We go to the Regal in Merced when we want to go out to the movies. The place is huge with a ton of theaters, including an IMAX venue. The place is pretty busy, but the staff does a pretty fair job keeping it clean and picked up. The theaters are spacious the seating is comfortable, and the sound system is good. We enjoy our visits a lot, and recommend the place. read more

This is my first time me and my family have been to this theater. It was nice spacious, clean, and the staff was very friendly. We went earlier in the day to see the SpongeBob movie and surprisingly they had a popcorn bucket bundle for that SpongeBob movie for around $22 which was a steal because just a dollar or two less we could've got a small popcorn and one soda. The bundle came with the SpongeBob collectible popcorn tin and 2 collectible cups. So I will return. The only thing I was disappointed in was the kettle corn was burnt and she didn't tell me that she just gave it to me and I should've tasted it before I went back to my seat but other than that, it was a great experience. read more

Love the Hot Cheetos Popcorn. Always out of the Hot Cheetos Popcorn. Spoke to the manager. Yada yada, it's a popular item so they've never figured out how to meet demand after months... Concessions is how a theater makes money. Get competent managers. No attempt to make customer whole. Just false advertising. I like the iMax so I give 1 star. Am I not a gracious god? If you don't mind high prices and watching 35 minutes of previews then this is the place for you. Recently went to watch the new Jurassic Park movie. Was to start at 3:05 PM but we all know you have to sit through 10-15 minutes of previews. Nope not at Merced Regal. They said, Hold my beer and watch 35 minutes of previews. THIRTY FN MINUTES OF PREVIEWS!!! That is BS. Watched - Dr. Strange in the multiverse of madness SEATING == (3/5) This theater still have fold down chairs which is a classic but most modern theater for about the same price has sofa like seats. I much rather go to one near my area. TICKETS == (5/5) There were a bunch of showings for the new hit movie so we can be very flexible with our times to go watch. Of course the things we wish we can always change are the prices because they're really outrageous and hopefully they'll upgrade to what the bay area has and get some more comfortable seats. It's a fine middle of the road theater. Seats aren't the best around, but they'll do if you're not not willing to go out of town. Parking can be rough. Concessions are, of course, overpriced. However, staff is always helpful and pleasant. The Regal Corporation is also very good about compensation if something is wrong with your screening. This place could use an overhaul, for sure, but movies are in a weird place right now and the future is uncertain read more

We love coming here because customer service is always really good, restrooms are usually cleaned and in the summer the AC works and in the winter the heater is great. However, the seat cushions need to be cleaned! I'm tired of leaving the theater with stains on my clothing from dirty seats. Escape to Regal Hollywood Merced for a lovely evening out on the town, or if the movie takes you, to the fictional realm of visionaries. Eric who assisted my partner and I at concession apprised us we could redeem one refill on our items throughout the showing. When I returned to the counter for a refill later, Eric stopped his work in the lobby to promptly assist me from behind the counter. Eric's service was so swift that I was able to return promptly to my film showing without missing a beat! My kudos go out to Eric for his prompt service, kind demeanor, and popcorn-poppin' expertise. I really enjoyed this little movie theater! I watched both barbie and oppenheimer back to back and never felt unsafe. The food can be pricey but thats a movie theater after all. The bathrooms are surprisingly clean and have lots of stalls. Staff are young so they are very laid back! Enjoyed my visit! read more

This movie theatre is way out of league for Merced. It is surprisingly big, clean, and new looking inside. This is definitely nicer than the other theatre next to Merced Mall. Employees are all friendly. Seats are pretty standard. They recline a little bit and your arm rests have large cup holders and these arm rests can swivel up and down. The cinema rooms are really clean inside. Bathrooms are pretty clean too. We shall return. read more

This is a nice movie theater for the area, they have plenty of viewing rooms for screening multiple films but in comparison with other movie theater companies, they are fairly outdated with acoustics, resolution and atmosphere. This particular theater does not offer any high end surround sound, IMAX experience, recliner seats or in house alcohol sales. Despite being behind with the times, this theater still manages to supply guests with all the amenities common to most theaters. They offer a full snack bar with self service "butter" station, arcade area and online reservation and sales capabilities. read more

I'm a bit concerned about the food safety at this location. Revived a large popcorn and it had random pieces of hot Cheetos and flavored pieces of popcorn in it. When we had went it was one of the last showings. Employees weren't very welcoming or friendly. We did have to purchase our tickets at the concession stand. It has a few arcade type games in the lobby area. Down the theatre hall there is some candy machines not much . We were inside theatre 1 . I've never noticed how dirty the seats were until this evening and yeah pretty gross seats just be sure to find ones that are clean. Im sure it's just a coincidence that I keep getting put in the same auditorium, but auditorium 5 is absolutely terrible. I've watch Thor: Love and Thunder, Creed 3, and just recently The Machine all in this auditorium, and every time the projector is so dark. It is very hard to view dark scenes or to tell at all in general what is going on in some scenes. Not sure if staff, or management can fix this problem about the darkness of the projection. Also the seats armrest are torn, some of the plastic is torn of the chairs, just very poorly cared for. However the popcorn was very good, although it would be nice to get my popcorn layered with butter like the Regal in Turlock practices. My advice, go to the Regal in Turlock. I understand it's almost a 30 minute drive, but it seems like the problem with the darkness with the projection will never be fixed. This theater is in desperate need of a renovation. read more

