Absolutely terrible work. Was contracted to replace an outdoor TV with a larger TV. The existing TV was working fine the day before Ben started. Ben and his worker ripped the HDMI cable out of the TV shredding the cable and cracked the screen of the TV, such that the picture is now not watchable. Ben denies all this, demonstrating a lack of honesty. I had to hire another contractor to repair his errors and do the job. read more

We had a number of handyman items that needed to be done. Total Construction did an amazing job at a VERY fair price. Ben and his crew fixed a leaking roof pipe, extended some gutter drains, adjusted the pipes for my sprinkler system, added 2 outdoor electrical outlets, fixed an outdoor beam with dry rot, fixed a sticking front door, and fully replaced a broken attic ladder. Some of the jobs were not easy as our house was built in the 50's and had a lot of quirks. But they were able to make adjustments, pivot on some requests, and in the end everything came out amazing. We contacted Ben and the Total Construction & Remodeling team earlier this year for a quote on a full kitchen remodel. Ben was recommended to us by a personal friend who highly recommended his services. After meeting with Ben, we knew he was the right person for the job. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and collaborated with us each step of the way. Their estimates were pretty accurate and they worked with us on payment options. Total Construction did such great work for us! We hired them in February 2023 to completely re-do our roof, which included significant rafter repair in our attic. Additionally, we had them install a French drain outside our house, and had them re-seal a leaking window. Ben and his team did a wonderful job, worked fast and got everything done on schedule. My husband and I decided to go with TCR after meeting with 3 different construction companies. Reason for this was that Ben and Elinor gave us the best price and were 100% up front with the cost and details regarding the renovation; we did go over budget (about $1000) due to unexpected issues - our kitchen required additional plumbing and electrical upgrades in order to meet the expectations we set out for ourselves. The communication with Elinor was a breath of fresh air. There wasn't a day that went by that Elinor did not provide us with an update. If something that we wanted was out of stock, Elinor and team went above and beyond to get us the next best thing, even if it meant coming out of their own pocket. Overall, I am happy with the result. There were some bumps and frustrations along the way, but these things happen in all construction projects. Ben's team worked quickly - 6 days a week and Ben is committed to the customers' satisfaction. The reason this review is 4 and not 5 stars is because of the handymen and subcontractors that TCR uses. The handymen do most of the labor and Ben relies on the customer (me) to manage quality control. My feeling is that the customer should not have to be the one to point out obvious mistakes (like tile or lighting being installed incorrectly, or the handyman using inappropriate materials like bondo which is only appropriate in automotive work). read more

In general, the job was performed well. Ben, the owner, gave a reasonable quote which included all materials. Kudos to the crew, Armando and Andres, who we found to be hardworking, knowledgeable, and experienced in their skills. We had two minor issues after the job was completed which were promptly addressed and corrected. There was, however, a misunderstanding after the work started. At the onset, we were led to believe that repair of light to moderate damage (like mold and wood damage) was included in the original estimate. But later, we were informed that there would have been an extra charge had damage been discovered. Fortunately, that wasn't necessary. We recommend the extent of repair work be clarified in the estimate before work begins (i.e., at what point will additional charges be required if damages are worse than anticipated). Overall, Ben and his crew did excellent work. The price was fair and, once the project started, Armando and Andres worked straight through to completion. Too many people have too much to do to waste an entire afternoon waiting for someone not showing up for an appointment especially if there are thousands of dollars potentially on the line.
