    Good people drink good beer!!

We will have to try this place again under normal circumstances - whatever the new "normal" will be after COVID! Right now, we were just really glad they were open and allowed us to purchase coffee! Then we looked at the menu, and hubby noticed Fish Tacos... Oh-oh! I was not really hungry, but was so tempted because I love Fish Tacos! These were neat because they were wrapped in lettuce, so a little bit healthy with your fried food, and of course fish, too! They were very tasty, and reasonably big pieces of fish. Nice sauce without being too strong. A bit of coleslaw tucked in there. Mild cheese sprinkled on top. About $12.00. I was a little disappointed there were no fries. So this was more of an appetizer than a meal; not overly filling... Which is kinda good, right? Coz like I said, I was not really hungry to start with. The waitress was really nice. Unfortunately, she would not serve us in the restaurant, as per COVID rules, but I found it odd that 2 other people were sitting at a table nursing beers, so I don't really get the double standard. However, these unusual times are not normal circumstances, so I would go back at some future time when the whole pandemic thing calms down. Good luck to all the restaurants recovering from lock down! I look forward to being able to mix and mingle again, when it is safe to do so.

We were returning to Ottawa from Eagles Nest hike and stopped here for supper. We ordered the Spicy Stake wrap, wings, pesto chicken flatbread, avocado taco and a 3 little pig poutine.. also I asked the waiter if they have Coke and she said yes and...... it was Pepsi when I tasted it(give a pass as it is common for ppl to think Coke =Pepsi.. which is NOOOOT!! ). Our kids liked the poutine and the wings very much.. my wrap was also very nice with the stake pieces perfectly cooked. Could have added an extra pinch of salt. For me the highlight was the Avocado taco which had breaded and deep fried avocado pieces in lettuce shells instead of taco shells.. very interesting!! And tasty.. also we both liked the flat bread. Overall the food was very nice and very good quantity. I felt it was a little pricy than to a comparative place but for the food quality they most certainly deserve the rating. Good seating both indoors, outdoors and good for kids. Also good for large groups and on a Saturday evening, remember to make a reservation as it got filled up pretty fast when we were there.

The waitresses are great! The food was not as great though. I got mini ribs and they were mostly fat. I also got poutine and I loved that it was gluten free but it was pretty tasteless. I think im just being too picky and I still would recommend going there! And it IS KID FRIENDLY!

Great vibe and service by locals (I believe). Would like to see a few "low-cal" items or smallish salads too.

The jerk chicken at Island Grill is amazing! The chicken was tender fall off the bone, and nice and spicy and full of flavour. The chicken thigh was cut up, but no bone fragments, which I appreciated. The jerk chicken meal was $13.50 and came with rice and beans, 2 pieces of plantain and the best coleslaw ever! The coleslaw was vinegar-based and slightly sweet. I much prefer this type of coleslaw to the creamy mayo-based ones. The cabbage was crunchy and really tasty. The rice and beans were excellent, soft and fluffy, not mushy at all. The plantains were soft and sweet. Island Grill usually has space for dine-in, but that section was closed off and they are only doing takeout at this time (Covid Pandemic still on-going). Service was quick and efficient. They sell hot sauces, plantain chips, and a few other items. They also had coconut cake and other desserts. Street parking only.

We came here by fluke walking down bank street and feeling hungry.. we saw the sign and as we came in , the scent of epic Caribbean spices just hits you right away. Service: Very friendly girl at the counter was super sweet and explained the menu perfectly and we ordered within 10-15 minutes our food was ready! It's a hole in the wall but don't be fooled the food is To die for. Food: FRESH PACKED WITH FLAVOUR!!! We got oxtails & Jerk Chicken. It was literally fall off the bone! The oxtail was my favourite part because it's such a rare dish prepared Jamaican style and it was super tender definitely worth every penny. The plantain was super delicious usually its hard to get it cooked right but this place definitely did! Veggie Fritters were amazing , rice was soft and delicious love how they drizzle the ox tail sauce on the rice and the beans were pretty good. The patties were alright but not the greatest..I would skipp the patties next time & go for everything else again instead ahaha Overall: Food /Quality Price , Service and ambiance was amazing super impressed and you definitely need to try this place out if you're in the area and craving an authentic homemade meal!!! Cheers