Regal 13 is decent. After 8 visits here, I feel the following: It's in a good location and conveniently close to parking. The staff are all friendly and polite--if I've ever had issues, they were on it. One time they left the lights on in the theater and nobody could see the previews. It was funny, but they fixed it right away when a woman reported it to an employee. The bathrooms are great! They are clean and don't smell like a 100 cattle dairy farm. They must clean them constantly, I don't know, but they are always well maintained. Kudos to R13 for this, it's hard to find a theater with nice bathrooms. One of the stars they get is solely for their care of their restroom facilities. The theaters are always clean. Movies start on time, and they still have the nice roomy stadium seating that tall people can comfortably fit in. That all said: Buy tickets ahead and skip the box office and buy tickets online. The last couple of movies I went to see, there were programming issues and my movies kept ringing up at the 3D price for a regular movie. Poor employee and manager had to fix that nonsense. Not their fault, but it's an issue if it keeps happening. Personally, I stopped buying their concessions because the 5 times I have bought popcorn here, it has been just above cold. Not warm, not hot like other theaters--and I don't butter and salt my popcorn. Straight out of the bucket "fresh" and lukewarm. Yuck! I don't know how they manage to mess up the most expensive popcorn I can buy within an hour's drive, but they do. $9 for a large tub (with one free refill). No thank you. Maybe there's a time of day where the popcorn is hot or warm, but I gave it 5 tries (including right when the doors opened for service,) and didn't find it. The other concessions are your basic fare. Bagged Tostitos and cheese dip instead of nachos; candy, water, soda. The usual suspects. If you're into all that, go for it. I go here to see a movie only. If I want a full cinema experience with snacks and fancy seats, I go somewhere else. read more

I've been meaning to review this place but haven't for some reason. We've visited over 3 dozen times in the last 2 years. Seems we have plenty of experiences to base this review off of. This past visit to see 50 Shades Freed was not the best visit. Too many people were talking and wouldn't shut up. We couldn't hear some of the movie because of the whispering in it & people laughing and joking. The employee who comes in with the lighted wand didn't do a darn thing. I guess it's too much to ask Regal to hire people who have the ability to tell others to be quiet. I don't have a problem doing this but it might turn ugly. :-P Bathrooms are usually really clean for a busy theater. I'm surprised but thankful after a long movie and drinking lots of fluids. Prices are as ridiculous as ever but you kinda expect that anywhere you go. Just use your Regal Rewards card so you can get credit towards a free ticket later. As for the employees, they're robots. Ask a question - you get the same answer. Ask for clarification- they repeat the first answer. Customer service at the concession stand seems to be a bit better than at the ticket booth. I'm there for movie and experience with friends & family - sometimes you just have to overlook stupidity. My and my girlfriend started come every weekend so far we watched Aquaman, The Mule , Green book, Escape Room, Glass going to The Upside next. The first front row seats are really uncomfortable I suggest going a lil early to get good seats. The popcorn is a lil on the salty side the nachos are not all that either. Didn't let me buy my ticket to Rogue One because I missed the box office by 5 minutes, even though I begged and pleaded and explained that I drove an hour in heavy rain to see my movie (which had just started 20 minutes ago, so I probably just missed the trailers). I was willing to pay in cash and even purchase concessions, but some people have no sympathy for their fellow human beings. I used to work at a prestigious movie theater in LA and this kind of thing would never fly there. Never coming here again, never taking my family here. This is why people get home theater systems. Of the Two Theaters in Merced the Hollywood Theater on Main Street is better in every sense aside from the Popcorn. The Theater is maintained much better along with it being newer and having a more desirable location. It's your typical movie theater in terms of pricing, but what I really like about this place is that if you go to an older movie and nobody is in it the arm rests move up and down so you can take up two seats and align yourself perfect with the center of the screen,lol. Anyway, this theater always has the better variety of films to choose from and a more friendly staff. 4 of 5 stars. read more

In terms of selections for movie theaters in the immediate Merced area, this would be the one to go to if you want to catch a flick. The catch is, Mainplace Theater and the UA Theater split movies based on genre. So if you saw "The Dark Knight" at Mainplace, that means youd've had to have watched "Iron Man" at the UA Theater, which is pretty jank. The thing that I liked the most about this theater is that it's right in the middle of the downtown area. If you are a UC student, the E-line will drop you off right here from campus on Cat Tracks. All in all, it's your pretty standard movie theater. Nothing spectacular. It does get pretty crowded on a Saturday night though. read more

I used to go to the movies on a regular basis, but haven't cared much for the movies available lately. Crime, loud music are not for me. My daughter texted me from LA area and said I had to go see "Beautifully Broken" a Christian based movie. Well, I went with friends on Sunday. Then I went again Monday with my daughter-in-Law. The movie is amazing and I would highly recommend the whole world see it. True story and the lives of 3 world apart families and how God brought them together. Since reading the book "When God Winks at You" and applying that belief in my life I find God Winks everywhere, EVERYWHERE. That's what this movie is about. God's path for each of us to follow. The other thing I noticed at the theatre, there are at least 3 more Christian movies coming soon. Looks like I will be going to the movies regularly. Also a couple of great kid movies coming up. "Little Foot" and a new "Grinch" movie. Can't wait. read more
