After scouring Los Angeles and Long Beach for a key blank that could not be found anywhere, I stumbled upon Redmond's Lock & Key, who happened to have just what I was looking for. Keep in mind, I've been searching for weeks. Because of this, I am utterly convinced that they are the best in the business... at least in the Los Angeles County area. The locksmiths there are very professional, very nice, and eager to please. I was so happy that I offered to leave them a tip but they refused. I had continuous problems with lockout of my garage. Usually due to remotes getting bumped around in my purse and being reprogrammed. We never had the keys to manually override the garage door opener for emergencies. So after one more incident of being ready to head out the door and finding the garage remote not working I HAD IT! I called them and they were at my home within 30 minutes. He picked the lock, rekeyed it and cut two brand new keys in about 10 minutes. Next I figured since they were making a house call we should also rekey our front door! He didn't charge me for the two blank keys and also reset my garage door remote. Wow! I called on Monday to ask about getting a quote. The woman I spoke to went on for 10 minutes (no...really...10 minutes) about society and how "everything's different these days". She told me she was the owner's grandmother, how long she'd been working with him, etc. etc. etc. Finally I got her to take my number and have someone call me the next day. No one did. I waited. Finally I called back 3 days later. I was told someone would call me back. Dave did and asked what I was looking for. I told him security for 3 doors. He said he would come by the next day from 9-10 to do a site visit for a quote. At 9:45 I called his office. They said they didn't know where he was but he "should be there soon". At 10:10 Dave showed up to my office. I stopped my 10 o'clock training to meet with him. I showed him what we were using in Northern California and that we wanted something similar. He immediately became condescending and said that they don't install such cheap products. That if I wanted a product made in Taiwan I'd have to talk to someone else. He was being so rude I told him I didn't think he could help us with what we needed. He then dropped my business card on the floor and pushed the front door so hard, it hit the wall, knocking plaster to the ground. The person answering the phone was completely unprofessional. The supposed owner, Dave, was unprofessional and extremely immature. Apparently he is unaware that a happy customer tells an average of 5 people about their experience and an unhappy one tells an average of 14 people. Well, hopefully more than 14 people will see this review! I have a budget of $20k to update the camera system. I was going to offer the job to the company that did the door system if they were good. I had a great experience with Redmond's (Red Security Group) having a thumb latch on my front door repaired. I called after 5:00 one evening and they still picked up the phone and were very polite and professional. It wasn't an emergency but they still had a technician out at 10:00 the next morning. I had previously contacted the manufacturer of the lock set and was told the parts for the thumb latch were obsolete. The technician, Adam Mendoza, told me the same thing when he arrived. He took the lock set out to his truck and within a few minutes brought it back and it was fixed. He did tell me it probably wouldn't last but at least now I can replace the lock sets in my own time. I called Redmond for a service call to replace a specialty lock, they came, checked the hardware and told me that they would get back to me. After 1 week, I called to follow up and see if they could fix my problem. The girl who answered told me that she would ask the locksmith to call me back, a few days later and no call. I don't have the time to keep following up. After 2 weeks wasted, I'm just glad that my situation is not urgent. I feel like my time has really been wasted. read more

Ever try and get a key made at Home Depot? Then you'll appreciate just how quickly you can get in and out of Redmond's with all the keys you need in less time it takes to park and find someone capable of making a key at Home Depot. Keys aren't the only thing they do well. The prices for hardware are very competitive and installation is fast and clean. I took it to the next level - Redmond's installed beautiful oil rubbed bronze Baldwin hardware in my home. I couldn't find this hardware at any of the "Big Box Stores". All the doors, closets, etc. It all matches now and the front door hardware is awesome. I always support the local business' in my area whenever possible. read more

YEAH RIGHT! They came to service locks at my business, and so I decided to let them look at my safe that I purchased from Aviation Lock & Key (who they recently bought out). Terrible for me about this purchase! Aviation Lock & Key returns calls the same day. I actually forgot that I dropped the safe off as I assumed they would call me when they had an answer. Was driving by about a month later and remembered, so I stopped in. His mom looked at the safe with me that was still on the ground with my name and number in it, "he's been really busy lately, so I'm so sorry he hasn't got back to you yet, I'll have him call you." Well, guess who drove by today, around 2 months since dropping it off. The really busy man greeted me, I asked him what was up with the safe, and he told me that my safe was not a good one anyways, and it would be cheaper/better to just by a new one...........and about the call back to let me know this? I'm in the customer service industry. And from what I've seen from this place, he's apparently taken on WAYYYYY more than he can handle. It's a shame, since I like contributing to mom and pop businesses. This family will never hear from me or any of my businesses again. Thanks for your outstanding (or lack there of) customer service.
