I ordered the Coach Morros sandwich and the sandwich to be too dry and the bacon too salty. I did not taste the sundried tomato mayo at all which was advertised under the sandwich description. I did enjoy the warmth and crisp of the oven baked Italian bread. We ordered as a group, and I am wondering if that impacted the product of my sandwich. Pignone's Redding Ridge Market and Deli is a general store and delicatessen that opened in Redding, Connecticut in 1835. The historical establishment has passed through several owners over nearly 200 years. From 1952 - 2009 it was owned by the Bethel-based Caraluzzi's Supermarket chain. An electrical fire shut down the establishment in 2009 and it stayed dormant until 2011 when it was purchased and reinvigorated by Jordan Wright. He sadly passed away from bone cancer in 2016. Since 2017 it has been owned by Nicholas Pignone. Aside from their grocery sales, the market prepares fresh meals everyday. The deli (which carries Boar's Head products) produces a wide array of sandwiches, wraps, burgers, salads, tacos, breakfast items, baked goods and ice cream treats. My family and I recently stopped at Redding Ridge while we were visiting friends in Redding. When lunchtime approached, our friends recommended getting takeout from the deli as it was just down the street. Walking inside Redding Ridge was like going back in time. Old-fashioned general store/delicatessens like this are a dying breed. The place seemed to be a favorite hangout for locals. A customer could get prepared food to go, but they could also go grocery shopping here. Some of their prepared foods looked excellent. After looking over the menu, my wife and I decided to order and share the "Helen Keller" (chicken salad, bacon, Vermont cheddar, oil & vinegar, lettuce, tomato, onions on a sub roll) and the "Coach Morros" (grilled chicken, bacon, cheddar, sun dried tomato mayo, lettuce, tomato, onions on oven-baked Italian bread). The place is the only game in town, and they know it. Ordered, by mistake a Helen Keller, for pick up. Thought it would be the smoked Turkey, we even asked the girl who answered the call...WRONG! Tuna fish Which I normally like, but not just before Lent, when I'll be eating a lot of fish. We got two sandwiches. One without onions. I of course, get the onions...and boy an hour later, major HEART BURN. As I was driving back to NYC. Oh boy. What a mistake. Look the people up here in Redding don't have a choice. We found this place on our way to Collins Huntington Park. What a surprise with great food and excellent service. The food is freshly made and the place is clean. Don't believe the online menus for this roadside store. Prices have jumped up and those prices are not reflected on the menu. It's not like it's great food either. It's passable at best. This place is the slowest and worst customer service you can get. Every time I order it takes 20-30 minutes just for a simple sandwich. Not because it takes long to make but because they let it sit on the counter and take a hundred more orders instead of simply reading a name and handing out a sandwich. Normally I've had a good experience here, but the past two times have been disappointing. They used to ask whether you want lettuce, tomato, onions on your sandwich, but that's been dropped and buyer beware, you may be surprised when you get home and unwrap a fairly naked sandwich. The menu offers a wide range of good quality food which my whole family enjoys. Just check that all the ingredients are there before you leave. About 50% of the time my orders are missing items. I got a veggie burger once with absolutely nothing on it. Luckily I was eating there, and was able to ask for the items it was missing. It's just a habit that I've become accustomed to. Walked in on a rainy day starving for a filling sandwich and got more than just that. I was having the worst day to top it off. I had the Coach Morros - Grilled Chicken, Bacon and melted Cheddar w/ Lettuce, Tomato, Onion and sun dried Tomato Aoli on toasted Italian .. Looooove this place! We take a Sunday afternoon drive from like 45 mins away just to come here once in a while! They make badass burgers with so much cheese and bacon, huge sandwiches with fresh crusty bread and are always willing and happy to accommodate any special requests. Anyplace that's willing to wrap my burger in lettuce instead of a bun is in my book. The prices are awesomely low for the quality and portions of the food. They make all the food super fast so you don't have to wait long! They have a huge menu so there's something for everyone. The Ridge has become a family favorite here, after we moved to the land of "No Takeout." Sandwiches are consistently good, Mexican food is not exactly Mexican but very enjoyable, and breakfast is fab. The grocery section was recently overhauled and seems a bit smaller, but I haven't come in for anything they didn't have -- the closest big grocery store is far enough away that I don't mind paying for the convenience at the Ridge. Love the fancy sodas that have been popping up, too. My husband loves to try obscure sodas so it's nice to surprise him with a new one from time to time. Menu highlights for our family: both kids love the mac and cheese; and the Mark Twain sandwich, the chicken parm sandwich and the chicken quesadilla are others we often grab. The milkshakes are also a great treat to bring home for the kids in hot weather, and they always have fun flavor combinations. Call ahead and they'll have your order waiting for you! read more

"The Ridge", as this place was affectionately known to me and mine, was the only place to get groceries and ancillary items for about ten miles in any direction. Like most small Latin American countries, this place went through a variety of different regimes of varying qualities. We visit regularly and always find it to be a wonderful place for casual dining, a snack or some grocery items. It's a treat to find genuine small-town feel and honest food at a reasonable price. So, I asked the cashier if 'The Ridge' had grown friendlier over the last few years, and she immediately acknowledged, that it used to be pretty grumpy. This place is just down the road from me so I do know it quite well. It burnt down a few years ago, was completely rebuilt and is now clean and well designed. The sandwiches are made of good quality ingredients, just check they got your order correct before you leave with take out. They hire young women to staff the cash register and do not train them enough, no customer service ethic. Avoid at all costs at midday on a weekday as every high school kid in Redding shows up for lunch. read more

Went in once again! Awful experience! The food is the only thing that is great, and the cooks. I heard that new owners took over and they do offer a bigger variety their cashiers are rude! Poor cooks seem to be stressed running around doing everything while the cashiers seem to be just on theirs phones. The service is the only thing that is awful and the new owners should think of hiring younger girls because they seem more suitable than the older girls!! This place has re-opened in March of 2011 under new ownership. They re-did the place and it is now a great country market with a great menu of freshly cooked specials and a wide variety of hot and cold sandwiches and great milkshakes.
