    Lake County Gas

    Lake County Gas

Tank rentals have doubled and any service you request they will charge you a hefty fee. I suggest you look else way for your propane service. Lake County gas is not worth the headache!

This place is disgusting. "Customer service is our top priority" my [rear end]…read more I just got off the phone with "John" the "district manager" for the company. I have exactly zero respect for any (I'd say "man," but it quickly became clear that I wasn't dealing with a "man.") So I'll say "company" that conducts "business" in the manner that I have experienced this company doing. We just bought a house in Hidden Valley Lake this month. Now admittedly, there was some mix up between my husband and I regarding which of us was supposed to get a hold of the gas company. That is our fault. But it's only been a couple of weeks. (With all of the other things going on with work, purchasing a home, leasing our other home, the holidays, etc, it's been pretty hectic, but still...) Now last night, I get home from work, and my daughter hands me a paper saying that Amerigas has shut off the gas. Mind you, there was no knock at the door, NO ringing of the perfectly working doorbell. THREE people happened to be here at the time this would have happened. Money is not our issue. Organization of paperwork, maybe. But not money. I called Amerigas this morning, assuming some misunderstanding, or maybe the guy simply did not "feel" like ringing the bell. We've all had hard days. Expecting a reasonable response based on how often they print and claim on their automated messages that "Customer service is their top priority," I was SEVERELY let down. What a joke. The receptionists are not friendly. "We MAY be able to come out in a week and a half to two weeks once you fill out an application and put the order in." To reconnect the gas that is in the tank is what I was told. Ok fine, I get that this is your policy on certain things, but surely, in DECEMBER, your company has SOME sort of alternative, since your guy didn't even have the decency to RING THE DOORBELL when he came by to shut off the gas at a home we JUST purchased. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, thinking foolishly that perhaps the receptionists simply weren't "allowed" to deviate from the policy, and to inquire why the gas guy hadn't rung the doorbell, I was connected with "John." John is an awful person. I absolutely cannot believe he "has run a company" (like this!!!) for HOW long?! After speaking with others, I am NOT the only person disgusted with him and this company. John continued to say the exact same thing and when I told him the guy didn't ring the doorbell or anything, he basically called me a liar, saying "that guy has been working for me for 25 years (or however long those two have worked together) and he called and said there were two cars in the driveway (the Mercedes didn't indicate we have no problem paying you for gas and maybe it was a simple oversight?) but no one answered the door." So he basically called me and the other THREE respectable, grown individuals who WERE IN FACT HOME at the time (yes, some of us work from home!) liars, and when I attempted to tell him that clearly "his guy" was mistaken somehow, he interrupted me repeatedly. But mind you, it is NOT "okay" to interrupt JOHN, when he decides to go back into the SAME defensive, RIDICULOUS business policies that they have. When I tried to speak, because he and his awful receptionists already went over their policies and I didn't much care to hear it YET AGAIN, he quite rudely told me to not interrupt him. Several times. Un. Be. Lievable. I have a plethora of "little man syndrome" suspicions and judgments in this particular area that have obviously sprung from my disgust and frustration in dealing with such a foul company, but hey... So then I called "ER Energy". Wow! What a difference!! The receptionists were both incredibly friendly, (turns out one of them used to work for the other company but left because of the same stuff I described above! And no wonder! I can't even IMAGINE how "John" treats decent employees, after experiencing how he treats "customers!") ER Energy came right out, replaced the tank, and was delightful to deal with. Im going to go give a positive review for ER Energy now. Go there. No, I'm not being compensated in any way by writing this. I'm just THIS disgusted with "Amerigas."

    Brown's RV

I went by Brown's RV to look at a 2021 Bushwacker 17 Plus travel travel trailer (offered at just under $11k), I talk to the sale's person briefly to let him know that I was there to take a look at the trailer I called him about, he was friendly but short, probably because he was short handed. He pointed the trailer out and told me to help myself and to let him know if I have any questions. I found out later when looking at the trailer that a self tour is what they usually do at Brown's, probably because it is a small RV/U-Haul business. First, I took a look at the outside, the trailer was obviously sitting on the lot for a while because spiders webs had formed around the bottom part of the trailer, that didn't bother me too much. I notice that some of the trim was detaching from the trailer but that can be fixed. I went inside the trailer and was amazed with how rough around the edges it was for a 2021 model. # 1, this was a bunk bed model, the top bunk had been removed but I didn't mind that much because, in my opinion, they just get in the way when you have a small family like mine. I found some wall trim missing in 1 or 2 places. The seams in the corners of the shower/toilet area are separating from each other in places and I noticed that the toilet was not very clean (I found, what looked like fresh pee marks, around the rim), a matter of fact, the whole trailer needed a good cleaning on all the surfaces, I was surprised that it wasn't taken care of before I got there since the other models they had on the lot were clean (they've had this trailer for at least 2 months, so long enough to clean and maintain). I noticed that the light fixture buttons would all stick either in the on or off position (push button type), I had to tap on the lights to get the button(s) unstuck. I took a closer look at the kitchen, food particles were all over the counters and the walls surrounding the stove and sink as if someone has recently used it. I finally took a looked at the control panel to check to make sure it worked, I pushed the fresh water level button and it was showing about 1/2 full, that concerned me, why would there be fresh water in the tank of a travel trailer you are about to sell, I guess to show that the pump works? I pushed the grey tank which indicated that it was full, I checked the black tank, and that was full. That was the deal breaker for me, I am not about to clean out someone else's filth not even if they offered me a $5k discount for it. It seems, from the condition of the inside, that this trailer was most likely lived in full time (and possibly still is), not occasionally used for camping like any other travel trailer. From this experience, buyers beware, check everything no matter how long it takes before you put down your hard earned money.

Our propane tank gauge read 30% full, so I was waiting to order a refill until Spring, but then on Thanksgiving Day (luckily just after we finished preparing our multi-course family feast) our propane RAN OUT -- no stove top cooking, no fireplace (our sole heating source), no hot water. I called Kemgas Friday morning, left a message with their emergency service, but since their office was closed for the holiday, I figured we were out of luck (and heat) for a few days. Imagine my surprise when, less than an hour after my message with their emergency service, I received a call from Kemgas informing me that they had a driver in my area that day who then arrived within 90 minutes to refill our tank and then took the time to help re-light our various propane fixtures. (He also diagnosed the problem with the gauge -- banged in a few times and then it correctly read zero.) It's this kind of customer service that will make me a Kemgas customer for life. Many thanks!
