Good thing we didn't limit ourselves to "thrift" items only on this "thrift crawl" or else we wouldn't have been to many of the other stores on Valencia. Reformation is one space that is captivating and beautifully laid out. Also minimally so you can see each piece. Lots of options for summer garden parties, picnics and maybe looking cute by the lake from their current selections. Lots of dresses that's got smooth silky fabrics, cuts that's sexy to look at. ngl i went in here today to spend a lot of money on new clothes. then a song by an artist i like came on and i was smiling bopping along in a good mood. the employees proceeded to say mean things about the artist the whole time i was browsing the store. the mean girl takes about people who like that artist being a "red flag" turned me off so much. i didn't even feel like being in the same room as these women anymore so i left without even trying anything on. come in to your store in a good mood and was pretty much called a red flag - didn't motivate me to spend my money here whatsoever. read more

Really poor experience in the store today. I walked in and was greeted, but then as soon as I started to ask the greeter a question she completely ignored me and turned to talk to her friends. It was pretty awkward because I was literally 2 feet away and she could clearly see I needed help. Later in the dressing room it was hard to get help, and then when she finally came over I was in the middle of asking a question and another customer rudely interjected and asked her to come over. Instead of saying one moment she walked away to help her instead. I get that there's only so much employees can do with rude customers, but the correct way to handle that would be to ask the other customer to wait a moment and finish helping me- since I'd asked for help first. Just a really bizarre experience and it really made me not want to spend anything here. I ended up going to the Fillmore location later. read more

I hate that I love shopping here. Hate it because it is so so expensive. I'm trying to live that #sustainable life, so it's only secondhand clothing, Reformation, and Everlane. I like that I can shop at all these places in the Mission. I also love shopping online because I get to peruse all options with no pressure from people rushing me to make a purchase decision. Reformation has a winning combo with their private rooms where you can "order" things to your dressing room via a tablet in the dressing room. You get to try on as much as you want in the privacy of your own space, with your own music (AUX cable to plug in your phone, sadly doesn't work with my new iPhone), and with your own lighting (Golden Hour setting?? yes please!). If you're in there, technically, you could spend an hour in there requesting items to be sent to your room with no shame since you don't feel bad having to ask someone face to face (i'm that person that hates having to talk to real people lol). It actually works in their favor because I find myself buying a lot more than I would in a standard dressing room model. Besides their dope dressing room situation, their clothes are just so beautiful. I tend to choose their dresses and jumpsuits (since i feel like the value is better, I mean some of their shirts are the same price as a dress, which in my mind is a shirt and bottom). Definitely check out any Reformation location, but this one gets extra points since it is close to my other favorite shopping places =) read more

The new store and concept are true to the company's vision and trajectory over the years - commitment to sustainability + combining technology to make for a really unique shopping experience. You can even set the dressing room lights to whatever shade suits your current mood, and plug in your iphone to play music. I love that you can pick out additional items/sizes while you're in the dressing room from a giant touch screen monitor. Once the item arrives, you receive a message on the screen, open your wardrobe, and viola! There it is waiting for you to try on! I've loved Reformation for years. I feel it has something for everyone. And now we don't have to travel to LA or NY (ok, we still will) to visit the store. Go check it out! :) read more

The staff is friendly without being too in-your-face or nosy, the store layout is spacious and clean, and the fashion is beautiful with wonderful fabrics and a sense of style that transcends the frumpy hipster trends. But most of all, this store is 100% WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBLE!!!! They installed an automatic door with easy-to-access push buttons both inside and out, and the doors are wide and easy for any wheelchair or mobility scooter to move through! What a refreshing, thoughtful amenity!! Not even Macy's on Union Square offers such easy accessibility!! I noticed that a lot of the dresses were made with actual silk, as opposed to rayons or polyesters, and the prices seemed similar to the higher-end of Banana Republic. Several of the evening dresses I looked at were marked at $249, which is a lot of money, so not affordable for every budget. But if you're looking for a stunning, long, red silk dress, and a size 0-12, this would be a good place to start looking! Ahh, yes, they don't carry PLUS SIZES...What a huge missed opportunity, especially in a world post-ModCloth!! If they did, I'd give them a 5th star!!! And they don't carry every size on their floor...you're expected to use their phone app or a screen in the store to select the items and sizes you want for your dressing room. What this means to me is that this is not a store you can dash in and out of if you need/want to try things on. If you're shopping with someone who doesn't want to go into the dressing room with you, there's a comfortable seating area that looks like a mod living room you might find in Dwell Magazine. Given that it could take a while for your dressing room experience, your friend/SO/parents will thank you for picking a place with decent seating! So far, there's nothing in this store that appeals to me personally, as the clothing doesn't come in my size and the accessories are my own personal style...but I DO recognize and appreciate quality fabrics and well-designed styles. If I DID fit in this size range, I'd definitely be trying that red silk dress on! read more

