This place is a hidden gem. We stayed in their floating cabin. Absolutely one of our best getaways. The cabin had two bedrooms and a loft. Easily sleeps 8 comfortably. There is a restaurant in the marina. Food was delicious. All the staff we encountered were very nice and hospitable. Rented boats, kayaks and water toys. Very easy to do. This place is very pet friendly. We brought our black lab with us. If you can snag one of these 5 cabins you will not be disappointed. We can't wait to come back. The staff was friendly and the service getting on and off the boat was excellent. The rental process was smooth, and everyone we interacted with was helpful. Unfortunately, our day on the water was disappointing because the boat was not equipped with an anchor that would hold in the lake conditions. One of the main reasons we rented the boat was to stop, swim, cool off, and let our kids play in the water. While we watched numerous other boaters anchored and enjoying the lake, we were unable to do the same because our boat continually drifted. Had the anchor worked properly, our experience would have been much better. The customer service was great, but not being able to safely anchor significantly impacted our day and kept us from fully enjoying the rental. I've done boating on Lake Pleasant before but not thru Scorpion Bay. Twice the summer I've now pushed off from their boat rental docks and not the other. The business is run like a well-oiled (boat) machine- you need to make a reservation (as far ahead as possible), have one sober sally to steer the boat, everyone signs a waiver, the boat is given a once over.... then you're pretty clear to go enjoy the water! The water levels are dependent on the time of year and will affect your boat's ability and general proximity to anchor to the lakebed. While you can select either a Half-Day or Full-Day option for your boat, it's much more economical//cost-worthy to rent the Full-Day. Other rental options include floating cabins, jet skis, kayaks, and play time at the floating park (Paris Park). Specifically for anything that runs on gasoline, you// your party are responsible for filling up the tank upon your return. In all of my times on the lake, it's usually no more than $5-10 per person. After a long day of floating, the ski elevators are a welcomed way to lazily get all your belongings up to the parking lot. read more

Scorpion Bay is part of Lake Pleasant. At Lake Pleasant, there is more than one marina. Scorpion Bay is where visitors may rent boats and various forms of paddle craft. Those with their own boats may also rent spaces. If you have seen pictures of the large inflateable obstacle course on the lake, Scorpion Bay is where it's located. The obstacle course is open during the spring and summer months. Hungry? Scorpion Bay Grill is located right on the marina. Enjoy views of the water while you enjoy your meal or a drink. Snacks and bottled beverages (including alcohol) are also available for purchase in giftshop. Along with snacks and beverages, the giftshop sells limited swimwear, clothing, towels, and even things for boats. Parking is free. Marina is accessible via a long staircase. I'd give zero stars if I could. Today is the second time we have tried to fill our boat up with gas and they have told us we have to wait till all of there boats come in first. So we sit for 30 mins to an hour waiting just to fill up half a quarter of gas. Then when we asked where the signs were or location on their website that tells you that so you know and they couldn't say. Then they proceeded to just yell and argue at us as we waited and waited. If this is something that is going to be happening we will no longer come to scorpion bay for gas as well as nobody else should. They are rude, inconsiderate, and honestly just unprofessional. How wouldn't want the money? Even when none of there boats were even pulling in they wouldn't let us cause they had to "wait for their boats" like I'm confused if nobody is there then what does it matter???? I'm real confused. I would suggest looking at going to lake pleasant for gas from now on. read more

What a fun day at the lake on a very hot day. E had family in town and wanted to get out and have some fun. While you pay to get in once you arrive at the lake you will be expected to pay again to get into the Scorpion Bay Area. They do have a huge floating obstacle course as well as a restaurant. Parking lot is good size. If you are wanting to open swim you can also park on the street and walk down near the end of the street. While pretty clean in the area there are still many people unfortunately they don't understand or seem to care about carry in carry out what you bring. No one likes a nasty lake and ruining the environment. Please clean up after yourselves. read more

