Went to see Brooklyn at the Regal Crossgates 18. My DH and I are addicted to the movies... we go to Crossgates or Colonie Center Theater. Enjoy both places as we usually go a little early and do a little shopping at the mall. Theater is always clean and people are usually respectful of others in not talking. Oh... I mean I hate malls so I can't give it 5 stars, I dislike paying $10 dollars for tickets, I dislike the dollar increase in Candy & Popcorn mon/tues specials. I dislike that my entertainment coupon is for .50cents less than last year as well. so I can't say I'm a fan either. But alas, there aren't many other options. I prefer colonie to crossgates, the crowd is usually nicer, the seats are better, and they have more digtal screens. I DO enjoy the ticket lady who is ALWAYS working at night, she is very nice. Also it is usually clean, and has a great selection of movies. but could ya please fix your coffee machine? Pretty decent facilities considering its location. The seats could use a little more remodeling in terms of adding some flexibility in terms of being able to lean backwards to increase comfort levels. There are a few games on the right when you first enter with concessions on the left. There are theaters that are up the escalators and on the first floor. They also have an imax theater. I am not used to seeing theaters within a mall but i guess it works. Most of the theaters I have seen have their own facilities and distinctively separate from the mall. There is a cute employee that works the concession stands ;) Therefore this place gets 3 stars instead of 2. read more

We see movies at Regal cinema 18 in Cross gates and Regal cinema 10 most of the time. Price for a ticket is a little high due what you get. But it is what it is, until competition comes to the capital district. The theaters are clean and well maintained. The screen size, sound and aisle space are decent. However, it does not compare to the new dinner and a movie theaters going up nationwide. They have electric leather recliners, wider aisles, food from Sundays to burgers and fries and alcohol, yes alcohol. Anything served at a bar can be delivered to your seat. Everything is serverd right to your seat, at a cheaper admission price than Regal theaters. In the dinner and a movie theaters you get so much more, for so much less. So Regal theaters are fine for now, but better days are coming... Hopefully sooner than later. read more

I went to go see a rated R movie this week. It started off normal with the cashier and what seemed to be the manager next to him. I said what movie and snacks I wanted to get. Before I paid however the manager asked to see my ID as you need to be 17 to see a rated R movie. I was a little surprised that he asked me this as we were clearly college students even wearing SUNY Albany merchandise and having our student ID's. However my friend being from the city did not have a photo identification with his birthday on in it on hand. So the manager said we could not see the movie. I looked up the laws and I read that a picture of a drivers license, passport, or other photo identification would be enough. So we texted his mom to have her send us a picture of his passport. This took quite a while and I could tell the manager was looking at us and talking to his co-workers. After we got the picture of the passport we tried to enter the movie as we legally could with the documents present. I approached a new cashier who was very friendly and helpful. I asked if a picture of a passport would work. I knew this most likely would happen as she turned to her manager and asked him. In response we got a rude and snarky "no". I gave some abrasion to the response but there was no real disturbance. Usually I'm not one to leave a bad review, but I could tell this guy was doing it for the sake of being rude. He could have let us in if he wanted to. I could tell he gained satisfaction from kicking us out. I just feel the way he handled the situation was completely unacceptable and irresponsible. I would however like to thank the 2 cashiers that were very nice and helpful. I wish I could remember the managers name but he had short brown hair with a patchy beard and spoke with a higher pitched voice. read more

This theater location will show Fathom entertainment events which happens to be this week Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor on the BIG screen. Tickets are over priced at $40 for one ticket. The staff are usually attentive to customers needs but I saw one particular staff working behind the concessions still serving popcorn after she sneezed on her hands. That alone is my reason for the 2 star rating. I hope to see this location to follow Regal Cinemas at Aviation Mall with the La Z Boy chairs. read more

The rudest customer service ever. I was confused with the movie deal with Johnny Rockets and they were very rude when I had asked them questions. All they had to do was kindly direct me back to Johnny Rockets to talk to them again and sort it out because I needed to apparently get a voucher after my dinner, but they took my confusion even further and treated me with disrespect before even mentioning the voucher. They expressed how much they hated that movie and meal deal because they lost money from it, but they didn't have to belittle me and treat me like an idiot about it when I had no idea how the deal worked. They definitely ruined my movie experience with Regal Cinemas. read more

