First of all, the scencery is absolutely stunning. It's pretty easy to drive through the park and pop out at scenic spots for a view of the ocean (such as Wedding Rock, so named as a beautiful spot for a wedding). There's also wonderful hiking, including the Rim Trail and the path down to Agate Beach. Also... beachcombing camping learning about the history of the area at the Visitor Center biking nature photography and much more! There is an entrance fee; however, if you avail yourself of the California State Park Library Pass, it's free! Either way, definitely worth a vist.

It is nothing like the beaches in SoCal which is everything that I wanted to experience. I enjoyed how cool the weather was and the smells of the clean, crisp air. It was just under $10 to visit for the day and we spent about an hour solely taking in the views. Overall, highly recommend if you are in this neck of the woods.

I personally love how secluded this beach is that stretches out for miles. This beach is great for walking along the shoreline and/or enjoying a picnic at. In order to get here you will have to drive on a somewhat twisty road for about 6 miles. It is right next to Fern Canyon so I love visiting both at the same time due to the close proximity to one another. There are unique hikes in Fern Canyon due to the fern-covered walls you can walk through. This is such a beautiful area. I have not used the campground and only visited the beach so I can't speak to the campground aspect of this area. It is very peaceful and serene and a place where you can often spot elk.

Gold Bluffs Beach extends for 10 miles along the Humboldt County coast in Prairie Creek Redwoods…read moreState Park. It requires a day use permit to enter because of the volume of visitors that come here. Mostly because popular Fern Canyon is next to it. Gold Bluffs has a campground with 26 sites. Permits are not required if you have camping reservations. To reach Gold Bluffs Beach, you have to drive on a 6 mile windy dirt road called Davison Rd that you can access near the Elk Meadow picnic area. Trailers are not allowed on Davison Road. Visitors will need to pay the day-use fee, or show their federal pass or CA state park passes at the Gold Bluffs Beach entrance station. You can also hike the 11-mile James Irvine loop trail from Prairie Creek Visitor Center. No permit is required if you are hiking. Gold Bluffs Beach was named after a gold discovery in the 1850's that attracted some interest by miners. If you are going to come here, make sure you check out nearby Fern Canyon. It is a must-see! The 1,200 mile California Coastal Trail runs through Gold Bluffs. After hiking Fern Canyon, I walked over to the coast of Gold Bluff to walk in the water and soak in the sun.

Our canoe guides Colby and Julian were super! We selected the two hour morning tour so we could explore the Redwood forest in the afternoon just 5 minutes South on the 101 and make it 30 minutes North to Crescent City by sunset. During the tour we learned a lot, laughed a lot and saw many amazing animals and plants from the Redwood canoe. The boat itself was easy to walk into from the shore without getting wet and sit comfortably-- Fellow tour goers with us were ages 30-75. We all were provided life jackets and a safety talk before embarking. Thank you Colby and Julian for sharing and showing us your beloved home!

My family and I came out here…read morefor a job contract, first time living in a trailer, had no idea what to expect from our new adventure and home. This park has been such an incredible time for us! We have a spot near the little playground, which has kids playing at it pretty much everyday (my toddler's favorite spot to meet new friends). All the families we've met here have been super friendly, with many coming back year after year. The manager has been so sweet too, making sure things are working out for us and we're enjoying our stay here; she even took us on a nearby hike to look at all the beautiful redwoods! When we got here, the back meadow was overgrown, the river view was fairly blocked by bushes, and the laundry room only had one washer. But in our 2 months we've been here, the staff have been working at tidying things up and have made pretty good progress with it. At this point, they're back to a full 2 washer/2 dryer laundry room, you can see the river pretty well, and the back meadow has been mowed down and become our favorite spot to bring our kiddo with her bike! The only downside is the bathrooms, but that's just because I never went camping as a kid and as soon as I saw a spider in there I convinced myself it was going to come crawl all over me. In reality, it's just an older bathroom in a campground. Plenty of showers and toilet stalls, and most importantly infinite hot water (I'm still adjusting to the 7 minutes of hot water in the trailer). Other than that, they have a little convenience store which is perfect when you don't want to make a trip into town for groceries. We have our own internet, but the few times it's gone out we've been able to use the park's as a backup without issue. No cell service, but that seems to be the case all throughout the redwood forest.