We are the family of 6 (4 kids under 5- including a newborn) who rent a speed boat instead of one of those big comfortable boats. We're that family. That being said. This is exactly the type of place to accommodate such a ridiculous request. You make reservations online for the boat you want, the equipment you want. All prices listed. When you show up with your reservation all you do is give your name And your boat is already ready to go. Pro tip: it's a pretty decent walk from the parking lot. So if you have kids and intend to be out in the lake for long periods of times you probably have a ton of stuff with you. They have a convenient elevator that takes you down to the dock and from there it's a bit of a walk if you have your hands full. So I recommend one of those rolling beach baskets to help make things easier. The staff were super helpful. Had life vests for literally every size. My nb is 3 months. My baby is 2 years. My kids are 5 and 4. My wife is 5'1 slim. I'm 6'2 350lbs (big fella) and even for me they had a really comfortable size that didn't make me feel like Chris Farley in Tommy Boy. They did and excellent job of explaining how everything works in terms of driving the boat (first timer) and made recommendations on where to keep our gear so it stays dry, how to use the Bluetooth built in stereo. Really thorough and really easy to digest. They also give you a map of the lake and they mark off areas where certain activities aren't allowed, for your convenience. The boat itself was INCREDIBLE. It felt strong at full throttle. It was impeccably clean. It has a built in am/fm radio with Bluetooth to hook up your phone. Even at full throttle the speakers were amazing. They also have a usb (for charging I'm assuming) and an aux if you're old school. We rented the wakeboard and big donut thing. Which admittedly only my wife and daughter used. But everything worked well we didn't have any problems. Returning to dock you have to bring it to a stop near a gas pump which more often than not is crowded with other boats/jet skies fueling up. It can be intimidating. But again. The incredible staff come through. Without notice as I approached 3 dudes came out and from a distance started coaching me in. Slow it down a little. Turn left. Turn right. Neutral. All the way to the right. Reverse. Neutral. Off. This was two days ago and to this day it is still easy to remember because the delivery was so easy. Again. First time boat driver. Once you're done you pay to top off the boat. You leave all their belongs in the boat and you're all done. That's it. Quick and painless. Cant thank this business enough for such a great experience in what was our first big trip away from home as a family. Thanks guys! Oh. And my wife says the staff is filled with cute boys. Went to Scorpion Bay to reserve our sunset cruise , they said I had to do it on line. I purchased the sundet cruise for me and my husband . The next evening we went an hour early before the sunset cruise and ket them kniw we were here and will be in the restaurant watching the boats sail around Pleasant Lake. As we were sipping our cocktails i said to my husband i think thats our sunset cruise boat and he rep no we have a 1/2 hour plus they know we are here. We pay Scorpion Bay to store our boat trailer behind two locked gates. Recently, when we went to request retrieval of our trailer from Scorpion Bay for necessary repairs to our boat that we keep in a slip at this marina, they were unable to find it. They stated this had happened before and they had lost a trailer for over two years. Cris McSparen, the general manager at Scorpion Bay Marina refuses to accept any responsibility for their negligence and failure to properly secure our trailer. Because our boat was in an emergency situation, they loaned us a different trailer and had their staff put our boat on a trailer that was too large and not of suitable size. When they were putting our boat on the trailer, their staff damaged our boat's two props. Again, they have failed to take responsibility for their negligence and incompetence. Needless to say, I would avoid storing anything at Scorpion Bay. My husband I and aren't complainers, but we feel that boatowners considering doing business with this marina need to understand the level of despicable business practices that exist here. read more

The lake is beautiful! There's patrols driving which makes me feel a sense of safety. Now for the bad: the areas around the lake are dirty. Visitors do not clean up after themselves, so bring water shoes. You don't want to get cut up like I did. Further, there's an older lady at the store that ruined our perfectly good day with attitude. She needs to find a new job that's not in customer service. The other guy and girl checking us out were great. Like others have mentioned the younger kids at the boat rentals have horrible customer service. You should make us feel happy that we are inquiring about the rentals. If they wouldn't have given us an attitude, we would've rented a boat for a little bit before we had to leave. I rented a 20 foot pontoon boat, expecting the boat to be in decent condition. When we reached the marina and they showed us our boat, several of the seats were ripped. I asked for a boat that did not have ripped seats, but they did not have any. Every one of the 20 foot pontoon boats had ripped seats. I was told it was because it was the end of the season, but the rate was the same as the beginning of the season. I understand there is normal wear and tear, but I would have appreciated knowing that the boat I rented would have torn seats. We spoke to the manager and asked for a reduced price, but she said that was not possible. She did offer us a bigger pontoon boat, but it was only my husband and I so we did not need a bigger boat. Also, the bigger boat had a bigger motor, which would have greatly increased the cost of gas. Again, I totally understand normal wear and tear, I just wish it would have been advertised that I should expect normal wear and tear, such as ripped seats. read more

