yeah the cup is messy...but the contents are crazy good! A rich creamy surface hiding a pool of a complex caffeinated decoction!

Hold on to your hats people, Brown has some serious competition for my caffeine dollars! If you had told me that I was going to get real old fashioned hand pulled espresso on the square in San Marcos, I would have been intrigued, but still mildly skeptical. But this place is the real deal! The hand pump truly brings out the skills of the barista who now works with the complexity of coaxing the best flavor out of the coffee without acridity, and these guys have a fabulous one. This espresso had the creamy mouthfeel that is rarely found in coffee shops these days (and yes the kind of bean and roast matters, but still). The espresso was a sheer delightful expression of the coffee blend roasted till its deepest darkest character was revealed. A gorgeous crema topped a wonderfully toasty decoction with aromas of bitter almonds that faded into a floral finish. The artfully pulled espresso is complemented by very well made Cubano's and flat whites (that rival the ones I had in Australia). I had thought about not writing about this place in case ..they become too popular and my wait times increase, but they are too good to not be on your radar, especially if you are a coffee lover.

Great service! The barista had some recommendations for me as a first time customer here and was very friendly. Great music, a comfy couch, and a peaceful atmosphere made for a pretty awesome visit. And the espresso is really, really good...shots are pulled manually which is fun to watch. I'll be back for sure!

Redbud has the best coffee in San Marcos. The owner, Austin, will make you the best cappuccino or latte you've ever had on his little Italian Pavoni espresso machine. Or get his coffee beans that he roasts right there in the shop (excellent aromatherapy).

I don't drink coffee…read more But Mr R surprised me with a croissant for the second time when he went off to get coffee for himself, and these are lovely. Earlier in the week was a plain croissant and this morning's is almond. Big as my face, lovely delicate crisp outer shell, a bit of marzipan inside. Good enough I had to ask where tf have you been going, this is wonderful. He says they're about $5 apiece, same as his plain black coffee. I know you could get one cheaper at HEB but they're usually the softer sandwich kind, not platonic ideal flaky breakfast or fancy flavored indulgence. Plus if you've ever actually made croissants you know they should charge $1000 each to start with; probably less work to plan a wedding.

Coffee Shop No. 514 Shotgun House Coffee Roasters…read moreSan Antonio, TX June 12, 2025 Shotgun House Coffee Roasters is located in an old warehouse. The space is open and bright, but there are many neat nooks with different seating. Has a very industrial feel, but welcoming at the same time. The decor is eclectic. In one spot you'll find an out of place yet placed chandelier. Be sure to look around because the walls are painted with vibrant colors, uniques images on the wall, and mismatched furniture. Somehow the space works. It's inviting and memorable. After exploring the inside go check out their garden area. I was in awe by the large heavy antique iron door. I examined the door daydreaming of the stories it could tell. I found the barista to be quirky and fun. He has a lot of knowledge about coffee, suggested some other local coffee shops, and even gave us a brief rundown of the coffee scene and its history in San Antonio. Besides being easy going and laid back, the barista made a fantastic cortado in the most unique vessel I have ever drank a cortado from; a 4-ounce mini quilted Ball jar. What a brilliant and creative way to serve a cortado. It's a fool's proof way to ensure the a perfect milk to espresso ratio. I had a wonderful experience at Shotgun House Coffee Roasters; it will definitely go down as one of my most memorable interactions with a barista. Enjoying life one cortado at a time!
