Getting The Upkeeper treatment monthly has been such a game changer for me. My skin has never looked or felt better. Nics is the absolute sweetest and is the Skin Expert that takes care of me 99.9% of the time. She is so thorough during the treatment and I always leave Saelo with glowing skin. I have gone in for The Idealist treatment twice now since writing this review and Allison handled both appointments. During my first appointment in July, I had units of Xeomin injected into my forehead, glabella, and masseters. I was initially a bit hesistant to get Xeomin but Allison made me feel very comfortable and informed before proceeding. During my second appointment in August, I had shots of Oligio all over my face and jawline. When first getting Oligio, I wasn't too sure what to expect in terms of results. Now I am 3-months post-treatment and beyond impressed. My jawline looks so much sharper and my face is a lot more balanced in terms of shape. I've neglected my skin for far too long, not having had a facial in over 10 years. What better way to start my skin journey than with the city's first Korean skin care clinic: Saelo. Unless you've been sleeping than you know Korean glass skin is goals! Opening in late June 2024, Saelo uses high-tech, advanced technology from Korea not used in the U.S. They received so much interest that within 1-2 days of opening their appointment books, they sold out for July and most of August. I booked my appointment in late June and wasn't seen until last week but it was totally worth the wait. S E R V I C E S * The Upkeeper: 45 minute hydrofacial ($169) * The Devotee: 60 minute skin regeneration with microneedling ($389) * The Idealist: A custom treatment for facial rebalancing using injectables, filler, laser, and radiofrequency (starts at $800) - Injections/filler performed by an RN. Not available yet. NO TIP! What you see is what you pay. Upon arrival in the treatment room, I was provided with plushy disposable slippers and offered a weighted blanket. T H E U P K E E P E R For the soft opening, it was only $99 for the abbreviated 30 minute version. No LED or HIFU (ultrasound treatment) in the 30 minute session but included in the 45 minute session. The hydrofacial included skin analysis, cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration, and antioxidant protection. It's finished with a strengthening ampoule (like a serum) and modeling mask with 24 k gold to improve fine lines. They use an Aqua Peel for exfoliation and extractions, very cooling and relaxing. No downtime. Histolab skincare products are used and they have plans to get them in for purchase. With my sensitive skin, a custom blend of skin care products (i.e. face cream) was created for me. Soooo incredibly lucky to have lucked out and secured an appointment for today! I did the Upkeeper at 3:30pm on a weekend (07.06) for $99 and this was totally worth it! The Korean hydrofacial treatment cleanses, extracts, and hydrates resulting in "glass skin". It's a hydrodermabrasion procedure safe for all skin types that combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration, and antioxidant protection. Finishes with a strengthening ampoule and modeling mask to improve fine lines & acne. Unlike other hydrofacials, their serums include renowned Kbeauty anti-inflammatory ingredient, Centella Asiatica. (Summary from their website). Parking can be tough around here but luckily I don't live far from here and it's within walking distance/short bus ride! I had the pleasure of having Nic as my esthetician who did an AMAZING job with asking me questions about my skincare and what I wanted her to focus on. There is a bin for you to put your belongings in, a weighted blanket that I loved and a wrapped towel to cover up my hair. Nic explained what products she was using on my face and the benefits which were very much appreciated! My favorite product that was used was the peppermint mask and when it was time to remove it she showed me the aftermath which was super satisfying to see. Next time I will have to take a picture! They didn't have the products available to purchase at the time but since then I've been told they have a few options now and are opening up a second room! Saelo was recommended to me by my friend. I live an hour away so I was a bit skeptical about coming here, but needed a facial! To get the appt, Saelo releases their appointments for the next month on the 15th of the month before. It's a battle, so try and book asap! If you follow their IG, you can get notifications on last minute cancels and openings. When I came to my appt, it seems that there's only one room (?). It was a self check in process and fairly easy. I had Michelle and she was so professional and thorough. She explained everything in a professional manner and her extractions were not too bad. If you're looking for a relaxing spa day, this isn't one of those. If you're looking for lasting results this is the place to go! read more

I saw this spot on TikTok when one of the owners (Kipeum) posted a video about a Korean skin/spa opening in sf. Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that Korean skincare is all the rage, so I had to check it out. As part of their soft opening, they offered a shorter/discounted version of their standard facial called the Upkeeper. The normal Upkeeper is 45 minutes, and I booked the short version for 30 minutes (mostly because of budget purposes) but also because the appointment was sooner! I think they currently closed appointments and their waitlist due to demand being so high! But I'm guessing they'll open the books again when the second room is ready, maybe in September. They currently only have one spa room (working on their second one quickly), and they have 2 estheticians (for now). I'm sure when their second room is open, they'll hire another one or two people! Their space is in a Victorian building. They will email you instructions on how to enter when you book an appointment. But it's all very easy and straightforward. Street parking around was limited but I think it would've been ok. (Came at 11 on a Saturday.) I took a Waymo just in case parking was bad, but give yourself 10-15 minutes to look for parking, and I think it'd be fine. I saw