Regal Cinemas Waterford was absolutely gross. For a theater that prices itself like a luxury experience, it delivers the complete opposite. Everything felt overpriced, outdated, and poorly maintained. The cleanliness was some of the worst I've ever encountered in any theater--sticky floors, dirty seats, and a general sense that no one is paying attention to basic upkeep. The service didn't help either. Staff seemed disengaged, and the overall atmosphere made the visit feel more like a chore than a night out. When you're charging premium prices, the bare minimum should be a clean environment and decent service. Unfortunately, this location misses the mark on both! So I have decided to start to patronize the theater more often again, as it's been awhile. Online purchasing of tickets is a lot better, as I like that it takes you to see what seats are available before you buy tickets. Another feature I noticed is that they allow you to pre-purchase condiments which I thought was neat. Plenty of parking in the private lot if anyone was interested. I've been going here for decades. Happy to see it opened back up after Covid. It's a great cinema, clean, and with a good concession stand. Of course, the prices are high, but hey, it's a cinema. To me, a movie is much better on the biggest screen you can find. Went here on Thanksgiving Day to see Wicked 2 and was disappointed with the overall experience: 1. The theater we were in had no heat. It was uncomfortably cold, even with our coats on. 2. The movie time was 12:00. I timed it- there were 15 minutes of commercials, followed by 15 minutes of previews. The movie did not start until 12:30. As we had plans immediately afterwards, this caused us a lot of stress and aggravation and took away from the enjoyment of the movie. I'm used to a total of 15 minutes, not 30 minutes of pre-movie nothingness. 3. 2 medium sodas and 1 medium popcorn = $30. Enough said. read more

When I went to the seats that I had reserved, I found it filthy and other people were sitting in seats that had not been cleaned after the previous movie showing. I went out and spoke the assistant manager 'Ben' and he immediately gathered cleaning supplies and proceeded to clean the theater. Ben made the situation better and more enjoyable for us. We went to the theater with my son and our grandchildren. The food and service was good, expensive, but you expect that. The seat I was in was broken. I'm super bummed about this review. This theater used to be our go to when we lived here 6 years ago. It was the first with luxury seating, and the staff was always friendly and helpful. We moved away and recently moved back. It was a no brainer to pick this theater for the new hunger games movie. We chose wrong. Not only is the staff rude(the guy with pink hair was short, rude and cussing to other staff members about other workers and customers), but they were out of popcorn on a premier weekend, the theaters were disgusting, with popcorn and trash everywhere on floors and seats, trash cans were all overflowing on to the floors, and the used to be wonderful seats were all torn and falling apart. Bathrooms were gross and all but one stall in the women's bathroom were out of toilet paper. We won't be back. We will go anywhere but here. read more

Having purchased the Regal unlimited I have attended this theater 24 times in the past 3 months. Tried to go at different times and days. The staff while mostly young is very attentive and even with long lines they stay pleasant to customers. If there is ever an issue even on the busiest of days they will address it quickly. The seating is comfortable in every theater!! Overall I think this is a well run, clean theater that has produced a fun positive experience 24 times in 3 months!!! read more

This theater was nice and cozy. The seats are pretty comfortable ("luxery seats"). The price of admission is a bit higher that other comparable theaters. We paid $20 for two tickets on a Tuesday afternoon. I love being able to choose and reserve your seat. Best to make your reservations early online for weekend movies. As a side note the theater and bathrooms were very clean during my visit. The sound system was awesome. But I was not there at prime/peak hours. read more

Last minute plans to catch Dr. Strange Multiverse Madness and we were able to get to the theater, buy tickets, get to our seats and catch the trailers! We actually could skip out and use the restroom without missing a beat. The luxury seating was comfortable. COVID still a concern, and catching a matinee makes watching a film more comfortable since we had space between our other movie goers. We'll return for another must see movie! read more

On one hand, I love the concept of Waterford's new approach to the movies. As a tall person, specific seating usually is uncomfortable for me, and hardly ever fits my lanky frame. Waterford Cinemas has large, plush, reclining seating, with ample legroom, and roomy armrests. Sadly the leg rests are still too short for my legs, but it's an improvement over no leg rests. The big issues I have with Waterford Cinemas are timing and ease of access. Literally every single time I've been there, it has been a tiresome line to get tickets, with people hemming and hawing to pick seats. The only blessed alternative is to bypass the line and buy from the kiosk just inside the lobby. I have yet to have any clerk take tickets from me once I did buy from the kiosk, which makes me worried on how they maintain security or seat selection with no check on entry. From that, the lines for the concessions are equally as bad, with tediously long lines, unhurried staff, and resulting in very cranky customers. The reclining seats will make me return to Waterford Cinemas probably many times, but I will eat and drink ahead of time, and buy my tickets online. Otherwise even super comfy seats don't make it worth coming back with the many inconveninences. read more

