Tostitos Nachos with cheese and jalapeños.
    Phil C.

I enjoy coming to this theater. With all the different theater experiences and plenty of concession options, I'm willing to drive out to this location for blockbuster-type movies. I usually watch movies here during the week, either in the morning or early in the afternoon, when crowds are light, and parking is easy. For concessions, I usually get a popcorn, hot dog, or nachos. I really like the Doritos Nachos with the cheese on the side. You can add jalapeños or extra cheese for an extra cost. There are fountain drinks that the staff will fill, or you can grab a bottled drink from the fridge at the cashier. There are a few other food and drink options to the left and right of the lobby, as well as a bar for alcoholic drinks. One of the main reasons to visit this Regal location is the 70mm IMAX theater. I've seen Marvel movies, Superman, Oppenheimer, Sinners, and recently Project Hail Mary. I love how large the screen is, and the audio is outstanding and immersive. The ideal rows, in my opinion, are G through J, which offer a good sightline for the enormous screen. Other theaters I've been in have been clean, with seats, screens, and audio systems that are fairly well maintained. ScreenX (larger than regular screens) and 4Dx (with motion) also offer a unique theater experience. The bathrooms are clean, and the men's room has plenty of urinals and stalls. I haven't had any issues with the staff or services provided. You can purchase tickets on the mobile app or at the self-service kiosk inside the lobby. Earn and redeem rewards through the app as well. I look forward to watching another blockbuster movie here.

    Crappy, disgusting fries

The mixed drinks. I ordered a lemon drop thinking that people can't screwed up a classic drink but unfortunately they did. It tasted metallic with artificial lemon flavor. $12.99 for a tiny drink and I made a mistake of doubling up thinking lemon drops is a fool proof drink. So I ended up paying $26 for a crappy drink. The garlic Parmesan fries were incredible! Do not order fries there. I can't say much for other hot food items on the menu. Popcorn was very salty. We're not coming back there.

Stray Kids Dominate Experience in 4DX

It's my first time watching 4DX movie and I'm glad it was for Stray Kids Dominate Tour movie! The chair rocked to the music and there were smoke, lights and rain that coincided with their song Thunderous. There were surprise taps on my back and my legs. It's definitely sensory overload in a spectacular way!

This is my favorite regal in the area, due to the sheer size of the theaters. They are massive, but your experience is shaped by where you sit. Luckily, we sat in the upper middle section (which I think are the best seats in the house ). What I didn't like is that the seats didn't recline as much as the UTC movie theater seats, but overall they have a pretty good selection of movies and everything looks very modern and sleek. Parking can be a hassle depending on what time of day you go, but I would recommend these theaters (as long as they are showing the movie you're looking for)

The Regal Irvine Spectrum is one of the few nicer movie theaters left. It's a huge theater with a "real" IMAX. They also have special events with invited guests only. I like it that the theater doesn't smell greasy with popcorn butter flavor as most theaters. That makes me sick to my stomach sometimes. We like to go watch movies here when we do not have any big plans for the weekend. Seats are comfy and we like to be a bit further back (few rows back) from the center.

Here to get tickets for Avatar. Omg! Outrageous! So hard to get good tickets. The demand!

5 stars remains for the ongoing great photo ops and special events like The Devil Wears Prada 2 vending machine. Everyone gets a free gift. Everyone is a winner. See my video for details.

My boyfriend and I have the movie pass and have seen so many amazing movies in theaters. Those pics are just a small handful. We believe this is the best theater in our area! Not only do we come all the time but love to watch movies on IMAX. Last movie we saw was Stranger Things. Not really a movie but was such a fun experience with everyone. We also love that it's in the Spectrum so we can have a full day of fun while attending the movies. We did have a incident where watching. Five nights at Freddy's 2. There were really loud kids in the theater. It was VIP so people pay money to enjoy that experience. They were being really loud and obnoxious and someone told on them. A worker came in very quietly to hear them and eventually kicked them out. It was a great experience after and nice knowing you guys don't allow that type of behavior! 11/10 service and movies!!

Wait, why do they only have an average of three stars? Regardless, I say 4 stars and extra star for Jeff-- who went above and beyond with their limited VIP menu selection for drinks. Was bummed when we looked at another location where they actually offered food and specialty drinks! This location doesn't offer that. Jeff could have said no sorry, we don't have that, but he improvised and made me something similar to a White Russian with the limited ingredients he had. Jeff needs a raise for thinking outside of the box! Garlic fries were delicious and garlicky (if you like a strong garlic punch). Wasn't expecting much, it wasn't bad! Came out hot and crispy. Saw the second Wicked (For Good) and had a great time! Staff were all nice and helpful especially the young lady at the main kiosk. Theater is in a great location with a lot of foot traffic. It's nice to see it's still here after all these years.

