I started seeing her a year before my wedding with the goal of improving my overall skin texture, tone, and health. Besides being a master of her craft, Valeriya is just the sweetest, kindest, most patient person. She really takes the time to get to know you and your skin. Of course you have to go semi-consistently for this to really be possible, but consistency is key with anything skin-related, and patience too. The first time I saw her I did a Hydrafacial, but she recommended we switch to DMK and that's what we've been doing almost every session since (with a few chemical peels sprinkled in). Every time I see her she switches things up as needed based on what my skin needs that day. That's what I love about her--it's never one-size-fits-all with her treatments--she understands my skin and can predict what it needs and how it will react. She's also incredibly generous with her time and will respond to texts whenever I have had questions outside of our sessions--she truly cares about her clients and their outcomes. I've also done Aerolase laser treatments a couple of times to target stubborn cystic pimples and have had great results. Of course Valeriya doesn't do the laser herself, but her nurse Pearl is such a sweetheart as well and I love that her and Valeriya work together as a team to make sure their clients are getting the right combination of treatments to address their specific skin concerns. Valeriya is never pushy with products, but I have purchased and used many of the products she has recommended to me since I started working with her. Although not every single product has become a consistent staple in my skincare routine, the ones that have are products I am truly obsessed with and feel have made a massive difference in my skin since using them consistently. My skin was absolutely glowing on my wedding day and I give 90% of the credit for that to Valeriya, and only 10% to myself for being consistent with my skincare routine (that Valeriya created for me). My husband said Rafael did what he could but unfortunately did not get most of his knots out. When he got home, I massaged his back and was surprised with the amount of knots he still had. It was as if he never got his deep tissue massage. I'm deeply saddened because my husband still ended up paying out of pocket (expensive massage) and he did not feel relaxed after. The space is one giant room with curtains separating guests as they are getting their facials. It has high ceilings and the space is very soothing once you enter. On a Monday afternoon, it was really busy! I could tell as I was being taken to my section that there were at least 4-5 other people getting their facials. Once you're with your esthetician, you go through the usual questions (allergies, sensitivities, what products did you use this week, etc.) and the facial starts! The facial went by pretty quickly and there's a short massage (with some aromatherapy) starting and ending the facial which was very stress relieving. My overall payment + tip came out to around $120. And I got some samples to bring home with me to try! I think if/when I was to come next time, the only thing I would change is not have the add on (scalp massage) as I couldn't feel it during my facial. But other than that I think that FACE FOUNDRIÉ is worth trying at least once if you're looking for a facial at an inexpensive price point and looking for a place that can help you start maintaining a facial routine.

I arrived for my appointment and my new gal was very professional. I again expressed my concerns about acne and fragrance and she still recommended I do the two products I had originally booked. She opted not to use two products that did have fragrance in it so I appreciated that, but given so many of the products she did use had a scent to them, I'm not convinced I usually all non-fragrance products. The treatment itself just didn't feel very great and felt very everyday -- a jade roller, a face mask, and 4 warm towels. Also when she went to clean my skin and exfoliate, she only identified 6 areas to pick at. When I usually get a facial, the gal is picking my skin A TON and I feel like she's really cleaning out the skin. I didn't feel like I got a "deep clean". Then finally the nail in the coffin was when I was checking out was the receptionist wasn't going to honor the first time 25% off promo. If I hadn't brought it up, she wouldn't have applied it.That felt very sleazy and dishonest. Paula doesn't try to sell you on products, or pressure you into anything, and is incredibly thorough. I was having terrible skin problems and my dermatologist had recommended I go on acutane. One pretty painful visit with Paula later, and my skin was clearing up. After three it looked the best it had in years. She uses a clean, efficient way of extracting blackheads, etc. with a small blade. It is painful in the instant, but she's very precise and keeps talking to you (remember minute details of your life) in her nice Irish accent as she goes. The atmosphere is lovely, but all that is nice to have, the need to gas is a meticulous and incredibly thorough esthetican--She is that and then some! Best of all, she's happy to check out other random things like a zit on your arm, or a blackhead in your ear. In my most recent visit, she extracted a giant blackhead from my otherwise very clean ears that other estheticians never even saw, let alone were willing to go after. She also can do fun things like tint your eyebrows while you wait for a mask to set, which nicely distracts from the redness of your face post facial. Prices may seem steep compared to random facials at spas, but for what she does, Paula is undercharging. This thorough of extraction cost me $180-230 elsewhere in DC, Seattle, and SF. She's about $150 and worth every penny! Plus, as your skin clears up, she recommends you come less frequently because she's conscious of price!!! Cannot recommend enough!
