Before they'd even check my insurance, they tried to hit me with an outrageous fee, no verification, no explanation. Then, without so much as a basic assessment, no vitals, no exam, nothing, staff told me to "go to the hospital," while I could hear them discussing how the doctor wanted to close early. My breathing problem wasn't the priority. Getting me to pay up and getting me out the door was. This isn't a minor inconvenience. Quoting a patient a large fee before even confirming their coverage, then turning them away in respiratory distress without an evaluation so staff could leave early, is a serious failure. Both financially predatory and a failure of basic care. Between the inflated fee and being refused care I came in during business hours for, this feels less like an off day and more like a pattern of putting money and convenience over patients. I booked this company to do my SneakPeek gender sample collection + ultrasound. They tried two…read moretests on me and pricked me twice and weren't able to get a good sample for the gender test. Which is fine, I understand sometimes things happen. The company (Sneak Peek) offered to let me have a retest done since they weren't able to properly do it the first two times, all Bun + Oven had to do was administer the retest since that's the company I had gone through. They are saying they can't come unless I purchase another ultrasound (another $200) and there's nothing they can do. I never even received the photos from the first ultrasound they did. I'm so excited to become a new mom and really thought I could trust this company and that's why I didn't just order a test through the website. I spent over $350 with them and got nothing I paid for and they just weren't able to come to any type of resolution. I live in studio city and they're based in studio city. Just heartbreaking that people can really take what's supposed to be someone's happiest moments and make it a money grab, and I should've never trusted them. Admittedly, it is also a blessing and certainly helps discover the mysterious factors effecting our bodies. I am currently having some issues which seem to be baffling doctors and required ultrasounds of my mid-section organs (liver, gall bladder, pancreas, bladder, etc). I was referred to University Imaging by the Urgent Care in Studio City. University Imaging is located on a busy intersection with a surprise alleyway entrance which pops out of nowhere. Not to mention, it is marked as one-way (in) but is also the way out (plus,it is only one-lane) so it is an accident waiting to happen (is this irony?). Be careful! The entrance to the business is in the back of the building so don't try to go in through the front. Once inside, University Imaging is quite welcoming in terms of appearance. Instead of having a clinical hospital-like feel, University Imaging has warm colors, a TV, and fresh snacks/refreshments. This continues into the examining rooms which look more like a massage spa having low lights, wooden floors, flowers... one would almost expect the sound of waterfalls or birds! It's very zen. The only negative is that the back area is squished: you can see into other rooms if the doors are open and you have to walk by the radiologists on computers to get to some of the examining rooms (this was the case with me). I had to get an ultrasound so I can't vouch for the MRI or X-ray services. However, my experience with Dr. Farrokh Zandpour was excellent. He constantly made sure that I was comfortable and made genuine conversation (although sticking to protocol of not telling me if he saw something wrong). He even asked if I wanted to check my phone when an alert beeped in my purse! The great thing about him was that he went above and beyond the call of duty by checking other organs/areas versus just what the doctor ordered. He stated that some doctors make their minds up ahead of time so he wanted to make sure all areas were covered. Impressive! He was very thorough and I felt I was getting my money's worth (services for about an hour of ultrasounds cost $125 with no insurance. Must be paid in full on the spot. Credit cards are accepted). My major complaint was with the customer service of the reception staff. Red flags went off when I first called to make my appointment. The girl I spoke to was quick to rush me off the phone and gave me no details of what to expect or prepare. When I arrived, the receptionist attending to me (there are always two on duty) was chomping gum in my face like a cow (how professional!) and was quite rude with an attitude. She also tried to have me pre-pay which I had concerns with and I said I would pay afterwards which obviously upped her attitude. A week or so after my testing, I needed copies of my ultrasounds for further doctors and I called University Imaging to ask how I could obtain these. The receptionist said their machine was down that day but they would be fixed the next day and that I could come in during business hours to get a burned CD of my ultrasound images (for free). I went in about 4 days later to learn that the machine was still down and so they couldn't burn the CD. Of course no one told me so I drove there for no reason! Wow! Thanks, University Imaging! Luckily, I was able to ask the same gum-addicted receptionist to mail me the CD when the machine was working in order to avoid driving back needlessly. The CD arrived a couple says later so at least that was speedy. Speaking of speedy, University Imaging was quick to send my ultrasound results to the Urgent Care doctor who had my results within an hour after my session. Overall, University Imaging is great in terms of the actual radiologists and ultrasound service but the receptionist and customer service end of things are terrible and makes patients feel unwelcome and like they are merely being a hassle to University Imaging. This is unacceptable and is strong enough that the thought of going back isn't necessarily a pleasant one. I suppose however, that the important thing is the medical service which seems to be on-par. Just try to ignore the poor receptionists and client care. As a note: my ultrasounds were clear and now I have to see some specialists...