    70mm IMAX - auditorium 12 (Sep 2025)
    Luke L.

This is one of few theaters in SoCal that offer IMAX 70mm screen (other location in LA/OC is AMC Universal Cinema at Citywalk 19 at Universal City). For the movie 'One Battle After Another', the filmmakers want audience to watch in VISTAVISION. However there's only one theater in LA with VISTAVISION (Vista Theater Hollywood) and all seats were completely booked. So I basically went with the 2nd best option which is 70mm IMAX screen and booked myself a ticket for approximately $30. [Parking]: Parking at Irvine Spectrum Center is free (for self-parking), but expect to spend 10+ minutes to find an available spot during busy dinner rush hours. [Amenities]: I like this theater has a Lavazza Cafe. Arcade is located on the 2nd floor and looks pretty fresh. [Movie experience]: The IMAX 70mm here is much better than the one from Regal Edwards Ontario Palace. There was no preview for movie trailers for the IMAX 70mm and the film started 20 minutes after the scheduled time. Seat was somewhat comfortable, but it was not a reclining seat. [Conclusion]: Overall it was a solid experience. Not sure I would keep coming back to see films in the IMAX 70mm format because I got a slight headache, but this is one of better Regal theaters I have visited.

Movie Theater is located at the Irvine Spectrum. Perfect location for a movie theater. I love it here. The lighting and atmosphere here makes movie going a fun experience. Most theater's lobbies are very bright, but not this one. I like the dark blue theme. Feels very cozy and intimate. Very good for a date movie. Came here to watch How To Train Your Dragon in IMAX format. Boy, glad I did. Movie was spectacular. What a fun ride from beginning to end. Very heart warming. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend you watch it in IMAX. It was fun! Definitely coming back for other movies in the distance future.

This was my first time in this movie theatre. It was huge. I was impressed by how clean the movie theater was. They had many options to order at the concession stand. I also liked that they had a bar. Where you can order alcoholic drinks. I went to see The Cure in concert. I would come here again.

Was able to see a screening which was great. I like this theater in that its big and the people are chill. Doesn't smell wholely like greasy popcorn. I got to try imax for the first time! I was surprised how long the hallway is for imax LOL its literally a long corridor with multiple turns so be sure to go to the bathroom and get snacks before. The seating is a bit more steep and the seats are outdated. Because of the seating is do like the recliner ones more. The screen is curved so im not sure if it was the full immersion I felt like I saw when imax was advertised as a kid. The sound system is good but I find sometimes the visuals lag, not sure if its the movie itself though. Im not a movie buff, just a normal civilian so I probably cant do the imax justice. Overall it was a good time!

Went recently to see Avatar in IMAX, it was a great experience. For starters they always have a couple people running the snack booths so you never have to wait too long to get your popcorn and stuff. The movie theater had been cleaned nicely, and the seats are spacious even when you're not in VIP. The restrooms are clean with lots of booths. And the movie theater is located in the spectrum so while you're waiting you can shop around. The arcade upstairs is a nice treat too!

Where is the best seat to watch a movie in IMax?

That's subjective -- based on preference. I like row F or G but for some they may say that's too close. You could always check out the theater when a movie is not in session and try sitting in different rows to decide what works best for you.

    Do they allow hydro flasks?

    Yes

Does this movie theater do any discount prices during the week?

Does the IMAX theater have reclining seats? (Pregnant lady needs to know this!)

    Sadly, no!

    Is there real food?

Not exactly sure what your definition of "real food" is, but there are quite a few restaurants in the Irvine Spectrum, and the Regal Theater does carry "real" theater food options.

Is there a bar in the theater?

Yes, and if your movie is showing in certain theaters, you can order at the bar, and they will deliver it to your seat.

Do they have lay down seats?

There is one theater there, I think that does.

Do they accept Apple Pay? I found out they don't. Leaving this here for future people wanting to know the same.

    I'm sorry I don't know.

Is there space between the seats?

The red vinyl, generic looking chairs have little space between you and the adjacent seats in standard theaters and "Screen X" too. The theater chairs lean back approximately five to six inches; not exactly what I'd call "reclining." I've found the… Read more

Is May 9th the last date they show endgame?

My guess is that they will continue to show Avengers:Endgame in IMAX for the weekend. Check Wednesday and you should see the schedule.

    Heck yes

Which IMAX row is better: J or K?

Definitely J! K has areas of murkiness and heavy altitude. J just feels lighter and more open to good views and much more conducive to perfect perception!

