' 9. Additionally, they didn't even carry the Heritage round toe boots with the white soles (only those chukka toes) in the store. You're handed a catalog to look at and told they can order them. I can see the catalog on the website; I didn't go into the store to look at a catalog. I wanted boots. I wanted to buy boots and walk out with them. Otherwise, I could order a bunch online and return whatever doesn't fit. There's a sign up by the 'management' saying that you can only try on boots in store on the day you're going to buy. I had every intention of buying, but what if the boots just don't fit your feet (assuming they actually carry the ones you want in the size you want)? What if you don't like the soles on the ones in the store and want a different model (cork, lug, white, etc.)? What a friggin' rude and ridiculous sign to put up in a SHOE store. Personally, I want comfortable shoes that FIT, oh, and are COMFORTABLE. This requires putting them on my feet and walking around the store in them. So... the salesperson says, "I'll check with my manager to see if you can try some on..." After looking to see that there's nothing even close to my size, she said, "oh, you can come back in a week, and we might have more, or you can drive to Roswell, where the store is larger (as said, owned by the same people)". Great. I guess I'm supposed to call that store and ask specifically about their inventory and whether they'll actually let you try before buying. Don't go out of your way to stop here. It's a total waste of time. read more

CAUTION: You may be surprised and have to keep a shoe that you have never worn and that tightens your foot. In this store most of there products do not have exchange or return policy, much less tell you or give you some exchange policy card. The owner is really polite to attend you but the policy adopted to their clients is the worst I ever have seen in America. No wonder why this store is always empty. I'd like to start off by saying that you get what you pay for. These shoes may be more expensive than others but they are built for comfort and durability. Anyways this was my first real trip to a redwing store and I have to say I was impressed. The store has a rustic feel and there is a variety to choose from. Dan, the owner was there and he took incredible care of me. He is really what makes this store shine. He will treat you and your wallet with respect. He is looking out for you and your feet. He has a lot of knowledge and will find you exactly what you need. I will be a lifelong customer and would go out of my way to work with Dan. If you haven't already go to this store and get yourself a real pair of shoes or boots. read more

I visited this red wing shoe store Saturday, February 9th, 2013. I went after work, and got there about a half hour before the store closed. Dan, the owner, was helping a man who drove from pretty far away to find the perfect work boot. Dan greeted my fiance and I when we came in the door, and told us it would be just a minute. He was very gracious to us for waiting. When the man he was helping started flipping through the Red Wing catalog, Dan wasted no time in coming over the check on us. I wanted a very specific boot (8146), which I expected I would have to special order. Dan picked out some boots for me to try on some boots that shared the same "mold" to get the correct fit. As it turned out, My fiance vetoed my boot, in favor of a different color (1907). Dan had my size in stock of the new boot. He gave me a pair of thick socks (which I got to keep!) to try them on with, since I was wearing thin dress socks. One of the boots was a little tight in the toe, so Dan took it in the back and put it on a stretcher. He brought us each a cold bottle of water while we waited. Five minutes later it fit perfectly! These boots were made in America, and Dan had little metal American flags on the laces. My fiance loved the little flags, so he gave her a pair of her own! He also said that he doesn't stock my leather laces, but if I called him, he'd order them for me free of charge. We kept Dan and his daughter (an employee) at the store easily a half hour, possibly even an hour, after it was supposed to be closed. Even though he was busy with the other gentleman (who was even more picky than I am), Dan made it a priority to take care of us. Red Wing already makes a good product, especially in the American made line. But Dan's attitude, and customer service made the experience even better. I know i will be back! I have recently discovered the Women's Heritage collection. I received excellent service during my visit to the store. My foot was properly sized and I chose the Clara boot in the Amber...we needed to order this color in my size and it arrived in just 3 days. Upon opening the box I put them on and wore them 2 straight days at work. The boot is beautifully hand crafted and felt comfortable from the get go, without "breaking" them in! I received numerous compliments. I am a size 9 and the 9 fits perfectly...I am extremely pleased with the quality and style of my new boots.