The office is very clean, staff is friendly, they have a lovely assortment of drinks and snacks in the waiting area, and ample parking. My fiance has a very busy schedule and this office was kind enough to schedule 3 MRI's for him in one session (other places make you come back). His MRI tech was Bobby, who was a very friendly and personable guy that made my fiance comfortable right away. Not sure what type of VIP service people expect when going to busy medical offices, but I definitely give this place 5 stars for their service and cleanliness.

Unfortunately, our experience with the nurse practitioner, Debra, completely overshadowed the positive interactions with the rest of the staff. My boyfriend was seen for a painful superficial skin issue and was prescribed doxycycline. When I asked about the significant sun sensitivity associated with doxycycline, Debra dismissed my concern and insisted that all antibiotics cause sun sensitivity. Rather than acknowledging that tetracyclines, such as doxycycline, are particularly well known for causing photosensitivity, she argued with me and didn't seem interested in discussing alternative treatment options or explaining why doxycycline was the best choice in his case. What was even more concerning was the lack of discharge education. We were not given clear instructions on how to care for the wound or perform dressing changes at home, which is basic patient education after treating and dressing a skin lesion. I am a registered nurse and work very closely with physicians, surgeons, and anesthesiologists every day, so I understand that every medication has risks and benefits. My concern wasn't that doxycycline was prescribed--it was the dismissive attitude and the inaccurate, oversimplified explanation I received when I asked a reasonable question. Patients deserve to have their concerns addressed respectfully and to receive thorough education before leaving the clinic. We left feeling frustrated and underinformed. While the rest of the staff was kind, the quality of care and communication from Debra fell far below what I would expect from an urgent care. I hope this feedback encourages better patient education, more respectful communication, and a willingness to address patients' questions instead of dismissing them.

When I saw more than adequate availability…read morefor gender reveal ultrasounds, I booked an appointment online within their one listed stipulation of a "Monday through Thursday" time slot. I called ahead to ensure that this would be a free scan as promised when the $143 I paid for my original gender reveal ultrasound failed to identify my baby's gender. Surprise surprise - even though I booked one of 16(!!!) available appointments on a Monday and they literally already have time set aside for me on their schedule, the representative on the phone said no, I could not come in at my booked time for a free follow up scan and continued to offer me times that do not work for my schedule. (I am a mom of three, almost 4, so I am not available for all hours of every day. I was available to many other times Monday-Thursday when I called last week, but they would not book me for those times despite their all day availability shown on their website's schedule.) The representative told me they only reserve a few spots for follow up appointments and the rest are for paid appointments. My response to that is that it's their job to make it up to me if I DID already pay a heinous amount of money for a service that was not completed, and also that their promo text offering the free follow up scan stipulates a "Monday-Thursday" appointment, not "unless another pregnant lady already booked a follow up that week." To be frank, if they have 16-20+ appointments available for every day of the week on their calendar, I am clearly not at all getting in the way of them accommodating other paying customers they haven't ripped off yet. To management - do the right thing , the honest thing, and the courteous thing and honor your promise to provide pregnant mothers the services they paid for. Calling to ask today if I could be seen for my appointment time they had available and that I booked (within the listed Monday-Thursday parameters) should have been a no brainer for anyone with an inkling of care for quality customer service. I have many recently married friends just now starting their families who I would have enthusiastically recommended this place to, but sorry to say after this sheer lack of basic courtesy, I will no longer be returning for additional scans for this baby or future babies, nor will I suggest my many imminently pregnant friends go there. In fact, if any ask, I will transparently share they are not courteous, not ready to look out for the needs of pregnant mothers, and absolutely not worth the money.