The staff is ok. I've only ever been serviced by a handful of exceptionally nice people. The prices for food and drink are ridiculous. The quality of the theaters themselves is very poor. Also, the last few times I've seen movies there, the people in the audience were extremely obnoxious and rude. (Shouting, laughing, using their phones, etc...) We'd tell a staff person and they'd do nothing about it, then give us a hard time when we want a refund. The Colonie location is so much better. read more

We normally go to Bow tie Cinemas, but we had a gift card for Regal so we went. The seats were incredibly uncomfortable, and the tickets were infinitely more expensive than Bow Tie. We probably won't return anytime soon. read more

Nice staff and all at this location. Asked for fresh popcorn still got the one that was prepacked in concessions. Didn't bother to repeat myself. I took a star off that and also no student ID or military discount, every other Regal I've been to does at least military discount, not sure if I'll spend $25 on just two tickets to a casual theatre... For being in Albany near a ton of colleges I see why this theatre was empty on a weekend night. Good luck making quotas Regal cross gates. read more

Downright the worst movie theater experience of my life. I have visited a lot of Regal Cinemas but not one as bad as this. You would think such a large cinema would have up to date seating but i believe they are the original seats from the 80's still. Aside from the Back ache i now have from the seats i have to go and rewatch the movie somewhere else because of the screaming 2 year old that was in the row behind us. A packed theater and multiple people asking the mother to take the child out wasn't enough to persuade her. Even the usher didn't do anything about it. Will never return to this theater and will second guess going to any regal cinema ever. read more

Usually no complaints with this theater except the obvious overpriced popcorn and drinks. However this time I found 2 long hairs stuck in my popcorn (YUM!) yet I wasn't in the mood to go complain so I just let it go. As if that wasn't enough, about 30 minutes into the movie it shut off and we were asked for our tickets, which we had thrown away. The manager ended up kicking out me and 4 friends out who had all PAID for overpriced tickets AND overpriced popcorn (with hair) AND overpriced icees. Spent $30 just to get kicked out-- not even halfway through the movie because we threw out our tickets. How would we have gotten in without a ticket??? And why would we be buying all this food if we didn't pay for a ticket?? I am very disappointed in the way the manager handled this situation. Next time I will be sure to make a SCENE over the hair in my popcorn and maybe I'll get treated better. read more

Stadium seating makes me want to puke. Movies were not meant to be seen at eye level. I like to sit on the ground level and let the movie tower over me, but all the ground level seats here are dangerously close to the screen and you hurt your neck a lot. The prices suck, and the commercials before the movie suck more. I can't believe some of the promos they show. So loud and annoying. Plus it gets crowded, even after opening weekends. This is my last resort theater in the area. Just awful. read more

The seating isn't very comfortable and the arm rests are annoying. Also the bathroom could be cleaner.

The theaters are all very clean as far as I can tell, and the screens are well maintained-no rips or tears, hurrah! Believe me, they're pretty distracting. I also think the seating is nice if you sit in the middle, but sitting in the front kinda sucks. You're wayyyy too close to the screen and it's just painful to have to look up so much when you're trying to watch a movie. Also, I'm short so this matters to me A LOT. Anyways, the IMAX theater is alright but I've been to better ones that are not as expensive so I would rather go somewhere else for that sort of thing. And it's also expensive for even a normal priced ticket so it's not worth it to me. I have never tried the concessions, but assumedly they are just your standard popcorn, candy and soda options. Next time I'll get some popcorn. read more

This is one of the uncomfortable movie theaters I've been to, never again. Sure they have 18 screens so you can pretty much be guarantee to watch whatever new releases is out but I rather be comfortable if I am paying 12.00 a ticket to watch a movie. The chairs in the movie theaters are hard and very uncomfortable, and AREN'T like the ones at Colonie center or the Clifton Park Regal cinema's. They need to regulate the temperature too I don't want to be shivering cold, and have to wear my coat when I am trying to enjoy the movie. Go to Colonie center cinema or Clifton Park it is worth the short drive. read more

Seats were extremely unforgettable. The walk to the screen took forever. The girl behind the counter at concession was rude. But the guy in the booth was present. It was extremely over priced. I know it was 9 pm at night but I was still a paying customer. Next time we will be going to Rotterdam Square mall they have $5 Tuesdays. read more

