We now have been here a few times. This time, it was lunch and just 2 of us. I ordered the lunch pesto, minus the chicken and added blackened salmon. It was absolutely amazing! The salmon size was awesome for an additional $3.00! My wife had a gluten free chicken dish with pasta and she loved it as well! Also, no up charge for the GF pasta!! We concluded that it is better to go there for lunch for deals and it was quieter. Meaning, at night they offer music, which is great except it is too loud in the small space. We were with another couple last time and asked to be away from the music so we could have a conversation. BUT, that being said, the food (which took a little while as they had large parties there), was fabulous! I can't say enough good about the blackened salmon! My husband and I went here for dinner on Friday night. It wasn't too busy and we were sat at an outside table near the bar. We ordered drinks and they came out fairly quickly. We ordered our food and I informed the hostess that I was Gluten Free and she wrote that in her notes, I ordered the GF Chicken Parm with Veggies and risotto as the sides. My husband informed her that he IS NOT gluten free and he ordered the Chicken Marsala and wanted Marsala sauce on his pasta, not spaghetti sauce. Our food came out and was wrong for my husband's dish, the pasta had spaghetti sauce on it so it went back to be redone. Mine looked ok, at first, but after a few bites, I noticed there was a piece of penne pasta under my risotto. I informed the server and he said, "oh don't worry, it's gf pasta". I was still too nervous to eat any more! My husband's food came out and looked terrible! The chicken looked like it was boiled!! The entire dish was highly unappetizing and looked gross! Plus, they had given him gf pasta!!! The entire meal was ruined and we asked for the manager. He did come over and apologized for the issues we had and offered us a free meal on another visit, but I'm honestly not interested in going back again. To start things off, we ordered the calamari & it was delicious - I would definitely order it again. I ordered the Chicken Picatta w/penne pasta. The chicken was odd looking, it was curled & the breading was somewhat soggy. The penna pasta w/red sauce was very good. I finished my meal w/a cup of coffee that was also very good. We went here on a Friday night with 2 other couples. We had a reservation and we were sat immediately. They put us in the back room, where there are round tables for groups. It was much quieter back there and we could hear each other talk. I got the special of the night (as did 2 others), which was Mahi Mahi with risotto and broccolini. The mahi mahi was so dry (everyone's was) and the risotto was over cooked - you could have scooped it with an ice cream scoop. The broccolini was good. My husband had the chicken parm, which was flavorful and tasted good. His potatoes were dry, but the veggies were good. Just felt like it was hit or miss that night. My friend's husband had the pistachio crusted halibut and said that was cooked properly. Our server went on an extended hard sell on how good their steaks are and the quality of them. None of us really eat steak out often, so we passed but it felt like overkill. Once our meals were complete, we asked for 3 separate checks. Unfortunately, they were split incorrectly, but then he did fix that. I have the RGM app and thought I had points to spend, but apparently, what looks like points is some code for the server - or that's what I was told. I asked him to explain that to me, so he called me into the kitchen area where they do the bills and showed me on the screen that I have no rewards. The new app is just highly confusing on whether you have a reward or not. One of the other couples signed up online and got their initial $10 off, so I highly recommend doing that for the $10 off. Plus I think you get things on your birthday. A certain number of points is supposed to equal $10 off, but he couldn't explain to me how I would know if I had a reward or not. Was just kind of a frustrating evening. And our 2 meals, plus 1 drink was $70 not including tip. Not sure how quickly I'll be back. I'd try them for lunch again in the future though. read more

While visiting with my parents, we found a restaurant at the Sumter Landing town square that everyone could find a meal, including a meatless meal for Good Friday for some. RedSauce happened to be the agreed upon entertainment. When we were first seated, we were greeted by several of the staff. They were very friendly and warm. We were waited on pretty quickly as well. Our waiter(s) (I think someone was training) were absolutely phenomenal. They were constantly checking on us, refilling water, and making sure the experience was fantastic. On a Friday night nonetheless. We each ordered our dishes. I had a house cab to go with my meal which was tasty for a house wine. The food didn't take terribly long to prepare and come out to us. Everything was done really