I went in to pick up and try on a dress that I ordered to the store. All of the employees looked me up and down with a hostile attitude when I walked in. I asked two employees for help in the dressing room and both told me to wait despite the store only having 4 customers at the time. Having been in customer service for 3 years, I have always been taught to be attentive to customer's needs first, not chatting with my co-workers. I will be purchasing online, rather than in store in the future. read more

-Customer service is definitely something here compared to the Los Angeles location. I was immediately greeted when I walked into the store. I noticed that all the sales associates were wearing the same tops and jeans, which was cute for a few seconds then became lightweight creepy. They were very attentive and on top of it. I was checking out this denim skirt and a sales associate appeared next to me and asked if I wanted to try it on/knew what size I needed. The whole concept is to not have customers holding piles of clothing while shopping AND also limit the amount of go-backs sales associates need to fold and put back. -After finding what I wanted and having the sales associates find the sizes I needed, I was brought to my fitting room. Reformation's fitting rooms are probably what I envision fitting rooms to be in my dreams. There are four light settings you can switch back and forth between depending on the outfit you're trying on. Behind you will be an interactive screen where you can choose more things to try on and even make a purchase. The main component of the fitting room is the wardrobe, aka my favorite part! Once you open it, all the items you requested to try on are in there. But what happens if you requested a size that's too small/big for you? It's so easy, just utilize the touch screen and choose a different size to be placed in your wardrobe. The screen does say to make sure your wardrobe doors are closed, in order for an employee to place the item in. Maybe it's just me, but what if some creep decides not to close their wardrobe door when an employee places an item inside? Such a fun and efficient shopping experience. The display of the store is minimally pleasing since the clothing on the sales floor are "samples." I wanted to purchase a tote bag from here, but felt that the material was too thin and the size was too small. All this aside, Reformation is the future of retail shopping. read more

Love this store and the experience that comes along with it. I find their clothes to be trendy, good quality and nice fit. The associates at this location are stylish and down to earth. I actually feel comfortable coming out of the fitting room because I know they'll give me an honest opinion or useful styling advice. If I can't find what I'm looking for, often they'll pull something magically from the back that might work out! I've seen customers get frustrated when they can't get into a fitting room right away, but I understand Reformation wants to create an elevated shopping experience once you are in the room. Come on a day when you have a little extra time, you will be happy you did :) read more

The whole time I was there the two of them were having a conversation about something and made me feel bad for interrupting them to ask them questions. Updating my review because I have finally shopped at Reformation several times. They release limited runs of items. This means that they can follow trends quickly but also there are no sales (AFAIK) because it appears the limited supply means they will usually sell out. Also, the fit is very good on many pieces (which is important for many of their styles.) I'm no looker, but I do have bullseye fit model measurements for my size. The good thing about the Ref clothing is that the limited run of clothes appears to maintain precision in sizing (the 100th velvet wrap-around dress fits the same as the first; the size XL is scaled proportionately from the XS). I'm still torn on this store because I'm not sold on how synthetic material, even if it's vintage, is now the "eco friendly option". Especially because everything needs to be either hand-washed or dry-cleaned. I get that the industry for natural materials also have destructive effects, however, the prime motivation in retail is not the environment - it's overhead and profit. What Reformation is doing is just a common way of manufacturing clothes with very low overhead cost. However, they are spinning it with some weird story. It seems that the SF store is a little bit of an Ref outlet? It's definitely not getting the items when they launch. It has all of the "Last Chances" though. read more

Came in with the specific style of dress I wanted for a wedding rehearsal dinner and from the minute I walked in, wasn't greeted while every other customer who walked in after me was greeted and asked if they needed help. Walked around with the dress I knew I wanted in hand for 10ish minutes, no one bothered to ask if I wanted to try or if I needed help while the sales associates kept approaching other customers in the store. I finally approached a sales associate myself and asked if there was any way I could try on the dresses and was greeted with a cold reception. The entire time every sales associate was accommodating and helpful to every other person in the store and I was ignored. I'm not sure if it's my body type or I don't appear as someone who can afford these dresses but it's simply unacceptable and quite frankly annoying. read more

Really cool store concept. All the floor pieces are samples so you pick out what you like and then someone will get your fitting room together with your sizes But here comes the best part - once you get into your room there's a huge touch screen where you can keep shopping! Your fitting room also has a mini "closet" where the clothes sit. You select other items that you want to try (size and color) and then close your "closet" doors and someone from the other side gets your items and deposits them into your "closet". They notify you on the screen when your new items are ready - so you can try on tons of things without leaving the fitting room!! The clothes are really pricey though so beware because the cool shopping experience might make you spend more than you were budgeting. read more

