This weekend we decided to check out Red's Supper Club. It recently re-opened under new management. The interior looked great and the staff was ready to greet us and get us seated. We did not have a reservation but didn't wait long. We started with crab cakes as my friend had never had them. Unfortunately these were not a good representation of crab cakes. The crab was minimal and the bottom was burnt. Unfortunately overpriced for the quality. For main dishes I had the risotto with a side salad and he had jumbo shrimp with baked potato. It is not clear on the menu but the entrée prices do include a salad and side. The shrimp were deliciously seasoned and HUGE. It was a good portion and flavor. Sadly, my mushroom and asparagus risotto missed the mark. I had five small pieces of asparagus and the risotto was very watery. I can't recommend this dish. The most frustrating part of the evening was when the high school staff gathered about 2 feet from our table to polish silverware. I am sure they wanted to get done to go home, but it would have been nice if they paid attention to their proximity to diners still enjoying their meal. Overall, the ambiance is cool, and I think the place has potential. Yet, they need to get a few more nights of service under their belt and a little more training in the kitchen and with their staff. read more

Walking in? Oh, she made a fabulous first impression. The décor was beautiful, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the staff greeted us with so much kindness I knew we were off to a good start. Well...almost. When I got to my seat, I noticed a few crumbs waiting to greet me too. Not exactly the welcome committee I had in mind, but we moved on. Our server let us know they were completely out of the bacon-wrapped shrimp. Was my heart a little broken? Absolutely. But when life takes away shrimp, you order chicken strips. That's just growth. Now, I will say the appetizers took a little longer than expected to come out, especially considering there were only two other occupied tables besides ours, an elderly couple and my family. Nothing outrageous, just a little surprising. My friend's son ordered the steak, and his review was, "Beautiful on the outside, a little shy on the seasoning." Juicy? Absolutely. Flavor? It could've turned the volume up a notch. As for me, I ordered the burger, and baby, that cheese was putting on a performance worthy of a standing ovation. It completely stole the show, in the best way possible. The burger was delicious, and the fries were nice and crispy, though I would've loved just a little extra seasoning to make them really sing. Now can we discuss the temperature? Whew! It was HOT in there. Every fan in the building was fighting for its life, and honestly, the real MVP of the evening was my daughter's little portable fan. Somebody give that thing Employee of the Month because it earned it. Despite a few hiccups, we had a genuinely enjoyable dinner. Great staff, beautiful atmosphere, solid food, and enough laughs around the table to make it a memorable night. I'd happily come back...though next time, I might bring my own fan just to be safe. read more

We enjoyed eating at Red's. I grew up in Belmont and went to school with the Stavers. I had dinner there with my sister and brother-in-law who had their wedding reception there, way back in 1978. Food was great. My brother-in-law loved his ribeye. I had crab cakes and wedge salad. Both were great. read more

We came on opening week at 5:30. Service was very slow and I understand that. Our drinks took 1/2 hour to arrive. The salads soon after and the blue cheese dressing was very creamy and good. Our steaks arrived and were good but my medium rare was medium well. The baked potato was without butter and sour cream for about 20 minutes. The music was big band and very loud even though we asked multiple times for it to be turned down. They tried to accomodate but why the big band music??? Why not diner melodys that are more conductive to conversation and digestion? The cabernet wine was VERY good. We had a nice time even though it was hard to communicate. I'm not sure we will plan on coming again soon unless the music is background and not loud. read more

