I was traveling to the area from out of town and needed a haircut, so I decided to try Refine Classic Barbershop's Premium Haircut with a Beard Trim. Unfortunately despite the "premium" label, this turned out to be the worst professional haircut I've ever received. My request was for a simple undercut using a #1 guard and to leave around 4-5" on top. You can see the results for yourself. Fortunately my wife is a dog groomer and was able to fix it somewhat in our hotel room using an electric beard trimmer. I also left covered in hair. Usually a barber would at least brush any loose hair off a customer before finishing. I will say that the barber was very nice and friendly but wow, the results were just embarrassing. read more

Once again the staff here kills it! Amber was my go to for haircuts, but she recently went to another barber shop. This time around I had Jake cut my hair and the dude is just super talented. He listens to what you're looking for and not only nails it, but gets it done fast! He got the fade perfect, cleaned up the top, and finished with a straight razor shave on my neck all within about 35-minutes. Honestly, the whole staff here is does a great job cutting hair and making you feel welcome. They do offer walk-ins, but I highly suggest making an appointment as this place is always packed. read more

It's my first time here on a walk in basis. I called ahead where I informed the barber I'd be seeing about not being happy with previous barbers. I show him a picture for reference. The first thing I mention is not wanting to go high on a taper. Things seem to be going fine, small talking about where we're from. Then he shows me where we're at and it's high. I reiterate I didn't want it high and the barber suggests he saw it on the picture. My left side is not blended in correctly and I look at it as he finishes and heads to the register. He noticed and says, "I can blend that in for you". I don't understand why that wasn't already done. He "only" charged me $30 for a buzz when I don't think I should've been charged at all. Merlin Moussa cut my hair today. I was a walk-in, and it was my first time there. Ms. Moussa looked at her watch, then checked her appointment book and said, can you do it right now? I said sure. She did a excellent job, even trimming my eyebrows and my old man hair in my ears. Then she shaved the back of my neck. I highly recommend Ms. Nermin Moussa who works at the Mt Juliet location. My wife was so impressed. She even agreed to go to a movie with me because I have now have a cool haircut. Normonally she does not like movies. Called in at 9:10 am if there is an opening for, I needed a haircut. the answer was " Just come in we will get you". Drove about 15 mins and when I got there, the receptionist said " the next available is at 12 noon. So, I just walk out. Not sure if he thinks that it is acceptable to wait 2 1/2 hrs. to wait and get a spot but not for me and in addition, he could have told me over the phone that the next available opening is at noon. Hate giving a low rating. I love this place and I can't say enough good things about Jake. He's terrific. I've been coming here ever since he started working here. HOWEVER. Today I had an experience that will keep me from going there for a good long while. I came in and had a seat. They require customers to wear a mask and all were doing so. While the employees were "wearing" masks, the two female barbers had theirs on their chins. One of them (she was blonde but don't know her name) asked me who I was there to see and I told her Jake but wanted to know why she didn't have her mask on. She took the mask off and said it was so I could see her teeth. She then started mocking me. I told Jake to cancel my appointment; that I couldn't give my business to a place that didn't value their customers. He said he understood. Belittling their customers is not the way to stay in business. Sad because I really like Jake. read more

This was my first experience with Refine Classic Barbershop. We just moved to Mount Juliet a few weeks back for work. I was excited when I looked online and found a classic barbershop that offered straight razor shaving that wasn't far from my home. I made an appointment online and was a little confused by their services. I went ahead and booked a "Premium haircut" ($30) and a "Beard Trim" ($10). My mistake was booking a "beard trim" instead of a shave. All I was looking to get done was a clean outline of my beard along with a trim. I was told by Jennifer that she doesn't do straight razor shaving on the face. She said, the other 3 barbers do. I got a normal haircut and beard trim and was done in about 15-20mins. There was no one available to do a straight razor outline. My son also got a kids haircut ($18),he wasn't on the schedule but I was done quickly. The hair cut quality was on par with a chain store like Great Clips. Refine's price was much higher. The only extra you get from Refine is a straight razor on the back of your neck. A Great Clips hair cut cost $12-$14. I was charged $25 from Refine since I didn't get the full premium service (no scalp massage, shampoo, or style) plus $10 for a quick beard trim. My sons haircut cost $18. Very steep for a basic kids cut. They do offer a discount for Military and First Responders much like chain stores. My total for two hair cuts and a beard trim not including tip was $53.00. I would have paid less than $30 at Great Clips. People typically pay premium prices for a premium service. I don't feel like a premium service was received. I'm not advising you not to go to Refine Barber Shop, I'm just offering my experience. I will be looking for a new barbershop that offers a true premium service much like the old school Barber Shops. read more

Very nice decor and nice workers. Calvin, sorry buddy for calling you out but u didn't do ur job. My man ordered a beard trim, in town for a wedding he was part of. Not only did I have to send him back to redo the lines*which is ok. But he didn't shave his face, that's part of a beard trim, nor his neck leaving patches and stubble, the mustache was only outline and not even thined. One of the reasons I am being pretty vocal about this is because seems like he just didn't have the time or care to do a good job, didn't hand a mirror to him to show my man what's what or EVEN CLEAN him off. I will finish with thank you for doing his eyebrows but why not also offer the nose hairs. U know how hard it was to drag this dirty hippy in here? I couldn't recommend Refine Classic Barbershop any more highly. I've had my ears lowered there a few times now; each and every time, my wife has been very pleased with the results. So I need a head shave and beard clean up for New Year's Eve. I had a friend suggest refine. I called and scheduled an appointment and hardly had to wait. Sergio was my barber. I'll just say this, if I'm ever in the Nashville area again I will do what it takes to get him to cut the little bit of hair I have. He was very friendly and open to any conversation. My husband waited an hour for a haircut at this barber and ended up walking out. There are 3 barbers and only 5 customers (my husband was one of the 5), so waiting an hour is ridiculous when there are so many options in Mount Juliet to get a haircut. Went to Refine Classic Barber Shop yesterday (Monday) when all the other barber shops were closed. Like the other reviews here the atmosphere and service was excellent. What was NOT excellent was the haircut and shave I got. The hair on one side of my head is twice as long as the other side! The shave was weird in that after applying not one, but two scented hot towels to my face, ice cold shaving cream was then applied and a hot razor, or what I thought was a razor was used for the shave. It must have been the razor from the Play-doh barber shop set, because when I got home I found that some whiskers were shorter than others, but there were absolutely no shaved spots on my face! Jennifer greeted me when I entered on Friday afternoon and asked about walk in. She said they took them as time allowed sign said the same. She said guy in the back right with beard and long hair was finishing up and would take me so I sat down and watched him go over this guys bald head with straight razor at least 3-4 times. He finished up with him after about 10 minutes and came up front and cashed him out and looked on computer then went to the back room. He came out about 5 minutes and walked up to computer and looked at it and then went back to his chair and stood there joking with other barbers for at least another 5-10 minutes then walked back up to computer and looked then went back to back room and was in there at least another 5 minutes or longer came out and joked with another barber who just came in and they both went back into back room. I had been sitting there about 30 minutes by this time. He came back out with other barber who both came up front and looked at computer then went back to their chairs and sat down. I looked at my watch and I had been there about 40 minutes and he had wasted 30 minutes seem to me like stalling till his next customer came in. I got up went down the street to another shop who also took walk in and received a hair cut. I do not have hair on top just sides and wanted to get the sides trimmed up since I am in a military honor guard and was scheduled to do a funeral. I was in town visiting my son and would not have time when I got back home. Jennifer had a customer during this time so I rather than make a scene just got up and walked out.
