I was referred to Jamal Cole at Randy Reed by a friend who had gotten her car from them and had a good experience. I am 25 and have never owned my own car before, so I honestly wasn't sure of the whole process and was probably at risk for being upsold, pressured, etc., but Jamal and everyone else I dealt with made me feel very comfortable and valued as a customer from the moment I stepped on the lot. He listened to what I wanted, stayed within my budget for a monthly payment, and was patient when I wanted to weigh my options and look at different cars. Ultimately, I went with the one he first recommended, a 2013 Chevy Spark with only 13k miles on it. I honestly wouldn't have initially picked it out for myself, but after test-driving it, I have to say, I loved it! It's a great little car with a bunch of awesome features, and I ended up getting it for less than what a new car with fewer features would have cost me. Jamal and the RR team made the paperwork easy to figure out, too, and explained everything to me, which I'm grateful for since I am new to the process of buying a car. I felt that they were honest with me about which "extras" were unnecessary and which were the ones most people opted for, and I found out that the salespeople don't work on commission, so they are honestly just trying to sell you a car that will be the best fit for you. That was my experience to a T - they made the process super easy and I have no complaints. Happy to finally be a car owner! Oh, I almost forgot - free oil changes for life and 3 free months of OnStar and Sirius XM radio made me a happy girl! Their service department does not seem to have the customer's best interests in mind. I was experiencing shuddering in a 2020 Silverado, so I took it to them for a diagnosis. They claimed they could not "reproduce" an issue that was both significant and constant. I was billed for the diagnostic without being informed of the cost beforehand. They did not recommend a transmission flush or mention the Chevrolet service bulletin addressing known torque converter issues for this year and model. The next time I brought the truck in, the transmission was completely shot. They now refuse to offer any assistance because I did not perform my routine service with them--despite this being a documented issue related to the type of fluid Chevrolet used in these vehicles. Perhaps Chevrolet's new slogan should be, "Buy a Chevy. You might get 85,000 miles out of it." read more

I took my truck to them for repairs. a Chevy 3/4 ton. it still ran ok, but a code on it said it needed a regen. I told them what the code said and they started changing parts. a tube needed changed 500$. not it. the blower needed changed 2800$. not it they had to order another part. Said it was fixed. Charged me 5200$. I asked who was the tech that worked on my truck. They said a guy named Rodney. He was their very best. When I got in my truck, it still was not fixed. They called out the tech that worked on it and it was not Rodney. I tried to get my money back and they said no way. The. Service dept. Manager did apologize twice, but still no return on my money. my service was terrible at Chevrolet in Missouri. I had my 06 Chevy pick up in there for service differential transfer case transmission never had an issue with my brakes after they got it in there roughly hour and a half two hours later they told me my brake line was leaking. I live in Plattsburgh Missouri never had an issue. They brought it out and I had to break to get home. Service department was very rude. Said they didn't do anything to it. Show him the neck on the brake line or something that hit it and it was shiny talk to the manager at that time they're very rude. I didn't want to take responsibility for it at the end. I promise you should've drove my pick up till I hit something then they would've been responsible, but very negative feedback I wouldn't recommend them for nothing. read more