I would recommend making a reservation, even though they weren't SUPER busy they were running on low staff so it took a while to be seated! Once they knew we were waiting they took our order at the bar and when we got to the table our appetizers and soups/salads were there! For food we ordered prime rib and New York strip steak. The prime rib was definitely the way to go. To die for. Steak was pretty good but could've used some more seasoning! The hashbrowns were incredible. Some of the best supper club hashbrowns ever. The soups and salads were awesome! Your meal comes with bread and a really nice relish tray. The cheese spread is SO GOOD! Once we got sat we had such great service too! Last Sunday evening, three of us drove to this Wisconsin supper club, (I LOVE supper clubs!) arriving about 7:45PM. They close at 9PM. None of us had ever been there, and walking in, there were 3 or 4 people at the bar, and a single bartender. I asked if we could still get dinner, and received a gruff, "Yeah", by the bartender, who then turned around without another word. We found our way through the bar to the dining room, and seated ourselves. The server came over promptly, and brought menus. He took our drinks order, and got those to us quickly. We had a couple of questions about the menu, which our server answered. I ordered a ribeye, another ordered a filet, and the other ordered a ribeye and shrimp combo, all to be done medium rare. The server then asked about dressing choice for salads. Shortly after, he brought out the "relish tray". SO disappointing!! a scant few baby carrots, short celery sticks, what may have been pickles, and two small cups (the size that a fast food place would use for ketchup) of some kind of dips. The salads were very stingy, as well. Iceberg lettuce, a small amount of shredded carrot, and *maybe* two bites of tomato. On to the steaks... AWFUL! (They did come out of the kitchen rather quickly) Although the chef got the cook on the steaks mostly correct (one was slightly too rare, and needed to be sent back for another couple of minutes on the grill), the steaks themselves - and I mean *ALL* three of them - were terrible. Very, very tough, and loads of fat. In other circumstances, I would have sent mine back, but the friends I was with urged me not to do so... At *least* 2/3 was completely inedible. The person with the filet got more edible meat - maybe 3/4, and the one with the shrimp (no problems with those) got about the same as mine - 1/3 could be eaten. I asked the server for a take-out box, and FILLED it with the fat and gristle from my ribeye, and asked the server (who kept apologizing) to take it to the kitchen and show it to the chef, and to let him know the other two steaks were equally awful. The server returned with the box, and asked if I wanted him to dispose of it. I asked for 2 more boxes for the other people's "leftover food", explaining the "leftovers" would be going to the friends' dog. I have managed several high end restaurants, as well as a couple of family style eateries, and I would never have looked at that take out box and done NOTHING. The chef didn't bother to come out, nor send an apology, or ask what he could do to make things right. While I know we should have either sent back ALL three meals, or just walked out, it was getting late, and I didn't know of another place nearby that might be open. The tab - before tip (because it was not the server's fault we got a horrible meal - was over $130 (and we weren't drinking to run up the bill) I've always had fond memories of the Wisconsin Supper Clubs I've been to, but this is an abomination. First time to Red's and first outing with my husband after being fully vaccinated. It was a perfect evening start to finish. Owners were friendly and greeted us at the door. Relish tray was plentiful. Cheese curds were crispy and hot and not greasy at all. Prime rib soup had tons of tender meat. Husband ordered The Big Red steak. Perfectly cooked to medium and well seasoned. I had the fried Walleye. A huge piece of fish in a light crispy batter that was flaky and delicious. Local gelato for dessert to finish the meal was just right. Our server was very friendly, attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. Our drinks were always full. This place used to be amazing! It is now a shell of what it used to be. So sad to see a place go so far downhill. They used to give cinnamon rolls and tons of great relish prior to even getting your meal, now you get a few carrots and celery. The last 2 times I have been there they don't have half of the food on the menu, tonight they ran out of salad...wth? The potatoes are half orders of what they once were, and the au gratin have nasty cheese on top that tastes like it was kept in a shoe. The prime rib was mid at best, and my lobster was raw. The prices have gone up but the quality has gone down drastically! So very sad to say, but I will not be returning!! read more

Restaurant was very short staffed on a Sunday evening. Only One waitress who was very new. We Waited quite a while just for some water and then to order dinner. The House salad was very plain, just some chopped up lettuce with bland little croutons. Blue cheese dressing had very little flavor. Relish tray was slow in coming and nothing really special about it. Ordered rib eye steak that was flavorful, cooked close to medium rare and decent size. My wife had bluegill that was good and somewhat unique. House salad was served after main course was served and then only after reminding the waitress. Had old fashioneds at the bar before dinner that seemed a bit light on the booze. All in all not a very good experience, especially considering the relatively pricy menu. read more

Perfect filet, love the relish tray, and the carrot cake is the BEST. Great dinner in the country, and the friendly owners are on site.

No staff should not be taking reservations that they cannot handle. Food was not cooked correctly. So disappointed!

