And I think you're right, but unfortunately for my skin, I like my swim meets and I'm going to continue to go. And guess what, I've recently discovered the perfect antidote: A facial from Renata! She is knowledgeable, friendly, and gentle (yet firm on extractions). I love the extra perks of the cozy environment with a warm bed and sheets, eucalyptus-scented warm towels, and the neck and shoulder massage. I've been to Renata two times already and I will definitely be going to her more now that I have moved back into the city! The biggest issue with my skin is that I have clogged pores so both times I went in for the Deep Pore Facial and I saw significant results in a matter of a couple of days. Due to the extractions that are done during the facial I did have a bit of bruising that lasted for about 3 days which is normal, but after the bruising disappeared my skin was glowing! I highly recommend Renata to anyone looking to get a facial! Shes extremely friendly and she was also helpful in giving me tips to use natural products to help my skin during the healing process rather than pushing her own products. The great thing about TPS starts with convenient parking; I was able to find free two hour street parking just half a block down on Union Street. Renata was very warm and kind, and she takes great care of her clients by catering to every little detail: warming up the bed and covers, offering water, and went over each step of the treatment process. Since the spa isn't in a commercial setting (it's in a I guess Victorian style home), I felt like there's no rush through, which means greater relaxation in a quieter environment. It's not fancy, but the decent prices and her friendliness make it a great place for spa treatment. Right when you get inside the door, there's a bathroom, and few chairs where clients can sit and read some magazines while waiting for treatment. Although I didn't fall asleep during the massage like I have had in the past, this indeed was still a very relaxing experience. She's also very accommodating with appointment needs, greatest thing is the oils she used on me left a faint fragrance on me for the rest of the day, loved it! read more

Unlike salons/wax centers, Renata really takes her time doing and perfecting it. She waxes it and with a magnifying lens, plucks whatever hair was still stubborn enough to be there. Instead of being painful or annoying - as these things can sometimes be - I usually find myself falling asleep during the "procedure". Renata is one of the reasons that, even though I moved to the east coast, I still find myself coming back to see her every time I'm in town. I've been going to her regularly (once every 1-2 months) for almost 2.5 years and my skin has never been better. Renata customizes every facial depending on how your skin is at that moment. Having a breakout? She'll tailor your facial to what you need to combat those pesky pimples. Having a dull day? She'll liven it up with products to help you glow. She's realistic in terms of the products she recommends (notice I say "recommend" not "forces" like some other people in the biz are known to do). She's a big fan of affordable, easily attainable products like Vitamin E, Collagen powder, and Tea Tree Oil. All things I now use daily thanks to her recommendation. In short, Renata is the BEST. Her facilities are clean, cozy, and beautiful which aids in the all-over relaxing, perfect, spa-like experience.