So it's a great thing that it's not too crowded for the theater experience... but it's also a bad thing that it isn't crowded because the popcorn was not as fresh and cravable as when I go to AMC or Regals. My husband and I arrived, got our tickets checked, and I noticed two large cardboard cutouts blocking the concession area. I'm not sure if they were always there, but it almost felt like they were hiding the fact that the concession stand was under renovation. We walked up expecting fresh popcorn and immediately discovered there wasn't any! Instead, they were selling prepackaged bags of popcorn that honestly looked like something you could pick up at a dollar store. There was no soda fountain, no slushies, and no hot food available. The only options were candy, nuts and sad looking bags of popcorn. What I don't understand is why nobody gave us a heads up before we entered the theater. The employee checking tickets could have easily mentioned that the concession stand was unavailable. Had we known, we could have adjusted our expectations or grabbed snacks elsewhere beforehand. For me, going to the movies is about more than just watching the movie. It's an experience. It's similar to going to Disneyland. Yes, the food is expensive, but it's part of what makes the outing fun and going to the movies can be expensive so showing up to find no fresh popcorn, no fountain drinks, no slushies, and no hot food was a such a huge disappointment. To top it off, when we got to our seats, one of the recliners was broken! The staff did let us switch seats, which I appreciated, but combined with everything else it added to the frustration. Between the lack of concessions and the broken seat, this wasn't a great experience. I think I'll be going to Cinepolis from now on.

For example, the escalators that never ever work. That is a huge turn-off coming here and it's ALWAYS been this way. I've had multiple orthopedic injuries so walking up and down the steep escalators steps are no fun. I'm only mentioning that, because you should be aware in case you or someone in your party have difficulty with mobility. From what I was able to see walking in, the lobby was decent. You can tell it is a much smaller venue than other movie theaters. The concession stand is smaller but offers plenty of candies, drinks, memorabilia and a butter dispenser off to the side. Walking into the theater itself, it's not too small, but also not very large. The seats that I happened to choose were really nice. The theater was clean. The reclining chairs were super comfortable. The screen looked great. Sound was great. I had no issues with the theater that we were in. The bathroom. The women's restroom looked clean and decent, however, they really could use a little more lighting in there. It was slightly dim and it gave a little bit of an eerie vibe. I did not realize this until I went to go wash my hands. It looks like they worked on the restroom except for the sink. The sink had cracks against the wall like it was about ready to come off. The faucets were old and just needed to be revamped. Everything else in the bathroom looked nice. At least for the bathroom on the left side when you enter the theater. Would I come back here? Sure. If the other locations I wanted to go to no longer have slots available for purchase, I would. I have Regal points and I can buy Regal tickets for a discounted rate at Costco which is $39.99 for $50.00. Sounds like a win to me.

There are many choices for food such as sandwiches, pizza, or hot pot and several choices for drinks as there is a coffee shop and boba tea place. And if you wanted to hang out all day, there is a movie theater, fitness studio and kids activities like the robot academy and art studio. The outdoor seating area is very nice with plenty of shaded areas so you can grab your food to go and eat outside. You can also sit with a view of the lake. In addition, there is a grocery store if you need to do some last minute shopping. The parking lot is plentiful and restrooms are very clean. It's usually not too crowded either during the week. The shopping plaza is patrolled by some security people which is nice.

It makes me miss home in this cookie-cutter land that I now call "home." So how do I get through this "homesickness?" One way is the Thursday Free Film Series at UCI. It's amazing how something as simple as this can make me feel so refreshed. Here's how it works: 1) Get in your car and park near UCI. I park near the free parking spots near the TJ in the University Center. Or else, you still be stuck paying for UCI parking. I don't know how much it costs because I'm never paid it. 2) Walk to HIB 100. It's near the new Starbucks on campus and near the Student Store. It won't be hard to find. I didn't even go to school here. 3) Sign-in and grab you FREE popcorn, candy (I got a bag of Whoopers and some mints), and bottle of water. Take a bookmark that lists their films for the summer. 4) Grab a seat in the lecture room and prepare to cry, smile, or frown because their selection of films are eclectic and quite good. They have themes like "Youth and Coming-of-Age," the current one, but clearly, there's a good variety. Last week was a movie about the Mexican tradition of Quinceanera, and this week is Spike Lee's Crooklyn. I loved the movie "Quinceanera" and even though I know it's a lecture room (I even lifted up the portable tabletop on the side), I cried during the movie. Okay, there's more. It's a bit like a film fest screening. There's a moderator who fills you in the movie you're watching, but he/she doesn't give away too much. So that's great. Then afterwards, you can stay for an informal discussion of the film outside. I didn't stay, but I noticed they had coffee and some cookies or pastries ready for guests who decided to hang out afterwards. It was a very cool event. Makes everything a little less cookie-cutter, thank goodness.

I went to see Rear Window, and it was fun to get caught up with the rest of audience, gasping with suspence and terror.