Nicole today, and right from the start, she's so friendly and welcoming! Since this isn't a traditional facial, you don't even undress your top half, but you get a bin to put your stuff in and an option of slippers to put on. The bed is comfy, and there are giant mirrors all along one wall so you can see your glowy face after. You get a towel to cover your top, a weighted blanket, and they wrap a towel around your head to cover your hair. One attention to detail I super appreciated from Nicole was that I have stubborn ear piercings that won't heal, and as she was wrapping my head, she asked if any of my piercings were new and possibly getting squished. She was very gentle, and my ears were fine. But props to her for noticing and asking! Loved that! She was very nice the entire time and explained every single thing she put on my face and why it was a good serum or acid (etc) to use and what it does or helps do. Every product she used felt and smelled really good. Since I had the 30 minute version of the Upkeeper, I did not receive any light treatment but I received a couple of masks (custom mix of things), and she used a tool that feels like a suction/vacuum all over my face which felt so good and satisfying. For my custom mask, I had hyaluronic acid, then she placed gauze over me, and then she did a peppermint mask (which smelled so good!) on top of that because it becomes almost a solid rubbery texture. So when it was time, she easily took off the rubbery mask layer by removing the gauze first. Then a final touch, she used a serum(?) or item similar to toner that feels and smells so good (used a couple times throughout the facial), and then moisturizer, lip balm (?), and sunscreen. The sunscreen felt and smelled so good that I bought it to use at home. It's hard to find a sunscreen that I like and also enjoy the smell of on my face, so I'm so happy they have a few products to sell now! I would highly recommend anyone interested in Korean skincare to try this facial, and I highly recommend requesting Nicole if you can! Also, the place is very clean and you can tell they put so much work into the renovation of the space. I'll be back in October to try the full 45 minute version of the Upkeeper, and I can't wait! Nicole mentioned she wasn't sure if they'll keep the 30 minute version of the Upkeeper forever, but I kind of hope they do because it's a nice option to have if you want to save a little bit of money but are interested in giving the facial a try. Or if you want to try to squeeze in a facial on a lunch break. So if you see it, definitely try to book it when the books are open again! read more

Had an Upkeeper Facial at Saelo this weekend and loved the experience and service! I only get facials very rarely but that might be changing after having one here. They have high tech Korean clinical treatments and offer 2 services currently. The Upkeeper is a hydrofacial with LED light therapy for a flat rate of $169 (no tip needed). They cleanse your face, exfoliate and do extractions. It felt very comfortable and relaxing, great service for the price. The aesthetician was very nice and friendly! She answered all my skincare questions and had a very gentle touch too. Definitely recommend, my skin felt great after! It gave me glass skin. There was some redness from the extractions that went away within an hour or so. It can be hard to get a reservation since they book up quickly! I recommend following them on Instagram if you're a new customer because they announce open appointments through their stories. I was checking for appointments and randomly was able to get one on Thursday as a last minute one. I got the upkeeper for 45 mins with Michelle. The place is in a Victorian house and it's super cute and aesthetic inside. They give you instructions on how to get in and how to check in. The 45 min facial went by really fast. Love how she asked what my skin type was, what my concerns were and literally tailored a facial for my skin type. One thing I like is when the estheticians let me know what they are doing and Michelle was great with that. I always knew what she was doing and she made sure I was comfortable! I'd recommend following them on instagram and turning notifications on for their posts/stories because they will have last minute cancellations sometimes which is how I ended up getting my appointment! Once you get your first appointment, it's a lot easier to book future ones. I got the upkeeper 45 min facial which is $169 (flat price - they don't do tipping). All of their devices and products are straight from South Korea and I was extremely happy with my experience and my results! Nics really took the time to explain every step of the facial, telling me what she was doing and letting me know what ingredients were being used which was so helpful. This was also the first facial i've had where they also applied lip care, spf, and free samples! This is definitely going to be my go to spot in the city now. The space is also so cute, it's tucked away inside this cute victorian home in Pac Heights and the waiting area is open and spacious. They're really good about sending instructions and reminders so I didn't feel lost at all when checking in. I had the devotee treatment done. It was very relaxing. You enter the room and it smells SO GOOD. They give you a weighted blanket and she explains everything that she's doing the facialist was really kind and seemed well educated on the products the spicules and exosomes seem to work really well. You are not supposed to wash your face or get it off of your face for 24 hours and even after I did that I can still feel some tingling when applying sunscreen which I liked because it made me feel like it actually worked the next day I went to work without make up because I felt so smooth and confident it's now been a couple of days and I think it's still looking really good. They say you need to do three treatments for it to really show results but they barely have enough follow up time for when she recommended so that was a bummer. I think I'll try to go again one day, but it doesn't seem like I'll be doing it anytime soon. I think my favorite part was the facial massages that she did prior to the actual treatment. read more
