Eventually we all go around to the lobby where no is telling us anything. Firemen come and leave but here we are 20 minutes later waiting in the lobby. No employee nor manager has made an announcement. Absolutely ridiculous. One guy who came down to tell us to back off the wall literally told us the manager told him not to say anything. Growing up on the South Shore in the 80s, I remember calling what was then called Hoyt's Cinema ("take Route 3 to Exit 8") and hearing about Tuesday "bargain days--all seats, all shows, only $4!" Easy to get in and out. I like the fact that it's in the mall and easy to walk to Target or grab a snack. The theater itself is comfortable and well kept. Different screen sizes so if you want a big screen go to RPX or check the screen size before you buy a ticket. I actually like some of the smaller screens depending on the movie. Upon entering the check in process was quick. However, we then waited, and waited and waited to buy popcorn and water. There were 4 or 5 people working the concession stand, and there was only one group of people in front of us. Even getting our popcorn took a while. The medium size seemed like a small compared to other theaters. Also, there was not much butter put on the popcorn. The employee who rang us up was very pleasant and did help us use the app to redeem a free popcorn. Our tickets were for theater 12, RPX. They are old style seats where you have to sit on it to make the bottom part go down. Only issue is I am petite and the spring action for the seat to go back up is pretty strong! So throughout the movie I was having to apply pressure to keep my seat down all the while my feet can't touch the floor. There is not a lot of space in front of each seat so super challenging for people trying to get to their own seat while holding popcorn, drinks and navigating around others feet. It wasn't pretty. I'm not sure what value RPX added. I would have preferred the reclining seats for a more comfortable movie. read more

The staff was kind at least the people I interacted with. Besides that the movie I went to see was ruined By a bunch of obnoxious kids. yelling and shouting throughout the movie. The movie was basically ruined. The reason for the one star review is totally based on both the staff of the concession stand and the concession stand in general! Regal cinemas in Kingston is most definitely one of the best there is I've ever experienced in my entire time of my life attending movies. The staff here is extremely helpful and always goes completely out of their way to help me. Although the thing seem expensive they are fair pricing for movies and the food here is always fresh. They said it is still pending and won't go through and made me purchase 4 more tickets. Next day purchase went through. Called to get refund and they told me I had to contact corporate. Went yesterday to see IT pt 2 with friends who live on the Cape. This theater is halfway between me and them, so we thought it was a good idea. However this theater and Target seem to be the flagships keeping this mall together. I bought tickets for us earlier online and I'm glad I did, tickets are not sold at the ticket booth like at every other theater. This place seems to be cutting back on staff so now the poor concession stand kids are overworked and overwhelmed selling tickets and food. Terrible idea of management to do this. You have a ticket booth, staff it! At least on weekends and holidays. Then the theater doesn't open until 30 minutes before the first show, that really should be posted somewhere, there was a crowd of us standing outside wondering what was going on. When we did get in popcorn wasn't popped, really? No popcorn ready? At a movie theater? The kids working were all friendly and kind, but you can tell they were stressed and overworked. Theater was fine, seats are assigned but don't recline like other theaters with assigned seats. Then the fire alarm went off 2/3 way through the movie and they had to give us comp tickets because all the first shows were cancelled. Overall this theater made some thoughtless management staffing decisions, and was a disappointing day. read more

We visited Regal Cinemas & RPX recently for our weekly date night. Although a little late to the game, we opted to see "Star Wars: Rogue One" in the RPX theater. The prices at Regal are slightly higher for 3D and RPX, and we had hoped to go for a matinee and save a little money, but couldn't make it in time. Prices are $16.75 per adult for the Real3D RPX ticket (matinee $14.75 pp). Supposedly, RPX is 3D on 'roids. Better picture, better sound. Comparable to IMAX, in my experience. We bought our tickets for the 6PM show on a weeknight, and wandered the Kingston Collection mall til it was time to return. Of course, I had to buy movie theater popcorn-- who could resist? But buyer beware-- prices at Regal Cinemas far outweigh those at other theaters I've been to, by several dollars. We didn't even buy a soda, prices were that absurd! If I recall correctly, our medium popcorn was $8+. The most unfortunate part about concessions is that their popcorn sucks. Like, *really* sucks. Doesn't even taste like "movie theater" popcorn. I don't know if they use a weird off brand, or what, but I wouldn't even bother buying it again. Our movie going experience was nice, fun, but what we expected. I'm still not clear what the noticeable difference is between Real3D and the Real3D RPX (per the website, it's the sound). The 3D viewing was enjoyable, and the steep stadium seating made for unobstructed views for all. The sound seemed to have more depth than normal, to my ears, but since I was able to make out dozens of people crunching their popcorn behind me, I don't know how "worth it" RPX is. I'd definitely return to Regal Cinemas to see another 3D/RPX film, but I'd surely go for the matinee: better pricing, less people to hear happily munching their mediocre concession foods. Had to switch up my ticket at the last minute and was taken very good care of by Anthony, the manager on duty at the time. Saw my movie on the RPX screen which is just awesome. Hopefully they convert the seats to recliners soon, I moved from Boston to the cape and I definitely got spoiled by the new theaters up there. read more