Ordered Irish steak. Was very tough. The waitress offered to get something else but didn't want my husband to wait until my food came. When we went to pay the bill they still were going to charge me full price. I said well give me a steak to take home then. Ended up paying 10.00 for salad, relish, and baked potato. The guy stating no problems with anyone else's steak tonight. More of less sounded like I was lying. Poor customer service. Our waitress was very good though. read more

While attempting to expand our scope of dining establishments that we have visited, during this Lenten season, we recently googled 'fish fry' in the Tri States area. We read the reviews of numerous restaurants and, wanting to take a drive from Dubuque, chose Red's Supper Club, which their website listed as offering a fish fry on Friday nights. A listing of our dining experience is as follows: Cons: No fish fry available as stated. No childrens menu. No lemon wedge served with entree. Salad was served without any accompanying dressing, which we had to ask another server to bring to our table after being unable to attract the attention of our server for over 10 minutes. Poor service. Billed for appetizer that never came, no apology for the oversight, but I did have it removed from the bill. Generic wine selections. Worst french onion soup I have ever had, watery, with unmelted cheese at bottom of the cup of soup. 35+ minute wait for entree to be served. Pros: Very nice lightly breaded fried cod. Relish tray was nice, but didn't try the bread selection. read more

This is about Red's in the Country, not the golf course Reds. If I could less stars I would. They really deserve NO stars! Went here for my daughters 19th birthday. WORST experience ever. There were flies constantly landing on our plates and food! We were seated and 10 minutes later had to ASK for menus! The waitress was very very rude to us. Kept rolling her eyes because my daughter didn't yet know what she wanted to eat when she came to the table and because we asked what certain things were on the menu. 3 out of the 5 meals were cooked wrong or we were given the wrong cut of meat. I refused to pay for my meal as the second time around bringing my food out I tasted the meat and there was NO seasoning on it. Talk about ruining a good ribeye. The shrimp were very overcooked (the mgr said they tend to do that often). They expected me to pay $23 for eating 2 overcooked shrimp and half of my instant mashed potatoes off my plate! My Mother-in-law ordered the filet mignon and they brought her out an overcooked sirloin. My daughter ordered a ribeye with all the toppings (onions, mushrooms, green papers). It was overcooked as well so she sent it back. It came 15 minutes later without the toppings she ordered. When we asked for hot toppings the waitress rolled her eyes yet again. I asked her to take my food off the bill because I didn't eat it because it was not good even after they cooked it right the second time around. My husband had to go speak with the acting manager there about the bill because the waitress put my food on the bill anyway. While he was waiting for the manager the waitress came up to him and asked him what he thought he was doing. When he told her he wasn't paying for my food since I didn't eat it due to the fact that it was prepared wrong the first time and then no seasoning on it the second time, she said to him, "Well what do you expect us to do?!!" Even the manager had to tell her to go take care of her tables because she was up there arguing with her in front of all the customers at the bar about this. The manager there told us she was on her way out the door because they have had nothing but problems with her. Each time she came up to argue with my husband about the bill he would tell her that he was no longer dealing with her and would speak with the manager. By the time he was done speaking with the manager she had come up a minimum of 3 times to argue. Our food bill came to roughly $96 after they took off my food. We left the waitress $4 because that is all we felt she was worth. Normally when we receive good service we tip well. Thanks for ruining for ruining my daughters birthday party!!! I will never set foot on the premises again. The outside of the building was slightly run down as well. Could really use some good landscaping and to fix the asphalt parking lot. The interior was a time trip back to the 60's and 70's when supper were at the height of business. The ladies room was not nice. There were holes in the door from a previous sign so you could see right into the bathroom. The door knob in there was falling off. I was afraid I wouldn't get out. read more

Unfortunetly this was not a good meal or service this visit. My family have been there once before a yr or so ago and were excited about this visit. We waited forever for the waitress to take our order all though it was not that busy, waited another 45 min for our food. The meat was mediocre at best. We had a wonderful dinner at Red's Supper Club last evening. We were a party of 5 and was VERY pleased with the service and food. Employees were pleasant and engaging. Each of us ordered something different from the complete menu. Salads and relishes were chilled perfectly and the entrée dishes were hot and wonderful. We were so pleased that they had fresh baked cinnamon rolls in the bread baskets at our table. YUM...very good. A pleasant dining experience and we will certainly go back again. read more
