Cute place; clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Friendly and quick service. I had the Feta and spinach skillet with 2 eggs over easy and whole wheat toast and a side of bacon. Although they've been in Cuba City for 21 years, it took us 19 to discover this place! Offspring was in the mood for crepes this morning and I was not in the mood to make them, so we decided to give Nick's a try. We were a little concerned that there would be a wait since we got there around 11:15 on a Sunday morning, but a "15 minute" wait turned out to be closer to 5. This is the real deal in small town diners. Cuba City has one main drag and Nick's is embedded in a strip surrounded by antiques shops (so no complaints about a wait!). There's street parking, but you might have to circle the block or stroll a block or two from where you find a space. There's a small entry foyer with a single bench (more benches are outside, which was fine on a gorgeous spring morning), leading into a large, well-lit space with booths or tables. The menu has two pages of breakfast items (including crepes!) and a back page of lunch options, plus daily specials. Offspring had Benny's crepes - bananas, nutella and a ton of whipped cream, SO had the 2x2x2 (eggs, bacon, pancakes) and I had the Denver omelette with home fries. The food came fast and everything was delicious. Server was polite and fast and others came by several times to offer coffee refills. The only things keeping this from a 5 are that the coffee tasted a little burnt (still drinkable, just not great) and it's not a budget place - with tip it came to around $50. Nonetheless, we now have a solid, close option dor those Sunday mornings when we want something nice! read more

Best breakfast within 20 minutes of Scales Mound, Illinois. Coffee was hot and tasty. The hostess was friendly and prompt. The waitress was personable and swift. The food , quick and hot! I had the Biscuits and gravy Benedict one day and the eggs Florentine the next. I was impressed by both. The prices were fabulous. I wish I were eating the hash browns right now. Riding in southern Wisconsin and spotted this restaurant and decided to stop by for breakfast. It was busy which is usual for many places on a Sunday morning. Hostess said the wait would be about 15 minutes for our group of 5. We got seated right when she said. Waitress were quick and friendly. Coffee cups never went empty. Pancakes were very good as were the omelettes. Star of the meal were the hash browns that everyone agreed were crispy and great potato flavor. Biscuits and gravy were good, but not great. We would or sure go back again. Recommend. read more

Cute diner for a quick breakfast. Very helpful staff that serves a solid cup of coffee. A few breakfast items depart the menu at 11am (biscuits and gravy) but plenty still remain. The only complaint would be the lack of spinach in the spinach and feta skillet. If I'm driving through again I'll be stopping. read more

Yes, Cuba City Wisconsin Nicks Diner..... This is the way to go!! Driving through from Denver Co . Had the BEST breakfast & best service.... I was amazed........ I've been dining out in a population over 2 million people with thousands of breakfast joints, only to drive through Cuba City Wi population 2k ish to find the best breakfast i.e. cinnamon French toast or the Corn beef hash you'll find ANYWHERE.... NOT to mention Doo Littles tavern across the street for cheese curds & burgers I'd be 500lbs if I lived in this delightful little town... Props to you Cuba City!! read more

I'm telling you, the small town feel of this place, combined with a fairly extensive menu for such a small area, leave few to wonder as to why there isn't a single seat available! I would rather wait for a meal like this than a 5 star restaurant any day! The small town feel is made even more evident by the fact that the staff has greeted nearly every customer by name as they enter. Genuine smiles to every guest. Service with a smile. Bacon and eggs served on a street of presidents. This is small town America. Apparently everyone knew everyone. Breakfast and coffee for two was $16.50. Went for breakfast, no over 55 menu items or half orders and my mother is 98 and can not even finish a kids meal. Was told cannot order a kid meal for her. 3 breakfasts and Bill over $37. Hashbrowns were barely cooked very dissapointed. We not return. read more

I have eaten here several times over the years. Clean, good food with friendly service. I'm not a local but whenever I'm in the area I stop here. It's really a nice place. The lady who left a one star review was not very fair. If her mother couldn't eat a whole meal, why didn't she pick a menu item she could share with her mother? I wish this place was closer to my home 100 miles away. It's maybe not worth a two hour drive to eat here, but it's very memorable for good food, good service, clean and reasonable pricing. read more

We live in Galena, Illinois and come to town to visit Weber's Meat market. If we have time we go to Nicky's. We usually get the turkey with gravy. My roommate wanted fried chicken so we thought we would try Nicky's. This was the best fried chicken I have ever had. Very flavorful and did not have to season it at all. Great price for the dinner. Nice people who work at this diner. Cute little town. If I didn't live in Galena, I wouldn't mind living here. read more

Came here again a year later and OMG the food is still fantastic! Service is awesome too! My wife had a bit of an odd request to taste the sauce they use for the spaghetti and Chicken Parm BEFORE she ordered it - they brought her a little taste and still homemade and yummy! The spaghetti and meatballs stole the show! I had the meatloaf special - tasty and done well! The owner was very generous with his time and chatted with us about the heritage of the recipes! Went to Giles for cheese and stopped off at Nicks for lunch - hubby had a hankering for breakfast while I was looking for lunch. Nicks not only satisfied both but went over our expectation. The dinning area was clean modern but not over the top tecno. The wait staff very efficient and nice. Hubby had the chopped steak eggs and hashbrowns with cheese. The chopped steak was large tender and flavorful, the eggs cooked just right as the hashbrowns. I had the big grilled cheese with bacon and and an order of fries. Both made to perfection not over or under done. The only disappointment for me was the onion soup. Not enough beefy onion flavor and missed the hot Swiss cheese. Over all very nice. read more

Stopped in for some lunch today and I ended up eating breakfast! After looking the extensive menu over the "Nicks Special" omelet really seemed to jump out at me. It came with hash brown potatoes that were cooked perfectly. Nice and crispy on the outside. The omelet itself was chocked full of everything but the kitchen sink and was very good to my taste buds. The service was fast and efficient. This turned out to be a great stop for us and we would recommend it to anyone. read more

Nick's is that little casual diner every small town should have. A friendly and affordable gathering place for any meal of the day. The menu is extensive and includes many breakfast offerings you can order all day. They even have crepes. And one of my breakfast favorites, eggs Benedict. If you're in the mood for comfort food, there are the hot meat (turkey, beef, pork) sandwiches with mashed potatoes and gravy. I like that you can order a simple sandwich. without sides. I was in the mood for a sandwich and coffee for lunch. I had the Reuben. It was good-not gigantic, but just right for a light lunch. And around $7.00 for sandwich and coffee. Everything's priced right here. The service was very gracious and hospitable. They treat you like an old friend. Also, the location smack in the middle of downtown Cuba City, a very attractive little town is convenient for antique shopping and visiting the cheese store here. read more