Not worth the extra $$$ for it. This could be made so much better by adding some trees as a break around the dog park and to give this site some shade. There was nowhere to seek shade at this site whatsoever so if you wanted to just chill in the afternoon you had to bake in the sun. Also map leads you to believe you can see the river and you cannot from this site. The common deck overlooking the river with a fire pit in the middle is really nice. Also could use some shade to be used during mid-day hours. Saw some seals frolicking in the water while sitting there and that was really cool! Also tons of birds registered on my bird ID app (including osprey and night heron) so they are happy in the area. Bathrooms are dirty and aged. As mentioned by other reviewers the stall doors are very short and offer little privacy. Signs request drying off in the stall to prevent standing water but it's hard to prevent the water getting out. It's not far off the main 101 at all so you do hear road noise until it slows later in the evening. It's a reasonable distance from Crescent City and right in the middle of national park visitor centers. Short drive to beach areas. While I was there people were friendly but not intrusive, things were fine. Things could be improved but it wasn't a bad spot for the location/price.

September 23-25, 2024 - This is the third time we have stayed at this small RV Park. The park is…read morenestled in a wooded setting, surrounded by trees and greenery, providing a relaxing atmosphere. We were able to get one of the sites with a deck that overlooks the pond. Our site had two wooden Adirondack chairs, a small drink table, a picnic table, and a fire pit. There is a trellis fence between each site which provides privacy. The park is located next to Sue-Meg State Park. We walked to the park one morning and hiked the Rim Trail. The short distance to the park made taking our car unnecessary, always a nice bonus. The park is clean and well maintained, and staff are friendly and welcoming. The only negative of this location is that you are right next to US 101, so you do hear a little traffic noise. But you are also next to the ocean, so you also hear the Sea Lions. So take one star off for the traffic noise, but add an additional star for the Sea Lions.

It really is a fantastic and beautiful park with wild elk roaming all over and a public beach across the highway!

The grounds are super clean and when you arrive it just feels relaxing....quiet and peaceful and it seems like the people that camp here all want the same thing...a nice, peaceful vacation away from everything. And we love it! We have 2 kids 11, 17 and it is something they look forward to and talk about so much. My 11 year old asked to come here for his birthday and we are currently celebrating with this view! Short distance from all the classic trails and the beach. This place is beautiful, from the lush trails with abundant ferns to the redwoods and alders…read moreringing the campgrounds to the glorious panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. We planned to hike in 4.5 miles with our kids and make it a real backpacking trip but we ended up parking at the 0.25 mile lot and hiking uphill to the camp site. There are eight camp sites that generally could fit one or two tents easily. Fire rings and picnic benches are at each site but there is no running water. We had to hike in water which is heavy. The camp sites require a free backcountry permit in advance. There are no charges to camp or park. Camp site #1 is pretty and large but has a pit compost toilet (enclosed, not too smelly). We loved camp site #2. It's large, closest to the bluff (you can hear the waves at night!) and quite flat. The rest of the sites are more tucked away and a little more private. The farthest site is less than a half mile from the parking lot. The one down side -- besides no water source -- is that there is a lot of stinging nettle in some of the sites and along the trails. And some pesky scrub jays. But they weren't too insistent as long as we kept our food in the bear locker. The bear lockers at each site are large (4' x3' x3'). There was a sign posted at the trailhead that said a black bear had been seen recently here. As far as we could tell, there aren't any site specific reservations. It appears to be first-come, first-served. We went on a Thur & Fri and only saw a few other people. It's a really quiet campground and the sites are separated by a lot of space and generally not visible from other sites.