I would totally recommend renting a boat here! With that being said, I have a suggestion for either the staff and/or others looking to rent. Supply an anchor! We went to what was suggested as the party area, Humbug Bay, but once we got there we noticed there was no anchor so we just turned off the boat in hopes of being okay with that. Unfortunately, we continued to drift. We would either go towards a huge rock, or towards another boat that was anchored down. It was kind of frustrating having to turn on the boat and move in a further direction, yet continue to drift back into either of those two things. All in all, it was a great time. Nothing beats a day on a boat. We did get the speed boat, and filled it max capacity as well. Probably our best bet over the pontoon. My family and I rented a 24 foot pontoon boat and tube from them this past Monday the 26th of July. The service was great. After a quick instruction on the boat and geography and rules of the lake, AJ fueled us up and made sure we had enough PFD. The boat had adequate shade cover and Bluetooth for our tunes. Boat had enough power to pull the tube and still make it fun. The lake was not crowded, being a Monday and that made it even better. I would rent from this marina again. We brought out of town guests from Iowa. It was a Tuesday and you were not that busy. We waited for a very long time even though we could plainly see 5 available tables. Some folks even left because of the wait. Finally we got inside and waited another very long period of time for anyone to come to our table. One ordered a bloody Mary and one your rum splash drink. Both said not much flavor. After spending a hour and a half waiting we decided to get apps. Vs a meal We ordered artichoke dip and your pretzel at fourteen dollars. Bucks It was not at all apparent that the hostess had no idea you lost customers Due to tables sitting empty while we toiled outside in the almost 90 degrees while we saw 5 empty tables. And certainly no manager on duty. I had an ice tea and the gal who either was on something or had a Tramatic BRAIN INJURY took my cup and never ever returned with it. We just left. I am so disappointed in their service. My friends and I booked a pontoon and when we arrived we were told we had no reservation. My friend even had a hold on her card. We called them TWICE to confirm prior to our reservation day, and they confirmed both times. They did NOT accommodate us at all, and basically told us to get lost. Went to the boat rental dock Easter weekend- had friends from out of town. We wanted a rent a boat - had numerous options to choose from. We asked one of the young men (best described as a frat boy on the water) on the dock about boat options and he looked at us like we were from mars. We got some sarcastic remark about they type of boat (all being the same). He then calls out to frat boy number 2 who gave the same sarcastic reply. My party and I just looked at one another in disbelief as the rudeness we were experienced and walked away. As a rule, when someone doesn't know how to treat customers (especially when you are about to drop a few hundred for an hour on the lake) they do not get my money. We rented the 45' charter boat for a surprise birthday party. Everyone was amazing to work with. The woman I booked with on the phone was so helpful. The men who helped us check in and get us to our boat were great. Our captain was Zach and he was unbelievable all day. We were out for 8 hours and it was such a great day. I would highly recommend. Wanted to surprise my daughter, daughter in law and the grandkids, ages14 and10, with a day of fun on the lake so I rented a 21 ft sport boat and toys to go with it. I live in Prescott, and yes, it is hotter in the Phoenix area but who cares, when you need to play in the water it's only about 1 hour away and worth it. The boat seats 10 people but 5 was perfect for us. Open bough with a bimini top and don't expect it to be in perfect shape but it was perfect for us! There is plenty of room for coolers and all your stuff. We got 2 toys at a time in the package deal we took and if you want, you can go back to the dock and exchange them for 2 more. This wasn't a problem for me cause I needed the practice driving up to the dock. It's been a while since I drove a boat and it was pretty obvious but not bad for a grandma! I didn't even need to get out of the boat if I didn't want to. The staff was right there tying up my boat and exchanging the toys. What service! You have to walk down a good amount of stairs or take the small tram down to the dock. Don't let that scare you, it's not bad at all, just pack your stuff accordingly. I knew the prices of the boats before I made my reservations