When I'm in CT, my other half and I will always catch a film. For two reasons: 1) It's close to the house. 2) Tickets are cheaper here then tickets in NYC. Regardless matinee or not. Time: Always during the week, first showing Cost for two: $26 (2 tickets + large popcorn) Good news: -Parking is ALWAYS available. -There has never been a line for us. Never (probably cause of the time we go) -The service is always very friendly. -The place is always clean Great news: -The seating is ideals. -About 20-25 people per theater at one showing -Tons of leg space. -Chairs are plush and recline back with a foot rest. -Huge cup holders & thick arm rest. Everyone gets their own 2 armrest, you don't need to share with someone else. -If you need to do some work before the movie starts, or don't want your drink confined to a cup holder you can put it on your own personal swivel desk. Yes, each chair gets a mini desk. Why the 4 not 5 stars: -Growing up watching movies my whole life, popcorn is an essential part of the movie experience. Hot tasty popcorn...and mochi crunch (Hawaii thing). Their popcorn seemed stale. I don't recall seeing a popcorn machine on the floor, so it may come from somewhere else. Upstairs? By truck? Not sure. It sits in a large plastic bags, and poured into the display case. (I could assume as I noticed the large bag in the opposite case) -Also the size difference from medium to large popcorn is quite the jump. Has anyone else noticed that but me? This theater is kind of like when you buy the off brand version of a food item at the grocery store. It's sort of the same, but not really. Is it still better than a regular theater with the crappy seats? Absolutely. I'm used to the reclining seats where you push the buttons to adjust how far back you want to recline/how high you want your legs. These seats just have a handle you pull and your legs go flying up like in a lazy boy chair. You can lean back to raise your legs,but mine wouldn't stay up as high the whole time. It's honestly kind of weird. My friend and I, including my entire row, was trying to figure it out. I will say the generous arm rest and cup holders were nice, in addition to the side table to place your snacks. And being able to reserve your seats online is seriously the way to go. The rest of the theater does not match the updated feel of the seats though. The concession stand left much to be desired, and the bathrooms were old and dirty. Still, I think our tickets were like $11.25 or something for a matinee so I can't really complain about that. read more

Seat G 11 in auditorium 1 doesn't recline and that's really crappy. I know it's not a total necessity to watch a movie but when you up the prices of your tickets because you're offering reclining seats, make sure they all work for your guests. The movie theatre was great, I went there yesterday with my little sister and the chairs were very comfortable I loved them but the lady that was working the counter was so rude! There was a male that was nice but the lady was just not pleasant at all and it wasn't only to us I watched her be rude to other people too, and it was Tuesday at 12:40 in the afternoon there was barely any one there, the place was dead so there was no excuse to act like that. The recliner seats are quite comfortable, but they significantly limit the number of people in the theatre and the number of seats available in a row. Shortly after we selected our two seats in the center of a row, a group of four came in and took the two seats on either side of us. We're antisocial, so we wait to go to the movies until 3-4 weeks after opening weekend. It was annoying because there were only about 8 people total in the theatre... but the design encourages this kind of stacked seating effect. For other anti-socialites like us, this is something to consider. On our recent visit, we experienced several problems. Since tickets were being sold at the concession stand and the line was long, we tried to use one of the two touch-screen computers to purchase our tickets using a gift card. The computer screen gives you the option for credit card or gift card. After going through the whole process, the screen told us there was an error and to go to the main ticket counter. We tried again with the same results. So, we waited in a 10-minute line while we watched two other employees at the concession stand chat/horse around. I assume (hope) that they somehow weren't able to sell tickets as well. At the counter, we mentioned the problem with the machine to the employee, who literally laughed at us and said that the machine doesn't take gift cards. That's bogus considering it's the first option in the check-out process... That definitely discourages me from buying anyone a gift card to this theatre. Then, the employee forced us to take the Regal rewards card. We tried to decline it, but he said he "had" to give it to us. He scanned it in and put it on the counter. We left it there, just like the couple in front of us had done. No company should force their rewards cards down your throat. You'd think these minor hassles would be enough... but it continued. The movie/trailers didn't start on time (by about 10 minutes), and then when the trailers did start for "Jurassic World" and for something else, the screen/picture was completely blank. There was audio but no picture. A man in the theatre got up and I assume informed the employees about the problem because it was fixed soon after. To top this off, I tried to contact Regal through their feedback page, and after I explained these troubles, their automated form told me that my message couldn't be longer than 255 CHARACTERS. Not even words, people... characters, including spaces. To me that's symptomatic of a company that really doesn't give a you-know-what about customers' feedback or experiences. All in all, it was too many hassles to be worth it for us. We can buy our tickets at Lisbon Landing in less than 5 minutes, see movies in a larger theatre with stadium-style reclining seating without feeling like sardines, the restrooms et al are much cleaner, and the overall experience is much more pleasant. If you do choose to go to this theatre, do what another reviewer mentioned and buy your tickets in advance. You'll at least avoid half of the hassles we faced. read more