The Long Version: The King's Fusion is only open Mondays to Fridays from 7:30am-3pm and it's not near my house nor my usual places of work, so I can only go on a day off work because I work regular weekday hours so they are closed when I'm not working. So on our staycation, my husband and I did a food crawl of eateries we normally wouldn't be able to go to because of work. The King's Fusion was one of our stops. Coffee I can take or leave, but the hubster loves coffee and is more of a coffee connoisseur than I am. I chose The King's Fusion as one of our food crawl stops in an attempt to find some really good coffee for my husband. He got a medium dark roast ($3.25) and he enjoyed it. I don't think anything will ever beat the coffee we had at the now defunct La Dominicaine on rue Saint-Paul in Quebec City (my husband drinks his coffee black and because I'm unrefined I think that's gross and I only drink flavoured coffee with lots of sugar and milk like a high school Freshman, lol, but that coffee at La Dominicaine, was phenomenal, even I enjoyed it black). Anyway, it's been 8 years and we still dream about that coffee. My husband said if La Dominicaine was a 10, the King's Fusion is an 8. I feel that's really high praise. The King's Fusion was the first stop in our food crawl, so I didn't want to fill up. I said if they have chicken and waffles then I can't pass up on that, but if they didn't then I'd just get something small. They didn't have chicken and waffles, so I got the "Grandma's chicken noodle soup" ($4.50). The soup was ok, but too salty for my tastes. It had cubes of chicken, noodles, carrots and celery. I was disappointed that the meat tasted processed to me and not like the chicken made at home. They asked if I wanted crackers with my soup and they gave me a huge stack of soda crackers, like there must have been 8 crackers in the package. I love carbs, so I welcomed the crackers. Haha. I will need to come back to try different food items. I'm happy that my husband was happy with the coffee. 4 stars for the coffee. I felt the soup was like 2-3 stars, but service was 5 stars, staff were really friendly and welcoming. So overall, 4 stars. The store is in the Minto Place food court. Review #159 (2025)

I had been wanting to try Kingburger for years, but every time we were in the area, we were always just passing by and had to get to where we were going on a specific schedule. This past weekend we had some time and stopped on the way home. My husband and I each got a King Cheeseburger and split a large poutine. The King Burger has two beef patties, triple bun, Kingburger sauce, and fried onions. The cheeseburger just adds cheese. The patties were real, homemade beef patties. They weren't too thick or dense and were juicy. The cheese was real cheese slices and not Kraft singles. The fried onions were good, not too many and not overwhelming. The Kingburger sauce seemed mostly like a mix of ketchup and mustard and there was far too much for me - I would've liked to taste the beef more because it was really great! I was also hoping to give more burger to our little kiddo without the sauce or just minimal. The buns were nothing special, but were fresh, soft, and helped soak up the sauce. In fairness, I like light sauce, whereas my husband likes everything super saucy and he really enjoyed it. All in all, it's definitely a good burger and I might try the Super Burger next time, which also comes with back bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and subs fried onions for raw. The poutine, unfortunately, did not the have cheese curds I was craving, but the gravy was very tasty and the fries were so perfectly crispy. As a big cheese lover, dare I say that I might just order fries and gravy next time. The portion was pretty big, too. Super affordable, weekday specials, and fast and friendly service. Love a small, local, family-owned restaurant that's been around for ages. There's a patio to the side and parking, but no indoor seating and truly a drive-thru with a drive-in theatre restaurant vibe. I'll need to try one of their many milkshakes next time. They also have a "cruise night" with classic cars, which would be awesome to check out.