Sooo disappointed, my husband and I went to this theater to see The Upside. The seats are so uncomfortable, the noise from the adjoining theater was so loud we could hear it throughout our movie. Kids came in and made a commotion. For $27.00, I expected a better experience. read more

Saw Safehouse with some friends last night. Clean floors, comfortable seating. As a short person, stadium seating is the way to go. We used coupon book to get cheaper admissions. There were fewer than 20 other patrons in there with us. read more

Then again since my home is a small island I get fascinated with the size of everything in the states. :) I loved the seats, however my boyfriend and I went to watch an IMAX movie and my bf told me they needed to upgrade their IMAX, because he saw bigger and better. read more

Prices are reasonable. IMAX adult is $18.50. Regular movie $12. Watched guardian of the galaxy good times. Guest services held on to my left overs from UNOs. Good selection of snacks at the stand. Don't recommend the gooey bites from Cinnabon on the menu tho, I bet everything else is reasonable. Overall good. read more

The woman at the front overcharged us by 1 movie ticket and we had to wait at an unmanned customer service to get our refund. I asked if they did free refills on Larges and they said yes, but did not tell me that it did not apply to the Icee I bought. The movie was great. The seats were comfortable. When I went out to get a refill on the icee, they told me I could not. When I spoke with the manager, just to tell him that employees should at least give out that information, he was patronizing and condescending and not even apologetic. He half heartedly offered me a free movie ticket as I was walking away, when all I wanted was half a refill on an icee!!! I will choose a different movie theater in the future. I visited this cinema on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 8pm to view Tommy Wiseau's The Room. I was not only impressed but also elated to see that Regal Cinema was going to show this cult classic. Halfway through the showing the manager turned the movie off and turned the lights on. He was upset that people were throwing plastic spoons. He threatened to charge us (the audience-- as a collective) "thousands of dollars" if we damaged the screen (which is essentially just a large white tarp with speakers behind it). Not only did none of the plastic spoons come close to the screen, but also what damage could a cheap plastic spoon do to a tarp? There are no sharp edges to a spoon, and they are very light. Basic research on the room yields the results that movie goers often throw spoons at the screen. The manager was unable to resume the movie where he had left off, so I had to leave. This manager not only ruined my night, but possibly my entire week. Don't go here. read more

I love stadium seating: No one's head will ever block your view, nice headrests and seats actually recline a bit. I enjoy a crowded theater...more excitement and energy from everyone reacting to each scene. I go early to make sure I get a good seat. I agree you should avoid the ground level seating as it's too close to the high screen. Prices are high but so are most theaters. We don't go to this theater often because of the prices, but it is a fun splurge. read more

They have standard stadium seating. Depending on how popular the movie is depends on how big the theater you get seated is. There are 2 floors of theaters. if you have crutches or a wheelchair they let you take elevators that bring you up the second floor. It is actually really cool because they let you out at the top of the stadium seating so you will still get good seats. There is also a consecution stand on the second floor along with the first floor. The bathrooms are also usually clean. read more

A friend and I went to see Tommy Wiseau's The Room. About halfway through the movie, regal cinemas stopped the film, cut to black, brought up the lights, and told people that they could not throw spoons. Now, with minimal research I could understand that throwing spoons is a key aspect of the movie, and so could regal Cinemas. After stopping the movie, they could not get it to properly function when they attempted to restart it. This caused much anguish, and caused lots of people, including myself and my friend, to leave the theaters and seek a refund. There were many other ways that regal cinemas could have gone about dealing with this issue, if (and probably they did) they knew that throwing spoons would be a part of the movie. All and all, I believe that this situation was poorly managed, while simultaneously betraying its customers by not performing basic research into a cult classic. I would assume, as it did for my friend and me, that this experience damaged both our viewing pleasure and the reputation of the theater. As of now, I believe I will be attending their competitors establishments when choosing an establishment to benefit with my money. TLDR: poor management of an admittedly unusual circumstance led to mass exodus of people from the theater in search of refunds. Don't go. read more