It's an older movie theater that's showing it's age. The screens are not stadium seating but they are still a decent size. The chairs are starting to wear a bit and the theater has a slightly funny smell to it. Overall though once the movie started I enjoyed it enough to mostly forget the lack of cutting edge features. If you have the time I DO recommend going to a nicer theater like Stonington or somewhere else. Otherwise it will do in a pinch. They only serve nacho's, candy, and popcorn which was kind of surprising. read more

For the seats and convenience of location, it's a good choice. That's about it. While other theaters have fun souvenirs and events, this one doesn't. They aren't fond of DC, either. They will go out of their way for Disney and Marvel, but when it comes to DC promotions, they do their best to "run out" of things before opening day or not have them at all. The opening time listed is 11:00 AM. That's funny. This theater never opens its doors until 15-20 minutes before the first feature. If the first movie starts at 12:30, doors will open roughly at 12:10. In the summer, when movies start around 10:20, the doors won't open before 10. I've had conversations with the employees there, who are mostly very nice, and they say they aren't allowed to open sooner. The website conflicts with what they do, so I don't know if this is just a lazy management situation. The screens don't match the quality of the reclining seats. For big box office films, I drive an hour out of my way to either New Haven or Lisbon. Not even the 3-D screens are good here. Improving the seats was a big step up, but it's sad they think this was the only improvement they had to make. read more

The best theater in the area to see a movie. Up until the renovation, I watched every movie at Lisbon landing due to the newer screens, stadium seating, etc. Since the renovation, I have yet to see a movie at a different location other than Regal Waterford. The experience is amazing. The seats bring the movie experience to another level. The seats are a large "lay-z-boy" style reclining seats with a tray that can be positioned to your liking and optional foot rest. The seats are large enough so you're not bumping elbows with the person next to you. The seating is assigned, for every show. No more showing up to the movies 45 minutes early to ensure a good seat on opening night. All of the screens are not huge, but the picture is clear. The sound is good and rarely will you ever here bass or sound from a neighboring show. Only aspect needing attention would be adding an extra concession worker or two on opening nights and weekends. Lines can get long and move slow. Tips: -Buy tickets online (Fandango app is great), ahead of time. Shows will sell out on weekends and you it gives you the ability to choose your own seats from home. -If you bought tickets online, don't make the mistake of waiting in the often long line outside at the ticket window to pick up your tickets. Walk inside to the man taking/scanning tickets, he'll scan the code on your phone or print out. If he is busy the two automated computers can also scan the code and print your stubs. -Although seats are assigned, get there a few minutes earlier on the weekend, concession lines can be long and slow. -Use the regal app if you frequent this theater! Each month there is a new coupon for money off a concession item and you accumulate points for money spent on tickets and snacks. read more

I love love love the updates to the theaters! I love the seating! They have recliner seats that are extremely comfortable! It really Improved my movie viewing experience! That alone is worth 5 stars! I'd give this place 3.5 stars if I could. They need to update the ticketing screens to show what is sold out. You can stand in line for 20 mins only find out that the movie you want to see is sold out. Also, they often only have 1 person selling tickets and 2 People selling food. Because the new seating resulted in less seats per theater, they are always sold out or extremely busy. They need to hire more people during their busy times. I am one of those people that LOVES the movies, but hates the seating as it is so uncomfortable. This is not the case with this theater and the awesomely upgraded LUXURY reclining seats! I also like that you can pre-buy your tickets and reserve your seat on Fandango....aka NO MORE LINES!! I could care less about the nominal service fee for this convenience. The only thing that keeps me from giving it a solid 5 stars is the snack and drink offerings. If only the food from Westbrook CInemas and the seating and pre-buy situation from this theater could be combined with hot food and pitchers of beer -- THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!! Until then, please fix the CO2 ratio on your (generic-coke products) soda and please make you popcorn in smaller batches so it stays fresh and warm. read more
