Regal Crossgates used to be the best movie theater in the Capital Region, but it has sadly gone downhill. Given that, the theater is absolutely disgusting now. To make clear, the theaters are dirty and littered with trash. Similarly, most of the theaters smell like weed now. Furthermore, the seats are outdated. To explain, the seats are stained, don't recline, and are stiff as a board. However, the worst part about this theater is definitely the clientele. To breakdown, every time I come here I can't even enjoy the movie. People yell, use their phones, and smoke weed during the movies. For some reason, the employees don't do anything about it. On the flip side, there are some positives to this theater. For example, the theaters are huge and have plenty of seats. Also, they play a lot of Bollywood and independent films that you can't see anywhere else. All told, Regal Crossgates is a shell of its former self due to uncleanliness and outdated seats.

Seats are not cleaned between showings

Not the cleanest theater I have visited. Been a regal fan for decades all over the country and this one by far is disappointing. They offer no AARP, AAA or First responders discount. They refuse to make popcorn without their salt/butter seasoning, and the floors and seats are filthy. The staff is nice, but the environment is awful to experience a movie. I should've stayed home

This is one of the few cinemas in Capital district that plays International movies. It's around 17 to 20 miles from where I live and travel if any good indian movies are released. The cinema compared to the others in the area is outdated. The service I experienced this time around was not good, and would have rated a 1 or a 2 but I took into account my prior experiences here. The place has a small arcade has has age restrictions, and need to be of a specific age or need to be accompanied by an adult. I believe that age needs to be over 17. Regal was the only cinema but lately we have Bow Tie and AMC that could drive competition.

    I max. What's your name.

It's not exactly a theatre fit for royalty, so I wouldn't call it Regal at all. And I'd take Ava Max over IMAX any day of the week. The less said about my experience at this movie theater the better - largely because the prices are really high, especially for Albany, which is kind of an old city that shouldn't be this expensive. But in some ways it is, and I couldn't afford to frequent this movie complex too often if I lived around here. Located at the Crossgates Mall too, so hard to get in and out and park and what not.

Get your IMAX movie on cuz it's the only type of movie to watch at this theater.

What was once fun, is now ho-hum. Once you get taken for a ride at the door, you have the option get your wallet fleeced some more for some stale greasy pop-corn and a small box of candy. Meh... Ok so now you are seated in the theater, the seats squeak, the cushions are do for replacement...the screen...well...what did you just pay $22 for you and your date for?? You went to see a movie on a better quality screen then the one you have at home. Unfortunately that's not the case at Crossgates Cinema 18. I don't think they have upgraded the non IMAX screens since the theater was built over 16 years ago. The screen was dull and the colors were muted. People, I didn't go to see a WWII era film where the colors are under saturated for dramatic affect. No. I went to see The Hobbit- a movie that is supposed to be full of vibrant colors and sweeping landscapes. Instead I felt like I was watching it on my aunt's old rear projection TV. They shouldn't push you to shell out more cash for the IMAX just to get a decent picture. Now this is frustrating because its the same damn company but, next time I'll go to Colonie Center where the picture quality is much better. At least they are using technology from this decade. I would suggest you do too. At least I won't have to walk through a depressing mall to boot.

This was one of the great movies of 2015!

Their location is very interesting with you on one floor heading up an escalator walk approach a very long line at the Snack counter is where you may purchase your tickets, popcorn and many other items including promo popcorn buckets. We were afraid that we were going to be late! NO WORRIES! 1st the line moves fast even though there were ticket machines but they seemed to have been crashing when my DH attempted to use it. 2nd the movies didn't start until 35 mins after the stated time 3rd you may want to bring ear plugs if you don't want you ears ringing all night. The movie theater & rest rooms were clean and properly functioning. Staff were all professional and personable. We will definitely be back. Thank you!

Stop the Nonsense!!!…read more Let me start off by saying, the Theaters are completely empty. That means you (Regal) need ME, more than I need you! Been a year or so, since I went to the Theater for a movie. My nephew asked if I would take him to see Scary Movie today, and I figured it might be a nice afternoon out. So, I went online to purchase tickets. Two Adults = $40, just to see the show. And, it's going to cost me another $30 to get my nephew some popcorn and soda. That is $70 for two adults to go to the theater to see a FREAK'N MOVIE. Not a broadway show. A MOVIE !!! - that we can watch on TV in a few more months. Now, don't get me wrong. I get the math. I worked in a theater, in my late teens. I understand that theaters make very little money on the sale of tickets, which is why they have the need to charge $30 for $0.12 of food product. I Get THAT part. The icing on the cake is the $4 'convenience fee' to purchase your tickets online. Yes, please charge me to take my money. We can debated for days, about the 'convenience' and the cost to cover your web servers, etc. But STOP STOP STOP. Millions of outlets sell merchandise online and don't gouge us with convenience fees to do so. This is just another fee, in a world that has completely exhausted consumers with fees and tipping. IF $70 is in your budget, for two adults to go see a movie - hey, knock yourself out. Enjoy it. But with the current economy, this pricing is wack-a-doodle. I purchased two tickets, an hour before the movie. Including my two tickets, there are a total of 6 seats sold, one hour before the movie. If I were Regal, I would be in a panic, asking my entire executive team to come up with ways to fill those seats - rather than chase people away. But then again, I am not the CEO of an empty theater - so who am I to judge. I will go and enjoy the show today. Will NOT be back. Not EVER.

After being closed for eight months since April 20 24. I really enjoy going to this theater. The staff is helpful and friendly. Great that you can have a meal while watching a movie. I've tried the pizza and cheeseburger and french fries. Very good and reasonably priced. This is a great independent theater in the Pine Hills area of Albany. Please go out and support the Theatre. The owners are trying very hard and people need to come out in large enough numbers so the Theatre can break even financially make a small profit would be great as well. They have trivia night on Fridays. So just come on out see a movie. Enjoy eating something during the film or before you go in to the theater. Keep the movie magic going up on the silver screen.

Then a few minutes after that another patron came back in after trying to get his money back to announce that the movie was not going to play at all. There was no manager or anyone at the theater that knew how to start the movie!!! The poor cashier was on the phone with someone directing him how to scramble for money to give people cash back. I think they even used the bar tips. Incredible. It was obvious that there were only catering to the bar crowd that were doing a trivia night in the lobby. Don't waste your time and money with this place.