Beware, and do not take your vehicle to this place for any reason at all!!! You know there are dummy lights on a vehicle for a reason. But before that when I learned to change alternators, solenoids and starters or batteries, it was called the process of elimination to fix vehicles back in the day. If this worked and that worked but that didn't work, then it was what didn't. That and a Chilton manual. And of course tools. So when I brought it in and it c it couldn't have been any of these reasons, or the anti-theft module because you knew when you did auto start, which you mentioned when you came back in after taking my key, and going out and testing it, and it started that it wasn't anything else but the anti-theft for the key fob. That was a whole 2 minutes. You really had to put the diagnosis computer to it? Really? After it started, and you come in and show me that it wasn't anything but the key? Seriously? Now, you said you were going to use the old cut key that was on the fob, and just replace it, which means you also didn't even need to cut the key. And that you had to "re-program the key, in which I was thinking, well that is not hard, since that wasn't the original fob for the car, when I bought it new. I had a button on the original key that wore out, and so I ordered a new key, went to a locksmith and had it recut on the new one. I then programmed the new key fob. So, I know how long that takes. And no, I am not a mechanic, but I know my car, and a few things, even though I am am just an old woman from Omaha, who had her 85 year old father with her. But obviously, you were like, okay Wow, we got two suckers who just walked in! So, when you said $200 and you would give me a "loaner," and btw folks, a loaner is $50 dollars a day, and the next day was Saturday, I assumed, okay, we will eat $ 250. this wasn't a tough fix, since Friday, even though on Friday at 4 pm there were at least 5 people just standing around at the service desk and the fact the time it took to get a hold of American Family, forget my ID and my driver's license, and credit card there, and had to turn around from Faucett which is 17 minutes away from St Joe, and drive back before 6 pm, one wonders why it would be so hard since they had a parts department to just be respectful and do the simple thing and fix it before I left that day. Boy did I get comments when I told people where we had left the car by people who obviously know your reputation and live around you. "They aren't going to fix your car tomorrow. They are going to price gouge you." Another told me," Oh they are a rip off." Sure enough Saturday came and went and a simple key fix was not done. Imagine me when I called them Monday, and they told me it was over $450 to fix the key, and of course that didn't include the $150 for the "loaner you gave me, and told me to make sure the tank was full, when it wasn't even 3/4 full, nor washed, when we first got in? Seriously? So, when I argued and listened to the snarky, nasty phone call phone call, with me arguing with you, telling that if I knew so much why I brought the car to you, and my response was simply, you are Chevy dealership, I assume you had the key, isn't a common sense answer? And let's get real here, you also knew it "was just the key," In less than 5 minutes after the car was towed in. I have no doubt you are going to hear a snarky response from you regarding this review. I will love hearing how you justify your deceit. A simple thing that you will try to justify. Good luck. Get ready for excuses, lies and analytical nonsense. Adding $250 more was what? Storage fee to hold the car until Monday? I assure you, the car doesn't leak oil. It may be a 2013 Chevy, but I take good care of the car, even though the back seat has been torn up trying to get Dad's wheel chair in there that I have pushed him with many times because I take care of him. Well where do i start? For one, they overcharge, of course. Two, they can not even train the workers on how to properly change oil in a car. Absolutely ridiculous, the simplest of things a mechanic does, they mess up. And force me to pay $100 for their trail and error. I know mechanics are known to take advantage of women, but this is a whole different level, not even being able to change the oil correctly. Take your car to Jr tba and services instead, they saved me over $1000 that would have been spent at reed chevy for something they didn't even know was wrong. I purchased a 2022 Chevy Suburban RST on October 28, 2022 from Reed Chevrolet in Saint Joseph, Missouri. I believe that the dealership fraudulently concealed the fact that the previous owner/s of this particular vehicle had smoked in it through the duration of ownership. Upon the "purchase day" of this vehicle (all of which prior negotiations had been conducted online & via phone) I went to Reed Chevrolet to drop off my trade-in and finalize the purchase for the new Suburban RST. While at the dealership finalizing documents, the sales representative, Yeison Piantini (Jason), took me into the detail shop where the vehicle was still getting "detailed". The vehicle doors were open and the environment and atmosphere were as one would imagine. I got the vehicle home around 2p and it was not until later that evening, approximately 6p, when my family and I went for a drive that we noticed a "smokey smell" inside the vehicle. The following morning (10/29/22), this "smokey smell" was more pungent and I had to back the vehicle outside and roll down the windows in hopes of "airing out". At 3:57p on 10/29/22, I notified Yeison (Jason) of the concern I had regarding the vehicle and its now exposed conditions. The dealership never requested to investigate nor offer to mitigate this issue. In hindsight, it is my belief that the dealership was aware of this condition and fraudulently concealed it through the environment of the detail shop upon my inspection along with a temporary "neutralizing" application. The dangers of third hand smoke & nicotine residual are of concern. I have made multiple attempts to work with the dealership to have this issue professionally mitigated. Each attempt I have made to get ahold of the dealership beginning at 3:57p on 10/29/22 (the following day after purchase) - 9:50a on 11/2/22 to find a resolution, I was met with silence. I ultimately took it upon myself and found a local business that specializes in vehicle smoke/nicotine mitigation. The mitigation expense I accrued was just over $2,000 and included: a full interior cleaning (which was a 3-day process) and a vehicle rental for that duration. Reed Chevrolet instead of taking it upon themselves to offer customer service and mitigate the issue, Randy Crowell (Reed Chevrolet General Manager) had offered $200 towards a cleaning/treatment, which was far less then what was actually required for mitigation. It has been months now of contacting the dealership to seek reimbursement and there has been no success. Reed Chevrolet does not have the right to infringe upon the safety and well-being of my family or myself. It would seem that a reasonable and honest dealership which values their customers would have investigated and resolved this issue. Personal experience with Steve: Took my car in on 2/3 was told oh we need a part after 4 hours with the car. The part will be in on 2/11, okay cool does my warranty cover this? I dunno i dunno, finally calls in warranty after staying on his ass all day. Cars covered by warranty but we wont try for a rental because usually they say no. Refuses to call and see about rental, does the bare minimum and gives me the number and tells me i can try. 20 minutes later in enterprise, 45 min later ive got a rental paid for. 2/11 rolls around 4:20 in the afternoon hadnt heard about car. I call and speak to Phil, ah my bad we didnt get the part. Okay how are we rectifying the situation? Uh we dunno well see if we can have your car ready by Monday. At this point, again all I've gotten is the bare minimum from these guys so i asked to speak to Joe, now Joe tried to bullshit too of, oh well see if we cant get it on monday, i already sent my tech home blah blah blah. After staying on his ass and asking when the actual manager will be in (apparently 8-2 M-F) we got a call saying the car will be worked on and finished on 2/12, a day late. I get it, the entitlement, the selfishness of this guy. But if i didnt call on 2/11, my car would have just sat there all weekend and nothing woulda been done. This last part is a bit of an attack, but being 40 and working in the service department in St. Joseph does not make you anything special; especially when you can't even do 1/3 of your job, like making sure the car actually gets worked on. Avoid the Chevy dealership as much as possible. The Jeep isnt as bad, but the Chevy has been ass for 3+ years. read more