well. From the salmon, to the chicken Alfredo, and shrimp scampi, everything was done to everyone's individual taste. Our group all loved their food and agreed it was done the way each wanted it. On. Friday night, it was busy with a little bit wait. But, the atmosphere around the square kept our minds off the wait. Once inside, there was some live music and plenty of people dancing and enjoying away from the tables. It was overall a great experience. We had a nice dinner here. Started off with an espresso martini, pistachio, martini, and Arancini and Caesar salad for appetizers. The drinks were good, but the pistachio martini had issues. It wasn't even closely filled to the top. The shaker arrived and the waiter poured it, and you can look at the picture. It was an unacceptable martini. Meanwhile, the espresso martini was filled to the top and the plenty left in the shaker. Hmmm very disappointing. The bartender should know the correct amount for a martini pour. The food was really good. Loved the Arancini and the Caesar salad. For entrées, we had chicken Parm, pasta, Primavera, shrimp, scampi, and spaghetti with meatballs. All really delicious. Was visiting a friend in The Villages and stayed at the Waterfront Inn walking distance to the Town Center. I walked from the hotel to check out the restaurants there and make a decision where to eat. I decided to try Red Sauce. The outdoor bar was full so I found a seat at the inside bar and service was immediate. Busy spot, lot of food coming out of the kitchen and one dish caught my eye both in the menu and as it was being served nearby. It was the Eggplant Parm. The photo in the menu and the actual were quite similar so I ordered for dinner. The veggies were fresh and very good. Absolutely recommend this place from the drinks all the way to the desserts. Pistachio Crusted Halibut was fantastic. The rice and veggies were okay but the fish itself was phenomenal. Not pictured - the Limoncello Spritz tastes exactly like a Lemonhead candy. It was truly astounding how exact the flavor and aftertaste were. I loved it. Chocolate mousse cake was very cocoa forward. Delicious and not overly sweet. A deeper, almost dark chocolate flavor. The orange cake tasted like a creamsicle. I will remember this cake for a very long time! If you are thinking about it, just try it! The cakes were refrigerated, which I appreciated. It made them dense and more flavorful. They were large slices, plenty to share. We were excited to go here as we have heard many good things. Being gluten free and dairy free it can be difficult to eat around the villages unless it is salad. The food was very good. But the communication on service was just ok. Our server was very kind and We had told her we had never been there before. And then when I was asking questions about the menu because of the gluten-free part, she was great answering the questions. But when we ordered, it was like she completely forgot about the gluten free stuff which has fine, it happens, though it wasn't busy. It was 4 o'clock so there wasn't a lot of people there. So I ordered the chicken parmesan and ask for gluten-free. And then I asked about my sides, she gave me all the sides and I kinda gave her a look like which ones are those are gluten-free? Because I know they have a gluten, free pasta. And she said well, I would go with double veggies. And I'm like, but don't you have a gluten free pasta? And she said, oh yeah, and I'm like I'll just take that then. OK, that's fine then because I'm dairy free. I asked about the mozzarella on the chicken if I could substitute goat cheese and she said yes, perfect, and it came and it was phenomenal so good, but when I got the bill, it was a $4 Up charge for the goat cheese. It was not on the menu anywhere. It was not communicated no details about it. So that's where I lack because it would have been nice to have that communication so I was aware before I got my bill. Plus when the chicken came the grill marks were burnt marks so, the chicken had a really bad burnt taste to it and she first stopped by and asked about how everything was and I said, "honestly, I haven't had a chance. I thought I tasted burtness. But we've been talking". And she was well I'll come back and then she never came back. She never filled my water. She never did anything. She had tables right next to us and acted like we weren't even there until our food was gone and I had a brg her for more water. My husband had the pizza and he loved it. And I loved my meal other than the burnt chicken taste. Which I could flip the chicken over to hide that. Next time I'll say watch how you cook it. Because it was super thin there was no need to burn it the way they did. It just I can't give them higher stars because of this lack of communication. Loved this place. One of our favorite meals on our trip. And, outdoor dining on the square is always awesome. We took advantage of the two entree special that they offered for $40. One appetizer, two entrees, and two