I've loved Reformation for a little while now, but had just resorted to buying pieces online. When I discovered that this store was opening close to my apartment, I was thrilled, and after visiting a few times I have not been let down! First of all, the sales girls are very nice, not snooty at all or too in-your-face. The touch screens are an awesome feature for someone like me, who's slightly self-conscious and a bit antisocial. If you'd prefer to sift through physical racks of clothing, they have that too. The overall layout of the store is very pleasing to the eye, as the clothing selection on the racks is sparse and minimalistic. I find their clothing to be true to size in general -- I am an XS, and I fit in an XS-S or 0-2 in all of their styles. If you are petite like me, expect to have to tailor your Reformation midi and maxi dresses...so go ahead and factor that into the $200+ price tag. Their largest size is a size 12, to my knowledge. The best parts of the store for me are the dressing rooms. The touch screens inside each room can be used to "order" more clothing, which is delivered directly into a closet connected to the room with no human interaction whatsoever. I've always felt uncomfortable calling out for an associate and asking for another size or style, so this is a much more efficient and less annoying method for me. There are also different light settings in the room, so you can visualize more easily what your outfit will look like day to night. You can also play music, if that's your thing, I guess? Overall, the only negative thing I have to say about this store is that the dressing rooms can get fairly congested. The fact that you can order endless amounts of clothing to your room probably causes people to linger, so waits can get unusually long. The longest wait I've experienced was about ~15 minutes or so, and that was on a Saturday afternoon. So if you're shopping on the weekend at a popular time, just as a heads-up, don't expect to be in and out so quickly. Be respectful and understanding of this! read more

The absolute worst service (or lack thereof) I have ever experienced. I shop at high end stores often partly because of the service that comes along with it. The store says it's opened until 7pm and I came at 5:45pm to find 4 employees sitting on the couches in the lounge area with the door locked. When I tried to open the door they mouthed "we're not open" and when I tried to ask further questions they talked amongst each other as if I wasn't there and said "what is she trying to say". Seriously I've never been treated like that and will NEVER support a brand that treats clients like that. I'm particular when it comes to high quality jeans but nothing is worth being treated like you don't exist. I was initially hesitant to come into the store based on the reviews, but when I needed to exchange something I purchased online, alas it was time. I went in on two separate occasions, and both of the girls working were super kind and helpful. I was a little annoyed at their exchange policy - I had to pay the difference for an item that was on sale, even though I was exchanging it for the exact same item at a different price. I left the store without doing the exchange, then changed my mind and came back a different day ready to pay the price difference. Luckily they were having a sale so I didn't need to pay the difference in price. I get that company policies suck, but you can't let that impact how you view your experience at the store. -store customer service was great, I love the aesthetic, and yes! clothes are expensive but are also sustainable and well made. read more

Ref is my absolute favorite brand and I've been shopping with them for years. Unfortunately my excitement for an SF store was tempered upon visiting. The staff is very nice & professional, but once you request a clothing item, things become very impersonal. Sadly, this is an example of taking SF's love & dependency of tech a bit too far. If I want to shop on an ipad, I'll do it from home or on the go. When I visit a physical location, its because I want *personal* assistance. I do see that a number of people like the process of this store, but I much prefer the personal interaction in the NY and LA shops. The dressing rooms feel more spacious & open and its easy to speak with a sales associate about sizing and other options. I'll continue to visit those locations and shop online, but I'll need to be in a pinch for a specific item to visit the Valencia store again. 3 stars for the staff and merchandise, 0 for the process. read more

I ordered 5 face masks for my elderly father. Website said in stock ships 3-10 business days. They charged me right away on 4/3. A few days later they said they're out of stock will be another week. They never came until I sent an email. Given they arrived 22 days later!!! And instead of 5 assorted colors, we have 5 all of the ugliest tan color. I reached out to customer service, in a nutshell, they said too bad & tried to guilt me by saying they're making them "at cost".... sure! This store is terrible. I tried to call to see if they had something in stock, could not get through, walked there, and was told "we don't have a phone," as if that were a normal thing. They didn't have the item I wanted. When I tried on a similar shirt, the sales person (a) did not explain their weird dressing room process, involving an iPad and opening a closet door in the dressing room (I was totally confused), and (b) told me she "threw in size XS just in case the S was too big...and also because they didn't have a size S" which I had asked for. I had tried something on but decided not to buy it day of - they had so little in store it was almost impossible to try anything before ordering online. Well, I happened to pick the one dress they have in store, but not online and tried to call back a week later to see if they had the item still. I got sent to a voicemail where they say to text. 1.5 hours later still waiting for a confirmation after they asked which store. Since their whole concept is "digital" not quite sure how it could take so long to confirm inventory and for their prices to have such poor customer service. After shopping online at the reformation for years, it's so exciting to see a Reformation store open up in San Francisco. The concept is fantastic- pick the styles of clothes you like, ask for a dressing room, and the clothes you want to try on will be delivered to your room in your sizes. The dressing rooms are amazing- you can control the lighting (warm lighting, cool lighting, etc.) and even order new items to try on via the tv screens in each dressing room. It's like living in the future! read more