and just bit the bullet cause I wanted the convenience of dropping it off and leaving. Yes, it's a little pricey but it was so worth it! I only know Scorpion Bay as a visitor, not a member. It certainly looks nicer and newer than Pleasant Harbor, that's for sure. But that's where it ends for me. We stopped by to check it out, re-stock the beer, and grab something to eat. We succeeded on two counts. Their store is very, very small. They did have beer, and some food, but mostly chips and the like. I was hoping for a sandwich or hot dog -- something a little more substantial. If you didn't want chips, the other option is Dillon's. Nice! I've had Dillon's BBQ before at their main location, and found it pretty good. But I didn't want to sit down and have a big meal. I wanted to get back on the water. I was hoping they would have a walk-up bar or something where I could grab a pulled pork sandwich and some fries to go. Alas, table service only. So we checked out Scorpion Bay, got some beer, and a couple granola bars -- two out of three. read more

Sunday, Sept 15, 2013. Wife's birthday so went to Scorpion Bay location for late lunch. Arrived at about 3pm and were seated outside. The table behind us, populated by about six customers, was loud, annoying, unruly, and profane. Two of the male customers were standing and contributed greatly to this raucous verbal display, as was one woman who was very obviously inebriated - annoying everyone within hearing distance. I asked our wait-person if she would please ask the customers at that table to hold it down for the reasons stated...she replied that she would be happy to do so. After a moment or two, one of those two standing males commented to the others that they needed to settle down; "we might be cut off by the restaurant," or words to that effect clearly overheard. The obnoxiously drunk female and her companion(s) then left the restaurant. We were able to enjoy our meal for the next 20~25 minutes or so. As I was paying our check, the woman and her companion were permitted to re-enter the restaurant and returned to the same table. Unsteady on her feet, she fell over one of the seated individuals at their table and began an ugly, horribly profane tirade using gutter filth "F" bombs, while describing sexual acts in the grossest terms possible, oblivious to the harm she was causing to other customers caught up in having to listen to that with no recourse. I stood up and confronted her - having to raise my voice to 'command' levels - it took two attempts before she was able to comprehend through her drunken state that someone was trying to communicate with her. I ordered her to cease her profanity; there were families, children, and babes in arms present there. I then demanded to see the restaurant manager. At this point, two male employees came outside, asking what was going on. One came to me and stated, "We'll handle this." "No, you won't," I replied. "Our wait-person 'handled' it properly when she asked them the first time and they left. Who exactly permitted them to come back in and start right were they left off? Is this your idea of handling it?" I believe the woman's companion was back at the bar ordering more alcohol. My wife became so upset she also confronted that woman and demanded that she be quiet and stop her tirade. I informed Dillon's employees I was going to contact their management and inform them of the type of environment being permitted in their establishment. That inebriated female is in violation of just about every "Sexual Harassment" policy that I'm aware of in the United States. I believe also that the Dillon's bar employees are guilty of over-serving a customer who was observably drunk...an action that is illegal in Arizona with severe penalties. This incident was humiliating, embarrassing, and distressful to both my wife and I. Had I not already paid for our meal, I would have refused to do so under those circumstances. I was exactly one step away from calling the Police to have her arrested and initiating a complaint against the Dillon's establishment for the 'over-service' issue I believe happened. Dillon's management needs to educate its employees about existing sexual harassment policies/laws, the penalties for over-serving an observably inebriated customer, and how to handle such incidents appropriately in order that other customers do not have to be accosted by such unacceptable public behavior stretched far beyond any acceptable line of civility and proper decorum. Failure to act correctly and in a timely manner, coupled with permitting re-entry of that drunk individual caused a great deal of harm today and ruined my wife's birthday. I note, after reading quite a number of customer reviews, that this is not the first such incident of its kind in one of Dillon's establishments...there being a similar incident involving an inebriated customer swearing grossly to a family with a 4 year old child becoming a target for his angst. Be aware I sent this concern to the district manager email address given to me by a Dillon's employee...who refused to give me that district manager's phone number. He has failed to acknowledge my email or respond in any manner. read more