I purchased a vehicle from Reed in May, this was the third vehicle that I had purchased from them. After coming to an agreement with the finance manager on terms and payments, I learned a couple of months later that he added three months of additional payments to the terms. When I confronted him, he denied his actions. However, I pointed out to him that we had spoken specifically about terms. And when I inquired about the extended terms, he advised that the loan company would not go for the longer term. He didn't provide me a copy of the loan agreement at the time of purchase as he explained I would receive it in the mail. A few days later I received a call from the dealership advising me that my paperwork was ready for pick up. When I received the paperwork it also did not contain the loan term agreement. I only found out that he added the three months after I looked up my account on the internet. I am not the only person who the dealership has done this to, as I know of another person that they did the exact same thing to. Needless to say, I will not be purchasing any additional vehicles from this dealership. In my opinion this is stealing by deceit. read more

Definitely worst repair service I've had. Took my car in for a recall for my rear toe links so it was no charge completely free. My steering wheel drove straight and was aligned fine. Until I went in and they aligned the back while replacing my rear toe links but normally when you align the back you align the front because it messes the front up. So when I was driving home after picking my car up, I had to drive with the steering wheel crooked. I called and asked about this and the guy said that the alignment for the back was all that was included so if I wanted a full alignment they would be happy to charge me 99$. So they're just money scammers and I'll never take my car there again. Really irritating and they preach about having the best service. read more

I went to go look at a truck on their lot. It needed some repairs but I could wait for them to be done. No big deal. I had them look at my 2016 2500hd (23,000 miles) for a trade in. Dealer (Jeff) showed me a sheet with 3-4 different car values based on condition. My truck is clean with no accidents and it showed a value of $44,000. They offered me 39k. What a slap in the face. They wonder why their reviews are garbage. Do not suggest going here. They want top dollar for their vehicles but want to buy yours under poor value. read more

beware everyone needs to know this but especially women. if you take a car here to be worked on beware. i had a chevrolet classic that was still had warrenty on it. i bought it in omaha. breaks completely faild almost causing a severe accident. took it to reed chevrolet to have it looked at and maybe fixed. they called me and said calipers are working just fine but you need new brakes and routers on the front. and that was going to cost $800. i grew up with a dad that was a machanic and been around cars all my life. never in my life heard of a $800 for brake and reuter replacement. that weekend i bought the pads so my dad could replace them and look at routers to see if they can be turned or not. dad worked on driver side first. walked inside handed me the old pads. pad on outside looked brand new the pad on backside of router had no pad left. i looked at him and said the calipers aren't working right. and that's when a light bulb went on in my head. i looked at dad and said that's why it was $800. pads and routers weren't covered under warrenty but calipers were. because i am a woman they thought i would fall for it. they were charging for calipers to and replace while they were did the other parts. read more

I was in a nasty car wreck while I was visiting the area. Reed was recommended by my insurance company. It was towed there the next day. The tow company and Reed took care of everything. Then Troy from Reed took on the task of getting my pretty messed up car fixed. Even though we had part issues and many other obstacles- he got the job done and worked constantly with my insurance company. I normally do not take the time to do bad reviews I focus more on the positive however I am making the exception due to such poor service. I took my suv in to get a quote on collision work for TWO dents i relayed this to the service tech who took my keys. I recieved the quote for $1300+ so I scheduled an appointment to get that done along with some recall work. I got a call stating the collision work was done but did I want him to quote the small dent in the back I said no that was included in my initial quote he said no it wasn't he apologized for the lack of communication from the service dept. It is what it is I wasnt happy but whatever so I went to pick up my car because I was told it's ready to go. I get there on Saturday to pick it up to be told they had not started the recall work and that's why he was having issues checking me out to print out my paperwork. So I got put back into the rental car and I received a text message today saying return the rental ASAP your car has been ready for pick up since Saturday. WHAT! I was there on Saturday it was not ready so I call and Michael told me yes it was ready and he had a guy stay all night to work on it. I said I just received a call Wednesday to pick up my car so how was it ready Saturday? They literally do not know their right hand from their left. RIDICUOUS!!! I am in the market for a new vehicle however I WILL NOT use this dealership. I am not impressed at all. The lack of communications and inefficiences are unexcusable. read more