desserts. That was an easy decision. We started with Garlic knots. They were served hot-from-the-oven, and the garlic to butter ratio was perfect. The knots were huge, and so good that you can get full just eating those. For our entrees, my wife ordered the Shrimp Scampi. It was delicious. I ordered the lasagna and it was good, but not fabulous. The portions were huge , and we had enough leftover for lunch the next day. For our desserts we had a cheese cake and cannoli. Our server was excellent gave us as much time as we needed since we were talking to friends we hadn't seen in a while. I tried something new and the food was excellent. okay two data points is not enough to write a bad review, but it's kinda odd that both times I've been here, the service was just plain weird. the front of the house is awesome, very accommodating and since this is The Villages, it takes a lot of patience to deal with some of the oldsters. But the last two times we were here, our waiter was not good. This time he started asking about dessert before we finished, rushed us through ordering as soon as we sat down, and started clearing dishes while some of us were still eating. It made the meal very stressful. The food is good, too expensive for the value IMO, but they get away with it because of the location. I'm willing to get it one more try and will update the review if necessary, but if we have the same problems with the wait staff again, we won't return. read more

The music was so loud we literally had to shout at each other to be heard. It was almost impossible to hear the service staff so they had to shout so we could hear them. So! My wife and I returned to RedSauce last night to a packed house. We were told we,'d have at least a 25 minute wait and we elected to sit at the bar while we waited. We were immediately met by a very gruff and perhaps very tired older man who bellowed something to the effect of what will you have? My wife at 75 struggled to hear him above the very busy hustle and bustle and before she could reply he barked at us again and I ordered for us both. Our drinks were served and he never looked at us again and made me wait a long time for a refill or order. Eventually a young lady named Courtney took over and the service was like night and day, and all while waiting on a dozen others without missing a beat! She was so pleasant we decided to eat at the bar and enjoy a cocktail while listening to music. We have been here several times and always enjoy ourselves. We will be back! I like the vibe and the menu at Red Sauce, even though it can be a bit loud. We've eaten there a few times, usually as part of a larger group of 20 or so, it's typically at least okay. But last nite it was terrible! The food was okay. the meatball appetizer was edible but not memorable. The IPA was good enough that I wanted a second, I actually paid for a second but never got it. Yes, I should have complained but honestly after we waited so long for food then for the checks I just wanted to get out of there. The service for the entire group was just bad. Long time for drink orders, long time for dinner orders, then an hour after dinner orders, we're told that one of the ordered dishes isn't available. Then failed drink service during dinner then it took forever to get checks and half were wrong.... Even after getting a lecture to avoid moving seats during dinner (which we don't do anyway). It was mostly couples sitting across from each other and no one moved. There was no excuse for the poor service or many, many errors. If you are thinking of eating here, My 2 cents ....avoid it if you're looking for a nice meal with good service. If you want to take a chance with 2 or 4 people, then it might be worth a try. But as part of a group in the main dining area, I just don't think they staff those the way need to. If you are restaurant management or staff, please work to fix the issues rather than justify substandard service. read more

They had 4 hostesses standing around when the place was barely 1/2 full- so when they kept running out of plates and people were just standing there waiting, finally or perhaps eventually one of the hostesses brought out a stack of plates, plus they kept running out of plates! Some of the food was cold, raw bacon and the funniest of it all the poor guy making omelettes, pasta, waffles keep asking for more batter while we stood online waiting forever for pancake batter- lol Finally asked the manager I'm assuming because he was standing there talking with people (never noticing how people were just standing there Waiting for food, the manager never came back to let him know the batter was on the way So he eventually left the station to retrieve it himself. I have dined at Red Sauce 4 or 5 times over the last 4 years or so. Indoors, front patio, side patio, lunch, dinner. I've never had a bad meal, and never a complaint about service, not even during the covid government shutdowns and labor scarcity issues. Highly recommend. read more
