There are smaller paper menus on the counter, but you'll feel pressured to order immediately with a line behind you. My party of three each ordered a drink and their mango bingsu to share. They use fresh mangos, but $18 feels expensive, especially because their sizing is smaller than nearby competitors. As for the drinks, their menu is creative, but I stuck with a trusty Thai tea with sea salt cream. You can definitely taste the strong tea flavor, which may be too bitter, but I prefer this over too sweet. If you add a topping ($0.75), each drink comes out to about $7. read more

When I say I downed the peach bellini tea in under 15 minutes I'm not kidding! It was one of the freshest fruit teas I've ever had. It's described as a peach black tea with lychee and mango, and includes slice of lime which provided some tartness. So so refreshing! The honey boba texture was also perfectly chewy and not too soft. Their tea is very fragrant and brewed fresh, which is the big standout to me. The default sweetness for their drinks is 75%, which is usually perfect; I've tried a couple drinks at 50% sweetness and they can be on the bitter side. They can get a bit crowded on weekend evenings, but other than that it's a pretty chill place to for a quick catch up with friends, and I've also seen people study there. I absolutely love this place! There is seating available inside but when it's crowded the chairs can make it a little hard to get around. My go to drink has been the redstraw milk tea at 50% sweetness level. It's very well balanced and you can taste the tea where it's not overpowering or bitter. Now the star of the show is the tayaki, this fish shaped pastry that seems to be made with croissant dough and can be filled with custard, nutella, or redbean. It does take around 10 minutes, but when it comes out it's piping hot both inside and out. Once it cools down (YOU HAVE TO WAIT EVEN IF IT SMELLS LIKE HEAVEN) the buttery pastry and delightful filling are absolute heaven. I'm obsessed with the custard filling. The drinks at Red Straw were fine--nothing mind-blowing, but they get the job done. That said, the overall experience was kind of a mixed bag. First off, the menu font is tiny, and it's posted way too far from the register. You basically have to squint across the room or awkwardly step out of line to see what you're ordering. Not a great setup. The feng shui felt off, like the space wasn't quite sure what it wanted to be. And not gonna lie--you can smell the bathroom from the boba pickup counter, which takes some of the joy out of waiting for your drink. Also, the fact that they have servers in what's usually a fast-casual setup just adds to the confusion. Are we dining in or grabbing and going? The place can't seem to decide. Dalgona Black Sugar Milk Tea - The dalgona milk tea was a bit on the more bland side. It's topped with some dalgona cubes/pieces which give most of the flavor of the drink. Overtime as the dalgona pieces soak, the drink tastes better but lowkey kind of tastes like something burnt. Not too bad though. Definitely a more fitting drink for those that like milk tea that isn't on the sweet side. Peach Bellini - This drink is a peach black tea with some lychee and mango flavor.