BUYER BEWARE! I'm active duty military and was living overseas when I saw this truck online. I needed a vehicle as soon as I moved back to the United States and would be leaving this area (which is home for me) to move to Texas just a few days after I bought the truck (which the dealer knew), so I didn't see the vehicle until I actually paid for it, but I had some family go and check it out for me until I got there, and was relying on the dealer to make certain repairs that were noted. My salesman, Adam McDonald, assured me (vaguely and in very general terms) everything was good to go with the truck. I specifically sought out a dealer to purchase a used vehicle from (rather then an individual) because I thought the dealer would not sell me a lemon. Now the truck: I purchased a used 2014 Silverado 1500. I've owned the truck for just under 1 month and have had to spend $2700 on two separate repairs on this truck ALREADY...A/C unit and tires (I was led to believe from Adam prior to purchasing the truck that the tires were new). Getting ready to buy another key fob from another chevy dealer for about $300. Technically they never lied about the vehicle, but if I didn't ask a specific question or if I made any assumptions about something that I thought any decent dealer should have taken care of, I was wrong. Issue #1: tires. When me family test drove the vehicle, they noticed a pretty significant vibration at higher speeds. Adam said no problem, we will rebalance the tires. Sadly I took Adam's word for it that the vibration issue was resolved. Drove the truck myself (after I bought it of course) and the vibration issue was still there. Unfortunately I was on a tight timeline so I didn't have time to press the issue with Reed Chevy that day. I took the truck to another Chevy dealer a few days later in Texas where I live, and they told me the tires are no good, road force balance is 2X outside the acceptable limit, which any dealer who balanced the tires would have known as soon as they balanced them. New OEM replacement tires ($1000), vibration issue was fixed. Called Adam (who sold me the truck)...I'm paraphrasing here, but he basically said "well we didn't put the tires on the truck, sorry." Issue #2: A/C went out after two weeks. Adam claims the dealer does "a (insert number here) point inspection on the truck" prior to it being put on the lot. I can't say anything about the inspection, but about two weeks after I bought the truck, the A/C (I'm in Texas now, remember) stopped putting out cold air. Took it to the Chevy dealer down here, they tell me the A/C drier is cracked and has to be replaced, and unfortunately the drier and condenser are a single unit. Out of warranty. Repair cost: $1200. Did the Reed Chevy know about this issue? I can't say, but it's awfully suspicious that this crack just developed a few weeks after they sold it to me. Issue #3. I wrongly made the assumption that the truck came with 2 keyless entry key fobs. When I was handed the keys after I bought the truck, I received 1 key fob and 2 keys. Of course at the time I didn't think much about it, but it turns out if the truck is locked and you just use a key to unlock the door (rather than the push button key fob), the alarm on the truck goes off until you put the key in the ignition, so if my wife drives the truck and doesn't have the set of keys with the key fob, she sets off the alarm every time she gets in the truck. Additional key fob/programming cost: $300. So, my experience with this dealer this time (I bought a truck from them about 8 years ago as well) tells me that they will do the bare minimum to make the vehicle sell, but will spend no money doing service the "should" do if they were a decent dealer. Bottom line, stay away if you are buying something used! read more

Buying the vehicle was an awesome experience. All of the employees I encountered during the process were wonderful. How ever when I took my truck in for an issue regarding the screen dimming randomly and the dim switch never working, Brad daum in the maintenance department treated me like I was a young dumb kid. They wasted a quarter of a tank of gas in my truck and didn't replace it to tell me nothing was wrong. Went into the dealership on the 1st of September gave them the stock number of the truck I wanted and some of my information, I told them about my current car and what I owed on it. The service manager looked the car over. I was there for maybe 30 min. Had errands to run told them to call when they got everything figured out. Called me that night with a good deal. Next morning they called back with a better deal and set up a test drive. When I got there the truck was ready. Full tank of gas and all. After the test drive I was there for maybe 45min. Best car buying experience I've had. Will go back. read more

We took our truck in for the oil change and to have the starter replaced. While doing this they also found that the fly wheel had some damage so we needed to make an appointment to have that replaced. They were wonderful in working with our hectic schedule. Max the truck is feeling much better and pulling our trailers like a pro. We have purchased 2 vehicles from Randy Reed in St. Joe and when it is time for the next one we will be back.