Love this movie theater!! It used to be pretty gross and old, but the recent renovation has kick started it into movie awesomeness. The seats are stadium style and very comfy, they rock and recline. The place is clean, the AC was pumping on a hot day and staff was friendly. So far I've only been to the regular movies, but would love to check out the RPX theater sometime for a movie. Get the regal rewards card, as it can save you money on tickets, and can get you discount as the concession stand. Who knows, maybe this theater will save the Independence Mall! read more

Poor Management for sure! Looks like training class went badly for most of the employees. Had to wait in a concession line for tickets, everyone was complaining in line. If you just want to buy a ticket then you have to wait for people in line getting concession items! Ridiculous, or you could spend an additional fee per ticket and get online or at the kiosk! After waiting in line for tix, popcorn and a soda, watched half hour of previews (so the 1PM movie didn't start at 1!). About a half hour into the movie the fire alarm went off ( Today @ approx.1.50PM). There were no announcements, no one to tell you where to go, everyone herded into the mall when 3-4 employees came out with "readmission tickets" in their hands. Again, no one announced that we should "get in line again" to claim our ticket for another show time! Most of us left our soda/popcorn at our seat, so we were out that money as well. This will be the first and last time at this theater. VERY POOR MANAGEMENT! I'm going to dispute the charge on my CC as I wasn't going to wait for another hour plus to get the readmission ticket! The crowd in the mall makes matters worse - close your eyes and picture gangs of obnoxious pre-teens and teenagers.. If i could give it zero i would. We 1) bought our tickets the concession stand which was strange. 2) they had about 2 people working to fulfill one persons order. 3) watched "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" for 2 hours 30 min (a 2 hour 45 min movie) and the freaking fire alarm goes off. We didn't get to see what the 2 hours and 30 minutes led up to (apparently what toy wait for the whole movie) It's 10:45 pm with a bunch of tweens waiting for there twilight refunds. Not waiting around for the ONE poor girl working. Grow up regal. read more

I would agree with the other reviews a year ago. However, the Cinemas were completely overhauled in 2012 and they are amazing! 14 Screens all stadiumized with high back seats and great sound systems. The box office and concessions are all brand new AND they pop their own popcorn not like some others that buy bags. Lastly, They added what they rall an RPX Cinema to the expansion/renovation .(I guess this is their version of an IMAX) This is a 400 seat cinema with a 70ish foot wide screen, great sound and leather high back seats. If you haven been to this cinema in a while you defienetly should give it another chance no reason to travel to get a good experience now! read more

I came here on Christmas with my family to see Joy. The tickets were $11.50 each. There was issues with the screen projection and picture at the beginning of the movie. The movie was alright. After the movie, the lights were not turned on. I had to go to the customer service desk and ask them to turn them on. I was like the movie has been over for awhile and there are handicap people there. It was definitely the B team working that night. Awful service and will never go back there. What a waste of $11.50 for poor quality picture and service. read more

We visited two weeks in a row. Both times we attempted and failed at using "points" in the app. First experience, the concessions employee was dismissive and said didn't know why app wasn't accepting rewards. On the second visit the concessions employee said to let him enter info first, when this failed he asked manager who was disinterested in her manner and that she could override. Nothing happened! Employees and management are poorly trained and unhelpful. If Regal doesn't want to honor "credits" it should discontinue the program. A bad experience. Will seek out other cinemas. read more

So it has been like 5 years, if not more, since I last went to a movie theater to see a movie. We probably should have picked a better cinema to re-acquaint ourselves with the movie theater experience. This theater is older and the seats were not comfortable at all. The chair backs were stick straight and hard. I felt as if I had a plank behind me for about 2 hours. For some reason, the entire place had a musty smell the day we were there. It was a hot and humid day so perhaps they were having some issues with the air conditioning. Definitely not the best theater experience; at least the movie we saw was very good. read more

Awesome theater! Some of the reviews are old because the theater was updated recently and now has stadium seating and RPX (like IMAX). The normal theaters are very nice and they differ in size. All of them have stadium seating and chairs that can rock back and forth. There's plenty of room to spread out in the seats. They have a concession stand with all the classic movie snacks. I was very comfortable in this theater, the temperature was good, seats were comfortable, sound quality was good. I recommend it read more

Good theatre that has ample seating with reclining chairs and a friendly staff. The popcorn is pretty good and they offer free refills when you purchase the large size. I wish they would have 10 am movie showings and midnight showings but perhaps the town doesn't allow them to. The traffic lights near the mall can make you wait when there is no traffic coming but outside of that this is a solid 4 star movie theatre that I go to over and over again. read more