On March 21, 2015 at 2pm ,I went to Crossgates mall to see the movie Insurgent with my family in theater # 2. We sat all the way in the back row, as these seats are fit for our liking . At the time, there was a smell as if something was rotten . Upon observation, I noticed some food down the isle on the floor ,and thought that may be the reason for the smell. At the end of the movie , we all checked around and under our seats to make sure we didn't leave anything behind. I noticed under my seat a metal, square box that was open. Upon examining it, I noticed it to be a mouse trap. Inside lay a dead mouse that had been in there for some time. Not to mention the rotten smell that was pouring out of it. I closed the box with my foot and noticed the name "Eco Lab" printed on it. I immediately looked for a manager to discuss this finding . I noticed an older gentleman wearing a suit near the concession stand . I went over and introduce myself, and asked him if he was a manager. He replied " yes". He did not verbalize his name to me . I was unable to make out his name on his badge as he was tall, and I'm much shorter. I expressed my concern about the matter, emphasizing my fear of a young child coming across this. Not to mention health concerns with this mouse trap not being attended to, under a consumers seat . His reply came as a shock to me. He appeared annoyed, there was no eye contact, his body slightly turned away from me. He stated " we have those all over. Yup, I'll have someone look at that ". Then proceeded to walked away. I didn't get a chance to explain the location of the mouse trap. If you plan to bring your family out to see a movie, just be weary of what is under your seat , and where you place your bags ! I for one will not return to this cinema again. read more

The theater rooms are really nice and always clean. I'm not a fan of the $10 tickets or how much the soda, popcorn, or snacks are. The picture quality and sound are always great. The staff however needs to put on a smile and be more life-like. read more

"Wonder Woman" was excellent. However, we had to endure 25 minutes of ads and previews. The show was scheduled to begin at 7:30. With the unanticipated 25 minutes of sales pitches, the movie didn't start until 7:55. That's a significant difference on a weeknight. I won't go back there. read more

This theater is okay. When they first started this was the go to cinema but now with Colonie Center right down the road and with the new Regal go there if they are showing the same movie! The employees are the ticket stand are kind of rude, when I ask some of them questions they roll their eyes right at me like the clear glass between us isn't transparent or something. The really nice thing about crossgates is that they have IMAX and the 3-D showings. So if you want both combined you do have to go here :) This place is great for kids as well simply because there is a huge arcade right before you hit the theaters and right across the hall is a laser tag place now. read more

Went to a movie yesterday and was disturbed by yelling, swearing, kids the entire showing. The manager was very rude when we informed him of the situation, only saying "well I haven't gotten any complaints." Won't be going back to that theater again. I will stick with Colonie Center. read more

I live 50 miles away from Crossgates Regal (#1737) Cinema. On Monday, 4/11/17, two of us drove that 50 miles one way to see a movie that was not showing at my local Regal or any other nearby theater company. When we entered the mall and walked to the ticket booth, the lone young woman at the window was sitting reading a book and didn't get up to take care of us until I spoke to her. After handing me the tickets, she immediately sat back down and opened up her book. I asked, "Is the theater full, do we have time to go to the restroom, or should we go right in?" She ignored me. I had to speak again and with a huff, she told me there was plenty of room. Then I asked where the closest restrooms were and she still acted upset that I was interrupting her book reading! She vaguely pointed off somewhere outside the theater. I asked weren't there restrooms in the lobby? No. We went to the restroom vaguely "over there," and when we came back to the lobby, I started heading towards the Customer Service kiosk area at the far back of the lobby. I could see as I was walking that there was no one there, so as I passed the concession stand, a young woman there (who also had a big book on the counter), looked up and smiled. I asked her if I could speak to the manager and she quickly told me she'd get him and he'd be right out. But, no, I waited a long time (for such an empty theater at 3:30 pm with no lines, no people anywhere). When I finally saw a man walking towards the kiosk, he had a very flat affect and didn't even introduce himself or even ask me if I had a concern. I had to ask him if he was the manager. I told him of my experience at the ticket window and how un-welcomed it made me feel and how that girl was more interested in her book than customers. He still had this closed look on his face and he said nothing, no apology, nothing! So, sensing his disregard as well for the situation, I told him that we drove 50 miles to see this movie, but if this theater didn't care about our money, didn't treat us like they wanted us as customers, then we wouldn't come there again and we'd just wait for the DVDs to come out! Just thought I'd pass this on since people's actions do have consequences and when a business doesn't care about treating customers like they are wanted and appreciated, we have other options! Also, the seats in our theater were very uncomfortable, and armrests did not go up (annoying!) Not worth our time, money, nor travel to this theater again! Next time we want to see a movie that's not showing locally, we WILL just wait for the DVD! Don't patronize where you're not wanted nor appreciated! read more
